just finished season 1 of nashville, and GOSH juliette is just my FAVORITE character! just! the way that her entire life she's been searching for security, and she's always been the only one who could get it for herself, and the way it so CLEARLY informs every one of her actions for the whole season, from the nail polish to the way she pushes back against anyone who tells her she can't do things to the way that she tries to put rayna on her back foot in their very first meeting because she's idolized her and what she has and so she feels that she has to take her place to get to that security, to the way that she clings to anyone who will validate her while at the same time refusing to share anything with anyone (because 'you won't like me if you get to know me,' GOD). and then the whole season, every time juliette lashes out because she has worked so hard her whole life, industry people keep telling her 'you haven't earned it yet, you're not one of us yet' and yeah she is an epic bitch sometimes but also they keep moving the goalposts on her too!

and then at the end of the season she GETS her female vocalist CMA, she GETS her validation, and it means DUST. because what was even the point? she wasn't good enough to save her mom, or to save herself from the pain of losing her mom that she ALWAYS knew was coming, and Rayna, who's been telling her all season she hasn't earned it yet, tells her, 'no you're good enough.' and GOD i am in tears about it all over again because Juliette finally lets her guard down enough to let rayna in, and rayna finally sees her as more than an upstart child, but as a woman who's worked and lost and tried her best and just. man. juliette barnes. character of all time.

Okay so I’m watching Nashville and Avery is such a hypocrite. He’s mad at Juliette for sleeping with someone while drunk but he was just telling his ex that she will “always have a permanent piece of his heart”. That’s worse. Mind you he fucked somebody while he was with Scarlett. And I’m mad a Juliette for not telling his dumb ass that she heard him say that to her. She sat there and saw him hold hands with Scarlett’s annoying ass (god I hate her) while she said “I’ll never love anyone as much as I love you”. Idc how you cut it, cheating is wrong, however emotional cheating is miles worse. And he definitely did that.
