Aston Martin Vantage V550/600
A Vantage Le Mans was the last of the truly hand-built Aston Martin's. Constructed with an aluminium body it was the very last model to be powered by the legendary Tadek Marek's renowned V8 engine. Built to celebrate the factory's famous victory at the Le Mans 24-Hour Race in 1959 when Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby took the chequered flag first in 'DBR1/2'.A very different car to a 'normal' Vantage, many styling updates included but were not limited to its front wing side vents, ducted bonnet, 'nostril' front grille, improved high-downforce air dam, while at the rear the spoiler was revised to incorporate the high-intensity and reversing lights. The Le Mans received unique five-spoke magnesium alloy wheels while beneath the skin its chassis boasted the kind of extensive upgrading, in the form of the ‘Driving Dynamics’ package, required to cope with the massive increase in performance. Aston Martin engineers developed a blown version of the proven 5,340cc V8 engine, twin mechanically driven Eaton superchargers being preferred to turbo-chargers on the grounds of superior throttle response. Quite apart from its already stupendous maximum output of 550bhp a special tuning program was offered to buyers for whom 550bhp was not enough, resulting in the V600 specification cars squeezing out a total of 600bhp along with further upgrades to the brakes and suspension.

A Green Alfa
Seen above is an Alfa Romeo P3, now repainted in British Racing Green, being driven by owner Kenneth Evans during the Crystal Palace Cup on the Crystal Palace circuit in London on July 1, 1939. This Alfa P3 had been run as what amounts to a works car by the Scuderia Ferrari in Modena during 1935. It has been thought by historians that this car may have been the one driven by Tazio Nuvolari when…

Aston Martin DBR1.
Aston sent three cars to 24 Hours of Le Mans 1956 and one of them, driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, took a long waited trophy. The car was developed very quickly, but it took some time until it became a race winner. The DBR1 made its debut in the 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans

A Brief History of Aston Martin in Formula 1
Tumblr media
While most F1 fans will know Aston Martin as the latest iteration of ‘Team Silverstone’, the car manufacturer had a very brief spell as a constructor in 1959 and 1960, in which they build their own engine as well as the car chassis. Like many British based teams their cars were painted in British racing green, which continues to be the team’s main livery colour today.
While Aston Martin didn’t score any points across their five entries, the team did net 4 top 10 finishes, with the team’s best result being Roy Salvadori’s 6th place finished at the British and Portuguese Grand Prix in 1959, and 2nd at the non-championship BRDC International Trophy in the same year.
However the team’s poor run of form led Aston Martin to drop out of F1 after the 1960 British Grand Prix.

The Aston Martin DBR4, originally driven by Roy Salvadori and Carrol Shelby in 1959
Aston Martin first returned to F1 as a sponsor of the Red Bull team in 2016, including a spell as title sponsor from 2018-2020. In January 2020 Racing Point team owner Lawrence Stroll took a 16.7% stake in the British car brand, which led to the decision to re-brand the team to Aston Martin for the 2021 season.
The 'Team Silverstone’ moniker comes from the various re-bands of the team that was originally founded by Eddie Jordan, who opted to locate the Jordan team factory directly opposite the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire.
While the various Team Silverstone team names could have their own post, the timeline goes as follows:
Jordan (1991-2005)Midland F1 (2006) Spyker (2007) Force India (2008-2018) Racing Point Force India (2018) Racing Point (2019-2020) Aston Martin (2021-)

The AMR22, driven by Sebastian Vettel during the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix
Since 2021 Aston Martin have used Mercedes engines, which Team Silverstone have used in their various guises since 2009.
Aston Martin’s first driver line-up in 61 years featured German 4-Time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, and Canadian driver Lance Stroll - who scored Aston Martin’s first ever world championship points finish when he finished in 10th place at the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix in 2021.
In the same season, Sebastian Vettel achieved Aston Martin’s maiden podium finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where he finished second. He also finished second at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but was disqualified after the race due to a fuel infringement.
2023 saw Aston Martin’s best ever season to-date, with Fernando Alonso achieving 8 podiums - including three in the first three races - which led the team to secure 5th in the Constructor’s Championship.

The AMR23, driven by Fernando Alonso during the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Their driver live-up for the 2024 season will see Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll be teammates for a second consecutive season. Their line-up also includes reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne, alongside driver ambassador Jessica Hawkins, who became the first female racing driver to drive a Formula 1 car, the AMR21, at an in-season test in 2023.
Outside of the team, Aston Martin are also joint providers of the Safety and Medical cars, which they share with Mercedes.

Carroll Shelby was born #OnThisDay in 1923 in Leesburg, Texas. As a driver, Shelby won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans (with Roy Salvadori). As a constructor, he returned to the Circuit de la Sarthe to shepherd the Ford GT40 victory in 1966 and 1967. With his big grin and black cowboy hat, Shelby brought a touch of Texan good ol' boy to every deal he made... and he made quite a few deals. According to his autobiography, "[W]inning the Twenty-four Hours was probably the greatest thrill I ever got out of racing. I can think of plenty of other races that carry their quota of thrills for the winner, but when you win this one it kind of gives you license to go out and tell people you're good, and that often helps get some other deals together." Some of those deals gave the world the Shelby Mustang and the Cobra. In 1965, the Shelby American Cobra won the International Championship for GT Manufacturers. Not too bad for guy who didn't start driving professionally until he was 29 years old! All photos from Revs Digital Library. #gt40 #cobra #shelbyamerican #lemans #revsinstitute

No Rest The Legends
I'd Present my tribute painting to Carroll Shelby win at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans; I've decide to add sound effects to make you get the feeling experiencing of going down the Mulsanne Straight at high speeds in the Aston Martin DBR1.
Tumblr media
My DeviantArt description of my piece is below.
"In 1959 the Aston Martin backed David Brown Racing setout to make history at Le Mans with the DBR1; Delivering the brand first win in the grueling twenty four hour race with a  three car team (numbered 4-6) comprised of the six finest drivers car no. 4 (Stirling Moss and Jack Fairman), car no.5 (Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori) and car no. 6 (Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frère). Behind the Wheel is a 36 year old American Race Car Driver from Leesburg, Texas named Carroll Shelby; Shelby has served an USAAF Pilot during World War 2, after the war he drifted trough various entrepreneurial efforts involving a variety things from dump trucks to poultry; Before finding his true calling as a racing driver for hire, Shelby is not only battling for the win but secretly for his very life against a heart condition that is predicted to kill him within two years. The Young Texan perseveres with the aid of a nitroglycerine pill that keeps his heart problems in check long enough to reach victory lane; Carroll Shelby has just achieved what many drivers often dream about but very few do a win at Le Mans, but his story doesn't end here this merely part of his final bow as a driver; He will outlive his doctors original diagnosis by several years thanks to advances in medical science, During this time Shelby will found Shelby America which would breath new life into the AC Ace with the addition of a Ford V8 Engine; Creating both the Shelby Cobra and Shelby Daytona Coupe which would led to his involvement in both the Ford Mustang and the Ford GT40, the latter of both would see his return to Le Mans 1964-1967 as a manufacturer thus making him the only person to ever win as both a driver and a constructor."
Thanks for Reading I hope y'all enjoy see this as did making it, I had fun making this painting and video as well.
