Il 10 Ottobre del 1988 usciva l'album #barcelona di #freddiemercury e #montserratcaballè. Oggi pubblicare delle canzoni che vedano assieme una voce pop o rock assieme ad un soprano non è poi così strano, anzi è diventata una moda piuttosto stucchevole e qualitativamente poco interessante. Ma nel 1988 era un esperimento assurdo, inconcepibile, rischioso e soprattutto unico nel suo genere. Una di quelle cose che solo i grandissimi sono in grado di fare. Il risultato è un disco capolavoro in ogni sua parte, forse quello in cui Freddie ha espresso al massimo le proprie doti canore, riuscendo a confrontarsi magnificamente con una delle voci più straordinarie del panorama #lirico di sempre. Sul disco circola anche la storia di come #lucianopavarotti non fosse molto felice della scelta della collega, tanto da aver provato a dissuarderla. Un tentativo curioso, se pensiamo che anni dopo è stato proprio Big Luciano a sdoganare definitavamente il connubio tra musica pop e classica con i suoi concerti da Modena. Today's #onelinedrawing #100emusportraitedition is loosely based on #lucianopavarotti #Pavarotti who seems to be Dylans favourite singer right now (he's not even 2 yet!) He just adores #nessundorma he gets excited, listens in awe, and always claps afterwards! and if we want Dylan to tidy up, we tell him that if he wants to listen to any Pavarotti he needs to clean up his toys first... it seems to work too! We've also told him one of the reasons Pavarotti sang so well was because he brushed his teeth and took care of them... this is currently working a treat... On this day, back in 1926, Turandot was premiered in Milan at Teatro alla Scala, the posthumous work of Giacomo Puccini, which was finished by composer Franco Alfano.

The story says that on the premiere, after the Liù's death and cortege, the conductor Arturo Toscanini turned to audience saying "Here the opera ends, left incomplete by the death of the late Puccini." And the curtain was lowered. *The following performances included the Alfano's end.

Around January of 1972, the gossip of Joan recording the title role of Turandot spread on the opera world, and on August it proved true, even with Bonynge disapproval, Joan recorded it. Here, an animation of the famous "In questa Reggia" vocal score.

Il 27 Maggio del 2003 #brianmay e #rogertaylor (annunciati ovviamente come i #Queen) partecipano al #Pavarotti & Friends, il grande evento musicale che per alcuni anni ha portato sullo stesso palco grandi artisti internazionali per duettare con #LucianoPavarotti. E' curioso pensare che proprio Big Luciano cercò di convincere #montserratcaballé a non pubblicare un album che mettesse assieme musica #lirica e #pop, poco convinto del valore dell'operazione. Il mio ricordo personale di quell'evento è soprattutto legato all'arrivo a Bologna di Brian e Roger. La lunga attesa fuori dall'albergo, l'entusiasmo della gente, poi le auto con i finestrini scuri che si fermano davanti all'ingresso e loro che scendono salutando i presenti.
