#Konoha manipulated and abused Itachi for their genocidal ends
Text
It is always "Fugaku is abusive for sending a child to spy on the village" and never "Konoha is abusive for sending a child to assasination missions, having him spying his own kind and extorting him into betraying his family and commiting a genocide".

Hot takes Naruto edition
1) Sasuke and Sakura would have both made better main characters than Naruto 2) Itachi’s an awful brother 3) And a hypernationalist war criminal 4) Who became so because he was a traumatized child manipulated into a fascist government. He’s a tragedy, not some super badass self insert to wank about. 5) Kurenai gets way too much hate for dumb stuff and deserved better than to be Asuma’s baby machine 6) Konoha’s fascist and should have been treated as such 7) As should the Hidden Village system in general 8) Gaara was a boring character in Shippuden and afterwards 9) Ino’s amazing and deserved more screen time 10) Kakashi’s a bootlicker 11) Hinata was complacent in her family’s slavery and did nothing to change it 12) The fact that an actual swing got more screen time than Tenten is unforgivable 13) Karin shouldn’t have liked Sasuke 14) Naruto’s a nationalist, genocide complacent, manipulative asshole 15) He also sexually assaulted Sakura on multiple occasions 16) Tsunade should have stayed hating the Hokage 17) Orochimaru should have died 18) Sasuke shouldn’t have come back to Konoha 19) Sai’s an interesting character but a bad husband 20) The Will of Fire is propaganda 21) Sakura was put on team seven as canon fodder for Naruto and Sasuke and should have realized this at some point 22) Kakashi was a clan-biased, awful teacher 23) Kakashi needed a therapist, not a team of emotionally unstable preteens 24) Gai was the only good sensei even if he showed Lee favoritism 25) Sakura and Sasuke should have been under Kurenai and Kiba and Shino under Kakashi 26) All the Hokages suck 27) Shikamaru’s cool but needs to be slapped multiple times 28) He’s also not very smart and a hypocrite 29) Chouji should have died in the war instead of Neji 30) So should have Kiba and at least two of the senseis 31) Konoha is also autocratic, a military dictatorship, and an oligarchy, and every member of the Konoha 12 sans Sakura, Tenten, Lee, and Sasuke benefitted from this 32) Sakura should have learned genjutsu and/or sealing 33) Hinata is a bad shinobi and that’s okay. She should have put her skills to use in ways other than killing people if she hated it, like ending her clan’s goddamned slave regime. 34) Neji was right. 35) Gaara should have stayed dead 36) Temari deserves better than being Yoshino Nara 2.0 37) Naruto’s a very shallow person who can’t form genuine bonds with people 38) The Akatsuki weren’t right but they were better than doing nothing 39) If there had to be Team Seven - Sannin parallels they should have been Naruto/Jiraiya, Sakura/Orochimaru, Sasuke/Tsunade 40) Ino should have been Rookie of the Year 41) All the hidden villages are authoritarian, fascist military dictatorships 42) Mei should have abolished the Kage position in her village 43) Juugo should have killed Orochimaru 44) Him, Karin, and Suigetsu shouldn’t have continued working for their abuser into adulthood 45) Yamato deserved better, as did Anko, and they both deserved to see Orochimaru die 46) Tenten should have gone on the Sasuke Retrieval Mission 47) Shino deserved better 48) Konohamaru is a whiny little bitch and he’s boring 49) So is Naruto 50) Naruto is a tragedy and Konoha should totally fall in Boruto

do people realise that just because you love someone, it doesn’t take away the fact that they’re still abusive and did more harm than good? loving someone doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily treat them well.
itachi says his loved sasuke but still killed his parents, mentally tortured him and manipulated him into living a life of revenge, hatred and a need for power that put him in danger so many times. he says it’s so he knows sasuke will survive—he genuinely believes he’s protecting sasuke. that however doesn’t take away the fact that he still hurt and traumatised him so deeply. itachi ruined his mental state all so his brother could supposedly live a life that he deems to be the most fitting—a shinobi for konoha because he’s “safe” there. he was even willing to brainwash him with kotoamatsukami to achieve that if his brother dared fight against the village that ordered the death of his clan.
itachi says his loves sasuke but out of everyone, he inflicted the most trauma, pain and damage upon him. almost all of sasuke’s suffering is because of his brother’s actions where he believes all of the pain will be worth it in the end (it’s not, it never will be.) i’m tired of seeing people label itachi as a good brother all because “he actually loved him in the end and did everything for him.” torture is still torture, genocide is still genocide.

I honestly think Itachi was bad person overall. I mean he sneerful looked down on his Clan’s desire to rebel against the system that opposed them, choose to commit Genocide of his own choice ( he had multiple options and still choose genocide), and repeatedly abused Sasuke for his own selfish ends and desire. And at the end of day, never truly admitted he was wrong or Konoha was at fault.
Itachi is an inconsistent character through and through, the dichotomy of him loving Sasuke more than anything and still being loyal to Konoha is such a contradiction that it makes my head hurt. He murdered his entire family despite many of them probably not even being on the coup, turned a blind eye to the reasons they wanted to rebel, and left the only person he toxically loved in the same place that mistreated, judged, and later murdered people exactly like Sasuke. He fleed the village entrusting his brother’s protection to a man that turned a blind eye to his people discontent, slavery, and later on annihilation, fully aware that this was the same man that allowed Danzo to stay in the position he was in, and that pretty much allowed Orochimaru to experiment with clanless children.
What peace did Konoha bring to those who composed it? What kind of ‘we are all in this together’ mumble-jumble pill did he swallow to still believe Konoha had just the greater good in its foundations? He had seen the exact worse Konoha’s rulers are willing to go in order to stay in power but somehow he still trusts their judgment when it comes to protecting Sasuke? And he was supposed to be smart? Let’s allow ourselves to doubt Itachi’s state during the massacre, let’s allow him his defense, he was manipulated by both the Will of Fire and Danzo, let's give him that. Now,
When Sasuke fled the village, it hadn't occurred to Itachi that, oh, maybe it wasn’t that good of a plan to push my brother to a mental breakdown repeatedly and telling him to achieve power and cut ties with his friends because, well, that’s exactly what he did? And somehow Konoha isn’t at fault for not providing a safe environment so Sasuke wouldn’t turn his back on them, essentially breaking the promise they swore Itachi to keep?! And he’s still loyal to them?! WHY?! And he still thinks what he did was OKAY because it was for the greater good but oh Naruto I’m fully on your side what Sasuke is trying to do is completely EXCESSIVE, how could he want to kill just the FIVE PEOPLE in power and responsible for repeating the same cycle that pushed my family to want a coup?! And somehow I’m redeemable but my brother isn’t?! And somehow the fact that I trust YOU isn’t a red flag because I repeatedly abused my brother to impose what I THOUGHT was best for him through killing and physical and mental torture? To the point Sasuke naturalized that abuse and stopped fighting against it, essentially returning to the place where our family was discriminated against and killed? Also marrying a person that, like myself, doesn't actually listen to Sasuke’s desires and decides what’s best for him, whether Sasuke wants it, or actually needs it? Who could have seen this coming?! Definetly not me, Itachi the GENIUS.

So I'm not supposed to hate Itachi for how he was in regards to Sasuke because he eventually admits he was wrong and changes? Even tho he literally abused and traumatized Sasuke for life? I'm sorry but admitting to your wrong doings and saying you're sorry is not enough and does not make up for fucking up someone's life. Itachi fucked Sasuke up so he could manipulate him onto a path of revenge because he felt like he should die by Sasuke's hands. He was selfish in doing so and didn't think how it would affect Sasuke. I'm sorry, Itachi did not give the other members of the Uchiha clan the chance to choose how they wish to die, he made that choice for them, so how come he thinks he has the right to decide how he should die? He should've died slowly eaten away by his illness. Itachi not only fucked up Sasuke as a person, but Sasuke as a character. What is Adult Sasuke if not a slightly altered version of Itachi? What was Sasuke's idea of a Hokage if not a person who emulated Itachi? I think Itachi is one of Kishimoto's biggest fuck ups, if not the biggest.
I think the one thing I want to say out the gate is no, I don’t think admitting wrong and saying you’re sorry is enough. I think all good apologies require follow through, unless of course like Itachi they die (or...die again? go back into the ether? whatever Itachi’s case is). Itachi had to go. He was already dead and he couldn’t just stick around with all the other dead characters to continue doing actionable things to show Sasuke he was sorry. I don’t think not being able BE THERE to follow through on making up for you wrong doings means your apology doesn’t count though. I just want to project more kindness onto the world than that would allow.
Next I feel like this anon is falling into two common traps: 1. of not viewing Itachi as a character also shaped by his own experiences and trauma. Itachi didn’t come out of the womb and massacre the clan, his views and experiences in life led him to that point. 2. that Sasuke, the victim of most of Itachi’s mistakes, forgives him.
Good characters are complicated, because people are extremely complicated. And abuse and trauma just makes people even more complicated. I think Itachi was traumatized by a war that doesn’t go well explained or detailed by Kishimoto, but I don’t think that takes away from the intended effects of it on Itachi’s character. Itachi is a person like so many others in the Naruto universe who fell for the nationalism of the world he lives in. Itachi was a teenager surrounded by adults that used him for their own ends. The Uchiha clan was right to want better, but to do that they used a teenager as a spy for their ends. The Konoha government used a teenager’s loyalty and trauma to convince him he was in a zero-sum game of peace in the village with the Uchiha clan secretly taken care of or an all out war with the Uchiha clan that would put the village in danger. An adult threatens Sasuke’s well-being to assure Itachi makes a decision to side with Konoha.
I think Itachi was wrong about everything, some are his own fault and some things aren’t. I think feeling forced into these situations made Itachi angry at the Uchiha clan and it would make sense for him to also be angry at Konoha, but Kishimoto wanted to hit the brakes on making Konoha look bad so what would have been a wonderful moment of Itachi realizing he was conned and wronged by Konoha doesn’t happen. I think Itachi thought he was doing the right thing when he wasn’t and hated himself and suffered for years because of it, thinking the entire time that Sasuke would kill him and it would be what he deserved, too young and naïve to consider the privilege of choosing how to die that he took from others and I think he died when he was just 21-ish thinking he did the best he could.
I think Itachi did everything wrong and got what he deserved for it, now Sasuke wants to destroy Konoha which is the opposite of what Itachi wanted because Itachi was wrong and fucked up. I think Itachi getting confronted with who Sasuke actually is as a person makes him realize that his version of “loving” and protecting Sasuke was wrong, and he cannot fix it or expect forgiveness but he can convey what he learned and that is that Sasuke will make his own decisions and Itachi will love him no matter what which is the true meaning of loving someone. Would if have been better if Kishimoto took that additional step and made Itachi realize Konoha was wrong and he was wrong to take part in the genocide? Hell yes, it would have been amazing, but I’m not about to not recognize the things that go right just because everything wasn’t done right.
And the thing about abuse that I don’t think gets discussed enough is that you don’t have to forgive your abuser, but you can if you want. Abusive people aren’t spit out of a pit from hell, they are probably someone who was also abused who fell into perpetuating that cycle and if we can’t recognize someone’s humanity and help them out of that cycle if they try then we as a society aren’t going to get better. That’s just my feelings on the topic. In relation to Naruto, I think despite some issues we could discuss like Sasuke’s need to glorify and martyr Itachi in his head, there is an element of forgiveness too. Sasuke does have anger towards Itachi too and recognizes of course how Itachi hurt him and confronts Itachi on his inabilities, but ultimately he can forgive that. Whether an outsider thinks it is forgivable or right doesn’t really matter in that regard. Also I think it’s important to recognize how Itachi gives Sasuke one thing he really needs that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE will ever give him.
So yeah, in the grand scheme of Itachi as a character I think it is missing the point and you are doing yourself a disservice to hate Itachi specifically for his treatment of Sasuke. It is probably the only character arc aspect of the series I find complete. Get into it.
Also adult Sasuke? From like Boruto or something? I don’t read/watch Boruto and I have an About for this blog that clearly states that I’m only discussing the Naruto manga, those 700 chapters, so anything outside that doesn’t count for my purposes. I want to stick to only talking about Kishimoto’s intentions for the series as he chose to wrote them in that main series.

Side note regarding the last ask I answered. I just want to say that Kishimoto’s character priorities strike me as very ... odd. It’s strange to me that characters like Hiashi, Orochimaru and Sasuke - who have done arguably terrible things to the people around them - can not only live through all these trials but even go on to be welcomed back into polite society while characters like Asuma, Neji, Shikaku and Jiraiya were slaughtered for the sake of plot progression. From a storytelling standpoint, it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that the “good” people are punished while the “bad” guys get off without so much as a slap to the wrist. It sends mixed signals.
And I know Kishimoto has this thing about how seeking revenge/atonement for someone’s actions against you is no way to live, and while I generally agree, it doesn’t exactly add up in the narrative. Kakashi told Sasuke that killing in the name of revenge is harmful to yourself (and he was right about that) but then he turned around and helped Shikamaru exact revenge on Hidan. The situations were slightly different, yes, but it doesn’t seem like Kakashi knew about Itachi’s real motivations so the contradictory way he acted in those instances feels off. What’s more, I find it hard to believe that Naruto would allow Orochimaru to walk away AND welcome his abomination offspring into the village after he was the cause of Sasuke turning his back on both team 7 and Konoha as a whole, started him on the path of “darkness”, maximized the overall suffering of all characters involved, almost killed his other friends on multiple occasions, committed acts against humanity for the sake of “progression” and also gave Sasuke the means with which to fall directly into the Akatsuki’s hands. Like, considering how far up Sasuke’s ass he is, Orochimaru should’ve been the last person Naruto forgave when all was said and done. How am I expected to believe that the laundry list of crimes Orochimaru has under his belt is somehow justifiable? That anyone could look at what he’s done and write it off?
Even if Kishimoto was making an argument for “forgive and forget”, Orochimaru never should’ve been eligible for that sort of leniency to begin with. What he did should’ve been so far past the point of acceptability that mercy was never an option. It’s not so much that the characters I liked had to die, but that they died while actual villains were permitted to lead happy lives after they eventually got the evil out of their systems. It REALLY grinds my gears that Jiraiya was cut down the way he was while Orochimaru got to play mad scientist with no regard for human life and then be allowed to run free, have a son and pretty much do whatever the fuck he wants. It doesn’t make any sense??
Same with Sasuke. Not only should he have been so far gone with the mental trauma of losing his entire family, killing his own brother, trying to destroy his entire village and everyone in it, attempting to KILL Sakura on two separate occasions and being manipulated by a long dead relative that rehabilitation of any kind was entirely out of the question but also why forgive him for those crimes in the first place? Why let him wander about however he sees fit when you KNOW he has a history of going off the goddamn rails? How is it that he isn’t punished in some way and, perhaps most inexplicably, Sakura still wants to be with him? Is the narrative Kishimoto feeding me REALLY supposed to be that any act of violence and hatred is forgivable if you try to see it from that persons perspective hard enough? It’s inconceivable!
And imma be honest with you even though it’s not going to make me any friends. Gaara is the exact same as Sasuke. He got off scot free despite killing who knows how many unnamed people and also reveling in the death and destruction he wrought. The guy had no business taking a position of power in Suna no matter how much Naruto’s healing magic of friendship changed him. Like, to be completely honest, it would’ve made ten times more sense for Temari to take that role but we can’t go around having women in leadership positions now can we?
: p
Good people die and that’s okay. That’s life. Asuma’s death played a big role in Shikamaru’s character arc and Jiraiya died like a hero. That is not my issue with Kishimoto’s inane drama. But it feels very ... hollow to me, knowing that the people who did legitimately terrible things were not suitably punished for it in some way because it sets a really bad precedent for forgiving genuinely terrible actions. Genocide and abuse. Human experimentation. The list goes on! And if anything they all got the better end of the deal - Sasuke, Orochimaru, Gaara and Hiashi - they all came out the other side living their best lives while Neji and Shikaku get to rot. That is, quite frankly, fucked up.

SASUSAKU IS FRAUDULENT
Sasusaku is a fraud
or how sasuke has been manipulated into SS.
I’m gonna analyze it through two POV: Kishimoto’s and canonverse’s.
 -KISHIMOTO:
let’s say he was genuine about it.
 1) He admitted in one of his interviews that he even wanted to write a love triangle (that’s just… wow) but ACCORDING to his own words, it wasn’t possible because a) this is a Shonen, and b) he had to prioritize. So, if you say romance was equally important here, you’re deluding yourself. He was focused on everything appealing to boys, i.e. just friendships, popularity contexts and fights. So, it’s only normal, that no romance would have deep development.
In this case, some positive and ROMANTIC-looking moments -no matter how few they are- are enough for romance in this genre. Yet SS doesn’t enjoy from such privilege: part I, team 7 is like family to him (canon), so Sakura is like a sister. He thus protects her as one. Part II -call it ‘he’s in darkness’, or ‘fake Sasuke’- but there’s nothing left of this relationship. The worse is SS went from sibling relationship, to nothing, to romance with a guy that never showed interest in such trivial things as being “attracted to girl or romance”, despite him knowing it actually existed.
 2) Kishimoto had only cared about Naruto, his MC, tailoring the rest of the series around him. It’s so bad that every fodder character, every guy from the “main cast” and every evil has surrendered their soul to him. So, once he’s given Naruto his fucking acknowledgement, nothing else mattered for the author.
Sasuke who should have been seen getting over UCM, mending, finding his ways, healing or anything catering to his mental abuse and this abominating genocide has never happened. Why? Because Kishimoto never cared. It wasn’t in his plan.
How can a real Sasuke fan be satisfied with that?
The fact that romance wasn’t even relevant to Kishimoto, and that he didn’t cared about his own creation, he just took the nearest short-cut possible, since ‘Sasuke’s chapter’ was closed to him the moment Naruto beat him.
Since then, he manipulated everything to suit their –SP & Cie’s agenda -Boruto-
Basic reading comprehension.
 CANON – VERSE
First, proofs that sasuke is broken and damage i.e. in a state he can be manipulated and driven to do something he doesn’t much care about in the first place.
He’s a ghost of himself
Tumblr media
You see there? Sasuke ceased to exist at that very moment. How any decision he made after this can is something genuine? He just surrendered his soul to the world. He keeps living for other people, putting their wishes first, since he doesn’t have any drive himself.
This fragile sasuke can easily end with sakura not because it’s something he has always wanted but, he’s not himself anymore.
Tumblr media
Here, he shows us that he’s always been inferior to Naruto and Itachi. Here, you witness a broken man who doesn’t have any more self-love or self-esteem. He’s lost. How is he that Sasuke who made choices because he felt it necessary or what he wanted?
Also, very important, is his dynamic with Itachi. Sorry Itachi fans but he accepted to side against his own family. He betrayed his family, so how Sasuke who is pro-Uchiha forgave a pro-Konoha! Itachi was the last link to the family he ever loved.
Obviously, Sasuke became someone who can be manipulated and everyone who can substitute to his family/Itachi can manipulate him just as well. So, no silly things as “Sasuke can’t be manipulated or driven to do something that doesn’t go with his normal way of being”. He hasn’t even a mind for himself anymore, lol. He deemed necessary to become another Naruto/Itachi.
Because team 7 became that substitute, team 7 can have a huge impact on his mental, and that include Sakura with all that pushing her obsession on him until he breaks. That’s his reality now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sakura confesses, he thinks back again to his family.
For Sasuke, nothing was as much important as his family. He even admitted that he had craved for love, and how he sought for a substitute in Naruto.
That’s back when his old family was more important than anything. After Naruto wins, he breaks down his final wall. What kept team 7 from replacing the Uchiha family, has been vanquished by that final fight. Now Team 7 is not only his sole “decent” connection but his only family.
Like he drank Itachi’s words, he’s bound to drink Team 7 words too.
By the way, why Sasuke felt like helping to save the world but then pull that bullshit? Another bullshit to end this too-long Shonen for Kishimoto.
That he had always loved his family, that team 7 took this place now, that he feels that what he fought for or thought is inferior to Itachi’s and now Naruto’s moral and that Naruto beat him until he had surrendered shows that he shifted his emotions from his old family to team 7.
Now he thinks he’s the worse person to ever walk on this earth when he actually acted like any other ninja. That lets it read that Itachi and now team 7 are always right and he’s wrong to think otherwise. Because he puts himself under those people he thinks are saints moral-wise, he surrendered to their wishes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s like a wound left open now. Every bacterium that ever existed can contaminate him. Yahoo!!
What happened after the big fight and team 7 reunited?
-Kakashi just keeps reading his porn in a shady place.
-Naruto gave up on him.
-Sakura kept confessing until he said yes.
-He has no one but team 7. This team 7 is what is left for someone who put connections above else, and once craved for love.
-All that is important in Naruto is to be pretty, cool and have super power-ups and whatnot. Also get married. You know, ticking everything on the usual bucket-everyday-lists without actually giving it second-thoughts. What? Friendships? Forget about it! Let’s just scratch it a bit and forget about it later on.
So, Sasuke pleases them now, and there’s no one out there to put him first or at least help with his mental health or scars. I mean, now that he isn’t against the Shinobi system why cares about him? Just know something: the moment you get married, whatever pain or mental scars you have will vanish without actually caters to it. (Sarcasm again)
  Miscellanies:
-The OOC of both to make SS:
Sakura went:

(Makes this face):
Tumblr media
to this:
Tumblr media
like this:
Tumblr media
and that:
Tumblr media
a) Sakura reverts back to her 12 self around Sasuke. Crying and repeating confessions. b) Her natural confidence that could have helped Sasuke is none existent. Now she acts like a doormat. Please go watch canon written by Kishi –she’s got little to no backbone when Sasuke is concerned. As long as Sasuke answered positively to her confession she’s okay with everything. c) Sakura who is a cheerful young lady tone down her personality to match Sasuke’s moody one.
Meanwhile, she never writes letters to Sasuke or even tells him to visit to see his daughter, but she wears gladly his Uchiha crest. See how SSS in gaiden is another guilt-trip session for Sasuke. He wanted a family and now it became a source of stress. Everyone, from Sasuke to Sakura, going through salad, everyone was apologizing.  Sweet love!
I like Sakura (she’s evolved emotionally and physically), and I love Sasuke but together? I wanna choke a teddy-bear.
-Sorry but Sasuke has NEVER showed romantic interests or whatsoever in anyone. Instead of ending like Jiraya or Orochimaru, aka with no burdens like raising child but travelling freely, he’s got now a child? What happened? How? Sakura raped him or something? Did he ask her? Had they actually had sex? That’s insane.
-In real fucking life, when a boy doesn’t show interest for any girl, he’s gay or aromantic.  Don’t even start with culture. Naruto showed interest. Jiraya did. Rock lee did. Heck, shojo and shounen ai come from japan.
-yeah SS is canon lol. So? If I could fucking take it seriously though, it’s empty, boring and with no real sparks or frictions. Nothing at stakes or anything one could write books about except their aesthetic. Just headcanons like Sakura opening Sasuke’s heart to life -when it’s Naruto-, Sasuke looking like a love interest from a shojo or SNS rip-offs…
They don’t match the canon, neither their respective in character persona.
So, only stupid people can get butt-hurt over the fact that not everyone wants to ship it or find it logical. You like it, ship it elsewhere instead of looking for trouble with antis or other shippers.
To summarize my point is:
-SS indeed happens because Sakura drives him -along team 7- to response to her feelings, not because he was “in love”. (It’s not the same old independent Sasuke). There’s nothing remotely special or admirable about it.
-Sasuke’s last relationships aren’t what could have helped him. Look at him; he’s still vagabonding. Even Naruto ‘let him down’. You think that it’s not Naruto’s job? Then their bond is cheap. You think otherwise? Then let’s admit together that Kishi mostly ruined it all.
I don’t care if you ship SS but how Kishimoto handled it and some extreme fans of his had me angry as hell.
I can’t believe I’m still receiving “kill yourself delulu fugly”, “kill yourself” and the likes because I ship a crack-ship, like wut?? Please come down your high horse, lol. You ain’t nothing special, neither is your ship.
