The conversation around Sasuke leaving Konoha needs to change. It's true that the in-story narrative by those who don't know Sasuke is that he is a traitor that betrayed Konoha. Unfortunately, too many in the fandom take this narrative at face value. But neither Naruto or Sakura endorse this view. Although they are confused by Sasuke's choice they both know Sasuke too well.
People talk about Sasuke choosing to leave Konoha...
But no one talks about how Itachi told Sasuke he'd come back to kill him someday. And Sasuke had very good reason to think that Itachi would target anyone Sasuke got close to.
Or how about how the curse seal would have killed Sasuke if it wasn't fully activated?
Or how Orochimaru made it clear he wasn't going to stop pursuing Sasuke? How long do you think it would have been till his patience ran out and he got tired of asking nicely?
Or how about the fact that he was found and targeted while he was in the village. The village couldn't protect him. Kakashi couldn't protect him. It's even the whole reason Naruto left to train, because the village wasn't safe enough. Naruto had people looking out for him. But Sasuke didn't. He is targeted multiple times and the village didn't take any action to protect him.
Yeah, Sasuke did make a choice. The right choice. He made the best choice he could make under the circumstances and no one-- not konoha, not Naruto, not Sakura--no one was hurt more by Sasuke's choice than it hurt Sasuke to make the choice to leave and live with one of his abusers. Yet he was the only person who offered to do anything to help him deal with his other abuser. It was horrible that Sasuke had to put himself through this second trauma... And yet the fandom has the audacity to make Sasuke's trauma about Naruto?? Or about Sakura?? Sometimes it really seems like no one in this fandom gives a crap about Sasuke unless it's to prop up their stupid ships. The fandom literally treats Sasuke like crap. Sasuke didn't leave because he wanted to. He wasn't being selfish or greedy. He just took stock of his situation and made the most viable choice he had. He wasn't happy that it was. He was willing to die for Naruto and Sakura. He valued them more than than his own life. Of course he wanted to stay. But he couldn't.
Ironically the fandom has compassion for Itachi for doing what he felt like he had to do, even though he actually killed people, and when he torments Sasuke, of course even then people actually focus on Itachi. But Sasuke did something that incidentally hurt Naruto and Sakura, do he's a selfish traitor. Sasuke didn't owe Naruto or Sakura. Yes, we see Naruto cared about Sasuke, but to Sasuke's face Naruto had treated him like he was a rival he wanted to overcome more than as a friend. And Sakura? He never started a relationship with Sakura. He may have felt guilty because he was abandoning his duty to Konoha.... the irony.
Sasuke lost everything once, and then he lost everything again when he was forced to leave it all behind. And it killed him. That Sasuke, the part one Sasuke who sometimes acted his age, he died. Sasuke killed him, so he could survive. It was yet another traumatic experience in his life.
That's the conversation we should be having about Sasuke leaving.

this is so so so disgusting...
Tumblr media
so basically, that was Itachi's plan: force Sasuke down on the path of vengeance to gain power, own eternal mangekyo, then he would put him under genjutsu to keep him forever as Konoha's slave, perfect weapon.
how can a character be so disgusting? like Sasuke didn't even want mangekyo, originally he didn't want to kill anyone, the vengeance against Itachi was forced on him by Itachi himself, through torture and endless trauma, even with Orochimaru, he didn't want to kill people
honestly, how does he dare to say he loved Sasuke. He never cared for Sasuke as a person, he viewed him as a tool and planned out how to control his whole life. Who cares what Sasuke wants, make him avenger, then make him protect Konoha
seriously so disgusting

And to follow up on my previous post about Dany and Sasuke, the main difference between the two characters is the fact that Dany is being written by an author who understands that the only way to dismantle oppressive systems is through violence, whereas Sasuke’s author doesn’t.
The shinobi system as shown in the anime and manga is cruel to almost every character that we encounter, from the main heroes,- Naruto, Kakashi, Tsunade, Sakura, etc., and our anti-heroes/villains, like Pain, Madara, Obito, even Orochimaru. It preys on child-prodigies to use as tools to further the broken philosophies of the hidden villages.
Itachi massacred his entire clan at thirteen years old, because the people in power in his village gave him the order, and manipulated him into thinking he had a choice.
Nagato Uzumaki lost his entire family at the hands of shinobi wearing his family emblem on their backs.
Our main character, Naruto , was made into a vessel for an ancient demon by his father a few minutes after his birth.
The shinobi system is one that operates on violence and oppression. How else can it reformed or disbanded, if not through violence?
And there is a popular misconception about Daenerys’ last chapter in ADWD, the violence she will enact will not be towards the people of Westeros, but rather the slave masters, who have disregarded the lives of the people enslaved by them.

Watching Naruto again and seeing how Orochimaru basically manipulated Sasuke and his dreams, made sure to put salt on any and every one of the wounds he could reach, kept blaming him for everything that had happened to him because yes, Sasuke was getting better and he KNEW it and that monster just needed to steal the child's body
Literally watching Anko, Anko who knew well Orochimaru, Anko who knew his mark's effect and how bad it was, ask Hiruzen to put Sasuke in quarantine because like i said, she knew how bad it was; just for him to be like 'nah, let's wait a little'
Like??? Bro literally giving an Uchiha to Oro in a golden plate--
And people still hate on Sasuke for leaving? Like Am I missing something??? Because to me, the boy seemed more like a victim of awful adults than a villain himself

I just had a “debate” with an Itachi Stan and it inspired me to go back on Tumblr again 😭 They were saying how Itachi killed the Uchiha clan for the greater good. I asked what greater good? And they said “Uchiha curse” lmao I hate Naruto stans so much like I can’t even take them seriously 😭😭😭😭

Asking cause I’m curious, but if there was a male character in Naruto you think could have been improved, who would it be and why?
Uuhh all of them lol
Jk jk lol
I don't think I personally could really properly improve any of these characters, there's just so much that goes into it. That being said, there are two that I think were done dirtiest
And that's Naruto and Sasuke. And I don't necessarily mean "improve" them, I'm thinking more just treating them with a little more empathy.
Sasuke is the easier one to explain. We love to meme on Sasuke and I agree it's hilarious, but in canon I don't think Sasuke is really given the chance to be a broken kid and just being allowed to be sad about it. Can't be sadness, it has to become anger. And that's mainly because Sasuke is stuck in a boys boy manga where combat = character development, so taking time to explore his complex feelings isn't the point or focus.
Sasuke has been done the worst by Danzo and the gov of Konoha, and I personally don't think he owes the village anything. Him becoming the Shadow Hokage just doesn't make sense to me. Let this guy rest. Give him a nice martini and a sun hat. Take a week off, Sasuke.
He's not then allowed to have proper closure. He can't go home to his wife and daughter and enjoy stability and support. He has to stay away so he doesn't loose his aloof vengeng!1 motif.
Sasuke's story, the severely broken and traumatized child forced to grow up too quick but is mentally stuck in the past, has since been done a lot better with Arcane's Jinx. But Jinx was written to be a character, not a vessel for millions of new abilities for boys to scream over.
As for Naruto This is gonna be an unpopular opinion but hear me out
I don't think he needed to become Hokage.
This has nothing to do with his abilities or his lineage or anything. Man's qualified. His motivation to become Hokage is so people finally notice him, to finally respect him and so he can have friends. But he didn't need to become Hokage to accomplish all that.
So, do I think he needed to become Hokage to be happy? Not really. To me it's less of a triumph and more an inevitability. I think Konoha's whole ass system is fucked and needs a major overhaul, which is what Naruto could have done just sayin
But this also ties into Naruto only really seeing himself as loveable if he's useful. If he just saves the village enough times, they'll finally like him and treat him well. I think Naruto deserves better than that. Konoha has a very "You're worthless if you can't be of service" mentality which isn't the cutest, besties. I wish someone (preferably Hinata) helped Naruto realize that he's worthy of love just for being alive, that he's worthy of being loved and taken care of too. That if Konoha turns on him for being imperfect, that's on Konoha. He's just one person.
It's a very Pixar way of viewing his story, I'm aware of that. Him realizing he doesn't need to become Hokage. But then what would he be? I think he should have taken after his first father figure, and arguably his most humble. I think he should have become an academy teacher like Iruka. He has first hand experience being the underdog, the one struggling, and could be there to encourage and support young ninja like Iruka supported him. Plus it gives him more time to be with his wife and kids, I want him to be the lamest and cringiest dad known to man. I need it.
But I know these are unpopular opinions for a reason. This isn't the series for this kind of writing lol
Anyway, I hope this was useful to you!

The fact that Itachi's sacrifices, Sasuke wanting justice for his clan, was eventually for nothing is infuriating. There was never any justice for Sasuke or Itachi or the Uchiha clan. No matter who was at the helm of the political affairs - Hiruzen, Tsunade, Kakashi, or now Naruto - no one gives a damn about Itachi or Sasuke, their eventual sacrifice, endless sufferings, because maintaining the positive image of Konoha, especially after the war, is more important than justice to one of their own who were unfairly murdered by the government, using one of their kids.
It's why the post-war Sasuke breaks my heart and makes me angry. He not only lost his battle to Naruto, he lost his will to fight and wanting justice for his dead brother who was brutally used by the very village. And now Sasuke has to live with it, he understands why Itachi sacrificed everything. He still has to live with the knowledge that these people are happy because his parents, his people, his brother were sacrificed for it.
But instead of fighting, he's given up.
I love and hate the resemblance between teen Itachi and adult Sasuke. Itachi grew up traumatized and hence mortified of witnessing another war. Sasuke has now seen the same thing that drove Itachi to do what he did. Even though the fandom thinks Itachi was there to protect the village, he was there to protect Sasuke and the peace of the village. It had nothing to do with the government. Sasuke is the same. And just like Itachi's hands were tied because of his experience in the war, Sasuke feels the same now.
It's heartbreaking because they both sacrificed themselves for the 'greater' good of Konoha. And no one cares about them. The village lived in ignorance in the past. It's living in ignorance even today. Sasuke knows this deep down but he loves Itachi too much to disrespect him and go against his will.

The Naruto ask! 4, 6 and 19
Putting a cut here so y’all don’t have to scroll because it is rather long!
4. are the romantic undertones between naruto and sasuke intentional or accidental?
I want to say fully accidental because Kishimoto just cannot write romance but I can’t help but think that some scenes are just… too romantic to not be intentional. The moon/sun theme, naruto saying he would die with Sasuke if it came to that, the cover art of them having necklaces with each others faces, etc.
There are just too many instances where they fit together a little too well, I mean even dude bros call them gay, which is a feat in of itself.
So, while I can’t say for certain if it was either, I can say that if there was intention to it, it makes the canon couples look incredibly bad imo.
6. what makes the Naruto ending bad?
I’m rewatching rn and am currently in the beginning of the war arc, so I’m refinding out that there are just… so many things Kishimoto ruined with the way he ended the series.
My biggest gripe of course is Sasuke. He is one of my favorite characters and has been since the beginning. After freshly rewatching the scene where he nearly kills Sakura and knowing how his arc finishes is frustrating. Sasuke deserved justice, he deserved revolution and his clan’s name cleared.
If we’re following canon where Sasuke lives, then I think a full dismantling of the system – changing the way the entire village worked would’ve been a good start. Destroying the leaf was not the way to go about it and he was intent on it because he was (validly) emotional. It’s a huge disservice to Sasuke and readers to not see revolution happen because it pushes this idea that the oppressed have to conform to their oppressor, it’s super nationalistic but that’s more about the entirety of Naruto instead of just the ending.
Personally for me? Sasuke and Naruto dying at the end of their last fight would’ve been a more appropriate ending than Sasuke assimilating to the oppressive village that committed genocide against his clan for “peace”. I’m incredibly upset that Kishimoto wrote Naruto not actually doing anything for Sasuke and the remembrance of his people (lets also not forget the Hyuga), it feels disingenuous to Naruto’s character that he “went back on his word”.
It was set up so well for Sasuke and Naruto to die in the end and to make them continue living just backtracked on both of their writing.
19. pettiest fandom opinion you've blocked someone for?
Almost always for disliking my faves. I just recently blocked someone for disliking Might Gai and some others for shipping characters I don’t like together😭

watching Naruto for the umpteenth time, though maybe only the second time as an adult...anyway the point is I'm analyzing it way deeper than needs to be and little Sasuke needs so much more credit. he is the only member of team 7 to actively pursue teamwork and like gets no credit for it ..? (theres lots of other shit he doesn't get credit for but this one is actively bugging me)

Comparing Two of My Favorite Characters :
Sasuke Uchiha
Daenerys Targaryen
PARALLELS
Questionable brother figures who became victims of their circumstances and eventually their abusers…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The loss of their family all together, with Daenerys never meeting most of hers, being the ‘last’ of their bloodline…
Being responsible for the restoration of honor to their family name,-Targaryen and Uchiha…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Secret family members, with questionable intentions…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Connecting with people who were/are in similar positions as them/they were…
Tumblr media
Now as for where they diverge, the perception of their family, and how much it is bound to change.
Rhaegar Targaryen and Itachi Uchiha are one in the same to me. Both elder brothers with good intentions but terrible execution of their plans.
Sasuke spends the majority of the Naruto series believing that his brother was a power hungry, deranged and narcissistic man who committed genocide on his own family in pursuit of a stronger dojutsu.
He learns from Obito Uchiha later on, after he kills his be, that his brother was a victim of the adults around him,-that convinced a thirteen year old that the only way to retain peace was to wipe out his own people.
Sasuke then declares vengeance against the Hidden Leaf village, and abandons his brother’s intentions of restoring honor to the Uchiha.
Relating this to Daenerys, she hears of her family mostly through her elder brother, Viserys, and knights like Ser Jorah Mormont and Barristan Selma. The memories they share of Rhaegar, Aerys and Rhaella are often hear-say or second hand information. The stories usually paint Rhaegar and Aerys as noble, while in canon, a lot of their actions (especially Aerys’) are horrifying. Daenerys herself serves as the antithesis of House Targaryen, she’s everything but nothing like her ancestors. I reckon that after finding out the works of Aerys, Daenerys, unlike Sasuke, will continue to rewrite the wrongs of Old Valyria.
To touch on another similarity between the two,- they are both the narrative heirs of the two ancestors that came way before them, The Amethyst Princess, and Indra Otutsuki.
Amethyst Princess - Dany
Bloodstone Emperor - Viserys
Tumblr media
Indra Otutsuki - Sasuke
Ashura Otutsuki - Naruto
Tumblr media
Sasuke and Daenerys’ approach is very different when opposing these two characters.
Naruto is the protagonist and the hero of the story, whereas Sasuke is deuteragonist. Daenerys is the arguably the protagonist of a Song of Ice and Fire, and Viserys exists in her story.
After her marriage to Khal Drogo, Viserys’ rage towards Dany stems from jealousy of her status and the agency she now has as Khaleesi. She grieves his death, yes, but had he survived, her dragon eggs would’ve never hatched. She wouldn’t have become Azor Ahai, the Mother of Dragons, etc. Daenerys does what the Amethyst Princess and even Targaryens before her couldn’t do, by restoring the balance between ice and fire magic through the birth of dragons, thus creating a new era.
In Sasuke’s case, Naruto had good intentions for him. Naruto’s jealousy for Sasuke was merely boy-envy. His pursuit of Sasuke comes from a need to understand his grief and loss. Sasuke does what Indra Otutsuki and Madara Uchiha couldn’t,-he moved pass his need for vengeance, and ended the cycle of hatred for the Uchiha Clan.

I love the Naruto (N Shippuden) anime as it was something I grew up with as a child. Naruto was my favorite character at the time and now after rewatching the anime and reading a bunch of posts on both sides of the coin. I can't say I like him anymore. Sasuke has become my all time favorite now he's a complex character and he was straight up nerfed at the end. I do understand where Naruto's character comes from and why he feels the way he does. Does not mean he was right. Boruto I absolutely hate as it destroys everything from the characters to the problems that should have been addressed in Naruto S.
Now on the N and S' relationship. In Naruto they weren't friends, not at all but they did see each other as rivals. Naruto wanted to beat Sasuke and be better than him because of the attention and skills he had. To Sasuke realizing after joining team 7, as much as he enjoyed their moments together, he wasn't getting stronger but in a stand still while Naruto the class clown and class failure who miraculously passed for the first time was surpassing him. FYI Naruto shouldn't have become a ninja if he literally failed everything in the Academy. Sasuke was not getting the proper training he needed besides the tree walking and chidori, while Naruto was actually getting a bit more training than him such as the water walking, rasengan, and he had the nine tails.
It isn't until later that Sasuke explains how he feels. When he lost his entire family he understood how alone Naruto felt, why Naruto acted goofy for attention, he didn't want to be alone he wanted to be Naruto's friend. But he couldn't bring himself to befriend him. On more than one occasion Sasuke sticks up for Naruto, protects his team mates, shows his caring side for others. But a lot of people like to say he is wrong and is an emo emotional asshole.
Naruto isn't selfless, he bases everything off of his own feelings and wants. Even when everything is shoved in his face, he still chooses the villages ideology or his feelings over what is right.
Even when he is said to understand does he really?
I dont know, but look how everyone turned out.

You know what will heal my heart?
Sasuke and Itachi stuck in a limbo like Naruto and Sasuke after their final battle. They both pour their hearts out to each other. Itachi lets Sasuke know how much he was hurting leaving Sasuke alone and having to make him go through hell. Adult Itachi's soul comforts little Sauske from afar. He watches over him. His guilt doesn't let his shadow fall on Sasuke because Itachi believes he isn't good enough to be close to his little brother.
And teen Sasuke pouring his feelings out to Itachi how hard it was for him to hate his brother. How every day without him was nothing but a world jumbled and distorted into something he didn't understand, so to make the world make sense he clung to his hatred. And hating hurt even more.
Sasuke helping Itachi forgive himself, telling him he deserves it. They're dead and they don't have to take the burden anymore.
Sasuke is free from the burden of being the last surviving Uchiha and Itachi is free from the burden of crimes he was forced into.
Little Sasuke comforts his brother because he knows Itachi is suffering. That's the only thing he can do.
