#Stolas on the spectrum

Some of the reasons I think Stolas is on the spectrum
(finally getting around to popping this on up too).
He has special interests & misses social cues while being happy in them.
It not really normal to be happy reading legal documents when someone's life is on the line. But Stolas is just vibing that he gets to help with his love of words. Yay him!
Tumblr media
Stims
He stims when both happy & sad to help regulate his emotions.
His happy stims are:
*clapping when he gets to take Via to the circus, because he thinks they can enjoy it together.
He also does this with contract reading.
Tumblr media
*He hopps up and down when his dad gives him a new books. Also when getting ready for his date with Blitz. He's just so happy he needs to hop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His sad stims:
*are bang his head again and again about the engagement.
Tumblr media
*He self sooves with chest strokes when Blitz says his outfit is too much.
Tumblr media
*He hand rubs and wringing his hat when worrying about Via in LA.
Tumblr media
Special interests
The there's that Stolas info dumps on the playdate with Blitz all about his books and about plants.
Tumblr media
Stolas also feels he has to explain why Blitz horse joke was soo funny. And why's it so funny?
Because it's accurate. I love his little cutie.
Tumblr media
But he's also kept up his love of plants as a major hobby now he's an adult. When most people tend to swap interests as they age.
Tumblr media
Side bar
His comfy resting hand position is t rex hands. This tends to be an autistic thing. Also works well as an owl.
Tumblr media
Sensory issues
Stolas appears to also have some sensory issues too. When his a child he appears to be struggling when Mr Butler touches his hair out of nowhere.
Tumblr media
But he's fine with Blitz doing it when they're kissing. This shows a lot of trust between them.
Tumblr media
I think it's likely sensory issues are the reason why he swaps into his comfy, very old robe, as often as he can too.
Tumblr media
Specific communication issues
While Stolas is very good at some communication styles, he's pretty bad at others.
When the audience think it's another joke about wanting to keep a puppy; he immediately knows Blitz's is panicking the studio. And tries to get to him.
Tumblr media
However he doesn't get that his dirty talk is way OTT, because he's mostly likely coping it from the erotica. Not lived experience.
Tumblr media
Speaking of erotica.
There's obviously a rule that reading is allowed at the diner table. But Stolas doesn't get This book isn't appropriate to read there.
Another rule he appears to follow more rigidly than most probably would; is that when you get an appointment you wait till you're seen.
Ozzie's ment to met Stolas at noon, but doesn't make it till 4 pm because of problems with work.
Stolas is only a couple of days out of the hospital and is probably feeling horrible.
But he sticks around a minimum of 4 hours to be seen, because he feels he has to.
(I'm assuming he also got taught you turn up earlier rule, but this just a guess).
Tumblr media
Stolas genuinely wants to do something Via will enjoy, and he's fine taking Via to stylish occult when she asks.
But didn't get it till she's crying and sad that she wasn't enjoying Loo Loo Land.
"I take it you are.. not having fun." She needs to spell it out. Sarcasm isn't easy for him to interrupt.
Tumblr media
His was obviously thought taking his daughter and his lover out to a theme park would be a good way to introduce them.
It's the sort of plot that only works on a novellas. And that's probably when he got it from. (Probably worked great for Gabrielle and Alejandro).
Tumblr media
These are examples of him Masking, and not understanding why it didn't work.
Stella's being dangerous to be around = take Via out somewhere for her to have fun to blow off steam.
Wanting your lover and daughter to like eachother = ask IMP to tag along as the completely unnecessary bodyguards.
He doesn't really get that flirty with his affair partner, in front of his kid while going through a divorce isn't a good idea...
He also struggles to understand when his flirting comes off as condescending too. With "ittybity imps like you" or calling him Blitzy in public. He's most likely him coping language from other goeita.
But Stolas is very good at knowing when knowing when Blitz is fine being picked up, when to reassure him with face stokes, or how to calm Blitz down from a panic attack in just a few seconds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it's not that he's just never learnt these skills. It's just that some communication skills are harder for him than others.
But if you disagree that fine. 🙂 I just wanted to put down some of my thoughts why I think he could be.

Yep, I ship Stolitz now.
I just really need these two men to be happy and now that there's some evidence that Stolas DOES also make Blitz happy...
Since, you know. Viv and the crew somehow made me adore both of these characters when originally I was neutral about both of them. I originally just thought Blitz was hilarious and Stolas was a sex maniac.
But I have seen the light of these two demons who had alienating childhoods with trauma, who are determined to ACTUALLY be good at "daddying", who secretly just want some happiness and passion and love with actual wholesome relationships.
Like no wonder Stolas' best relationship is with his daughter since their relationship is actually healthy. Like no wonder Blitz is obsessed with Moxxie and Millie's relationship. Those kinds of relationships are all they want. Happy and healthy and loving.
LET'S MAKE THESE DEMON BOYS HAPPY!

Ok, for some quick exposition/explanation, I'm very likely to be autistic and my special interest is Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel and the universe they exist in.
I've been in a mild depressive episode for about a month due to not seeing my friends and not going outside enough. Also, self hatred.
A new episode of Helluva Boss came out and I kid you not, somehow my special interest is so intense I'm not fucking numb anymore???
I don't think my brain is supposed to work like this but I love that it does, Stolas literally got me out of an episode and countless breakdowns (comfort character), Vivzie I fucking love your characters you're my favorite creator 💖💕💗💞💕

“All Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel critics are homophobes and queerphobes!!!” No. I’m gay. I hate stolitz because it’s horribly written and stolas is…i don’t know…a RAPIST??? I would still hate it if it was the straightest ship alive. It’s horrible representation as well, another reason for why I hate it so much. You can not say to me with a straight face, an aro-ace spectrum lesbian survivor of CSA, than I am homophobic for not liking the representation in Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. I am not a person of colour (I’m so fucking pasty words can not describe it), so I can not comment on the representation of POC characters in those shows. But I have heard many people of colour who do not like the representation in the shows, so I trust them with that. I will repeat, part of why I hate those shows so much is because the representation isn’t very good in my opinion!!! I swear to god what part of that is not clicking!!!

Crush
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Content; gender neutral, no pronouns, swearing, mentions of relationship insecurity, some suggestive themes, mentions of Polyam (fizz/Ozzie/reader)
Feat; Fizzarolli, Loona, Blitz, Stolas
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You got them acting up. When they're down bad,
Fizzarolli will constantly be touchy. Somehow, someway, he just needs to be in contact with you. Loves showing off- which means he'll do tricks, sing, and show off his flexibility (fuckin' slut). He'll brag about how cool you are, how fantastic, how amazing- to literally everyone. If he's in his relationship with Ozzie, the two of them talk about how they would integrate you into the relationship. Since Fizz actually knows how to communicate (unlike someone we know), he's very good with knowing about boundaries, needs, and expectations. Will constantly cozy up to you and will flirt shamelessly. He's just such a cutie
Loona can't hide it. She's so obviously enamored by you. Her intimidating facade shatters, leaving her an awkward, smiley, goofy love struck pup. Her tail will wag, she stands up a bit straighter, avoids eye contact, but listens so intently. Tries to crack jokes, but just ends up telling on herself. For reference, please see: "That's hot-" "Ha, I wish I had friends-". Can and will fight people for your attention. If you're in a conversation with Moxxie, oh wow, suddenly she has a reason to drop kick him into the next ring of hell. Blitz obviously knows if Loona has a crush on someone, so expect some glares, "playful" death threats, and lots of questions/comments about how you'd treat her, etc. He warms up.. Eventually. Either way, Loona doesn't care. All she wants is to be with you.
Blitz avoids it. He thinks love is stupid, that no one could ever possibly love him, and that he doesn't deserve a relationship. Depending on how close you are, he'll either: isolate, pretend he doesn't feel anything and attempt to act normal, or flirt. Tbh, I think if he's very close to someone, he'll isolate, because he doesn't know how to deal with his emotions. No matter how he handles it, everyone notices this change in his behavior, especially Loona. Like her dad, she'll be very protective and pretty harsh. Once she's sure you have good intentions, she'll be more accepting. Still pokes fun at you though. It'll take a lot of patience, determination, and a lot of forcing Blitz to communicate- but eventually, hopefully, he'll allow himself to be happy with you.
Stolas, somehow, becomes even more of a slut. We've seen how he acts with Blitz. Of course he's going to flirt and make passes. (However, if you're on the ace spectrum or are uncomfortable with it, he'll absolutely respect your boundaries). He's also one to spoil those he's interested in, whether it be thoughtful gifts, bouquets, you name it. He wants so badly to have and express his love and passion. Initially, there will likely be communication issues. It's entirely possible that he has relationship insecurity and will be a bit clingy, but will always try to give you the space you need. He just wants love. He just wants you.

Okay. I kinda want to walk through what I think is happening in each of their heads during the conversation. For my own sake, mainly, but who knows, maybe someone else will find it useful. Spoilers ahead, obviously. (Also fair warning that this is long and I expect nobody to actually read it; this is mostly for me.)
So let's establish first where they are when Blitz arrives.
Blitz hates himself. He's on the path to healing after making up with Fizz, but it is a very long road ahead. So if you can imagine it as a spectrum where "hates self" and "loves self" are on opposite ends, maybe he's not all the way at the hates self end anymore, but he's still pretty darn far over that way. So Blitz is arriving thinking he's unlovable, that he makes everyone's lives worse, and that Stolas is possibly getting bored of him. We also know from his half of the duet that he genuinely looks forward to these full moon nights and likes their arrangement. Makes sense. It provides him with the comfort of what he thinks is the closest he can get to an actual relationship where all he has to give is something he knows that he can and that he's good at (sex). He wants to keep the arrangement going. Yes, for a way to earth, but also for Stolas. This, in Blitz's mind, is the only way he gets to keep him.
Stolas is likely unmedicated for his depression, since this show doesn't show us things like him being out of his pills as just a throwaway joke; it's important. Anyone who has ever had depression knows that it just loves to remind you of the worst things about yourself, most of which aren't even true. It tells you that you're worthless and unlovable. We can see this in the way he's covered everyone but Octavia in the artworks in his home, mirroring Blitz scribbling himself out of photos. He's been in a dark place. But Stolas is also being so brave, ready to ask Blitz to love him anyway. To choose him of his own free will, the way it should've always been. His depression is making it hard, but he's going out on the limb anyway and hoping Blitz will catch him.
"I need it back...permanently."
Blitz starts panicking. He reacts like a puppy that's been told it's a bad dog. He starts promising that he can be good, he can do better. He can fuck Stolas like nobody else can.
Stolas rebuffs the advance and this is interesting to me-- Blitz slips into his dom persona a little, trying to regain control of the situation. He calls Stolas "bitch" and pushes his legs apart, lowers his voice to be seductive. And it alllllllmost works, just for a second, as Stolas blushes and starts to fall under the spell of it all. But then he gets himself back under control and reasserts this new boundary.
Blitz immediately drops the act and starts to beg with genuine distress, tears in his eyes even, and up until this point, I won't argue with you if you try to tell me that it's all about the grimoire. I disagree, but I'll let you get away with telling yourself that. Right up until this point.
Because this is when Stolas holds out the crystal and everything changes.
Their fucking leitmotif or whatever you call it, I don't know music terms, it starts playing, changing from the dramatic, ominous music before. Blitz starts inspecting the crystal like he doesn't believe it's real.
Let's be clear: he knows what an Asmodean crystal is and what it does. He's seen them before at least twice, both in 2x05. So it's not that he's in disbelief or confusion about what it does or that it exists. It's that Stolas is giving it to him that's taking him aback.
"You no longer need my grimoire." "Whaaaat?"
Because all Blitz is hearing is "you don't need me now. I can be rid of you without guilt."
"I don't understand. Why are you giving me this? Am I not fucking you good enough? Because I can always do better."
Let's take a second to pretend we're in a world where Blitz has zero feelings for Stolas. That this has always just been about getting to earth. In that world, Blitz never says this line. In that world, Blitz splits right here. He has the crystal in his hands. He knows what it does. He is officially 100% free at this point.
But we don't live in that universe and this line proves it. Blitz thinks he's being cast aside and instead of seeing it as his chance at freedom from Stolas, he's begging to be kept.
I can do better. Don't throw me away.
"I care...very deeply for you. And I have for some time."
Tumblr media
This is the face Blitz makes after that. The entire time Stolas is talking, he keeps looking between Stolas and the crystal while making this face, like he literally can't process what is happening. Of all the things he expected to happen tonight, this wasn't even on the list. And remember: Blitz hates himself. Blitz genuinely believes he is unlovable.
Have you ever experienced something so surreal that it's almost like you left your body during it? Like your brain literally couldn't process that this was happening to you, so it's almost like you dissociate to the point that you feel like you're watching it happen to someone else? Because things like this don't happen! Not to you. These are things you see on TV or hear happening to other people. But to YOU? There's no way it's real.
"You don't have to stay here with me."
Tumblr media
He looks ALARMED. Scared. The thought that he's about to lose Stolas genuinely startles him. He doesn't want what he thinks is happening. He doesn't want to be cast aside. If his choice is this or the chains, he'd rather the chains.
But. That's not the choice he's being presented. Because Stolas adds,
"But I want you to."
And Blitz's brain, his traumatized, mentally ill brain...just can not process that. No one wants to keep him. He's a commodity to be bought and sold and has been since his father sold him to Paimon as a child (which, by the way, I'm fairly convinced he thinks was Stolas's idea, not Paimon's). Maybe even before.
So his defense mechanisms kick in from this point on. Default to what's comfortable. It must be a sex thing! There's no way Stolas means this, so it's gotta be some weird roleplay. Well, he can do that! He can swoon and say he loves him (and if that hits a little too close to the truth, then fuck you, no it doesn't) and it's fine because this is fake. This can't be real, because things like this don't happen to someone as "worthless" as Blitz believes himself to be.
Blitz is trying to protect his own heart here, but what Stolas is hearing is rejection. Blitz playing it off as a joke must mean that Stolas is a joke for ever thinking Blitz could love him back. And why would he? Stolas doesn't see himself as lovable, either. One of his earliest memories is of Blitz "using" him to steal from the palace, never knowing that Blitz was only doing so on his father's orders, just as Blitz probably doesn't know that he was bought on Paimon's order, not Stolas's. He's a commodity, too.
Stolas's depression immediately puts him in a place where he can't see past his own pain and self-loathing. Blitz not immediately jumping into his arms must mean that all the worst things he thinks about himself are true. Blitz sees him as the monster he fears he is.
So he pulls himself together and starts to walk. And again, Blitz could leave here if he didn't care.
But the strangest thing happens. Blitz realizes that Stolas meant it. He even asks,
"Wait, you were being serious? Hold on, Stolas. What the fuck?"
He's trying to talk it out. He's trying to have the conversation. He's hurt and confused and in disbelief but he's not running from this. He's not letting Stolas walk away from him because he wants Stolas, and he's actively trying to keep him. They have to talk this through, and Blitz of all people is the one trying to pull Stolas back into the conversation.
"The fact that you couldn't believe that I could have these feelings about you, the fact that your first instinct is that it's always about sex, that's enough to know what this is."
See, what we have to remember is that Stolas doesn't have all the information we do. He hasn't seen the crossed out pictures, he didn't witness the flashback to the fire that killed Blitz's mom. Stolas hasn't watched Blitz cry himself to sleep or drink himself into a stupor after what he perceived as a public rejection at Ozzie's. Neither of them have all the information about each other that we, the audience do.
So when Stolas, who doesn't know that Blitz hates himself and thinks himself unlovable, hears that Blitz thinks there's no way that Stolas could love him, what Stolas hears is "you, Stolas, are an unlovable monster in my eyes."
It just confirms all the worst things Stolas thinks about himself. It's a literal, "it's not you, it's me," situation, but Stolas can't see that because he doesn't have all the information.
And here's what's even more interesting. Blitz doesn't think it's over like Stolas does. He's not rejecting Stolas.
"Fuck you, Stolas. You spring this feelings bullshit on me, are you fucking kidding? Can I get a fucking minute to think after everything you put me through, you pompous, rich, asshole?"
This is Blitz saying that this is all very unexpected for him, but he's not saying no. He's saying "give me a minute, let me think. Don't take my first reaction in the way that you are. I was surprised. I was in disbelief. Give me a fucking minute to PROCESS."
But by this point, it's too late. Stolas's self-loathing has taken the driver's seat in his brain and all he can hear is that Blitz hates him, that he is unlovable, that he's a monster, that he's all the things he feared were true, and the person telling him that is the person he cared (second) most for in the entire world.
Blitz's defense mechanism is fight. Stolas's is flight. And so when Blitz unloads on him like that, Blitz is trying, in his own messed up way, to have the conversation. To work this out. To be honest for once and see if they can get somewhere now that the dam has been broken. While Stolas...his instinct is to flee. And since he's the one with the magic portals, guess what happens?
"I didn't realize you think so low of me."
You can tell by Blitz's reaction that he realizes they're not having the conversation he thinks they are. He realizes in that instant that Stolas isn't going to yell back with him. They're not going to scream at each other until they get it all out of their systems and reach a catharsis. He's hurt Stolas, maybe in a way that they can't come back from, and he immediately shifts his demeanor.
"Stolas, wait. I'm so--"
And then it's over. He's been kicked out of the palace. Thrown aside, just like he feared he would be.
And each of them are left feeling like the other thinks they're a monster, because neither of them realize that the only person who thinks they're a monster is themself.
I gotta go lie down, jfc.

*deep breathes* Sooo, those last couple mins from the latest "Full Moon" ep... lets talk about that🍵🍵
Welp, here it is folks... the ep that finally gave us that hyped up "Asmodeon crystal" exchange teased at in the S2 Pt. 2 trailer. And... hooooo boi, I have formed so. many. thoughts. upon rewatching that scene a few times. Some that are... kiiiinda on the rant-y spectrum the more I lingered on 'em, so how bout I share them here lmao
Fair warning in advance, this maaaaay not be particularly "nice" to Stolas in these rambling thoughts, so if anyone out there's a big Stolas(+itz) fan... yall might wanna skip reading ahead- lol .w.;;
*claps*
Okay, so to start things off on a (semi?) positive note, the animation & lighting here is quite beautiful to look at. The glittery curtains, the shine in Blitz's eyes throughout his shifting emotions, even the shots of that one broken chandelier (which I thiiink might've been the same one him & Stolas played under as kids?) was a neat bit of symbolism ngl.
Props to Brandon Rogers as well for his voice-performance on Blitz here cause... gawd did it hit me in the heart how much hurt you feel from his yelling ;-;💔
Curious to see more of the use of Blitz's new Asmodeon crystal in future adventures (esp from that one shot in the trailer w/ him using the portal effects against the DHORK crew), it looks cool~ ✨👍
....ummmm, ok I think that about covers my positives atm. Onto the problems I have with this exchange:
Stolas... okay, you were this close to actually doing a good job ending the Full Moon deal. Admitting to how "wrong" the transaction part of their dynamic was, allowing Blitz more "freedom" via-the crystal (that could also help avoid any legal issues that the Grimoire gave), even wishing him good luck with his I.M.P. business as the night drew to a close... ...buuuuut then Stolas just had to muddle everything up by his whole "even tho you don't have to be with me, I want you with me if you want it~🥺" ...which honestly came off selfish to me than anything else?? Like, dude... if you really ARE regretful of how long you let this deal go for, and truly DO want to let Blitz go... you CAN'T throw in such sappy, lovey-dovey words on top of that?? Otherwise, how can one blame Blitz for getting as confused & flustered as he was throughout that convo... you've basically just sent even more mixed-messages in the grand scheme of things, my dude-🤦‍♀️
"I have wanted you for SO long, the fact that you couldn't believe that I might have these feelings about you, that your first instinct is that its always about sex..." ...Ummmmm Stolas... did you seriously forget HOW this whole deal of yall's started?? 🤨 Waaaay back in the initial-series pilot, to the first official ep, and pretty much the majority of Season 1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as I checked, Blitz wasn't the one who kept making everything about sex... that. was all. YOU. 😒Heck, literally one of the first things you told Blitz upon reuniting as adults in "The Circus", was that you expected he wanted to "ravish" you-
Tumblr media
-so like, get outta here with the whole pushing-the-perv-responsibility-bs onto Blitz... you ain't helping your case >>
Finally... like, it was already getting bad enough by the point of Blitz begging & pleading out of fear he'd lose his livelihood without the book, AND not being allowed space to breathe after getting further pushed away (and thus, more pissed off-)... but THEN on top of all this, Stolas just haaaaad to throw in this lil gem: "Blitz... I think so very highly of you. I didn't realize you think so low of me..." ...Stolas, with all due respect... stfu with that lousy, last-minute uwu-ing self-pity party crap😑Just because you TRIED to show more attentive care & concern post-"Ozzie's", outside of the typical bedroom stuff... that ain't gonna prove shit if you're not gonna be consistent with it. Where was that "high opinion" of Blitz during the two of you getting stuck in the sitcom set during "Seeing Stars", when Blitz was having that panic attack performing live, where all you ended up doing was... just hitting on him/praising his bedroom skills again?? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like... couldn't you have just, I dunno... TRY to actually cheer him up/comfort him like an actual friend, would? Encourage him on his jokes, "just be yourself", promising another way out of there on his own merit... literally, anything could've worked fine and it wouldn't have come off so skeezy imho >>;;
...*sighs* so, yeah... thats basically what I had to get off my chest regarding the ending of "Full Moon". Honestly, had the writers actually committed to Stolas cutting off Blitz (even if harsh), giving the crystal with no strings, then going about their separate ways afterwards, I would've been totally fine with the scene tbh. But all this... odd lowkey-blaming of Blitz thrown in, the sappy words, and Stolas not once actually-apologizing during all this (Like, literally I checked and the only utterance of "sorry" seemed to come from Blitz's end before he got kicked out... for what, I dunno- 🤷‍♀️). Sorry for the length btw, but hopefully that about covers my thoughts on the matter-

The Full Moon ending is perfect!
A day in Stolas and Blitzø’s lives that summarises what’s happened so far.
Blitzø and Stolas are perfectly disastrous in their way and of course, they were going to collide at some point. After brewing for one and a half seasons, the miscommunication between these adorable idiots peaked. Who’s fault is that? Both! And in equal part! I can’t stand reading how many people blamed Blitzø alone. The truth is, they both acted incredibly wrong and also incredibly well for who they are.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with Stolas: he ran out of his happy pills on the most important day of his life (probably). Now, I can’t talk from experience because I never used antidepressants (at least I assume they are antidepressants), but I doubt that skipping one dose turns you into an emotional wreck. But the thing is, Stolas is autistic and I can relate to this and the way he behaved. The pills were something he could rely on to stay afloat probably during his whole sad life, so running out of it first thing in the morning in the middle of an emotional Dinsey princess moment was truly bad timing. Stolas found himself stripped of this little safety blanket. During his song, he gets happy, dramatic, desperate and hopeful. He most likely spent the day in a mood swing, and let’s remember that he wakes up at 7 AM and meets Blitzø at 11:56 PM, plenty of time to panic [Side note, the breakup happens 4 minutes later so at midnight on the dot, I love these little details]. Stolas knows how he feels about Blitzø, he has known for some time, and he’s ready to tell him. If I know a little bit about how a brain on the spectrum works, he most likely had been rehearsing any possible scenarios in his head for hours (or days, or months) and that’s why when Blitzø arrives, Stolas doesn’t say anything to interrupt the other displaying of sex toys, until he decides it’s time to stop Blitzø (that it’s clearly freaking out already at that point) and opens the conversation in the worst possible way ever: “I need it [the Grimoire] back. Permanently”. It seems unnecessarily cruel to just take the book from Blitzø, letting him tear up and beg. But then Stolas pulls out the box with the crystal and we have the Stolitz music playing and… but why make Blitzø cry and not just give him the crystal straight away? Because Stolas was too stuck in his mind already. He played out this scene so many times in his head, that he couldn’t act any different without losing his cool. Don’t get this wrong: from here on I absolutely LOVE how Stolas handled the situation, how he spoke, what he did and said, from kneeling in front of Blitzø, gently holding his hand to calm him down when he was about to panic, and then he gave him the crystal while confessing his feelings for him. Stolas at this point had been in touch and honest with his feelings for months (at least since Ozzie’s from what we can see on screen), but the main problem is that Stolas has no idea of what is going on with Blitzø, so when obviously Blitzø feels cornered and doesn’t want to face his feelings so abruptly and hides behind sex and roleplaying, Stolas loses his control over the situation and closes up for good. Anything that happens between “Do you…Do you have my book Blitzø?” and “That’s enough to know what this is” is a monologue. When Blitzø doesn’t follow the idea Stolas has in his mind, Stolas just walks away.
And this is VALID because Stolas has never been in a real relationship, he has no friends or family aside from Via, and he doesn’t know how to deal with people with complex emotions like Blitzø. It is quite common for people on the spectrum to assume that everyone else is alike, thinks alike, and responds similarly to certain patterns, so when Stolas doesn’t get the response he was expecting, he immediately reads it as rejection. He turns away from Blitzø and leaves without giving the other any chance other than yelling in anger and despair.
Tumblr media
On Blitzø's side things are more linear. He was and still is in constant… ignorance. Meaning he actively ignores his and Stolas’ feelings. I don’t think he is in denial, because he knows fully well he has feelings for Stolas at least since S1E6 Truth Seekers, he knows he fears intimacy and also craves it. And he most likely knows, at least in part, that Stolas has feelings for him as shown during the exchange with Fizz in Oops (that part was denial, yes). Blitzø knows this night is important and different. They haven’t seen each other for months. He was the one who decided to skip a few rounds when Stolas gave him the opportunity, and if we go with the text exchange in Western Energy, it’s safe to assume they haven’t seen each other since Seeing Stars and probably haven’t slept together since before Ozzie’s. Blitzø’s strategy to deal with his fears and feelings is to let things linger doing nothing in the hope they settle back to where they were when the deal was still new and comfortable. Because Blitzø doesn’t want to admit he has feelings for Stolas, but most of all he doesn’t want to accept that Stolas has feelings for him, because who can love him? Certainly not a prince of all people. Blitzø goes shopping to impress Stolas because he wants to keep staying in that deal, no commitment, no need to reveal his feelings, he could keep going forever, transactional sex is convenient and non-commmittal. (Inadvertently showing, while doing sex shopping, how much he cares for Stolas and how deeply he knows him and what he likes, he wants to make Stolas happy). He wants to go back to sex and show Stolas a “good time” so he doesn’t have to think about how he felt when he realised Stolas could get hurt. He doesn’t want to think about anything, but then, when Stolas takes control of the narrative, Blitzø can only be there and follow it until it gets too overwhelming. He tries so desperately to stick to the habits, to the point he has this massive slip when he tries to give back the crystal to Stolas and says he can always do better. He doesn’t want a way out. He doesn’t want to choose. He loves being in chains because it’s easy. He wants things to stay the way they are, for Stolas to use him as a sex toy, and to be used by him because admitting that he has feelings and that he sees that Stolas has feelings for him is too much. But Stolas clearly states how he feels and what he wants. Blitzø understands perfectly, but he can’t accept it, so he tries in a desperate attempt to get back to where they were, to pretend one more time. Blitzø runs away from the feelings Stolas is showing him in a way that triggers Stolas in the worst possible way. Stolas runs away from Blitzø when he can’t deal with his heartbreak anymore, triggering Blitzø’s fear that translates into an angry outburst. Stolas doesn’t stop for a second and doesn’t listen to Blitzø who is yelling at him to, basically, stop and listen to him. Blitzø says hurtful things to Stolas because he is desperate and he feels rejected and abandoned by him. After avoiding any type of confrontation for months, Blitzø finally gives in, but he’s hurt, angry and terrified so he does the only thing he’s comfortable with: he yells. He doesn’t know of Stolas’ past of being abused by his wife. Stolas just wants out, out of the feeling of being rejected (even if he obviously jumped to the wrong conclusions too fast) and away from yet another person screaming at him. Blitzø only manages to stop Stolas by yelling at him hurtful things he doesn’t fully believe. Unfortunately, Stolas listens to that. And for the first time in his life, he cries in front of someone. Blitzø finally realises how much his words hurt Stolas, but it’s too late to apologise and he finds himself teleported outside mid-apology.
Honestly, I don’t think they could have screwed up any worse than that even if they tried. But this needed to happen and I’m glad it did. Blitzø needed to see Stolas heartbroken to understand Stolas was in love with him. Stolas did the best he could for who he is, he made the first move, and now the ball is in Blitzø’s court.
I owe Blitz an apology. When speculating on The Full Moon I assumed it was going to end badly and I blamed Blitzø for it. Now that the episode is out I can see that mostly it’s Stolas’ fault. Yes, I said it, it’s predominantly Stolas’ fault if The Full Moon ended in tragedy, but this is important: Blitzø knows Stolas treated him wrong (not only in the last episode, many many times before that) but now he also knows that Stolas can get hurt physically and emotionally, and yes, he proved himself to be a pompous rich asshole that happens to also be deeply in love with him. Is then Stolas worth fighting for? I think we all know the answer. What I hope to see in Apology Tour is the both of them apologizing to each other AND to themselves. Neither Stolas nor Blitzø know what love is. They are trying and failing but in the end, they are both desperate for one another and if Stolas can get his head out of his ass and Blitzø finally drops the act for a minute, they could just… talk and start to figure things out. And maybe in Apology Tour we will know more about what happened with Verosika and why that relationship went South so badly, I bet it’s going to play a huge part in Blitzø’s future development.

If you had to write Helluva Boss, what would you change?
Get ready for a long ass rant. I’m actually planning on doing a full rewrite of Helluva and Hazbin with redesigns as well. But the major things I would change for Helluva are:
Blitzos and Stolas’ relationship: How they met will be the same as “The Circus” but they actually form a bond. Like, Blitzo is bored from being forced hanging out with Stolas by Paimon but after Stolas shows him his interest for pirates, he immediately becomes interested and they talk and play pirates like little kids do and Stolas falls for him even more. Then after they met again in the timeskip, instead of Stolas getting sexual and Blitzo SA’ing him, Stolas tries talking with Blitzo and telling him how much he missed him and even confesses his love for Blitzo but notices that he is trying to steal the Grimore and decides to make a deal with him that Blitzo could have the Grimore but meets Stolas once a month on the full moon to give the book back and just hang out. They do eventually fuck after a while but they actually both consent. While Stolas actually loves Blitzo, Blitzo wasn’t interested at first but as they continue their relationship, he actually starts slowly gains feelings for Stolas, but due to trust issues and his dark past, he tries to hide it.
Striker: He is going to remain mostly the same, but there are some changes I want to add. First off, he doesn’t make fun of Moxxie for not having much physical advantage like he did in the introduction episode, in fact, he actually gets along with him and relates to him. And second, his plan for stopping the Goetia family and bring equal rights to all creatures of hell will remain, but he won’t be presented as the bad guy, more of a gray area at first, then he realizes that Stolas isn’t like the rest of the Goetias and regrets trying to kill him before.
Millie: As shown in the show, shes just violent and loves Moxxie to death. While that’s great and all, there needs to be more outside of her relationship with her husband. In my version, she very overprotective of those she loves, violent, loves her husband to death, has family issues, sibling rivalry, especially with Sallie May, secretly has self confidence issues, sometimes speaks unclearly due to her verbal problems, on the autistic spectrum, has severe anger issues, and hates being alone. Also, the reason why she hated Chaz so much was because he has secretly cheated on her multiple times and all Millie wanted was someone to truly love her.
Blitzos relationship with Moxxie: It’s mostly the same, but Blitzo doesn’t call Moxxie the r-slur, isn’t ableist towards him, doesn’t SA him, doesn’t threaten to rape him, and actually treats Moxxie better after the events of “Truth Seekers” and even forms a good, healthy bond with him.
Sallie May: I think she’s cool and all but I wished that she had more character since she was merchandised so much. In my rewrite, she’s actually going to be shown as an actual character. She’s going to be shown as confident, high mighty, has a sibling rivalry with Millie but she cares for her and even killed for Millie before.
Stella and Octavia: For Stella, she won’t be shown as a complete antagonist. Stella was arranged to marry Stolas since they were children but she wasn’t a complete monster, though she had anger issues. Stella actually cares for him and Stolas and Stella actually had a pretty good, healthy relationship before he cheated on her. She was heartbroken after that and the reason why she hired Striker to kill Stolas was because the family manipulated her too. For Octavia, everything’s the same, except that in my rewrite, she doesn’t completely forgive Stolas but she doesn’t hate him and Stolas actually improves as a father and he and Octavia slowly start to have a good father daughter relationship again. I know that was a lot. I like to rant so if you want me to share my ideas for my Hazbin rewrite, expect more of my rants.

Vivziepoop's Dicksuckers Lack Any Self-Awareness
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They say this while in the series anyone that goes against her fan favorite characters are one dimensional hate sink characters like Striker and Stella. Also so far she's depicted heaven as just full of hypocrites and paints Adam (who is supposed to be the first human but turned into an angel for some reason) as a strawman sexist who has all his exorcists named after sexist names for women. A lot of these dumbasses downplay why sinning can be detrimental this just comes from a group of people who want to do the I'm not perfect card to shield the fact that they are horrible people who need to check themselves.
They call it strict morality when so far Vivziepoop acts like a pos to people around her and hates the fact anyone tells her she's a horrible person. Anyone who says that morality is a spectrum are often times people who want to usually hide the fact that they want to get away being pos. They want to call out self-righteousness right after their precious waifu tried to sic people on anyone who dared question her or in the case of Tracey Butler reject her so-called offering. Seriously, these people might think righteousness is strict, while having their own standard of it and lack any self-awareness about it.
Again these dumbasses forget why people are questioning all of this because of the fact that this hell already showed the worst still go there like Epstein and Hitler. They might try to depict it as heaven being too strict, but in my opinion it's full of people who delude themselves into thinking they are good people and they deserve to be in heaven despite not earning it. So they have to project it's the other side that is thinking in black and white when in reality it's because they don't want to change themselves so they could earn their way to be seen as good people.
Seriously, I will never get over that their interpretation of sins actually advocate for consent and not overindulging this just shows again they don't understand shit and it shouldn't be in hell. And again this is just to validate themselves. It's why we have the narrative always excuse Stolas for stuff and not hold him accountable because they don't think it's a case of right/wrong but what makes him happy damn anyone else's opinions in the matter. Again if it's really about control over human nature then you guys really don't understand shit about self-refection.

Why Helluva Boss Fails Where Villainous Succeeds At Making A Morally Grey World Questions The Moral Spectrum
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think what makes Helluva Boss fail at it's depiction of a morally grey world where things aren't as traditionally defined by good and evil is that the biggest thing it's supposed to be in hell. While Vivziepop claims she wants to reclaim hell, she also wants to make it a place of torment where the worst goes. The series implies that it's heaven having strict standards but on the other end we do see the types of sinners that populate it. Also another thing that makes it fail is that instead of showing moral grayness they just make apologies for character flaws that protagonists like Stolas and Blitzo have. While we are supposed to see them as complex, the same can't be said for antagonists who are clearly made to be one dimensional like Stella and Striker. The former is made into a stereotypical bitchy, abusive wife who is getting in between Stolas' happiness, while Striker is derailed into being labeled a supremacist when he really has a point about how corrupt the system in hell is.
There is also the fact that certain moral greyness doesn't make sense when you think about the fact that the Sins like Beelzebub and Asmodeus which call for moderation and consent which makes them seem counter to their sins. While it's supposed to supposedly give them moral greyness, it just completely misses the point of sins which is unlimited hedonism not matter what the cost. Also it doesn't help you can blatantly see which ones are Viv's favorites and as a result they get the sympathetic treatment that colors their portrayal. And from the leaks we see Lucifer is also getting neutered so that heaven looks worse than him including Adam who is supposed to be the first man but is depicted as sexist and enjoying slaughtering sinners. Again in that instant all that moral greyness is just bs and we know what side is really getting that fake greyness which is hell because she has a misguided idea that they can reclaim it for themselves. By making things too nice, it's obvious she really isn't making it hell but just some fantasy land with inconsistencies which sucks.
This is where I think Villainous succeeds because it plays around with the superhero genre which is ripe for looking at what is considered wrong or right. The premise is that superheroes are hunted by an organization that helps villains defeat heroes. The premise instead of trying to apologize that they are not so bad reminds us they are villains and can be ruthless. If you see all the stuff in the orientations, commercials, and other materials you can see the characters except 505 have even killed people. However, even with the characters not being good you can't help but love them because of the fact they are people with feeling while still being evil. You do feel a certain closeness with each other that prevents them from being totally unlikable.
Also the setting just being in the mortal world with villains and heroes doesn't have to adhere to the standard of hell which is how far can you go to make it still be hell. Nope, it's in a superhero world where supers are focused more on fame, fortune, and clout rather than helping people. They are even shown sometimes not to be so different than the villains with many of them having complex and sympathetic backgrounds. The true pure evil being is Black Hat who unlike how the great demon lords in Helluva Boss is blatantly shown as unrepentant and has no qualms about being depraved. He truly lives up to his image of being the embodiment of evil unlike Beezlebub and Asmodeus. While you can make Demencia and Flug sympathetic, you can't with Black Hat since that would go against his image of being the master of supreme evil.
Overall, I do think Vivziepop could take some notes how to really make a grey moral setting actually be grey. It can help her with her work.

Me: oooh I should put my selfships on like a spectrum from the purely loving romantic ships to the more rivalry based selfships that I have
Also me: oh but what about people like Stolas??? It would be weird to put him on the same spectrum when we’re not really romantic
Me: oooh I could do a y axis about how platonic vs sexual the relationship is, and then I’d have….
Me: ohhhhhhh no I’ve reinvented homestuck quadrants

“Blitz needs a partner who is supportive, understanding and level-headed, being there for him when he needs it.”
Gee if only there was someone in the show who was like that. Maybe they had a lengthy relationship with, maybe they tried to get close to him. Maybe just maaybe even getting a tattoo to signify how important he is to them…that they truly cared and loved him.
Oh wait, that’s Verosika Mayday! Oh but the show is just gonna toss her aside, a genuine character who didn’t force Blitz into anything, who actually cared about him and wanted to get close. Replacing that with a character who he has no common interests in, demeans him and his entire species and doesn’t seem to help in any real capacity.
I agree. I don't get why the show is shipping him with Stolas so hard, when someone like her makes so much more sense for him. Like you said, she's a level-headed woman, who generally cares about him and is trying to help him heal. All the while Stolas has a mountain of baggage of his own, has nothing in common with him, and is a huge toxic jackass that manipulates him only see him as an "impish plaything". It genuinely seems like Stolas is in love with an idealized version of Blitz after he was brought over to "be his friend" while Verosika is in love for him for who he is and wants him to get better.
I get it. Blitz has a lot of issues thanks to his past trauma. Him being a self-destructive tsundere, who pushes others away, including those who want to help him like her, makes sense and is realistic. But that doesn't mean that Stolas should be the end game ship for him or is best for him in the long run.
To be quite honest, sometimes it feels like the show is adding Stolitz because Stolas is the author favourite and it's a mlm pairing. Don't get me wrong. There's absolutely nothing wrong with mlm pairings. I have thousands of ones that I enjoy in various different media, and wrote plenty of fics with mlm pairings with them. Hell, I love Huskerdust and Val/Vox in Hazbin Hotel! I even get why some queer AFAB people and those on the ace spectrum prefer those over other kinds even if I'm not like that personally. Tossing two characters that aren't the best for one another together just because they're a m|m pairing while ignoring a much better match just because it's het is terrible writing. You should have your endgame ships based on compatibility and chemistry, not just because they are two guys and one is your fav.
