Vice Versa ep 5

I find it just a little bit cool - whether a coincidence or not - that I noticed a lot of black and white use in last week's ep and then this week's theme is Winter White...maybe I was on to something?

Anyway, this week follows a little on from last week, in that there are a lot of blue-and-red and black-and-white pairings, a couple of green-and-yellow pairings, and then some some bits of brown and even less orange. And straight off the bat, we get almost all of these (just no green...although purple is its complementary colour):

In the next scene - following the episode title screen which blends 'shadowed'/black areas in with the white - Puen and Talay switch from colour to black and white (with the black and white sign behind them) whilst being told "Your soulmate might be closer than you think. Pay close attention to the person sitting next to you." The theme 'Winter White' might be a commentary on Talay's coolness towards love and relationships (and the use of black and white showing how Puen's views and actions sit on the opposite of that) and so him in white here seems apt. Blue is also seen as a 'cold' colour (which I think is Talay's colour), so his 'icy heart' is probably going to be thawed out by Puen's 'fiery redness'...or something... (Incidentally, in this scene both Aou and Up have blue on, and Chang has light pink).

Then, interestingly, when Pang is introduced, she's also in black and white and even though Talay and Puen aren't in colour, the light behind is full of it. Blue, of course for Talay (with Dol in red) and pink/purple behind Puen. I think the ambiguity of the colour (some might say pink, some might say purple) is also a nod to the ambiguity of Puen's words and actions towards Talay...especially following the library conversation where Talay offers his real name to Puen but Puen still continues to withhold his identity from Talay. It also indicates the coming uncertainty around Pang and her role in both the series and in either of them getting back to their home universe.

And once they're at dinner, this background lighting continues - with blue (and yellow) behind Talay, and red (and green) behind Puen. I love the placement of the umbrella pole, separating Puen and Pang on one side and Talay on the other, a visual representation of how Talay feels in this moment.

On the film set, we get more small blue and red details in the background...and Puen and Talay again in black and white but this time also with brown. If the show is continuing with the connection of brown with "seriousness", then I'm hoping it shows that the affection Puen has towards Talay is genuine. Notice also the random yellow objects in the background - the ladder and the cloth someone is folding - it was during this scene that I suddenly wondered whether the yellow and green pairings were actually just a nod towards the Oishi tea product placements. That would be hilarious if so!

Red-and-blue and black-and-white also showed up in the association (with a pop of brown maybe to indicate the seriousness of the recently-returned man's predicament and the reality of the consequences of the universe/body swap)...

...as well as in the four suits of the four friends - Up and Aou's trousers are white, Puen and Talay's black, and I think Up's jacket is a navy blue with red stripes (I actually wonder if I've seen someone wearing it before...), plus the blue seats. These four looked fantastic. This is how to colour co-ordinate with friends! (Dol and Jubjaeng also looked incredible!)

Then, towards the end, brown came back a little more (with Puen and Talay in the cinema) and Up and Aou bringing the blue and red. The orange hat also returned, and with black and white still featuring. All of this echoed back to the colours in the first scene, which is poignant since this is when they decided/realised that the Friend Credits group would be splitting up.

And in the last scene, the emphasis feels more towards the yellow/beige/ochre colours (although there are still small elements of red and blue [up's sweater and phone and Aou's t-shirt] and black and white [Puen's t-shirt and Up's hat]). It's this and some of the colours in the ep 6 preview that makes me want to make another prediction (even though I might be wrong) that I think next week's ep will be a shade in the region of yellow/ochre/beige/brown...we'll see!

OK. So. Knowing I'm a dom I don't really like sub reader. Not from any like, moral stand point, just from a "this is not For Me" stand point. Which is why I don't really engage with it a lot, but some times I do read a few sub!reader fics either because the writer is so good I'm willing to read something I usually don't like, or because they didn't tag their fic correctly and if I already start a fic why not finish it? Or because they did label it correctly and I'm just a dumbass that didn't notice the tag.

Anyway, so some times I read a sub!reader fic. And it's kind of weird, because I feel certain emotions that the author absolutely did not intend for the reader to feel, and I can't help but wonder who sub readers feel when they read dom!reader content.

OK so for example. Some times when I read sub!reader content I get a little... angry? Is that the right word? Like offended that someone would treat me that way. Like hello sir, I am not a slut! You shut ya mouth! I guess there's also there's preceded ignoring of consent. Because like, *I'm* a dom, and the pronouns used in x reader fics are you/yourself, so when a character is being all dommy, shoving the reader against walls and ripping there clothing off, I'm like "Wait no cut that out I wouldn't let someone do that to me".

Which I know isn't what the author is trying to convey! They're not trying to write something rapey, when you go into a sub!reader fic you're only in with the knowledge you're giving up that control for a dom to take. Listen I'm not trying to kinkshame lol, doms need subs to well, dom lol. I just wanted to explain my feelings to those who are curious what a dom might feel feel while reading a sub!reader fic.

So I gotta ask, because the curiosity has been eating me alive, how do subs feel when they read dom!reader fics? Like, I can see for a dom there's the preceded lack of consent, because dom/sub relationships are about control, and having that control taken away from you when you're a dom would feel Not Good.

Is it a "oh no, we're both bottoms" situation? Is it frustrating because you want them to get up and fuck you up? Is it a "wow, I would never ever do this to another person" sort of thing?

(Oh, any doms out there can add there two cents about sub!reader stuff too. I'm really interested about other folks opinions on this!)

Hi Caco!! Thank you so much for answering all of these asks you’ve been getting and I’m sorry to add one more 😅

I was wondering if you had any tips for engaging more with fandom content besides reblogging with tags and comments. I’m not the greatest at doing that but I’m definitely working on it. And I want to try to get more involved as much as I’m able to.

I’m a writer mostly and definitely can’t draw people so it’s been a little hard for me to put myself out there besides joining big discord’s (which are a lot of fun and I have met some cool people and friends on there).

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love your art and you as well as @leeleebee @alamogirl80 @anstarwar @cobaltbeam and @three-fold-symmetry have inspired me to start trying to draw again. I’ve made a few fun designs on Paint and I’m thinking of putting a few on Redbubble just for fun. I love art and I love seeing your wips and how a piece is developed. Plus all of your stories. I wish I could write long fics and world build half as well as you. Anyway, I just really admire you and thank you for being a bright spot in the fandom and making this little corner more enjoyable for everyone.

Aw, no, thank you for the ask! They are a bit time consuming because they all make great points and I think about my replies for a while, but I don't mind!

Hm, I dunno! Personally, I really love screamy tags, haha, but I don't usually reply to those. I do reply to all the comments I get on Tumblr and AO3, so maybe that's more the type of engagement you're talking about? Other people might feel differently though (if anyone has any tips, maybe comment and anon might see them? <3).

I've always been a fandom artist, until less than a year ago when I started writing, so I really don't know what it's like to not get the kind of attention that art tends to get (versus writing) on Tumblr. But I imagine it's a lot harder to encourage interaction on here if you don't post art. That said, there are quite a few folks I know on here who either don't create content, or only write (and of course I don't say 'only' in a belittling way, as I personally value writing over visual art, but anyway), but because I read their tags or they comment on my stuff, when I see their usernames I'm like, "MY FRIEND!" XD

As or discord, I have trouble engaging on big servers because I just can't keep track of constantly changing usernames and conversations and 50 channels blargh. What's been really great for me is having a tiny little server with just some close friends - but of course, you have to find your people, first, which can be hard.

I'm totally rambling now, but if anyone has advice, again, please comment!

Okay so now I'm just going to scream incoherently about that last paragraph you wrote! T___T Too kind!! I'm in such good company... *sobbing* Seriously though, when I read this ask before bed last night I got teary eyed, haha.

I know visual art isn't for everyone but it makes me so happy when people are willing to try, even though we all suck when we start out and it's frustrating as hell most of the time, haha. But if you enjoy it enough to push through the frustration, then that's great! <3

ghakgh;rkg as for writing, I literally wrote one crap fic in... idk maybe 2001? And I never wrote fiction again until a little less than a year ago. So while I still have no idea what I'm doing, I can confidently say that, a year ago, I was telling friends, "I wish I could write long fics and world build half as well as you." And I'm sure I still don't, but I'm doing it and enjoying it, so :D

This is getting ridiculously long, but I just have to say that without all the nice people in the fandom, I wouldn't bother with it at all! So I share credit with you and every other lovely person in our little corner. <3333

• I'm a 25-year-old digital artist who's technically a veteran roleplayer, as I have been making characters and roleplaying since my wee middle school years!

• I usually try to match what you write, but sometimes I go overboard! I just really like to write; if I end up writing ten paragraphs, you by NO MEANS have to match that! Go to your own pace; contrary to popular belief, I will NOT be upset if you don't write the same anount as I do! xD

I know, I know. No one likes rules, but given the bad experiences I've had in the past, I need to lay down some rules.

• First of all, no hate. What-so-ever. I don't care if you don't like me, my character(s), someone I roleplay with, a character I interact with, or if there's oc x canon content on my blog; hate will NOT be tolerated. Also there's nothing wrong with oc x canon; y'all just want to normalize bullying through silly, trivial things. :)

• I have anonymous asks on currently. If people abuse this and harass me or make me feel uncomfortable through it, anon asks WILL be turned off permanently. No exceptions.

• If I follow your blog on my main account, that means I want to roleplay with you at some point! I'm just very shy. ;; I am open to roleplaying with both RDR OCs and Non-Fandom OCs! I love AUs and fully welcome them as well! I am Crossover friendly, and Multi-ship friendly as well! 🍀

• Do not rush me to reply. I understand being excited about a roleplay and wanting it to continue asap, but please understand that I suffer from severe depression and some days, I just don't wanna reply. I will get to it when I get to it. I promise. ❤ If you have any concerns about if I got your reply, if I'm still interested in the roleplay, or just want to check in, that's a-okay! I understand that Tumblr can sometimes be fickle and doesn't always send notifications, so I'm okay with folks checking in! All I'm asking is for y'all to not be forceful, pushy, or demanding. I've dealt with this before in the past and it is not a nice feeling. :(

• I sometimes drop roleplays because I am a poophead and I'm either feeling the Big Sad, I genuinely forgot, or because I just sometimes lose interest/don't know how to continue the plot. • Upon our first roleplay, please assume that our characters have not met, even if you've seen me interact with another version of your character on someone else's blog; I treat each roleplaying blog as their own character, so if I have not interacted with your blog before, then it's to be assumed that our characters have not met! Unless we have previously discussed this matter, of course. xD

• You don't need to discuss a plot with me beforehand; if you want to send a starter out of nowhere, go ahead! Just please nothing that would make me uncomfortable. I also reblog a ton of sentence starters, which can be used at any time!!! ❤ Doesn't matter how long ago I reblogged it; if it's on my page, it's good to go!

• Nothing extremely NSFW please. I'll answer some more 'risky' questions, but if you're specifically looking for ERPs and straight up porn, I'm not your girl. That kind of stuff makes me very uncomfortable. I'll imply it happened if plot comes to it, but I'm not gonna sit there and write it out and upset myself. Sorry, but no. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE UNDERAGE. I will not hesitate to block you if you're underage and are trying to get me to ERP with you; I'm not about to get myself in trouble just because you can't control yourself. Blood and gore is fine with me and so are fights, magic, ect. Just do not God-Mod (making your character overpowered and making the fight unfair by always landing hits and always dodging attacks), take control of my character, or Perma-Kill. Severely injuring or wounding my character is okay though!

• I will give out my Discord to folks that I am comfortable with and have interacted with quite a few times with! I'll let you know if I'm comfortable with you yet or not. C:
