The more I think, the more it seems to me that Keria and Wolfe relationships is a story of huge misunderstanding.

I think it started from Rome. Actually, it seems to me that the events in Rome have greatly changed Wolfe's relationship with his mother and even with Santi. And maybe, what we can see in the books is not what they all consider the norm. And maybe, Keria and Christopher were much less tense towards each other. But then Rome had happend and thins become more complicated becouse to the standard psychological problems, the fact that they DO NOT SPEAK has been added.

Now speculation will begin, but for me it looks plausible. For Christofer it look like that: Keria knew what was happaning with him but didn't do anything. Then, Qualls has decided to stop. And when somebody started acting Keria just... gave him a ride to home. She did not make sure that he entered the house or that he was given help (if he needed it) Just left him on the doorstep and left. Ok, he definitely understand that she is the reason, why he wasn't killed. But the rest of her actions look like she doesn't care about anything else.

But this isn't true. I mean Keria loves son, she died for him, she found a way to stay around for five years longer than allowed in the Iron Tower. But it seems that she understands him really bad. In fact, it's understandable. They had no opportunity to communicate normally (if I remember correctly, the exchange of correspondence with the outside world is prohibited to everyone without exception). We see only one letter and we don't know if Wolfe could have answered it. And in this letter she asked him to... stop feeling anger towards people who have essentially ruined his life and stop trying to fix the system that allowed them to do it. (He still thinks that she don't care about his well-being. And if she didn't care about him, she wrote this to achieve her own goal. But in order for her to achieve her goal, it is Christopher who must change his life.) She doesn't understand his character and emotions, but still love him and acts in accordance with this.

Perhaps it was obvious, but for a very long time I could not understand their relationship (the only minus of a good relationship with my parents) and it seemed to me an epiphany. Now I'm sad and I want them to sit down and talk about everything.

day 2: AU/canon divergence

-danton lives !!!! my boy my boy

-morgan + thomas imprisonment happens some days AFTER they’re all given their appointments—this one’s mainly just for the sake of the center piece LOL i just want to see my trio joke a bit (said trio doesn’t even exist outside of my head)

little explanation for each piece below for those interested-

top left: right after their first translation, he is Unwell

top right: i love them both so i wanted to draw them that’s all HAHA

center: a couple days after they’re given assignments, they’re all official looking now (pls ignore the gold band. totally forgot until it was all merged together. he is NOT a gold band haha)

jess is ignoring the sting of his position, danton is questioning the acceptance of his, morgan is enjoying time with her friends because she plans to run once night comes (she’s not successful, thomas finishes his press soon after and so on)

bottom right: the one scene in book 1 chapter 5 on the way to the serapeum !!

Having feelings about the fact that both glain and khalila try to tell jess that he's a fucking idiot to be chasing Morgan, in Ink and Bone.

My preferred interpretation is that both of them are essentially coming from exactly the same superior 'I can see this and you can't because I'm not thinking with my dick' place, which is IRONIC given looming khalila/dario, but that Khalila is more willing to phrase it nicely because she likes jess and also values politness.

But anyway yeah my vague point being that caine warned us it was doomed from the start 😂

I'm once again thinking about that fucking handcuff scene. Wolfe handcuffs Santi and Santi's so chill about this that it can be assumed they do that somewhat regularly. Also "he doesn't bite, I do though" what the fuck was that. This scene was the best thing ever written and I'm not accepting criticism.
