Bright Holiday Wishes

Dearest Friends on Tumblr,

As the Northern Hemisphere slowly gains daylight (Happy Belated Winter Solstice everyone!) I wanted to wish a Happy Holidays to all of my friends still here in the Tumblrverse! With that, I wanted to thank all the different people who have spent time with the half elf bard.

Thank you to all the artists who have commissioned the half elf. You have helped shape the Bard Extrodinare and show his journey from a naive bard to the Nyborn Performer he is now:

I know it’s been rather bare on Tumblr due to the changes to Tumblr and the more recent shakeups in lore but I have hope that our stories can once again bring joy and fun to the Multiverse! Theren arrived on the plane that Ivegard’s trail had led him. He stood resolutely when he landed, his staff supporting him as he appeared.

He arrived in a small square room, less than three meters large, without any furniture except for a kaladeshi light globe. On one wall is a tall window, letting him see that he’s relatively high against a mountain, and the valley below.

On the ground is a brightly colored symbol, looking like a simple rune of some sort.

When he opens the door he ends up in a larger room, with a little more to it, if only for its contents. On his end, there’s five doors, including the one he just took. On the other end, there’s a couple more doors, and, more interestingly, people close to them. They were wearing similar outfits, a human and a kor.

As soon as they saw Theren, one of them came to greet him. “Welcome, Sir. Is it your first visit to the Haven?”

Ivegard was just discovering Kylem, and she enjoyed it so far. The guy she'd worked for this time had given her tickets to visit Valor's Reach while she was here, and she'd liked it so far. Everyone, both in the Arena and in the stands, seemed to be having fun, and she'd even removed her hood without too many adverse reactions.

While the one-on-one matches on Kylem were not as famous as their two-on-two counterparts, the crowd still roared at the display. Halona entered the arena sizing up her opponent. The purple haired up-and-comer was confident and wore a cocky smile as sparks danced off his finger tips. In comparison, Halona had left her machete at home, wondering onto the sign-up line, and joined simply cause there was an opening in one of the exhibition matches.

As the match started, Halona awed at how much time her opponent must have spent preparing for today. In a flash, he split off into three selves, two illusory hims sprinting around her while all three threw lightning her way. She shifted two of the bolts’ paths towards the crowds letting the wardens sunder them in a shower of sparks to the crowd’s enjoyment. The form of a boar quickly wrapped around her as she charged through one of the illusions towards her real opponent. He was quick though, dodging the ram, and blasting her from close range as he tumbled to the side. Halona had to admit her respect for him. He was dodging her attacks even as she fluidly switched through umbras and had he not tried to brute force his was through her defenses, he might have had a chance. However, she knew the match was over once she latched onto him with her squid umbra’s tentacles. Her umbra merged and folded itself into that of an ape and after slamming him into the ground a few times, the match was called.

A few minutes later, Halona found herself out of the arena and in the crowds, a nice sizable pouch of new coin in her possession. As she walked, it didn’t take her long to spot a familiar head in the stands and started making her way over.

In the din of the night air of Ravnica, a melody plays throughout the air. The music itself seems to be about two blocks away.

Poison awoke from her bed at home upon hearing the music. Somehow it seemed familiar, but how, she wondered. She felt the need to go find out its source. It sounded...like Theren's music. Her friendly bard was said to be among the living again from what Ivegard told her. Since she was awake now, she stayed in human form, changed into her smallclothes and a light outfit, grabbed her shoes and sword, heading out. She made sure to lock up her home with her beloved before going into the night.

it is getting rather crisp in my part of the hemisphere so I wanted to ask how do Dancing-Hands, Anedia, Lhur and Ivegaurd get cozy?

Let’s start with the easy one...

Ivegard doesn’t really care about the temperature. Her own temperature is several hundred degrees (centigrade) above ambient temperatures, so a difference of a few dozens doesn’t really change a ton. She can feel it and she eats a bit more, and “colors” change a bit, but overall not much. She’s pretty great to cozy up with though, fireside comfort that can travel with you.

Alright, now, to the rest.

Dancing-Hands: After a few years up on the Ojutai mountains and his fur, he can handle some pretty cold temperatures, but he’s also great to cozy up with as his desert-born partners have learned. Those tails of his can be very warm. If he’s by himself, he’d probably be reading cuddled into his own tails not too far nor too close from a fire.

When things get cold, Anedia gets to pull out the thicker coats, and she likes those! She doesn’t really cozy up much, but sometimes she spends a bit longer in bed in the morning than she needs to, warm and comfy.

Lhur usually gets to be warm and safe in heated buildings with large fires, but he’s had to made do in the wild before, with a cloak, his magic and barely a shelter. He’s big enough that he has a lot of heat stored up (which has come in handy with other people), but if he gets cold it’ll take quite a while for him to warm back up.

1. What do you know about this character now that s/he doesn’t know?

When her flame runs out and she becomes a cinder, she’s still the same person, just desperate.

2. What is this character’s greatest flaw?

Whenever she can, she tends to put the blame on others for things that she did herself.

3. What do you know about this character that s/he would never admit?

Related to 1. and 2., she was the one to decide to go see the Source of the Wanderwine, the faeries that were with her at the time only gave her the idea.

4. What is this character’s greatest asset?

Her capacity to link to people quickly often comes up, especially as her first interactions with people can be a bit tense due to what she is.

5. If this character could choose a different identity, who would s/he be?

She’s perfectly fine as she is, on the Path she chose for herself rather than the two she was offered.

6. What music does this character sing to when no one else is around?

She tends to hum more than she sings, celtic-sounding music to get her to move and go with what is around her.

7. In what or whom does this character have the greatest faith?

She has faith in her Path and all the choices it keeps giving her.

8. What is this character’s favorite movie?

I don’t think she would like movies, it would be kind of weird for her to have “flat” characters she can’t feel the emotions of.

9. Does this character have a favorite article of clothing? Favorite shoes?

She both loves and hates the cloak she almost always wear. It allows her to walk openly on most planes, but it’s also constricting and she isn’t happy to have to hide herself at all.

10. Does this character have a vice? Name it.

Mostly dried fruits. She also sometimes confort herself by latching to other people’s positive emotions when she’s feeling particularly down.

11. Name this character’s favorite person (living or dead).

It would probably be Elder Kindling. A retired Soulstoke with a missing arm that inspired her to try to become a soulstoke on the first place, the choice of which put her on the Pilgrim’s Path.

12. What is this character’s secret wish?

She wishes to never have to stop travelling, and given that she knows it’s probably not possible, to settle down as late as possible and in a place that she will fit in more than what she felt up to now.

13. What is this character’s proudest achievement?

Her friends. Well, having made friends over the planes despite how different she was.

14. Describe this character’s most embarrassing moment.

For her, it’s when she was overpowered and doused by the Wanderwine’s Source without being able to at least put up a little resistance, and her cinder state that followed.

15. What is this character’s deepest regret?

She regrets having wasted years training as an Inner-Flame fighter, but recognize the usefulness of the skills she picked up. She isn’t that much focused on her past though.

16. What is this character’s greatest fear?

WATER! And being turned a cinder again.

17. Describe this character’s most devastating moment.

See 14. and the subsequent pilgrimage to Omnath as a cinder.

18. What is this character’s greatest achievement?

Afaik, she hasn’t done very much that could be considered a “great achievement”.

19. What is this character’s greatest hope?

She hopes to one day be able to travel everywhere both because she wants do be able to do so openly and to explore, but she doesn’t think it’s realistic.

20. Does this character have an obsession? Name it.

Well, not an obsession per se, but she loves hearing stories and particularly what they mean to people.

21. What is this character’s greatest disappointment?

When she met two great Elementals, the Source and later Omnath, she was expecting beings of untold wisdom. In both cases, she was disappointed.

22. What is this character’s worst nightmare?

Being stuck as a cinder without any way to turn back.

23. Whom does this character most wish to please? Why?

Herself, she’s the one leading her own Path.

24. Describe this character’s mother.

Her mother was a Brightheart before settling in the village Ivegard grew. She has the same horn-like shapes on the side of her face.

25. Describe this character’s father.

Similarly, the man that sparked her life is a flamekin cook. He gave her her nose and eye form.

26. If s/he had to choose, with whom would this character prefer to live?

A bit moot, but if she had to choose, probably her father for the cooking. She loves them both though.

27. Where does this character fall in birth order? What effect does this have?

She’s the first child of her parents, and as such she always felt she needed to be the best she could and help her brother.

28. Describe this character’s siblings or other close relatives.

Her brother, Keart, followed in the footsteps of her mother and his currently a Brightheart smith, working mainly in some Kithkin village and once in a while for Elves. He also regularly trades with Merrows.

29. Describe this character’s bedroom. Include three cherished items.

She doesn’t stay very long in the same place generally, so she doesn’t have much with her. Her bedroom/guest room back on Lorwyn is a round shell with rock furniture. If she’s here, her cloak will be on the back of a chair, unneeded. On a shelf, there’s the small paintbrush she uses to paint her plane symbols on her arms, and to reapply them once in a while. Never lefting her, her implement of combustion can’t be far.

30. What is this character’s birth date? How does this character manifest traits of his/her astrological sign?

Uuuuh, Lorwyn equivalent of september 17th. I don’t think she manifests characteristics particularly linked to her astrological sign.

31. If this character had to live in seclusion for six months, what items would s/he bring?

An axe, her implement and something to do while she waits, probably her sword and some books.

32. Why is this character angry?

Someone did something very stupid out of fear of her, and/or used “it” to describe her.

33. What calms this character?

Positive emotions or ones towards others (if the people she’s angry towards have them and she senses them, rather) tends to calm her.

34. Describe a recurring dream or nightmare this character might have.

She’s standing in an open field, on a crossroads. Behind her, two roads and in front of her, one. She knows she must progress, she can’t not walk. As she enters the path, she crosses vegetation and it starts to burn, spreading to the fields around. As she goes forward, the field behind her burns, the fire taking it over. She only notices it (even if she knew before, dreams) when the fire pass her and as the field is burning in front of her and around her, she walks into the earth farther and farther, as her cloak forms around her. In her mind, she knows the field burning is linked to her going into the ground. When the ground is up to her face, dirt slowly fills her body and snuffles her flames. She feels trapped and cold, and as her body stops moving, her flame snuffed and her body buried, she wakes up.

35. List the choices (not circumstances) that led this character to his/her current predicament.

She chose to go after the Wanderwine’s Source instead of finding another elemental.

She chose to walk away from both her ambitions to walk the path of the Pilgrim through the Multiverse.

She chose to help human ‘walkers she found wandering on Lorwyn.

She chose to go check new planes out without any idea of what they were.

36. List the circumstances over which this character has no control.

She accepts all courier jobs she gets from people she knows that meets her fix criterions.

She can’t control where her courier jobs take her.

She can’t control other ‘walkers actions.

37. What wakes this character in the middle of the night?

The aforementioned nightmare. Strong emotions near her.

38. How would a stranger describe this character?

A strange person who never leaves their clothes and have a weird, glowy mask they never take off. Those wizards, you know?

39. What does this character resolve to do differently every morning?

Where she goes, she tries to make every day’s travels as different as possible.

40. Who depends on this character? Why?

Nobody depends on her.

41. If this character knew s/he had exactly one month to live, what would s/he do?

She wouldn’t believe her fate to be that fix and would try everything in her power to avoid her death.

42. How would a dear friend or relative describe this character?

Keart: Always understanding and always on the move. I guess that second part runs in the family.

For other non-Lorwyn people? The fact she’s walking fire in a rock body is often enough. For others, the shape of her head is how people easily recognize her.

The fact she would do nearly anything to avoid becoming and staying a cinder...

45. Write one additional thing about your character.

Ivegard despises rain.

What other Planeswalkers has Halona met or know of?

So the list isn’t really in any sort of order, just how quickly they come to mind.

She’s in a vague relationship with @voiceofallmtg‘s Moiselle? They’ve dated and more and they very much professed their feeling for each other, but I can’t remember for the life of me if they ever made an official stance or announcement or anything if they are an official couple.

@circlesmadeofglass‘s Bica was probably one of her first friends I drew her with.

She’s on good enough terms with @isharton‘s Latir to go out drinking and hit on her dad and has shown up as a guest in their comic. By extention, I’d imagine she’s at least on good terms with Bom too. We’ve both done pics of her and Dorabella too, but I don’t know if that’s any sort of “canon” for the comic either.

She’s still friends with @hazoret‘s Ivaria even though they haven’t seen each other in a while. I don’t think we actually ever talked how well she knows Vaset although Haz has said they’d be on good terms.

She’s friends with @maris-solstice‘s Maris and @foxcoloredcat‘s Isolde to the point we’ve joked on how she’d babysit their child. Going off more of fox’s ones, she’s gotten advice from Haruka, much to the fortune teller’s confusion, and works part-time for Petra.

It’s been a while since she’s seen @bobstropajo‘s Alek. She’s probably heard he returned after his absence, but I she hasn’t stopped by yet.

Everytime she meets up with @thetalesofthereneverwood‘s Theren, she always seems to be a bit late on the big adventures. Although she was there for that one time he lost his spark and the other time he was two people.

She’s run into @niuttuc‘s Ivegard a few times, but I don’t think they’ve had a deep conversation or anything like that?

She’s stumbled upon @pepperstrawberry‘s Prisma’s place and I really feel like they’d get onto some naughty shenanigans more if they met up more often.

She knows various members of @inudono‘s fanwatch to varying degrees. Kerridun, Kirin, and Rildra are the main ones that come to mind although I’d imagine she’s vaguely aware of the rest by extension.

She used to go drinking at @asmund-scion-of-ice‘s Asmund’s meadery, but that has died down some since the before the war began.

For the ones she’s not super close with, their’s @gigasfanwalkers‘s Ajax and she went on a date(?) with @lucianofsamosata‘s Thespis. She’s run into @vens3rdraws‘s Vahn and his fiance niuttuc‘s Excilet on seperate occasions. She’s also run into @pope509‘s Zerriko and @first-interplanar-bank‘s Szadek once each.
