TDV ASK - choose one song, what are the BEST and worst performances of this song in your opinion ? (date/actors/etc)
OUGH this is a good one!! I'll go with Wenn Liebe in dir ist just because it's the first song that comes to mind for bad and great performances nfgdd
The worst one I sadly saw live, back when I saw the show in May 2022, performed by Jakub Wocial. He just seemed either completely out of it, giving 0 energy, or way too much energy in his movements that I was overwhelmed by and felt rehearsed fknjf. Didn't help that his looks at the time didn't work for Herbert much in my opinion. The vocals were fine but the rest threw it off. The Alfred (Vincent van Gorp) was great but didn't save the performance either.
The best one however is hard! Can I say the one where the actors swapped roles? I obviously love Máté Kamarás version of it (Vienna 1999) but my love for him blinds me to its faults....Same with the Kevin Köhler version. Tbh Anton Zetterholm and Marc Liebisch always bring the best ones, with Raphael Groß and Charles Kreische as a close second, they just both have rlly good dynamics for this song and clearly have fun with it, I just cant rlly say a specific performance hmm but I'd def say Marc in 2012!

Judas Iscariot, “Superstar” Costume (Sebastian Machalski, Jerzy Gmurzyński) Teatr Rampa Jesus Christ Superstar Production around 2018-2019 (4/4)
Costume design: Dorota Sabak
The top row, 2nd row left, and 3rd row left is all Sebastian Machalski and the rest is Jerzy Gmurzyński.
Costume Notes: The shoes stay the same from the regular costume, mattering on the year Judas’ shoes change but I talk a bit about that in part 1 of this post series. Judas’ “Superstar” costume includes white skinny jeans, long-sleeved white shirt and a beige hooded cardigan-vest over-layer. The beige over-layer is usually decorated with either flat metal studs, gems or little reflective pieces, I think they are most like the flat metal studs?/circles (seen first row center). Now  Jerzy Gmurzyński is the only Judas actor who wears a head wrap like fabric on his head. He wears it for his regular Judas costume and in “Superstar,” and while the colours may appear different I don’t think he changes the headscarf for “Superstar” I think it’s the same as the one he has on from the start of the show.
Trailer is on YouTube, behind the scenes interview and clips of the show is available here. Interviews with the different backstage people available here. The theatre’s website page dedicated to JCS is here and has links to files of the programs from 2020-2018. Sebastian Machalski’s “Heaven on Their Minds” is posted on YouTube by user “Małgorzata Machalska” and the video is simply titled “Sebastian Machalski”.  Lukasz Mazurek’s “Heaven on Their Minds” is up on his website here under the “Audio” tab. Multiple versions of Jakub Wocial’s “Gethsemane” from different years (2016 is the only non-costumed version) is posted by him on YouTube (2016, 2017, 2018). Interview with the two creators of this particular production, Jakub Wocial and Santiago Bello, is available here.

So I’m in “Tanz der Vampire” mood and I was looking for old Polish-version photos on my disc and decided I should post these beautiful pictures of my favourite Herbert von Krolock, because apparently they disappeared from the internet.

Broadway Experience 2018 – Musicalhits in Euskirchen
Tumblr media
Liebst, Conny Read the full article

Judas Iscariot, “Heaven On Their Minds”-”Judas’ Death” Costume (Sebastian Machalski, Lukasz Mazurek) Teatr Rampa 2016-20 (1/4)
Costume design: Dorota Sabak
The top row and the 2nd row is Sebastian Machalski, and the rest is Lukasz Mazurek
Costume Notes: While I do not know if this is the same costume as what they did for their first JCS show in 2016 or 2017, all I know is this look is used from 2018-2020. So it appears the pale grey shirt (unless they changed the shirt color for different years I honestly think the reason it looks blue is just from the lighting) worn under the hoodie is sleeveless with excess fabric pooling round the neck like a scarf (I mean it could be a scarf separate from the shirt but I’m not sure). I know it looks like the shirt has sleeves because you can see it peek out of the hoodie sleeves and cover part of his hand; however the last row right picture shows Mazurek’s chest which makes me perhaps it is sleeveless and the sleeves poking out is just decorative and to create an illusion of long sleeves, either that it does have sleeve but just has a gaping hole under the arm which is a possibility to allow for mobility (I just don’t think it’s necessary for this shirt but who knows). The hoodie is worn always open, but appears to have a functioning zipper on the front. the hoodie appears blue in some photos but I believe it is actually just grey, better photos available in part 2/4. In 2020 the hoodie appearance is changes to have pocket flaps and slightly different shape (will be shown better in part 3/4). For trousers, I know for 2019 he wears grey skinny jeans with white high-top converse style shoes (seen in part 2/4 of post) but in 2020 version with Mazurek, Judas is wearing light grey joggers. They have black draw strings and a ribbed patch above the knee and white/grey boots (seen better in part 3/4 of this post set).
Production Notes: This theatre first did the show in 2016 and so far every year since then. As stated before most of my information/photos is from the 2018, 19 and 20 run (possibly 2017 photos as well). This production does have a dancer who symbolizes destiny, (the woman in white with the white face paint seen behind Judas) for those who like “death” as a dancer in other shows like “Romeo et Juliette”. The people who made this version was Jakub Wocial and Santiago Bello. Wocial plays Jesus for every version so it kind of reminds me of the arrangement of Ola Salo and Ronny Danielson in the Swedish JCS.
Judas Cast: Sebastian Machalski (2018, 2019),  Łukasz Mazurek (2020), Maciej Pawlak (2020?), Jerzy Gmurzyński (2019),  Łukasz Zagrobelny (2020) [the program claims that Pawlak,  Gmurzyński and Mazurek were Judas in 2020 but other sources say that it’s actually  Zagrobelny  and Mazurek who plays Judas, maybe there were changes but I have no idea]
Jesus Cast: Jakub Wocial (2018, 2019, 2020), Sebastian Machalski (2019),  Maciej Podgórzak or Michał Grobelny (2020) [again another news and program discrepancy, the pamphlet says Wocial and Podgórzak but a bts rehearsal video says Wocial and Grobelny would be Jesus for 2020]
Trailer is on YouTube, behind the scenes interview and clips of the show is available here, this includes part of Łukasz Zagrobelny’s “Heaven on Their Minds” (it’s split up by interviews so I’d watch the full video). Interviews with the different back stage people available here. Łukasz Mazurek’s “Heaven on Their Minds” is up on his website here under the “Audio” tab. Multiple versions of Jakub Wocial’s “Gethsemane” from different years (2016 is the only non costumed version) is posted by him on YouTube (2016, 2017, 2018). Interview with the two creators of this particular production, Jakub Wocial and Santiago Bello, is available here.
I will say I do enjoy all three “Heaven on Their Minds” versions that are available but I think I prefer Machalski (probably like him best for style choices) and Zagrobelny, though Mazurek really has that emotional sound, alas I do not speak polish so it’s hard to fully grasp the performance. So if you have the time to listen to all of them I would recommend to do so but if that’s a bit much I heavily recommend at the very least listening to Machalski’s!
