Also a reminder that in addition to the history of pro women’s hockey in North America, there are currently professional women’s hockey leagues outside of the continent that stars like Lara Stalder and Jenni Hiirikoski play in. This is a big day in womens hockey! It’s definitely the first league with the most funding and a CBA put behind it! It’s just not the first league ever. This should not even be a remotely controversial statement considering you have a former phf player on the broadcasting team and many players who were/are teammates to players in this league play in overseas leagues, and most PWHL players played in multiple of those leagues themselves

He's got the brains AND brawn. Ezekiel Jones, Australian techie and professional thief. The guy lived the Carmen Sandiego life before being recruited. Tries to act tough and morally grey but is genuinely the least selfish out of them all. Youngest Sibling Vibes are Off the Chart. Jenkins aka. the actual sir. Galahad from the Arthurian legend is here also. He's just some grumpy immortal grandpa don't worry about it. They're all just a bunch of nerdy adults who didn't have any friends or loving families growing up who find themselves living the life they dreamed about as children and it doesn't take long for them to consider each other, and the library, home.

I literally love how anna-karin's story is handled sooo much you guys bc like she does horrible things in the circle but I'd argue she never completely loses the audience's sympathy and like more importantly those mistakes continue to haunt her for the rest of the series with the trial but also just how she thinks of her own magic. like it's the most apparent in fire but in the key we get traces of it especially when she discoverers how physically strong she is. I think the most crucial thing about it though is that while her first revenge fantasy goes completely wrong she does eventually get her revenge on her tormentors in a way I'd argue is a lot more suited to her. like in the circle she essentially just takes ida's place and enacts revenge by treating people like they've done her, but with the trial and her making erik confess it feels a lot more like, meaningful if that makes sense? on one hand because it's not her just playing the game that got her bullied for her entire life and on the other because it feels a lot more satisfying to see erik forced out of his nice boy act in front of so many people in such a permanent way. like sure he'll always have people supporting him but he'll always officially be known for who he really is like it's just wonderful to me idk

anyway the thing about anna-karin is that I feel like she could have super easily fallen into this very one note meek kind of bullying victim character but there's so many layers to her it makes me crazy and I think the authors do treat her like the complex character she is. like she's allowed to be anything from kind of judgy at the beginning of the circle like in how she talks about vanessa and her friends, to completely horrible during her takeover of the school, while we as an audience still get such an understanding of why she would do all this and while in the end she's allowed by the narrative to stand up for herself in such an incredibly impactful way. literally character of the century idc
