I haven’t interacted with the fandom for a bit, but now that I will go back to uni I can write and be more present. Completely stupid but I plan on habing more free time.

Currently I’m only writing and rewriting MalMage. It is an ick, I know, BUT they’re at Watford, and little. Not evil yet, so they’re alright for now:

I just posted chapter 5 of Cautionary Tale!! So here's a few sentences:

DAVID

Muttering curses at me, he stands up supporting his weight on my bed, and closes the distance between us. He grabs the teapot and hands it to me.

“Make me my tea,” he demands.

“Of course, your Majesty,” I tease. “Anything else?”

“Go fuck yourself.”

I love writing them being friends and teasing and just being extremely comfortable around each other. It's a contrast on how Simon and Baz were horrible during their Watford years.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

That I get to be mean to them and no one wants to stop me. Torturing Davy via Malcolm’s cock is something that can be so personal to a girl. Really it’s that they are the worst timeline of what Simon and Baz could have been but they did it to themselves.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don’t know if it’s an unpopular opinion, per se, but I consider my fics canon 🤣 also I think Davy has a weird chip on his shoulder about Natasha and banging it out with Malcolm makes him feel like he’s taking something else from her.

How I feel about this character

davy cadwallader is the diseased mouse i want to befriend. he's such a fucking pathogen. he's so fucking annoying. davy's hobbies include: being a goddamn nuisance. he is a professional inconvenience. why the hell is he dressed like that? nobody knows. yes, i think he's hot. lmfao, ok. but real talk: without writing an essay here (my beloved and most loyal companion @drowninginships can attest that when i really get started on my davy mage meta bullshit i just don't shut the fuck up about it), the long and short of it is -> i think davy blows chunks but he's so interesting. his story is so fucked up. davy is claude frollo with a robin hood complex, that's my favourite way to look at him. nobody in their right mind is out here saying davy isn't god-awful, right, but he's not as black and white as people make him out to be. the whole point of davy's character is that he viewed himself as good, he wanted to do good. but it was to such an extreme that he was willing to do terrible shit for it, and the deeper he spiralled, the more his vision tunnelled and the more amoral his actions became. he's a really, really well-written villain.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

i like davy and lucy. i don't like how shit ends, obvs, and i don't like the shape their lives take before that, but i dunno. their story is a tragedy. i think they really did love each other, even though it wasn't good. i think both can be true. and yeah, malmage. i wasn't into it at first, but then i started reading cautionary tale by @confused-bi-queer and it snapped me in half. rotted my brain to slop. holy fuck, it is so good.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

davy doesn't want friends. lucky for him, nobody wants to be his friend bc he sucks! 👍 but, headcanon: davy has a cousin named corianne he gets on with alright enough. i mean, kinda. he thinks she's dumb as rocks, she thinks he's an asshole. only one of them is correct, and it's not davy. but they have a brother-sister type thing.

The thing that gets to me is Simon has that sweet moment in AWTWB where he goes back to Watford and he can think back with fond nostalgia about he and Baz and what could have been knowing what he knows now. 

But now that he knows that the Mage was his father and the Mage knew that the whole time, he will think back to every conversation and interaction he had with him and have to KNOW that this guy was aware that he, SIMON'S FATHER was TALKING TO HIS OWN SON and ACTING LIKE HE DIDN'T KNOW. 

Like how much is this gonna fuck Simon up? 

Can you imagine Simon just washing some dishes and out of the blue he thinks about Davy emotionally manipulating him by telling him how much he "sacrificed" "Where is my wife? My children?" 

Baz in the next room hearing a smashing plate hit a wall and hurrying out to see Simon looking stunned at what he just did and Baz quietly asking to use magic to fix the plate and finish the dishes and maybe Simon should sit down?

Like how dare Davy invade my domestic snowbaz? How dare he invade Simon's domestic snowbaz?

Fuck the Mage the only decent thing he gave Simon was his good looks "The Mage really was dead handsome. Better looking than either of the girls" Agatha CO Chap 57 (which kudos to Rowell for making him hot but ruin it by dressing so lamely, like it's a great metaphor for someone who had potential but wrecked it cause his personality sucks, also some of the MalMage stuff going around makes some sense) 

Baz dresses Simon so he will never look lame. He will also comfort Simon when he has to remember what a complete asshat his father was.

When Simon leaves Baz, they're standing under the blinding lights of a too crowded street, surrounded by too many unbeating hearts.

When Simon sees Baz again, there are holes in his sneer and more anger in his eyes than Simon's ever seen.

Or: when he comes back to England two years after Simon left him in the middle of the Strip, Baz is exposed as a vampire and faces the consequences. When he stumbles into a pub to drink the bitterness away, the last person he expects to serve him alcohol is Simon Snow. The same Simon Snow who got his wings removed to cut off the last string tying him to magic and disappeared many months ago.

They're both hurt, angry with a world that asked so much from them and never gave anything but pain back, and still nursing an open wound shaped like the love they could've had.

Will they tear each other apart, or mend each other's hearts and set the rest of the world on fire?

It's Sunday and I have been writing!!

I finally decided to publish my MalMage fic and it's giving me a headache because I can't stop thinking about them and I just want to publish all I have in one go, but I need to rewrite stuff.

It's already received a few answers and it feels amazing, thank you so much. I really thought it would end entirely ignored and I was worried because this fic is a beast.

It has already a prologue and chapter 1, so here's some of the technically chapter 3 of Cautionary Tale that I just published

But hear me out. They’re just in Watford and they’re no t so terrible!!! Yet. And not for a while.

AND I gave Malcolm an imaginary family:

She opens the door of my room wide open. Mum and Dad aren't home, so Vann takes a deep breathe and yells at the twins. They barge into my room and start making a mess of it. I love my brothers, but Merlin, when they get a chance to walk into my room, they really do take advantage of it. If I were my sister, they wouldn't even dare to touch my bed. But since they have no respect for me, they jump on top of mine. And they throw the things on top of my desk out of it, and they steal my trunk.

I glare at Vanora, unimpressed and quiet bothered.

"Ah. Aren't they helpful?"

With the release of RWRB’s movie premier date, here are some of my crackish predictions about the worst way CO could be adopted into a movie:

They combine Agatha and Penny’s character and make her white, but Dev and Niall stay separate characters (also both white)

Fiona is played by an actress younger than Baz

Baz’s widow’s peak has to be CGI’ed in

Simon’s hair is blonde and not curly

Simon gets wings but no tail

The Mage is played by Daniel Craig and Colin Firth plays Malcolm and Christina never sleeps again because she’s too busy writing malmage for the rest of her life

Lucy’s ghost isn’t included

They never mention Professor Minos; a tragedy

No fireplace kiss

They combine Mitali and Mrs Wellbelove’s characters and never explain it even though they’re married to two different men

In fact they add in an original male character with no plot relevance, who is also white

Yes there is a connection, lovely! GTL stands for Getting Together Later in both cases.

OK, so Father Son Retreat:

All I have for this one is that Simon and Baz never got together in CO and the Mage did not die, but he did go down for the attack on Watford. In the meantime (say 10 years), Simon and Baz have not stayed in touch, Simon figured out that the Mage is his dad, and Malcolm has ascended to head of the Coven and done some questionable stuff too. The Mage has done his time (and also therapy) and wants to go to this magickal father-son retreat to reconnect with Simon. Meanwhile, Daphne is forcing Baz and Malcolm to go too. Rom-com vibes ensue, including weird retreat activities, dealing with Malcolm and Davy hating each other the whole time, and of course helping one another come to terms with their daddy issues. (No MalMage, though. Unless…)

And SSR GTL:

Post-Watford, Simon and Baz never got together, and Baz has a new boyfriend who looks alot like Simon. His name is Smith Smith-Richards and they met when Baz's stepmother joined his cult. Simon is investigating the cult for the Coven, only this time roles are reversed and Baz is the one falling for it hook line and sinker (or is he?). Lots of jealous Simon and talking about how Smith is a selfish lover.
