Tagged by @wishflower4 (I had not done been tagged before because I lurk on the internet like a pond frog)
And I'm gonna tag @makesometime who will likely get far more interaction than I do and may have done it before <3
Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason.
First fic published on Ao3: A Moment Eternal with @iguanastevens March 2021, just post Magnus Finale when we were sad and got into aggressive poetry battles on RQO
Last fic published: You're my delusion Jarthur Malevolent fic and also my 69th! So.. so it's 69ing.
Fandom/ship I only wrote once: The mechanisms, and I'm not linking it because though it's not terrible it's also not one I like to think about too often, Silver Tongued Devil if you want to go find it.
Favorite fic in most popular fandom/ship: The Magnus Archives is the most popular fandom I've written for and I guess my favourite is A Soft, Consuming Embrace as it was the first true narrative fic I ever published, John wakes up to find the Lonely rushed in to fill the Eye's space.
Fic I wish more people read: Hmmmmm, I'm gonna be cheeky and say the RQBB Fic I wrote with @makesometime: A Chance To Run because I think it's a really solid narrative that is a love letter to RQG and it came at a time when the fandom was waning but I believe holds its own and Zolf and Oscar deserve their gin soaked speak easy. It can also be read as either SFW or exceedingly NSFW based on chapter headings and I think to be able to weave that together in the chapters was really cool of us.
Fic I agonized over: If I were being glib I'd say all of the kinktober fics I've published which can be found in my kinktobAmS series and are for but being serious I'd say I don't have an agenda. This is the final installment of my RQG 18m gap exploration of what's going on in the heads of Wilde, Zolf, Barnes and Carter and Carter's was the final one and it was like pulling teeth. I wanted to get his voice right so badly. I think it went okay.
Fic that popped out fully-formed: Conversely, the first in that series (Say something , do it soon) flowed out of me like water. I adore Wilde in so many ways, I have spent a lot of time thinking about the way he thinks and what motivates him and It's too quiet in this room was like writing down something being dictated it flowed so well
Fic I'm proud of: This is a toss up between Stems of White, Flowers of Green and Lets be flexible about this (both RQG). Writing both I made myself cry, just a little. The heartache of the first (a fic about Zolf's life when Oscar has died and returns to him with the blooming of flowers) felt so poigniant at the time and even reading it now it feels like such a lovely them. The latter is my longest SFW fic and was true labour of love. It actually started with a NSFW idea but it got away from me dramatically and I'm really proud of the twists and turns of it. Zolf in physio after losing his leg meets, surprisingly well put together, yoga instructor Oscar Wilde.
I have no idea if any of these will appeal to anyone, but it's funny to think of my random scribblings out there in the wild(e). Special shout out too to my erotic sonnets (all RQG) cause they make laugh and they're great fun. I should write more of those.

You are such an incredibly huge part of the rqg fandom and I don’t know what we’d do without you, thank you for all the dedication and love you’ve put into it!
Can you think of a favorite moment/scene from each season or arc that you’d be willing to share?
hey Cy; I'll have you know, I just have been having so many emotions about you sending this ask, I just kept having tears in my eyes every time I looked into my inbox :') thank you so, so much for your art, your fan engagement, your drive for the fandom!!
so, all of my favourite moments, as I am trying to fit, I SPENT TWO DAYS DOING THIS AFSDGFHJ:
Prologue: that one accidental joke where Bertie catches Zolf on his finger like a ballerina, and what is supposedly an ice truck goes by Rusty Towers, making Ben exclaim "is that supposed to be my theme?!" that was the point I realised I am loving this podcast. however, the scene in Barrett's office was something that made me really perk up about the world and the mystery in it!
London S1 adventures: ...that's a bit cheap, but Wilde appearing in Hamid's apartment! the whole scene is just. brilliant. also the whole Bi Ming Gusset's shop! Zolf finally getting a hint of his Harlequin heritage! Sasha's list! Hamid's first droplets of having a troubled background!! also Bertie is there ig :P
Dover/the Channel: Bertie shouting down a riot is still REALLY funny, as much as I dislike him! crossing the channel, "take me, not her!" and the trio just dropping together on the beach for the more serious scenes............ I love them.
Paris: Sasha going on the tour with the Apollo paladins!! but also that scene with Zolf in the beginning of s2, "I don't think I'm powerful, I think I'm powerless!!" im dyin scoob emotions. also Hamid being asked by Brock to take care of Sasha. also when the group, despite being so shitty to Wilde earlier, doesn't give him over to Le Gourmand and straight up EVAPORATES a dude.
Prague: GRIZZOP. hearing him as background for Sasha's medical check-up, meeting him, having him around for the funniest and saddest moments, all of it. also it's hilarious how Sasha turning undead is shown through her being 'attracted' to Bertie who wears the 'attract undead' ring afsdghfjk
Cairo: “you tell him! how little! he! matters!” scene, I just can't. Sasha emotions over the top. also, for the jokey moments, the bar hopping with Palapals in search of Sasha :') also the fact that Sasha hugs Eren Fairhands when he cures her with Heart of Aphrodite. and just the entirety of Tahan family dynamics for the sad part,,,
Damascus: DAMASCUS IS JUST MY FAVOURITE IN IT'S ENTIRETY. goblin factory named Ratchet and their opposite being CLANK? I know it kinda got retconned to Crank, but Ben DID make the joke and I got so happy about it!! and then the jumping out of the cart!! Hamid parallels to Zolf being left behind in London!! the heist!! "you're just a man on the floor"!! the riot turned party!! Sasha and Grizzop interaction, Wilde is FINE but he's NOT, the pun-off, "You are! more important!! than a thing!!!" and the high stakes of the factory destruction and the Rome kidnapping hanging over everyone, just… PERFECT ARC.
Rome: Bryn "I Won't Cast Fireball On Myself" Monroe, the liar-- so, uh, that's actually the funniest scene for me. them all, Azu, Hamid, Sasha and Einstein huddling together is the sweetest and most heartbreaking moment.
Ancient Rome: Grizzop's Paladin Sacrifice retcon killed me, and the scenes that followed left me in a state of undeadness that was just. SCREAM. Sasha's epilogue and her kids with the entire Roman Rogues cast!! I love them!! she's their parent!!
a notable bow, after both of these in the midpoint of AR and Japan, to Alex for making me notice that Vesseek hangs closer to Ishaq and wonder what's that about… only for Metacast 9 to destroy me.
Japan: Wilde's "they don't like me when I'm warm"..................... hey. ouch. also Zolf straight up forgetting to explain the embarassment thing and being MORTIFIED his party thought he made a fart out of nowhere!! and, of course. Sasha's letter. just. her.
Shoin’s: the onion kobold… I really hope they're okay. if someone tells me that said kobold was Meerk then I Will Cry. also that battle!! I just caught up to the podcast at that moment, and it blew me away.
Airship: BODYSWAP BODYSWAP B O D Y S W A P!! also Hamid deciding that he Will become friends with Wilde was some kind of thing to me, idk why :')
Ursans & Garden of Yerlick: I just lost it when Alex started describing the bear (which Patrons were aware of via Into the Wilds Sidequest), and then the people, and they were KHANTY AND MANSI AND TURKIC AND YAKUT INSPIRED AND THEN WE HAD MORE AND MORE INDIGENOUS REPRESENATION that I just about exploded. oh, and the Last Words scenes, I guess :P
Jump to London: I actually didn't enjoy Svalbard as much as I hoped to... but I did like the creepiness of coming back to Other London and other places we had back in the Prologue. proper creepy. Alex as Wilde echoing Hamid's wish to raise a glass to "absent friends" makes me weepy to this moment! and, of course, Geoffrey Chaucer ending up as the ultimate Campbell fan ♥

rqg asks! how about 5, 9, 11, 20?
5. Pick a character and make a prediction for their epilogue.
Okay, I don’t know what’s happening to Zolf, my sweet, sweet boy, after that last episode, but the fact that Alex made Wilde go make cute with him makes me very confident that Alex hadn’t forgotten about their lil holiday plans. I don’t whether it will be actual holiday (bless Dubrach and fingers crossed), an afterlife “holiday”, or a really mournful solo boat trip on which he thinks about Zolf and feels as heartbroken as we will, but I am quite confident that will will Go Somewhere. (Tho depending on what happens in this episode and what they’ve planned for future content, this may be a future episode).
9. Which was your favourite arc and why?
100% Paris. Imo, the only downside to Paris is that Bertie’s there instead of Azu. I love the themes, I love Mr Ceiling as a “villain”, I love mind manipulation as a trope, I love the fake out boss battle. I love the emotional rollercoasters every character goes through. I love that I know what all the landmarks look like without having to google it, lol. The balance of emotion and action is perfect. I’ve listened through RQG 3 times, and with the length of it I can’t see myself ever doing that again, but I can definitely see myself listening through the Paris arc again some time. Ah, sweet nostalgia.
11. Which raw-ass line will stick in your mind for years to come?
I put this in hoping other people were good at remembering quotes, oof, but honestly what really sticks with me is Zolf’s lack of raw-ass line when he leaves Sasha and Hamid. At that point Bertie hadn’t died and Rome wasn’t even on the horizon, I don’t think Ben as a player had any reason to believe Sasha (and or Hamid) would die before he could make Zolf say goodbye. He was probably thinking Zolf would show up in the epilogue having done some behind the scenes shit. And this reflects in Zolf words and mannerisms in this scene in such an interesting way, because none of the players recognising the gravity of the moment is somehow SO in character. So he just says 'see you later’. And that’s it. And it kinda haunts me.
20. I’m a firm believer that everyone takes at least a little piece of every piece of media they consume away with them, to become a part of their lifestyle, or moral code, or even a part of themself. What will you take from Erasing the Line?
Well, first off: Sasha’s fanon (kinda canon) haircut. I had it for 3 months before I decided being Gable Skyjacks would be cooler.
But, on a more serious note, it’s shown me many things I love about story telling. The Ben-and-Lydia’s-mutual-respect-based-on-skill-and-emotional-intelligence-or-lack-thereof-between-PCs is something that feels so much less manufactured when created by two friends manipulating their little imaginary people, and now that I’ve seen those dynamics work I want to seek them out again, and recreate them in my own work.
There’s also something about Zolf’s tenacity, that forward-motion through everything, especially in his, shall we say, second act that I really enjoy. Something about moving forward not just because you have to, but because you genuinely believe there’s something better out there. I want that.
Tysm for the ask!!!

9, 13, 19 <3
9. (favourite arc and why) oh man I love all of them, but it has to be Damascus. There are so many amazing moments - the goblins, the carriage exodus, and then the tension of finding the factory, the medusa fight! A perfect mix of humour and tension and angst, and that ending :( :(.
13. What moment from another piece of media reminds you of RQG?
This is a tough one because my brain is full of RQG at all times. I think the dynamic between Geralt and Jaskier in the Witcher reminds me of Zoscar (yes, I ship them too lol) that would probably be the most prominant thing from media I've seen the last few years. Oh, the dynamic between Hawkeye and Kate Bishop in the new series reminds me of Zolf and Sasha as well - it's just... little moments in the things I watch that make me think back to RQG, and then I get anxious and have to go and write or read fanfic or relisten to episodes because they're just SO GOOD.
19. The nostalgia question! LOL. LOOK, I started listening in the gap between Ancient Rome and Japan which, astonishingly, was mid 2019 I think? And I have since relistened so many times that I have nostalgia for how I felt on my SECOND listen. It's all RQG all the time. In short, no I don't think I can put it into words. Maybe I'll be able to when I go back for my.... eigth relisten after the finale :D.

RQG asks! 1, 9?
1. What is that one moment from the show that you will find yourself thinking back to, intermittently, for years to come?
There are so many so this may get a little long. 1. Sasha forgiving Barret made a huge impression on me, because it was so different from most other forgiveness arcs I’ve seen. She didn’t forgive Barret for him, she did it for herself. And she didn’t think he was secretly good, but she knew he was just irrelevant. 2. Azu and Hamid coming back from Rome and learning about the time that has passed. The absolute gut punch took my breath away, as did their reactions. 3. Sasha’s letter and everyone’s reaction to it for just. All the reasons. 4. The airship crash just because it shocked me so much that I almost dropped a plate will making myself breakfast and listening to it for the first time. 5. Zolf and Wilde’s conversation of 179 because that’s one of my favorite episodes and I remember *exactly* where I was and how I felt when it came out. 6. Preemptive mention for the finale because I know I’ll remember it. 7. Second honorary mention for the jumping out of the carriage moment because it’s so funny.
9. Which was your favourite arc and why?
The second airship arc. It’s the least stressful and most fluffy arc and it came out at a time where I really, really needed that. Plus it has so much lore, romance, and humor. I’ve also been enjoying the absolute tension, anticipation, and emotions of the finale endgame arc.

3, 5, 9 & 20 for the ask game <3
Thank you so much for the ask 💛💙
3. What was your favourite running joke, in or out of character?
Honestly it's hard to pick something, this podcast made me laugh so many times, and also my memory is not that good. But every time Alex does something outrageous and the players (usually Helen) go ALEXANDER JALEXANDER NALEXANDER just leaves me in stitches.
5. Pick a character and make a prediction for their epilogue.
Zolf. He's going to finally rest, finally be able to let go of some of the responsibility he constantly carries and allow himself to just exist and find his way to enjoy this life. He'll find projects that will heal him instead of just push him to the brink of death. Sure, he's still going to be a part of building a better world, but at last, he can have a little quiet. And go on a holiday <3
9. Which was your favourite arc and why?
Oh it's so hard to choose! I'm going to say Paris and the airship. Paris got me hooked on the podcast, and it had just so many emotional moments and revelations that blew my mind, but the airship arc just gave so many characters time to explore feelings and dynamics that they tie. Also, I will give a node to Damascus because it definitely is my second place.
20. I’m a firm believer that everyone takes at least a little piece of every piece of media they consume away with them, to become a part of their lifestyle, or moral code, or even a part of themself. What will you take from Erasing the Line?
The community. RQG is the reason I got to know so many amazing people, it gave me a place that let me grow as a person and as a creator and I feel so lucky to be amongst such a group of kind, talented and wonderful friends. It was the bonding points for so many relationships that changed my life and that's something I'm going to cherish forever.

First lines meme
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 authors!
(nabbed from @si-siw, as usual i don’t like tagging people but feel free to grab it :3)
/!\ TMA and RQG spoilers, lots of Elias ships.
1. Playing with fire (TMA):
At eleven years old, Agnes wants to touch Ronald Sinclair like she wants to touch someone else’s stuff.
2. Particular (TMA):
Jon does not like boys.
WOOF that’s already one of those that really doesn’t do well without the whole context x’’’D even though it is isolated in the text.
Both of those were for the TMA Mspec Week so both are an immediate (start of) exploration of the mechanics of those characters’ desires.
3. This Was A Triumph (RQG)
Sasha stays in Paris.
4. fragments of decidedly [REDACTED] nature (ch7) (TMA)
Martin is crying before the end of it, which is pretty typical, honestly; he allows the tears to flow partly because it makes Elias happy, partly to have evidence.
5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Marginalia (ch28, 27, 26, 25, 24)
Martin is alone on New Year’s Eve.
 “World domination.”
The thing with the hands and the sharp smile is distracted, though, that might be a lie again, might be a trap, just to make her hope and then laugh in her face again, but, but she’s been good at seeing through it, she always finds the right mirrors, always finds the right turns, she hasn’t found the exit but it’s just a matter of time just a matter of time just a matter of time until she gets out, the thing that sometimes pretends to be a man told her there’s no exit but it was lying, wasn’t it, isn’t it always
“No worries, boss, I won’t tell on you,” Tim proclaims with a proud grin, which, weirdly, makes Elias laugh.
They find out many new things about each other, in three weeks; some good, some bad.
These and number 4 were 3-sentences New Year’s microfic (the Helen one runs on and is all just 1.5 sentence technically), and it’s funny to see how half of those lean harder on the blunt minimalism and half immediately get super long and rambly.
10. the void is getting closer (Golden Sun)
The first Felix sees of Prox is the abyss.
11. Transmission (RQG)
C’est étrange, d’accueillir de parfaits inconnus et de les installer dans le foyer vide.
Pas super heureuse de celle-là mais punaise je me suis battue avec pendant des heures, y a 3 ou 4 versions très différentes de ce petit machin.
12. this will be our year (TMA)
On the third day (since they woke up), Martin distractedly looks out the window of the gallery and goes, “Huh!”
13. keep close (and your enemies closer) (TMA)
The man interviewing Martin stares through him like he knows.
14. Nightingale Floor (TMA)
The first time he comes inside Elias’s house, Martin’s trainers squeak on the gleaming floorboards.
15. Cheirophilia (RQG)
Zolf Smith has big hands.
That’s it that’s the fic (actually it’s a lot longer and deeper than that and i’m v happy with it. but this sure is a Exactly What It Says On The Tin moment huh)
16. When Passions Are Happy To Sit Quietly Together, Not Colliding (RQG)
“You don’t have to hide it, you know,” Hamid stresses three days later, sounding frustrated and perhaps a little insulted, and Zolf doesn’t bother looking up from his book to answer: “Not hidin’ anything.”
... again... (This was a 5-sentences one so it gets a pass for being much ramblier and more complex.)
17. A little sincerity (RQG)
It’s busy, after the resurrection.
18. La maison (TMA)
The house is more of a small mansion, really.
19. Le phare (TMA)
Martin has been having trouble sleeping, lately.
20. Cinderella (TMA)
Obviously, there’s a great many things they’ll have to address and deal with, and about eight different red flags setting off alarm bells in Martin’s mind.
Hmm. So I sure have a tendency for the short bluntly establishing isolated intro line (that often makes it to the summary), but not that much, actually. Not even 50% are really learning hard into that. 10, 14 and 17 are cases of my favourite way to use those, casually establishing things that sound like they should be getting a lot more emotion and development. Some of those do explore it later, some of them do not.
Outside of length-restricted microfic, I don’t do much of in-medias-res (even though i love it), but tend to do a lot of establishing by implying or referring to things that haven’t actually been stated yet (“stays in Paris”, “before the end of it”, “On the third day”, “The first time”, “three days later”, “after the resurrection”, “The house”, “lately”, “Obviously”), which is also something I really like in reading. Some of those are only possible due to the fact that this is a fanfiction referencing events the reader is already familiar with (and that’s a huge reason why I love fanfic), but not all!
And only 2 or 3 are really very rambly! Most of them because I was on a number-of-sentences restriction. But I also manage to keep a lot of those very short and dry. I used to be a lot ramblier. Some of these are even normal, unremarkable average sentences. Amazing.
(Also whoah, hadn’t realised I’d posted 20 things since the Archives Sim :O I keep feeling like I didn’t write much this year but I did write a LOT in 2020...)

I’m going to take a moment to type out some random thoughts on the... many... episodes of Rusty Quill Gaming I’ve listened to recently.  Spoilers up to the end of episode 157.
- Man, Rome is the worst.
- I’d seen spoilers for this arc and knew that there was a) time travel, b) some kind of character death, and c) Sasha and Grizzop leaving the party permanently. In the run up to the Rome section I was very stressed about this concept… but once it happened I was actually a lot calmer? Yes, Grizzop’s death was tragic, and the end of that sidequest was intense. However, I’m actually more okay with Sasha being gone than I thought I would be? I loved her and I’ll miss her, but I do feel like most of her arc was done, and I’m excited to see what happened next.
-On that note, I LOVE CEL SO MUCH HOW ARE THEY SO COOL - ahem. Getting ahead of myself there.
- the changes to the world are horrifying. Alex, I respect your craft.
- Einstein continues to be a fucking delight
- the concept that Curie and Eldarion had history delights me. If I ever get writing motivation ever again, I’m writing terrifyingly competent wizard girlfriends.
- Wilde… okay. Right. - Oscar Wilde is potentially my favourite character in this whole series. I loved him the moment I met him, by the time he created ridiculous illusions of tanks in Paris I would be willing to die for him, and words do not exist to describe the joy I felt by the time we got to the “Wilde’s Fine, Stop Asking” fireworks display. I stress out a lot worrying about him, and the really nasty sleep deprivation curse did not help. Basically: Wilde is exactly the right shade of absurdly flamboyant, barely controlled disaster of a human that I am emotionally invested in by default. - Seeing him like this hurts so much but I love it. I do want to know what happened, and I hope I get more details… I think Curie said something along the lines of “he got very good at spotting turned meritocratic agents” so I assume he was working undercover investigating his previous employers? And given the nasty scar (which is definitely going to cause some trauma to Oscar “Prestidigitates himself to look flawless even while sleep deprived” Wilde), I’m guessing that went badly.  - Yeah basically Alex took a character I already loved and set up the perfect set of circumstances for an espionage subplot, which happens to be an old special interest of mine. So I am automatically failing a will save to resist getting overly invested in this storyline
- I had worked out that Zolf was coming back, but I still started yelling when he showed up
-Harrison Campbell continues to be inexplicably relevant and I love it
- Alex in the behind-the-scenes stuff: the one thing I really don’t like about the early seasons is that I didn’t leave enough time for the party to get to know each other. - Alex now: every time anyone does anything, they’re going to have to spend 7 days locked in a room together, with nothing to do except talk to each other.
- This whole situation is a) awkward, with the whole visual inspection thing, and b) awkwardly relevant to recent world events
- Cel is so great. I love them. No thoughts in my brain except love.
- Cel turning into a dolphin was fun. Cel going through the whole “submarine but electronic wait no pedal powered wait no sailboat wait no-“ process was a delight and perfectly set the stage for how much I love them.
- I have so many thoughts about the whole Shoin Institute thing, but they can be summarised as follows: ridiculous puzzle rooms = fun; party’s response to ridiculous puzzle rooms = absolutely delightful; Hamid’s small army of kobolds = Oh Dear; Cel = new favourite character; kobolds = adorable; kobold nightmare cavern = ABSOLUTE HELL, I HATE THIS, WHY, ALEX NO.
- Skraak is good.
- the letter from Sasha almost made me cry, but actually, that episode was very cathartic and nice even if it was heartbreaking
- My thanks to Bryn for prepping his/Hamid’s conspiracy board and therefore reminding me of literally all the plot points relevant right now
- time in quarantine was very funny, very good for character development, and not very good at convincing me that Howard Carter is a productive member of this party.
- the interrogation of the brorb (brain orb) was fascinating, I love the level of worldbuilding that’s clearly gone into all of this. Cel is going to be a very useful character going forward, given the continued presence of weird tech, and the new team dynamics are going to be interesting!
Overall: no matter what I say, I really do respect Alex’s craft, even if I hate it very much sometimes because it makes me feel things

I've gotten pretty far into Rusty Quill Gaming, but I'm at the episode where [I don't know how to go about censoring this for spoilers] Zolf leaves [spoiler ends- sorry this was a stupid method]. I love his interactions with Sasha best, and I didn't know if the characters would ever meet again. If they don't I don't know whether its worth continuing. Do other character interactions sufficiently replace the dynamic?
Aww, I very much get that — it’s a devastating moment, and I adored Sasha and Zolf’s interactions so much.
I do think other character interactions are extremely good and definitely make up for it. The relationship between Sasha and Ben’s new character is one of my favourites in the entire show, to the point that I’ve written 1000+ words of meta on it and can continue to rant about it at any point. It has a lot of the protective found-family vibes of Sasha & Zolf, and they get a lot of time to roleplay together. I know tons of other people who loved Sasha and Zolf’s dynamic with their entire hearts and who were heartbroken when Zolf left — but still loved the show, the relationship with the new character, and many other great dynamics in the show.
If you want, I’m happy to talk more about what happens (with regards to Sasha and Zolf, or about other very good relationships in the show), but I don’t want to spoiler you if you don’t want it — let me know! And either way, I really encourage you to keep going, and offer my condolences for that part of the story.

RQG Retrospective Asks by @kindofwriter found here.
Gosh I’ve come to love this show so much and I’m going to deeply miss it. Thanks for the list of asks, writing this out was a fun way to remember many of the reasons why I love this show. This fandom is undoubtedly one of the most talented and loveliest ones out there and I’ve loved screaming about Alex’s latest crimes against the party with you guys. ❤️
Under the cut because this got very long.
1. The moment Sasha has the opportunity to finally get her revenge on Barret, but she just forgives him, and moves on.
2. Watching listening to Hamid and Azu’s friendship develop over the years has been wonderful. I absolutely love how Bryn reinforces the fact that Hamid fully has the ability to go evil, but its his friends’ influence that makes him want to be good. Hamid went from never having a positive influence in his life to having Azu (Zolf and Grizzop as well), who made him re evaluate a lot of his upbringing. Now he can’t bear to lose his friends and he’ll do what ever it takes to keep them safe. I love this tiny man so much.
3. Tie between undressed Zolf “loads of hit points” Smith my beloved and Azu doesn’t remember anything from seminary school because she was too busy kissing people.
4. Zolf Smith. Something about going from growing up with a lot of trauma, generally bleak world view and having enough internalised guilt to isolate yourself from everyone that you care about; to working through that trauma and literally becoming the embodiment of hope.
5. Azu opens up an orphanage with Kiko, in the seminary, for many of the children who lost their families in the war.
6. Emotional death scene(s) of a few characters, and the rest reminisce about everyone that died along the way.
7. Wilde heals Zolf, tenderly holds his head and gives him a little kiss on the forehead as Big Ben explodes in the background.
8. How Zolf became a cleric without a god and is the cleric of (the concept of) hope now. Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe something to do with how forces like hope, love, luck etc. exist on their own and are powerful enough without the influence of a god.
9. Airship. I just like sailing tbh. Also there’s something about multiple characters, with different motivations, hanging around in a small space and bonding in the downtime that makes me feral. +body swaps and animated objects were brilliant.
10. It’s Wilde. I’m weak for the punny bard. His development from the aristocratic diplomat who didn’t much care about the people he worked with; to someone who deeply cares about his team has been wonderful. Special mention to Einstein, love the chaotic teleporting grandpa.
11. Oohh I have so many for this!! I’m putting a few of my favourites here
“I know you feel, like, the things we’re doing aren’t good enough, and I know- you know I feel the same, and I’ve failed and I’ve got hurt and I’ve got other people hurt, and… I haven’t helped when I wanted to help. But- that doesn't mean we should stop trying! We’re just people, we’re all people, and we’re not perfect. It doesn’t- matter, if we make mistakes, what matters is that we don’t give up, is that we keep trying to do good, we keep trying to help, that we make up for the mistakes- we don’t let the mistakes become all we are, we don’t let the mistake be the final thing, the final word on us, we don’t let the mistake be the only thing we ever contributed to this world.”
“ I…I forgive you Barret. You didn’t care. All this time, you didn’t. And I think that’s ‘cause no one cared about you”
“We’re all the product of countless deaths, Zolf. We’re all just the product of the people that managed to survive by slashing up as many other people as they could.”
“ You can’t protect people from their own actions. They have to be able to learn from the mistakes that they make.”
“You are more important than a thing!”
“ Sometimes you can’t save the world, but you can save a person.”
12. I have 207 and 177 that I re listen to quite frequently. Special mention to a few scenes I’ve replayed more times that I can count:
The Damascus carriage
Wilde and Zolf’s conversation after he wakes up from his resurrection
All of the body swap shenanigans
Hero’s feast with Jeff Chaucer Dragon Slayer
Bertie ends a riot by yelling
Hamid turns a riot into a dance off
Discussions of Apophis being DTF
13. Definitely can’t not think about the show when random historical figures are mentioned. Also I happened to watch the 2016 ghost busters the other day and called Kate McKinnon’s character Cel the whole time. It’s not even just the look, it was the whole vibe.
14. Don’t recall anything specific at the moment.
15. Sasha’s letter, Grizzop’s sacrifice (I’m still mad about the ripped character sheet!) and The Vengeance crash landing.
16. I haven’t put out any fan content for the show, but I’ve written a few pov and internal monologue type things just for me.
17. I’m very bad at making memes sorry :(
18. I already loved all the main cast members and blindly trusted their ability to tell a good story (I was right!!).
19. I just deeply enjoy the character growth and the journey that they go through over the years. Also the audio quality in the first season make me super emotional because it reminds me of how far RQ has come. I wish I could have been there at the beginning, but I’m glad to be here at the end.
20. Sometimes you’re only going to have bad choices, you’re going to make mistakes, but that’s okay as long as you try to be better. Try to trust other people because you’ll have someone in your corner most of the time.

Congratulations on your thesis! If it isn’t too late to ask, for the fandom question I’d like to request FMA and Mystic Messenger ^^
Thanks!! Sorry I didn’t respond when you sent this last night, but I was just way too tired, haha. I’m putting these under a cut because they got long.
FMA:B:
Favorite character:
Colonel Hot Stuff, a.k.a. Roy Mustang. ♥
Least Favorite character:
For a non-cliché answer? Gluttony. Sorry, but cannibalism is a huge squick. He grosses me out. (Cliché answers are Shou Tucker and Zolf J. Kimblee.)
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
Haha, unlike many shounen mangaka, Arakawa actually knows how to write romance well, so . . .
Roy/Riza, and that gets to be bolded because it is supreme, easily the best ship in the manga.
Ling/Lan Fan
Ed/Winry
Al/May
Izumi/Sig
Character I find most attractive:
Colonel Hot Stuff, obviously. But Riza is also super pretty.
Character I would marry:
N/A? I never really thought about it.
Character I would be best friends with:
Ed and I would get along pretty well, tbh.
A random thought:
I’m not sure a more perfect shounen series exists, tbh.
An unpopular opinion:
Though I do still hate Shou Tucker a lot, by this point I’m so desensitized to what happened to Nina that, while I still think that it’s horrifying on a logical level, it doesn’t phase me anymore and neither do the memes about it / people bringing it up randomly. I also think that using it as a meme / shock thing is really old and boring.
My canon OTP:
Roy/Riza, and listen . . . it’s canon that they love each other. Arakawa has said that the only reason why they’re not together is because they can’t be according to military law. They’re in love, it counts.
Non-canon OTP:
Ed/Ling, or Winry/Rose. I love both of these ships a lot even if I didn’t list them above.
Most badass character:
IZUMI CURTIS. Look fam, she whoops all kinds of ass despite the fact that she’s missing several important organs and often coughs up blood, like . . . she survived the Briggs winter by herself when she was young. She took down bears. You don’t fuck with Mama Izumi, you just don’t. Not if you want to live, anyway.
Pairing I am not a fan of:
Roy/Ed. Sorry, but I just see Roy as one of Ed’s (and Al’s!) many surrogate parents.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
None? None. Arakawa is a godsend.
Favourite friendship:
TEAM MUSTANG. I love Team Mustang so muuuuch (as well as the honorary members of Hughes and Armstrong, and the children, Ed and Al). I also really love Maria and Denny’s relationship, too. They’re “brotp or otp” material, honestly.
Mystic Messenger:
Favorite character:
SAEYOUNG, LOVE OF MY LIFE. ♥
Least Favorite character:
Out of the main cast? Yoosung. Easily. I was neutral on him until Another Story, but once that came along . . . ohhhhhh boy.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
A list:
Saeyoung/MC 4 (as I write her)
Jaehee/Zen
Jumin/V
And, uh . . . pretty sure that’s it, haha.
Character I find most attractive:
Saeyoung ♥ But I will also admit that Zen and Vanderwood are quite pretty, and Jaehee is pretty when her hair is short and she’s wearing her glasses.
Character I would marry:
Saeyoung, obviously. Jaehee would be my second choice, though.
Character I would be best friends with:
Again . . . the reason why I pursued Saeyoung right off the bat was because he made me laugh and it was so much fun to play around with him. We have very similar senses of humor and a lot of the same hobbies.
A random thought:
It’s not random, but I do headcanon that Saeyoung has likely killed people while on agency jobs in the past. Not maliciously, and only ever because he had to. It was him or them, it was self-defense. But he’s done it, nonetheless. The first time was when he was only about thirteen, or fourteen, and Vanderwood (because he didn’t know what else to do, or say) gave him a cigarette after to try to calm him down. Maybe Saeyoung even asked for it, I don’t know. And Saeyoung took it, and of course nearly coughed up a lung as a result to not being used to the smoke, and after a few minutes Vanderwood says, “You know, it gets easier.”
“What?” Saeyoung said, his voice still raw (from crying? from the smoke?). “The killing, or the smoke?”
Vanderwood was quiet for a moment, then he shrugged. “Both.”
(Saeyoung doesn’t smoke anymore after that, but there are times after when he’s still forced to kill.)
An unpopular opinion:
Zen/Jaehee is practically canon, and Cheritz needs to give us a route where we can play matchmaker for them.
My canon OTP:
There are no canon ships lol. Well, there’s one, but it’s terrible, so.
Non-canon OTP:
Zen/Jaehee, Jumin/V.
Most badass character:
SAEYOUNG, is this even a question? This man gets shot, and then manages to stay conscious for so long after that, and that’s on top of everything else he manages to accomplish, like . . . goddamn. When V says that Saeyoung has the skills to make things happen, he’s not exaggerating.
Pairing I am not a fan of:
Saeyoung/Yoosung. Both of them have to be OoC to make it work, and Yoosung is really, really not good for Saeyoung regardless.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
Saeyoung was treated so horribly in Another Story, it’s honestly offensive.
Favourite friendship:
SAEYOUNG & VANDERWOOD. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

The Ice Cream Parlour (part 1?)
@distant-glory, you asked for it! Prepare for OOC everyone (especially Envy!), an abrupt ending (because my sister got tired of writing the story), and married!Kimvy. I’ll try to convince her to finish it later. Also, Zolf! Kimbley and Frank Archer are probably really OOC; we haven’t watched ‘03 yet, but we like what we’ve seen of those characters so far, so we wanted to include them.
We might try and make this a better story later on... it’s pretty horrible at the moment, but at least it made us laugh (even though this version doesn’t have Rescue Dog in it).
                                       The Ice Cream Parlour
“Kimblee!” Envy drawled, flopping onto the couch. “Why don’t we do something fun? Like get ice cream or something?”
Kimblee glanced up from his book. “If you like, dear.”
Envy chuckled to themselves. “D’aw, he called me dear. Well, where should we go, Kimblee dearest?”
“How about the ice cream parlour? We can make a date out of it.”
The happy couple hopped into Envy’s pride and joy: Sarah, the black Mercedes-Benz, and sped towards the ice cream parlour.
“I want a chocolate parfait,” announced Envy. “You should get one, too. Then we’ll match. Or you could get a big one and we’ll share, but I want the cherry if we’re gonna do that.”
“If you insist.” Kimblee hoped that Envy would be mindful of his milk allergy when ordering, but he didn’t expect them to remember. Thank goodness he had remembered to bring an Epi-pen.
Envy opened the door to the ice cream parlour dramatically. “Shop keep, my usual!” they called.
“Now, what would that happen to be?” a sneering, all-too familiar voice replied, and Envy gasped. “Greed? What’re you doing in my ice cream parlour? You already have your bar, you can’t have my refuge as well!” Envy shrieked at their brother.
“Sorry, Envy, but I crave the finer things in life, and that includes this ice cream parlour!” proclaimed Greed, leaning against the counter with an insufferable grin on his face.
“Well, that’s just...stupid. Well, I’m not paying you for ice cream, so you have to give it to us for free. Right, Kimblee? We won’t let him ruin our date, will we?”
Kimblee had already taken a seat at the ice cream counter, and he gazed expressionlessly down at its shiny marble surface. “How do you expect him to make money if people don’t pay him, Envy?”
Greed nodded, still grinning. “Your husband’s right, kiddo. I don’t give things away, anyway. Even you should know that.”
“You’re more generous than you let on, Greed, and you know it.” A smiling face with eyes closed popped up from behind the counter. “I mean, why else would you let me eat all the ice cream that I want? I wasn’t even allowed to do things like that back at the palace in Xing, and yet you let me do it.”
“Aw, Ling, you’re different,” Greed said, scratching the back of his head. “You’re a friend, and Envy’s just family. Kimblee, too, ‘cause they’re married now. But fine, Envy, I’ll give you half off, ‘cause I’m such a nice guy.”
“Well, thanks for your generosity,” sneered Envy, plunking themselves down next to Kimblee. “Well, we’ll take a double-sized chocolate parfait. And don’t forget the cherry on top.”
“Okay, did you hear that, Zolf?” Greed hollered into the back.
“Sure thing, boss man!” a loud voice yelled back.
“Where are the cherries?” Fu asked, popping up beside Ling.
Kimblee shuddered- it seemed that Envy had indeed forgotten his allergy. Well, he was a masochist, so that was a blessing, at least. He just hoped that he wouldn’t get hives after eating the ice cream this time.
“Hey, Ling,” drawled Envy. “Are you guys really working for Greed? How about your bodyguard/girlfriend? Is she here, too?”
“Oh, yes,” said Ling, smiling pleasantly. “All three of us are here, and we’re all working for Greed. We all needed a break from all of the stresses of the court, so a couple of Greed’s chimeras are up in Xing doing our jobs while we do theirs. It’s like the law of equivalent exchange!”
“Oh, well, good luck with that. I’d hate to work for him. He’s one of my three least favourite brothers,” Envy shook their head sorrowfully. “Hey Kimblee, what’s up with that face?”
Kimblee slowly turned, looking at Envy with emotionless eyes. “Nothing.” He didn’t want to spoil their fun. “I… just don’t really feel like ice cream today… but I’ll eat it if you want me to.”
“But Kimblee,” Envy whined. “You’re the one that suggested that we come here. And sharing is so romantic, and it’s my favourite. Don’t be like that!”
“A-alright.” Kimblee swallowed, steeling himself for the inevitable reaction that was to come. Perhaps I just need to turn my thinking around… I’m living life on the edge, taking risks. I’m putting my SOUL at RISK. “...Ha. Ha ha HAHAHA!” he cackled, fired up for the soul risking that he was about to go through.
Greed and Ling stared at Kimblee. “Is he all right?” asked Ling. “Maybe he’s having a panic attack.”
Envy shook their head. “Kimblee only panics when it’s an emergency. And he looks so happy. Aw, isn’t he a cutie?”
Before anyone could answer, the door to the ice cream parlour flew open. “Shop keep, my usual!” announced a stentorian voice.
“And what would that happen to-,” Greed began to sneer, but then stopped abruptly. “Aw man, not you!”
Frank Archer’s brow creased, his expression changing from mere disinterest to full-on annoyance. “Greed. May I ask what you are doing in this establishment?”
“That’s what I’d like to know!” proclaimed Envy.
“I already told you, Envy. I desire the finer things in life, and this ice cream parlour is one of them. I own this place, it’s mine, all mine! Now, what is your order, my good fellow?”
Frank Archer scowled, taking a seat at the counter. “One scoop of French vanilla ice cream. In a bowl, if you please.” Then he paused, contemplative. “On second, thought, I’m feeling adventurous today. I’d like some chocolate sauce with that order.”
“All right, Ling, fetch the man his ice cream. Bido, did you finish the chocolate sauce? Where did Lan Fan wander off to? Lan Fan?”
“I still haven’t found the cherries!” Fu exclaimed.
Suddenly, Zolf J. Kimbley strolled out of the kitchen. “Don’t know where she is, boss-man, but never fear- Zolf J. Kimbley is here! Ling,” he shouted, pointing a finger at the prince. “Do as Greed says.”
“On my way!” Ling shouted happily, running into the back.
“I say, Zolf, what are you doing here?” asked Frank Archer.
“Mister Greed! We need your help!” shrieked Bido.
“The soft serve dispenser blew up!” yelled Martel.
Kimblee prided himself on being able to thrive in any situation, being able to withdraw into his ‘happy place’ whenever he needed some peace and calm. The immense racket around him, however, was terribly distracting to his inner self, who was currently fumbling for the key to open his inner refuge. His high from thinking about soul-risking over, he felt rather drained. “Please tell them to quiet down,” he mumbled to Envy. “I’m getting overwhelmed.”
Instantly filled with concern for their husband, Envy frantically thought about how to help him. This is Greed’s fault, he’s probably just doing this to ruin me an’ Kimblee’s date. I should beat him up and teach him not to mess with us- no, wait. A fight would make things even crazier, and my poor old husband might have a heart attack!
“Hey, shut up!” Envy shrieked to the throng, confusing their thoughts with Kimblee’s request. “My husband’s having a heart attack!”
This outburst caused everyone to freeze, interrupting many dramatic scenes, including a heated exchange between Greed and Frank Archer, with Zolf smugly looking on, and Greed’s gang dancing frantically, trying to get his attention. Shocked into silence, they all stared at the unhappy couple.
“Help, someone get a doctor,” cried the distraught Envy, pulling Kimblee into their arms.
Kimblee felt very uncomfortable, but made no move to escape from Envy’s iron grasp. Am I having a heart attack? That would be very unfortunate…
“Just give me an aspirin, and I’ll be fine,” he assured the crowd, voice wobbling slightly despite himself. He’d never had a heart attack before, and he wasn’t sure how react to the situation.
“I’m a doctor!” announced a kindly old voice. Dr. Marcoh, who had been sitting unobtrusively in a booth by the door, hurried over to the counter, pulling out a briefcase stuffed full of various medical apparatuses. “Describe your symptoms to me, young man.”
Kimblee shook his head, trying to clear it. “Well, I feel tired and dizzy...”
“Does your chest hurt, or feel tight?”
“Not particularly,” he replied dazedly.
“Alright, thank you, Kimblee. Envy, has anything like this ever happened before?” asked the physician.
Envy thought desperately. There was the time that Kimblee had fallen asleep on the subway… and that other time that he had complained of a headache… it was obvious that their husband was in very poor health.
“Yes! Dozens of times!” Envy shrieked, grabbing Dr. Marcoh by the collar. “You’ve got to do something! Don’t let him die!”
“Calm down, Envy,” said the good doctor. “Everyone needs to calm down and take a deep breath. When everyone panics, it causes the patient to panic as well, and we can’t have that.”
Envy rubbed their eyes with their knuckles, sniffing pathetically. “I am calm!”

Note
1, 2, 9, 10 (and a second favourite after Skraak), 16, 19
1. What is that one moment from the show that you will find yourself thinking back to, intermittently, for years to come?
It’s got to be Sasha’s letter. The thought that went into it. The way it made the story cyclical - so many things would never have happened had Sasha not ended up in Rome. The music. Zolf leaving. The way Alex’s voice fades into Lydia’s. I love it!
2. What has been your favourite relationship to see (well, hear) develop?
Of course, I love Zolf and Wilde, but I really feel rather robbed of actually seeing that one develop! I think I’ve gotta say Grizzop and Sasha. He’s just left his kids, she’d just left her only two good metro figures EVER behind, they just needed each other. Especially in Rome, where they had no one. And he died for her, like she was his one daughter. Doesn’t get more poignant than that!
9. Which was your favourite arc and why?
As I emphatically said, Paris Paris Paris!!! But I also have a soft spot for the airship shenanigans. It was a nice break from the tension, and a really pleasant thing to listen to at the time I was listening, and it made me warm to a lot of NPCs I hadn’t had much time to really think about before.
10. Who was your favourite NPC, and why is it Skraak? There’s no joke here, if it’s not Skraak you’re wrong. (Fine, fine, who was your favourite NPC?)
Can’t believe you’re making me think about NPCs who aren’t Skraak!! But if I really must ;) Barnes, for that sweet Northern solidarity (and also he’s such a sweet boy!!! I love him!!), and Wilde, bc I literally study his life for my dissertation and it’s fun to see someone else’s take on him!
16. If you’ve ever created fan content for the show, which piece are you most proud of?
I’ve actually created a huge mountain of trash for RQG, tbh 😅 I always enjoyed just bashing it out rather than really working on anything. But this is probably my best fic. Short, sweet, and canon compliant!
19. Can you try to put into words the crushing nostalgia you now feel when you think back to the prologue episodes, and how you felt listening to them for the first time vs how that would feel now?
I can try! It’s kind of a soft, hollow feeling. I remember standing in the kitchen with my headphones in, same sweater I’m wearing now, grinning as I listened to Alex describe a setting I knew I was going to love. The thought of listening to that now makes me think that feeling would hit me even harder.
Tysm for the ask!!!
