Rules for new tumblr users
I'm sure people will have seen other mcyt blogs first and they've all given warnings but I'm just making this to pin at the top of my blog and so I can edit it when I inevitably realise I've forgotten something.
General ground rules:
If you have a default profile picture, blog and haven't reblogged anything, you will likely get blocked as a potential spam account. It doesn't have to be a lot, just search the tags for some of your interests and reblog some cool art or something.
You have to curate your own dashboard on tumblr. Search and follow the tags of things you enjoy, find users within those tags you want to see more from, follow and reblog posts from them. And if you aren't enjoying yourself, don't be afraid to unfollow people again (we don't usually pay attention to follower counts) and block tags/people if you really aren't happy seeing them.
If you want to keep things nice and neat, most of us will have a main blog (the one you get when you join the website) and then for any particularly strong interests will have a side blog. You can't like or follow from side blogs, but you can reblog things easily and people can follow side blogs if they share that interest with you. You can even make group blogs by going to the side bar of your sideblog and clicking 'members'!
Don't censor words, especially in the tags. You won't get reported or 'shadowbanned' for saying words like 'kill' or 'fuck' and if you do censor them then people who have them as blocked words and may be triggered by them will see them anyway.
When you join tumblr, there will automatically be sections showing what you've liked and who you've followed publically visible on your blog. Not only can you make these invisible in your settings, but we actively encourage it! People don't usually pay attention to them anyway but it's easier for you to like the things you want when you know people won't see them and judge you.
If you want to have a conversation with other people and get replies, put what you want to say in the main text of reblogs. If you're just trying to add a funny comment or say things without people responding to them, put it in the hashtags or as a reply. It means you can reblog things from other people without also having to reblog hundreds of people's random little comments.
Mcyt specific:
If you're gonna make posts, use 'mcyt' rather than the word 'mine/craft' when you're tagging. That tag is reserved for people who want to talk about the game and if you start talking about your blorbos in their tag, you will be told off for it. Same with tags where the word is included, use (e.g. use mc championships instead of the full name because it will still get picked up by the game's tag)
There are people in the mcyt communities on tumblr who ship and will post about those ships in the main tags. I'm personally not one of those people and try to avoid it where possible but you will inevitably come across it. If that's not your thing, don't make posts raving about how terrible it is or start harrassing them. If you don't want to see it just block the people doing it, block the relevant tags and move on. The communities here are pretty good at tagging their stuff using 'hermitshipping' for hermitcraft, 'trafficshipping' for the life series, 'empireshipping' for empires, and 'dsmpshipping' for dream smp. I don't think it happens much for dsmpblr but the others it's a regular occurence.
A lot of us (including myself) don't want to be noticed by content creators! We were here first and for the people who write fics or make art, they may feel uncomfortable posting if there's a chance a CC will see it. I believe Aimsey's now saying there's an 'Aimsey look' tag that they will go through each week so only people who wanted to be noticed will be, and I know we can't really do much to stop CCs going through the hashtags but just don't @ them in posts unless they're your own or OP specifically says you can.
No drama please! This is supposed to be a chill space and people moving over from twitter aren't going to ruin that. We've been here longer than you have, so you're the guests under our house rules. This is especially the case when it comes to MCCs. Leave Scott and Noxcrew be!
This is a personal one but please don't complain to me about buildmart. Yes I know people hate it and think it's unfair but I and other people here really enjoy it so I will simply block people who complain about it. We're all entitled to opinions but it's really tiring to see people shit on it once a month every month.

Stance on shipping?
I think you mean in terms of Hermitcraft, likely? In which I don't mind it.
Because of boundaries I tend to avoid it, and when I do it's only ever the characters and not the CCs, like with my writing.
I don't take someone not commenting on it as being fine with it, but even then I do avoid it.
Honestly, I try not to think about it. I am relatively a Scarian fan/shipper (the literal only thing I ship from all of MCYT), but if I think too hard my mind goes into the realm of CC Grian being married, etc., and I feel guilty. If you do want to ship people, please only do so about their characters, do not talk about it online without proper warnings, tags, and make sure the Hermits can't easily find it and are okay with shipping. This is why Tumblr gets a bad wrap-.
There is a blog over here on Tumblr, hermitcraft-boundaries, I believe. I don't know how accurate they are but I can confirm there is a decent collection of things.
Don't be afraid to talk about ships with me though, and feel free to send me ship art or tag me in it. I really don't mind. When I see ship art it makes me smile and think about writing possibilities, but after a short while my mind goes back to its previous state of not thinking too hard about them.
If it bothers you, I will always have any ship-related posts (be it reblogs, my own comments, stuff anons say, or fics) properly marked, tagged, and with warnings :)

Honestly now that I think about it, the part that's the most striking about the scene where Grian finally tells Scar they're soulmates is the fact that Scar goes along with it at all.
Scar can see the dripstone and he knows what it does. Grian has led him into this exact position before with glib promises of safety on his lips and then killed him. The first thing Grian did to him in the last game was steal a life from him. As far as Scar knows, Grian is his opponent in this game and he has no qualms about killing people with traps long before his red life.
And yet Scar follows Grian willingly onto the target and does not try to get away, apparently content to let Grian hurt him if that's what Grian really wants to do. But of course he looks away at the pivotal moment, focusing instead on something soft and comforting. Who would want to look their best friend in the eye at a moment like that?

Hermitcraft's Season Nine combination of "creeping eldritch horror" and "Looney Tunes shenanigans" actually blends in an oddly pleasing way. Like, yes you could see a rock with a bloody flesh-geode inside, or a machine that eats worlds, or a library build on nothing inside an endless void, but you could also watch a guy splat himself like a bug against a bank vault door for ten minutes or watch someone drop an anvil from the sky onto their rival's sandcastle. What could be next?

Cleo's stream today is very funny, she has pointed out the obvious fact that she and Bdubs have had conversations about Twitter and Tumblr as far back as the trouble she had on Tumblr back in 2020 or so, and that Bdubs is very aware of the existence of internet content beyond what is tagged to his attention. She agreed wholeheartedly that him pretending he doesn't is very funny, though.
Now I've got the image in my head of Bdubs trolling Hermittwt the way a dad plays hide and seek with a little kid. "Oh NO! Is there something hiding BEHIND THE DOOR? Maybe I'll go over there and TAKE A LOOK! Or... is there something IN THE CUPBOARD?" and meanwhile the fandom is standing behind the curtains, making a visible fandom-shaped lump in the fabric and giggling loudly.

there's a lot of things i appreciate about Joe Hills, but one of them is his determination to make all the signs on hermitcraft ADA compliant. his enderchest contains white dye so that he can make poor sign choices legible. when he tweets images from stream there's a big pause as he adds the alt text. he talked about making a discord bot to remind his discord members to add alt text to their images. i respect this guy. the only reason he doesn't have professional subtitles is because he believes in paying all his staff fairly and he can't afford it yet

I don't (and won't) often post prayer requests on platforms like this, but I know I've got some believer mutuals.
I have a friend who has several chronic issues. They can't really be cured, and treatment only does so much. She is young like me, and has lived with them (worsening) for a number of years already.
Her symptoms have been especially bad in the last few weeks, since her family attended a week-long church fellowship camp. It usually takes her quite long to recover, but it has been especially hard this year.
If you would, pray for her endurance, her pain, and her peace, as well as the wisdom of everyone in her support system (including myself).
(I have permission from her to ask for others' prayers, with the omission of her name)

Okay so been rewatching dhmis again as I should be in my free time.
And I think red guy represents yellow guys shy older brother before the house/car thing happened. This one is just a hunch based off of the end of episode 3 where red calls yellow "brother" And just his general vibes.
Also, red guy being the oldest child in an abusive household makes sense to me. Red guy sees what's happening with the family dynamic turning them against each other while also forcing them together I. Repeating conflicts with no escape is kind of relatable with that. Maybe I'm just pprojecting.
Makes Lesley's line about them always returning back home in the end very extra fucked up.
Roy is the abusive father clearly. And Lesley is the micromanaging mom. I don't know if she is also abusive or just enables Roy but she's definitely complacent. The doll house thing, the deciding what they learn and how they act, the whole making the family into a production funded by asshole Roy is something a mom in denial of how awful her life is would do.
Not that I've seen it in action.
Duck is definitely the dog mashed together with an older relative probably a grandfather. In the second episode the lamp mentions how sometimes people believe that people get reincarnated as their favorite animal, the grandfather could have loved the family pet a lot. I am hypothesizing the existence of a grandfather due to all the references to a military past for duck and how he's always in a rocking chair. We also always see duck as the one who is constantly being replaced which is common for pets especially for the ones of small children.
Yellow guy being a representation for Lesley's dead son is the one that makes the most sense to me based off the evidence. If you have a better theory please present evidence and talk me up.
I noticed that the agreed upon symbols that are the characters each have a stylized drawing of each of them included in the squiggles and I think that's pretty cool.
Red guy is yellow guys brother is probably adopted.
Roy is probably neglectful if not abusive and I think he was taking care of duck as a pet when he died of dehydration/"forgetting" to drink water. Grolton kinda looks like roy and grolton refused to give hovris any water in episode 4 when he needs to get to his dental appointment for his gum disease, which we also see Roy in disguise with absolutely terrible gums.
I need to go through everything grolton and hovris appearance to figure out any possible theory clues.
If it's not clear I'm dumping things here
I don't know if I put this idea on tumblr but Lesley was probably drunk when she ran over her son. Actually I think I did put it here. Anyway I think she probably started drinking because of either grief of grandpa dying, grief from her first son drowning, or just self medicating from Roy's bull shit.
Maybe red guy is an uncle.
I stopped watching the episodes and started watching bo Burnham and the theories are fading.

1. when and how did you get into hermitcraft?
as I mentioned briefly in one of the other asks, in April (I think) of last year, I was casually scrolling through my feed and found beef propaganda from cassberry (who I will not tag again)! I knew beef vaguely from other minecraft things and wanted a new SpIn, so after chatting with cass for a bit, I decided to give it a go! and loved it pretty much instantly. I'd been seeing dsmp stuff on my dash for ages and though it seemed kind of interesting, it was also way too angsty for me, so hermitcraft was perfect really cause it's just so chill and friendly.
5. favourite duo, trio or group?
oh, you know it has to be team ZIT(S). nothing makes me happier than seeing those boys hanging out and being friends; every time I see them appear in each other's videos, I get all flappy. though I will say - I know they're not exclusively hc but they are adjacent - team canada holds such a special place in my heart. you would not believe how excited I got when I saw that first starblight desert episode come out. oh! and soup group. can't forget soup group. and boatem. okay look there's lots of very good groups djgdjk.
17. have any episodes you constantly go back to? which ones?
zed's season 7, especially the first episode! I've restarted that season like 3 or 4 times now, though I still haven't finished it. it's just so chill and fun and I love zed's brand of humor so much. I've also actually frequently rewatched gems first episode for season 9. she did such a great job with it, plus the friendship between her and impulse was part of what made me love hermitcraft so much.
also here are some cheaty answers, because they're either not a video or not totally hermitcraft.
I have rewatched naked and scared season 23, episode 5 like. several times. that bit with the endermen and the yelling and the 'THERE IS NO TOMORROW, THERE IS ONLY RIGHT NOW' and 'dippledop! you are the liability this season!' is just so funny to me. that whole season is impeccable
I will also say, the decked out 1 testing streams with zed and tango are absolutely on loop for me. and I could spend like an entire day just watching JITS phasmo streams (which is partially to do with how much I love phasmo, but yk jdgdk)

What's something you would like to create content for? I would love to design jewelry. Like fr fr jewelry. I took a course for jewelry making years ago and it's pretty neat. I could design some stuff for Johnny if he wants me to. lol

Are you religious? Define religious. Do I go to church and/or Bible study every week? NO! That shit annoys me (sorry God, but it's true). Do I believe in God? Yes. Do I believe Jesus died for my sins? Yes, most definitely. Do I think our Holy Bible has been tampered with? Most definitely, there are books that have been edited out over the years because some 'biblical council' decided they weren't good for us to know about. In Revelation it says that we are not to change one jot or one tittle of the Holy scripture... but there they were and deleted entire books.... Someone's gonna be in a heap load of TROUBLE when they get to the pearly gates.... just sayin'....

The concept of only winners remembering the life series is absolutely heartbreaking with Scott and Pearl. They both won, but the other can't remember their partners win.
Scott goes back to empires after his win. Pearl doesn't remember their alliance, here she's not his friend and trusted ally, just the farmer queen. He can't even tell her that he placed the last axolotl down safely, or that he avenged her death. He feels a part of him die when Pearl withers away.
When Double Life starts he can't believe he's soulmates with her. The universe has stuck them together once again. But it hurts, it hurts that she didn't look for her soulmate, didnt look for him. He knows she doesn't remember but it still hurts. And then he leaves her, leaves her out of anger. Anger that she can't remember what they had with Cleo in last life. It's him and Cleo, against the world, but without Pearl this time. Just Gatekeep and Gaslight without Girlboss.
His anger starts to be directed at Pearl herself (rather than he memory loss) when she starts hurting them on purpose. Scott's annoyed with her almost every time she shows up at him and Cleo's base. The alliance they had against the reds was begrudging on Scotts side. He can't quite fathom how they went from friends to acting like bitter jealous exes. He blows himself up, genuinely thinking Pearl deserves the win, after all she did for him last season. He doesn't want to remember a world where he hates Pearl anyways.
This gets worse if you combine this concept with soulmates sharing emotions. Pearl can tell his anger is different, she can feel it, but she doesn't know why. She can't understand what else he could be mad about other than her "leaving him first." And then she wins. Something clicks in her head, that oh Scott must've won before. We must've been friends before. Oh god what have i done.
Pearl is back to being a god on Empires after Double life. She sees Scott but can't talk to him. She can't say she's sorry for ruining their soul bond, for running off to the nether with Martyn the episode one, for the powered snow, for killing Cleo, for everything. He wouldn't even understand what she's sorry for. On Hermitcraft she has to see the people she killed. Bdubs is right there, alive and okay, and all she can think of is how she murdered him and Impulse in cold blood. How they killed her beloved Tilly, and how Cleo fell out of that tree trying to escape her.
She understands what Scott felt, his anger towards her during Double Life, what he's been feeling, and what he'll keep feeling. She only hopes and prays that no one else has to go through this....
(Grian is. Grian is right there, has been right there in the same server suffering.)

Watching Hermitcraft season 7 for the first time...
I just finished season 6 last night. It took me ages because I'm terrible with binge watching and so I just took months to watch it all.
I'm excited to move onto season 7... I have never watched season 7. I joined the fandom with season 8...
Wish me luck.
However, last bit of season 6 reactions I sent to friends!

Xisumavoid actually has something in common with Ranboo! We know what he looks like, but we don't know what his face looks like. That's where it ends though. (He never swears either!) We don't even know what Xisuma's hair looks like because his mask of choice is a scream mask. Which is metal. Speaking of metal, he's a big fan of music! He can play the guitar! And he has another channel where he reviews music albums! He has several other channels actually. A year ago he made a guitar cover of a Metallica song. It was pretty pog. Some other notes about the man himself before I move on: I saw another blog I follow say he has dyspraxia in their tags of an ask. There wasn't a source for that and I haven't confirmed that for myself yet. Xisuma sometimes says words differently and that might be why. He's apparently also quite fit, he exercises regularly.
HermitCraft wise, he's the admin. And the origins of why is sweet with a hint of... something. I want to say sadness but that doesn't feel right. You try and tell me. When the original admin left the server he took it upon himself to be the designated leader and admin so that HermitCraft could continue into new seasons and versions of the game. He took on the responsibilities of leader despite having no leader experience. (kcjkfpfiyvtetdlvs SIR?! HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT BUT HE DID!! XISUMA MY BELOVED) And he's done wonderful! He's brought in/invited some great people and YouTubers, some who have left and come back, others have just left. Did you know they have their own website? Their communication is amazing, they have regular meetings I believe in discord. Don't know what goes on there but that's their business. And they have lore too! It's not like dsmp though. It changes every season, some apparently happened near the end of S7, also in 3rd Life, and is now in S8. (I actually can't describe this because I don't know everything yet, and also articulating this whole part would be better done by someone else.) There are also stories going on! I wouldn't call them arcs. Xisuma has a story going on that the evil version of him, Evil Xisuma (EX or Evil X for short) has a shop where only his cryptocurrency can be used to buy items. He wants to trick and manipulate the other hermits into buying his cryptocurrency and get rich because of it. Xisuma is helping him, although he doesn't know Evil X's intentions. I love Evil X because he's suppose to be evil but he isn't good at it. He's trying so hard and I love him for it. (Xisuma is actually playing as both of them, he's not having someone else play on this other account. I don't actually have Minecraft for pc so I'm guessing he has both accounts on the server and just needs to switch tabs. You can literally tell when he does it and honestly I love that. Dudes putting in the work.)
My love and appreciation for this man is through the roof and I will scream about it into the void of Tumblr.
