Musk reactivated the accounts of Brazilian far-right politicians Carla Zambelli, Gustavo Gayer, and Nikolas Ferreira. Ferreira, a Bolsonaro supporter, openly questioned the security of Brazil’s electronic voting machines, even though he won his local legislative race.

“All of these names have been problematic for years on social media,” says Flora Rebello Arduini, campaign director at the nonprofit advocacy organization Ekō. “They've been pushing for the far-right and election misinformation for ages.”

When Musk purchased Twitter in 2022, later renaming it X, many activists in Brazil worried that he would abuse the platform to push his own agenda, Arduini says. “He has unprecedented broadcasting abilities. He is bullying a supreme court justice of a democratic country, and he is showing he will use all the resources he has available to push for whatever favors his personal opinions or his professional ambitions.”

Under Musk, X has become a haven for the far right and disinformation. After taking over, Musk offered amnesty to users who had been banned from the platform, including right-wing influencer Andrew Tate, who, along with his brother, was indicted in Romania on several charges including with rape and human trafficking in June 2023 (he has denied the allegations). Last month, one of Tate's representatives told the BBC that "they categorically reject all charges."

A 2023 study found that hate speech has increased on the platform under Musk’s leadership. The situation in Brazil is just the latest instance of Musk aligning himself with and platforming dangerous, far-right movements around the world, experts tell WIRED. "It's not about Twitter or Brazil. It's about a strategy from the global far right to overcome democracies and democratic institutions around the world," says Nina Santos, a digital democracy researcher at the Brazilian National Institute of Science & Technology who researches the Brazilian far right. “An opinion from an American billionaire should not count more than a democratic institution.”

This also comes as Brazil has continued working to understand and investigate the lead-up to January 8, 2023, when election-denying insurrectionists who refused to accept right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro’s defeat stormed Brazil’s legislature. The TSE, the country’s election court, is a special judicial body that investigates electoral crimes and is part of the mechanism for overseeing the country’s electoral processes overall. The court has been investigating the dissemination of fake news and disinformation that cast doubt on the country’s elections in the months and years leading up to the storming of the legislature on January 8, 2023. Both Arduini and Santos believe that the accounts Musk is refusing to remove are likely connected to the court’s inquiry.

“A life-and-death struggle recently took place in Brazil for the democratic rule of law and against a coup d'état, which is under investigation by this court in compliance with due legal process,” Luís Roberto Barroso, the president of the federal supreme court, said in a statement about Musk’s comments. “Nonconformity against the prevalence of democracy continues to manifest itself in the criminal exploitation of social networks.”

Santos also worries that Musk is setting a precedent that the far right will be protected and promoted on his platform, regardless of local laws or public opinion. “They are trying to use Brazil as a laboratory on how to interfere in local politics and local businesses,” she says. “They are making the case that their decision is more important than the national decision from a state democratic institution.”

Though Musk has claimed to be a free-speech advocate, and X’s public statement on the takedowns asserts that Brazilians are entitled to free speech, the platform’s application of these principles has been uneven at best. In February, on order of the Indian government, X blocked the accounts Hindutva Watch and the India Hate Lab in India, two US-based nonprofits that track incidents of religiously motivated violence perpetrated by supporters of the country’s right-wing government. A 2023 study from the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard found that X complied with more government takedown requests under Musk’s leadership than it had previously.

In March, X blocked the accounts of several prominent researchers and journalists after they identified a well-known neo-Nazi cartoonist, later changing its own terms of service to justify the decision.

The tweets from now suspended Maldives government ministers sparked a fresh controversy as the ministers criticized Indian government, Indians and PM Modi through their social media accounts. The tweets were in response to Prime Minister Modi’s endorsement of Lakshadweep as a tourist destination.

Now, the Indian business leaders have come up with their doubts for why Indian tourists pay so much to visit the island nation when India itself has such beautiful islands including Lakshadweep and Andaman.

Radhika Gupta, MD and CEO, Edelweiss Mutual Fund took to X to state her doubts. “I am obsessed with the potential of Indian tourism…the answer is (1) infrastructure and (2) marketing. The PM’s recent visit has put the spotlight on these destinations. Our hotel brands have shown us time and again that we know how to do luxury like no one else. Let’s take the best of Indian hospitality to build a world class tourism experience,” she posted.

“Our country has so many magnificent tourist destinations, with unimaginable potential; yet to be fully explored. Can any of you guess this Indian tourist haven, just from the pictures I’ve posted?” posted Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute of India (SII).

EaseMyTrip also made an announcement stating that it is putting all the flights to Maldives on hold. “In solidarity with our nation, @EasMyTrip has suspended all Maldives flight bookings,” Co-founder and CEO Nishant Pitti posted on his social media account.

Many Indians- including sportsperson, actors and politicians- were outraged by the act of the deputy ministers. Several celebrities and people of status even cancelled their booking to Maldives to condemned the act by Maldives politicians.

Latest international economic world reports state that as Europe is bracing, soon to withdraw from importing some Russian energy products, especially diesel, petrol, and oil, many Asian countries have taken the opportunity to secure contracts for Russian oil products. With great instability in the world's energy market, Europe's loss is Asia's win, as every energy import country in the world now, has great anxiety about very immediate and future security about its energy needs. Reports state that Russian diesel exports grew by huge 84% in 2022, and that despite Europe's withdrawal from Russian supplies. And that's just diesel, but Russian exports to Asian countries has grown in almost all its export sectors.

At the same time, predictions from international bodies like IMF state that it expects the Russian economy to shrink by huge 6% in 2022. However, we all need to see the actual figures in fine details, when they come out early in 2023. It will be very difficult to believe 6% reduction overall of the diverse Russian economy, especially when profits, overall production, and exports, in the most important economic Russian sectors have actually grown, so far in 2022. No wonder that the Russian currency, the Rouble, grew by about 20% in recent months, and stayed solid and strong. And it wasn't all due to gold standard attachment.. it's much more complex than that. At the same time the Euro has suffered it's worst falls and is now so low and unstable, that it's dragging the whole the EU economy.. the stale bread and no butter economy of almost 700 million people. Talk about import problems.. it's so obvious that Europe has far bigger problems than Russia..and the comparison is so stark, for anyone who understands trading, markets, fundamental economics.

The west forgets that Russia has the best educational sector in the world, henceforth it doesn't depend on importation of brainpower, like all western countries do. Russian high technology leads the world in many sectors, despite western barriers to high technology. The western sanctions have actually stirred Russia into focus to increase its high end technology sector. We see now, number of new customer countries for high end Russian technology products.. and that trend will increase, as Russia moves into sectors it didn't focus on previously.. mainly in more detailed sections of its computing, defence, space, education, health industries.

The Russian obsessed western media and politicians argue, that the Russian economy will suffer such downturn as it depends heavily on western imports of technology. However, that is not true, and even if some components are cut off from western company exports to Russia, there are plenty of options for Russian importers to access anything they may need. Asian, American, African, even some European companies are more keen than ever to sell all they can to Europe's largest population, Russia. They see Europeans silliness to stop selling to Russian companies, as their great opportunity to move into the Russian market. Let's not forget, that most European and US technological products are actually made in Asia, Africa, South America. And these countries have control over all production on their territories. Henceforth, these countries obtain products at greatly reduced prices, and can sell them to anyone as wholesale 'middle man', including Russia. India, China,...Asia, has been trading with Russia for a very long time..way before the US was country. It's impossible for the west to stop these companies and individuals in these countries to export to Russia. Any propaganda argument about controlling such trading is false and designed to misinform.

The western media and politicians don't know much about Russia, Ukraine.. actually, they have never understood any Slavic country, even though the Slavs are the largest population of Europe.. and it's so pathetic from western countries to pretend misplaced superiority, when most western countries are populated by eastern tribes of emigration, like the goths and celts..both originating from lower Danube valleys, mainly in Bulgaria.. both living with the slavic tribes who remained in the eastern part of Europe. There is only one Europe, even when only one part chose a better way of life, Socialism.

The west has always been self centred.. westerners have never understood any other culture, way of life, way of doing business, cultural values and long standing traditions of any culture, including their own. The western way of being in the world is: 'My way, or the Highway'...barefeet, hungry, alone, and very confused.. whichever turn you take.

Authorities, governments, local communities and people should be more concerned about saving rain, fresh or potable water for worst-case scenarios, such as extreme heat and drought. We have had a creeping or silent drought in Europe since March. Many cities do not realize the severity of the situation. After several inspections and inquiries, we have found that many urban areas are not well enough prepared. We scientists recommend speeding up preparations and hoping for the best that the summer will not be too dry or too hot. The founder worked out an special fire and water protection project called Brandschutzkanister or Brandschutz-Kanister. It are water canisters you can use to reduce fire risks at home, work or even outside at risky locations. Since February, Greening Deserts have been calling for more health issues like mental health support, more peace speech(es), peace speech(es) and solidarity in all media - especially in advertising, mainstream and social media. Unfortunately, one can see that countless actions and demonstrations have not done much to maintain or restore peace - important aspects and awareness of certain backgrounds and causes are missing. The situation is getting worse and worse, as many of the problematic factors and multiplications, such as unnecessary provocations and sanctions, have driven the escalation spiral by many contributors. The media's complicity and responsibility plays a crucial role. Unfortunately, not much has happened in this regard to date 15-03-2022. This can be seen just by the hashtags like #UkraineRussiaWar and many similar problematic escalations, sanctions, pushing military armament or warmongering actions in various media. Certain interest groups, manipulated media, people and parties or politicians have even further escalated and worsened the situation - this is like poured oil on the fire. They have no foresight and consideration for the peoples of the world and people who will suffer considerably or even die under the said actions and sanctions - and perhaps have already died! This deadly boomerang effect is significantly underestimated as with the Corona(virus) or COVID-19 pandemic! It is once again the typical symptom fighting instead of root cause solutions and crisis prevention through sensible de-escalation diplomacy or language or real peace speech, disaster and conflict risk minimization, forward thinking action as well as sustainable foresight in so many essential areas - especially in ethical, humanitarian and social relation. We need more effective peace actions, peace speeches on all levels and less war speech or propagation of war in the digital or media space! By many of the hasty actions, provocations and escalations certainly many people have fallen ill and additionally died! Besides, the risk of a world war has increased enormously. If the world war and with it the nuclear war breaks out, this will be probably the last one!

There were several attacks on our pages and people, some help would be great - especially because of several Human Rights violations. To much violence and violent media is a major problem in these times.

It is sad that sharp criticism, inconvenient truth, logical opinions and charitable or humanitarian work isn't allowed on certain 'social networks' - we monitored and recorded many violations and dubious practices of censorship, shadow banning,.. and x-violations of social networks. With combinatorics, logic and reverse engineering you can proof a lot. The attacking, blocking, censorship or oppression of climate and species protectors, environmentalists, Human Rights and Children's Rights must be reduced and have consequences - no matter how big or famous companies or people are. Who protects the defenders and protectors?

Many questions to answer and problems to solve, we know it's not easy but it is possible if United Nations finally take it more serious.

Always remember, poverty reduction is no longer possible today without fighting corruption, or only with great difficulty - same for other global issues. It is now up to you as well.
