You know, the funniest thing about how the games treat Dracula compared to the show is that the former have no less than four foils for our villain! To really hammer in the point that dude chose to be a bastard when he could have not!
Alucard also lost Lisa - he watched her die, he listened to her last words, and by all account it was a slow, painful death. He could have been angry towards the mob who unfairly put his mother through such a terrible death. Instead, accepting Lisa's final message, he chose to protect humanity from his father's fury, and kill him over and over which causes him so much internal turmoil that he'd rather sleep his life away.
Soma discovered that his fate was to become the Dark Lord. He simply refused. In fact, he was scared to become the Dark Lord, to the point of making Julius promise that if he lost against Chaos, the vampire hunter would kill him. Soma wants to be a normal human with his friends, and he'll fight to stay so. (worthy of noting that he's the only foil here who can't resist the darkness' call when he sees his beloved die, in DoS: Mina's Talisman can only slow the process down for Arikado to intervene in time. It proves that he really has to struggle to remain as himself)
Hector also was forced to see her beloved be executed in a sham witch trial - deliberately! Isaac deliberately set this up to enrage him to the point of being easily manipulable, and Death deliberately fanned the flames of his anger so that he'd succumb to the Curse and become Dracula. Hector not only directed all of his anger to the only responsible for Rosaly's death, but by the end he pulled back, because he realized that anger was not real, and recognized Isaac as another victim before peacefully moving on.
And Leon also had his fiancée die (see a pattern here), in fact he had to strike the fatal blow, under her request. Mathias honestly believed that because of this, Leon would understand his grief, and also renounce to God. But Leon not only had no intention to forgive Mathias for his cruel plan, he insisted that he'd rather live as a human and honor Sara's final wish, than exist for all eternity all alone, the fate Mathias doomed himself to.
So yes, eventually it almost becomes funny how much the games keep insisting "look at how much of a pathetic loser Dracula is. what a weak bitch. really thinks he's all justified because Wife Died™. Look at all these badasses with Dead Wives™ and how they still do the right thing! lol, dracula. lmao, even."
the virgin "he did nothing wrong 🥺" vs the chad "he did everything wrong and he's a petty manbaby about it". we stan
(ofc there is the heavy implication that Dracula literally cannot move on nor become a better person because of Chaos' influence inside him, which is why his soul had to do a hard reboot in the form of Soma to be freed from the cycle of destruction he stuck himself in. But there is certainly a discussion to be had about how much this affects Dracula's agency and culpability)

∗ —— Adrian “Alucard” Tepes x D.
∗ —— Part one, part two, part three, part four ( coming soon ).
∗ —— NOTES: This story is inspired by some of the fanart that is done by tender miasma / suzannart! The worlds of Castlevania and Vampire Hunter D are connected to one and another.
“Belmont said that you have fought with his ancestors. How old are you D and now many of his ancestors have you worked alongside with?” Sypha asked the dhampyre but the man did not answer, only sighing in response. He didn't feel like striking up any type of conversation, he just wanted to get away from the three of them since they did nothing but bicker.
“He's very old,” the left hand spoke like D had done a couple of minutes ago, he had dug his nails into the face of the parasite but this time with an irritated scowl.
“Enough of your foolish antics.” D was bothered by not only his companion but the three fools behind him. “Once we are finally free from this area, I will be parting from the three of you. I did wish that it was four.” Of course he was referring to the fourth person as his hand.
“If I could leave you, I would but you would be absolutely miserable without me,” the hand exclaimed at the dhampyre who curled his fingers downward and into his palm, nails digging into the flesh for the third time. “That hurts you bastard!”
“We all need to stay together. The faster we can get to Dracula's castle the quicker we will be able to put an end to this.” Sypha took a couple of steps forward in a quick motion, now walking beside D who didn't bother to look at her.
“I work alone and the people of Wallachia will need someone to look after them before they get devoured by night creatures.”
“I'm sure that they would have some dislike towards you as well, you may be half of a human but I am sure as long as you have vampire blood or genetics, you will be seen as a monster nonetheless,” Alucard stated as D began to turn away from the trio.
“Anyone can be considered a monster whether they are human, vampyre, or a demon. Even if I am a vampyre hunter, I am aware of the many things that a mere man or even a child is capable of doing. No one in this world is truly innocent but it is enough to try to change such a thing and help those who are in need of it.”
“And what if they aren't willing to take some of your generosity? Would you still provide aid to those even when they push you away?”
“I cannot force anyone and shall not do it. Not everyone is willing to accept aid and some will look down upon it.” Alucard couldn't help but to think back. To think back how a year ago was when his mother was burned down to ashes because of her so-called witchery when the only thing she wanted to do was help those who needed it. “I'm sure that you three alone would be able to make it to the castle by yourselves without my aid. I will make sure that the creatures of the night do not come in between you or your travels.”
“So . . . You are helping us basically?” Trevor questioned.
“In a sense, yes, but it's more for the people and not for your benefit.” D had paused in his tracks and turned his head to look at Alucard, eyes narrowed and nothing but a frown worn upon his face. “You. Be wise of the choices that you decide to make.” With those words, D had continued to walk away from the trio and Alucard found himself averting his gaze.
Alucard knew that the man didn't trust him, he thought that he was going to end up like his father and become full of rage to the point where even he was going to cause destruction to Wallachia and its people. The blonde wasn't a fool, he was able to control his emotions despite being saddened and upset about his mother's death. As much as it was unfortunate, it was something that was bound to happen one day.
The only one that seemed to really believe that he had good intentions was Sypha and the other speakers who believed in the story of the sleeping soldier despite it seeming more dramatic than what it needed to be. Lost in his thoughts, he had walked away to clear his head in a secluded area while Trevor and Sypha went to meet up with her people. He would join them a little bit down the line but for now he needed some time to himself even if he had spent a whole year sleeping in a coffin. Some things needed to be planned out and organized and he wanted to do such in silence.
The night was rather cold, the fear that the people had worn on their faces was nothing but clear. D held his suspicions of Alucard. Even if he had swore that he was going to kill his father before he creates any more damage, he doesn't know what he may do afterwards or even beforehand. “Maybe you were a little too rude to him. He's just a kid,” his left hand commented despite his own rudeness to the dhampyre earlier.
“He is no child, he is a full adult. I'm sure that he is able to handle the things that will be thrown at him with the decision he has chosen to make.” Even the parasite of a hand could think that the dhampyre was rather cold towards others at times, such a thought was rare considering his own personality.
“Don't give me that shit, you could have been a little bit nicer to him and you know it.” After all, Alucard had just lost his mother a year ago and to be able to stop the upbringing madness being caused and the possible end of the existence of humans, the blonde would have to kill his own father. A soft huff escaped D’s lips, maybe he could have but he wasn't going to during all of this. There was business that needed to be taken care of.
“This is no time for mourning and treating him with sympathy. The fate of the world lies within his hands.” His eyes narrowed underneath the tip of the hat that he wore so low and his lips were curled downward into a frown.
Only a couple of hours had passed until the sun slowly began to shine within the sky, the people who were hiding in their homes soon coming out to see that they were alive. D made sure that the night creatures didn't lay a single hand on a civilian or even glanced in their direction. Not many had shown up, maybe at least seven. Most of them were killed in the horde from earlier on when night took its course. The vampire hunter walked around and tended to people's needs even though they were skeptical of him due to his vampirism.
“Ye could have fuckin' stopped this!” There was one man who pointed at the black haired hunter, poking him directly in the chest.
“No, I couldn't have. The only thing that I can provide for you right now is safety from the creatures of the night after the people decided to burn down that woman you call a witch.” The hand was swatted away and the tip of his hat was pulled downward to hide his irritated expression.
“Cause she was a bloody witch!” The man shouted, rather angrily. D fell silent upon those words. He knows well that marrying a vampyre would be more than enough to get her killed though he doesn't know the whole story. After a couple of seconds, he had found himself walking away from the male, hearing curses escape his rather vulgar mouth. Humans in Wallachia didn't seem like the best group of people, rather inappropriate and stupid; blind. Seeing that most of the people were fine, he decided to leave them be for a moment and see if there was anything that he himself had needed.
“Hunter D!” He heard a familiar voice come from behind him which made him turn his gaze.
“Speaker . . .have you grown tired of them already?” As much as it seemed like it was a joke, the tone of his voice was serious.
“Well yes and no. I left the two of them alone so I would be able to find a covered wagon and some horses for travel. We can't move as fast as we want to on bare feet, you know?”
“That didn't seem like the best idea to leave them alone with one another. Maybe they are going at each other's throats right now.”
“I wouldn't be surprised. They haven't stopped their stupid bickering.” The female would let out a soft sigh, closing her eyes in the process. “I was wondering if maybe you can tag along with us. I know that you wish to tend to the people but it will be faster if we were to all travel together, don't you think?”
“As much as that seems to be true, I do not think that I will have the patience to deal with those two and if I went off on my own and fought off those night creatures before they reached you, it would make travel much smoother.” Sypha nodded her head, that would probably be the best option and she is sure that the small dispute between him and Alucard may get worse.
“Just promise that you won't get yourself killed, alright?”
“How insulting, I am a hunter. I am only doing my job.” D turned himself away but before he could walk away, a bag of coins was tossed in Sypha's direction which was caught. “This should pay for what you need for now. Between the three of you alone, I am sure that you wouldn't have enough.”
“Thank you, I'll make sure the two idiots don't get a hold of it.” With that being said, she watched D as he began to walk away from her before leaving herself to go the opposite direction. She knew it may take some time for her to find someone who sold wagons, nonetheless horses. It was likely that the night creatures could have destroyed them to stop the people from leaving but with their journey, the trio needed one.

At least maybe in this world Alucard can get the ending he wants? Sure Jonathan might not be 100% human physically anymore but he’s still human, you know? And very ready to get some Alucard murdering done.
The questions to consider:
Can Jonathan's kukri do the job of putting him down permanently?
I'm sure something could be cooked up about him and the blade having potency from back home, having successfully slain the Original Dracula and carried over supernatural juice. That or some plot rule about it being further magically honed to the point where the combo of weapon and wielder make the slaying possible. There'd be a requisite ~Thou Art Not Worthy~ moment in which some villain makes a wrong assumption, snatches up the kukri and goes for the kill--only for Alucard to once again pop back up, all smiles. No Jonathan = No potency. RIPieces.
Is Jonathan allowed the narrative opportunity to slay Alucard?
Remember, Jonathan is used to biting increasingly horrifying and/or infuriating bullets for the sake of a Greater Good (up until it involves Mina, who overrules everything). The fact that Alucard is technically Dracula doesn't automatically allow him to override the Greater Good needs just because there's an innate urge to carve the bastard up.
Because Alucard is
1) Insanely overpowered to the point that he has such a puny weak point that it takes THE ENTIRE HELL-MESS OF THE SERIES to allow Millennium the one (1) window of opportunity to poison his power well and temporarily un-exist him and
2) Unfortunately very necessary for Hellsing's whole vampire hunting mission. Seras' presence at least proves they aren't in full 'all vampires are automatically evil and need slaying!!!' mentality, which helps. But even with Hellsing's forces and Seras and (for the foreseeable future) Jonathan's own cryptid strengths in the field, Alucard is THE major player on their side. If Jonathan just up and slew him, where would that leave the heroes? Or the world?*
(*Aside, it would be hilarious if Jonathan just lopped his head off, full dust dissolve, and Walter and Millennium and Anderson all simultaneously dropped dead of a mass rage aneurysm because THEY didn't get to have their special grisly shounen battle pissing match.)
Anyway.
It boils down to Jonathan having to extremely grudgingly play placid with Alucard's presence. Which Alucard would happily take advantage of in two directions.
First, the obvious baiting to try and wheedle fights out of him. Both when he'd wipe the floor with Jonathan and when he's juiced up enough by the plot to take him on in full.
Second, the likewise obvious wheedling about his liminal relationship with humanity and pulling a 'we're not so different' with the whole acknowledgment of God's less than sterling record when it comes to their histories, no matter how many amens are thrown around. Alucard would be bothering this dude like a cat who's found the one person in the room who wants less than nothing to do with him.
...and then.
Then would come the slaughter in the hotel.
Even if Jonathan wasn't there, he'd see the footage. He'd know Integra technically gave the order and allowed Alucard to go wild. Soldiers slaughtered over a lie they were fed. Innocent bystanders caught in needless crossfire. Bodies speared on flagpoles. For the pageantry of it. All when it's glaringly obvious that Alucard, being Alucard, could've swatted the whole problem without killing a single one of them. (Just like he never had to shoot Seras over the vampire in the little village.)
Because Jonathan Harker, the real one, not the flimsy blotted-out stand-in Alucard likely knew in his universe, is not meant to be here. He's not meant to swallow all this aggro horror bullshit and keep trucking without issue. The fact that Seras seemingly gets over it within the night (or at least successfully represses it) also has to be a blow. All that being said, I think that arc would be the absolute closest Jonathan would come to snapping and trying to put Alucard down once he was in reach.
I imagine Walter, Pip or Seras might try to stop him. (For the first time, Alucard pulls one of his guns on Pip and Walter pre-betrayal and commands Seras to stand down.)
I imagine Integra might be on the edge of 'ordering' Alucard to stop him, whatever that might entail. (Alucard communicates, verbally or otherwise, that if she makes him kill this man, there will be such swift Hell to pay that she won't have time to articulate a single syllable in time to stop him.)
I imagine there being a surprisingly close fight. And an even more grief-inducing close to said fight when, of course, Jonathan still can't kill him--if not due to ability, then due to the Needs of the Many Outweigh the Lives of Collateral Damage. It's not allowed. Alucard is almost sickeningly sincere in his condolences. (I picture him treasuring his first and only wound in centuries--a clean red scar, just above his brow, where a shovel spade once cut him in another unlife. It never goes away. He loves it.)
Time would have to pass. The big ugly climax comes along. Jonathan has to watch the bloody purging of Alucard's internal army to put down Millennium and Iscariot's forces in the midst of an already-insane slaughter of the country. Anderson happens. Walter happens. The blimp happens. And I think, for a perfectly bittersweet irony?
Jonathan saves Alucard's life.
Specifically, by using his special kukri on Schrodinger the False Child, who was meant to poison Alucard at his core.
There's something vicious in how once upon a time Jonathan was willing to get himself killed to save a stolen child from Castle Dracula's bloodsuckers, and was unable to, only to arrive at slaying a monster in the shape of a smiling young boy to protect a version of Dracula himself. Bonus points if Schrodinger gets a full ??? reaction upon realizing, oh, wait, this blade has genuinely killed him and he won't be coming back--the cat is no longer in the box, the cat is out and he is dead--before he could taint Alucard and vanish him.
Alucard is both a little huffy and over-the-moon fucking insufferable about the revelation.
For mercy's sake, we'll say that maybe killing Schrodinger had some delayed magic effect that finally FINALLY allows Jonathan to zap back home to Mina in his proper universe before he has to put up with Alucard forcing a friendship necklace on him or something.
(No, he does not want to talk about where all this blood and evil catboy gristle came from, darling. He would like a very long nap. Wake him in a few days, please.)

Alucard would have some much fun if he finds out that his s/o is ticklish. He just loves their laugh so much. Especially if he’s the cause of it. Rip to the reader’s peace of mind tho. Through out the day he’ll sneak up on them like a giant red tickle monster.
Of all the monikers Alucard could recieve, "giant red tickle monster" is probably not on in his top 20.
You were so unbelievably on edge.
To the average person, you looked like you were just walking to the kitchen of the Hellsing mess hall.
Which you were.
But there was also a tenseness to your movements. Your shoulders were squared and tight, arms wrapped around your middle, and head looking about as if you were being followed.
Which was also a possibility.
Never did you think such an insignificant quirk would become your worst weakness, and even worse that your lover would be so cruel to use it against you. It's only been a week, and yet every moment of everyday is spent in a constant state of fear. Can't you catch a break?
But alas, a familiar coat of red suddenly materializes through the wall right next to you, making you scream bloody murder.
"ALUCARD, NO!" you shriek.
The vampire's hands rip your arms from your waist, wrapping his around in replacement. His white gloved fingers immediately dig under your shirt, finding purchase on the smooth skin of your sides and stomach.
His laugh was that of pure evil, before he begins his attack.
"AAAAAHAHAHAHA!" you begin to uncontrollably giggle, squirming in his firm embrace as his head sits on top your shoulder, pressing himself cheek to cheek with you. You can feel his wide and satisfied smirk against your jaw as you cry out for freedom.
You know the longer this goes on, the more his enjoyment will increase. He just loves leaving you so weak as your beautiful laugh echos in his ears.
Try as you may, your darling Alucard continues to hold strong, and you couldn't break his grip on you.
"A-Alu! Alucard, ple-he-hease!" you cackle, throwing your legs in the air as he holds you against his chest.
Tears begin to water in your eyes, and your lungs felt like they were jumping against your rib cage as the monster continued his merciless assault, hands meticulous and expertly guided, knowing all your weak spots.
"You know what you have to say, Dearest. Just one word," Alucard chuckles in your ear, before placing a heavy kiss against your neck.
One of his hands makes its way out of your shirt, rising upwards and finding a place on your inner clavicle, beginning a new assault above your collar bone.
"Wa-wait!" you cry in alarm, arms gripping the sleeves of his coat, "mercy! Mercy, Alucard!"
Alucard's fingers continue to dance on your shoulder and waist for a moment longer, before finally pulling away. His arms wrap back around your middle as you finally find a moment to breathe normally, going slack against Alucard's tall frame.
"You— *huff* —you ass..." you gasp, as you feel him kiss up your neck, before leaving a soft one on your cheek, "can't I just get myself a cup of hot-chocolate without being assaulted?"
"Not if you keep leaving yourself open like that," Alucard laughs.
"I live here, you bastard!"

My headcanons for this…..eldritch abomination
Know remember these are just my opinions, if you don’t like, don’t read, if you hate it don’t like or comment 😌, but if you want to share something anyway, I’ll gladly hear you out on it ☺️
Tumblr media
Alucards the kinda guy to go flirting around but he would never ever in his life date someone, hookups are the only thing he’s into but sometimes he hardly ever does them
The only people he true actually loves are his children (Integra and seras)
Anyone else, you’re either breakfast, lunch and dinner (as in just food) or absolutely nothing to him
Alucard hates Catholics (especially from what happened to vlad when he was younger), he hates priests the most or highly classed catholic men,
Tumblr media
(He can kinda tolerate Anderson)respects him for being a good man and a even better father ,that’s his brother the man who fights him and that’s all Anderson is to him, is like the brother he never wanted but still respects a tiny bit
(I don’t really ship Andercard nor am I really comfortable with it, so I see them as brothers who just fucking hate each other but respect each in combat because they are men!)
Yes I do think Alucards a bit gay but I doubt he’d ever actually touch a guy or a woman in my opinion
He’s the kinda man to get affection from a stranger and get extremely uncomfortable after that, he only expects affection from his kids no one else……(maybe old Walter……and the wild geese and pip)
That’s about it…. Listen I hate this guy like seriously, he makes me uncomfortable and he gives off I’m a huge creep vibes , I just hate him he’s so annoying and he looks like a burnt weasel
I doubt he ever washes and clean up, I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t know basic human hygiene is, which he probably doesn’t because I bet he stinks of blood and gore and sewers, that’s why I gave him the name Stinkie card or nasty bastard
Alucards the main character why do I hate him? I don’t know probably because his ego reminds me of a shitty person in my life , he’s so cringey and creepy.
Okay I’m sorry half of this isn’t even head canons I’m sorry, it’s just me being a jerk to a drawing
BUT STILL! I don’t like him….

Random headcanons that come to mind at any time in my life
For me, Alucard has two personalities, in the anime you see him change radically.
When he is Count Dracula, he is serious and sinister. an imposing and terrifying figure. someone mythical
but like Alucard, the vampire hunter, he is a cynical, smiling bastard, who talks just enough but is always so ironic and sarcastic. treating people like children but being philosophical at the same time.
Although he is the same person, it is interesting how they show us two different facets.
One linked to the past, and another to its present frozen in time

Propaganda below ⬇️
Father Anderson
He’s probably on some kind of crack during the entirety of the series, I literally don't remember any aspects of him other than the fact that he just goes “AMENNNN” sometimes and has a habit of stabbing the shit out if anything that isn’t catholic. He’s the founder of deranged catholic bastard gaming, he has to be.
Semi immortal scottish priest who works for the vatican's secret vampire killing order. He can carry an absurd number of bayonets on his person and teleport using bible pages. Hates the protestants and has beef with Dracula at the point that while they are both fighting against the army of nazi vampires who are invading London he tries to kill him because Dracula makes himself vulnerabile. He's more than ready to lead a crusade against England but when his boss (who Anderson himself raised) admits that it's for a personal power grab and not for any kind of religious reason he dosen't hesitate to kill him in cold blood. Eventually dies after becoming an holy abomination by stabbing his hearth whit a piece of the cross
He’s so out of his mind he battles jacked up twink Count Dracula, AKA Alucard with bayonets. Not a rifle, just bayonets. He’s merciless, constantly spouting off bible quotes and speaking of his hate for Protestants. He’s a member of the Judas Iscariot Organization, Vatican Section XIII, within the Irish Catholic Church. He becomes so obsessed with his desire to kill the Vampire Alucard, formerly Dracula, he impales himself through the heart with the Nail of Helena in order to transform into a humanoid monster of holy thorns. Though his attempts fail, as Alucard rips his heart out and returns him to dust, Anderson is described as “his beloved rival”. He is complex, badass and wickedly devout.
Since Integra is a dirty protestant, i'm adding the actual catholics in the mix instead.
I’m sure you’ve gotten him by now but just so you know, this man fights Dracula on the regular for the Catholic Church and says “Amen” like a lunatic.

OK. idk whether the last ask sent just without links, or it didnt send at all, so im gonna retype it. if you got it feel free to ignore this lol. links are at the end IF you want to listen to these to see what the hell in talking about, but absolutely no requirement/expectation/pressure to listen, its just for ease of access in the case you do
so basically for arikado’s whole arc for this story its him becoming his father, right? ill revisit that thought later
so first of all, alucard has a theme. we already have a basis of characters which sort of turn against everything they once stood for for one reason (possessed by evil wizard) or another, having motifs of their main theme sort of used in a way that almost bastardizes the main theme, so i think for phase 1 of the fight, that would work rlly well for arikado. his main theme is dracula’s castle, and his secondary is tragic prince, so we would take that and sort of bastardize it, make it sound unnerving and uncomfortable to the listener on a subconscious level. so lets look at how to do that in the first place.
with richter’s theme, divine bloodlines, the main motif is taken from that and put against a backdrop of much more unnerving music. blood relations, which keeps parts of divine bloodlines, sounds much darker, because it takes the piece and puts it in a very unusual signature that has less of a sense of innate balance to the listener (5/4) to kind of throw you off and make you feel wrong-footed. it also uses the percussion to sort of drive this unnatural beat a bit, so already it sounds sort of… wrong. on top of that, you transcribe the motifs used to a minor key, transforming it from a more heroic, triumphant piece, to one of more of a… sad and upsetting feeling. almost like a hero disgraced. it also changes the instrumentation a bit to more eerie sounding instruments, or instruments that can purvey the eerier sound better. It changes some of the chords slightly to add discord, and adds some quick and staccato harmonies, which utilize chords that, if all notes were played at once, would sound very uncomfortable. some of the scale (for lack of a better term) sequences are also used to build tension and add to the pervading sense of wrongness, ending in a way that doesn’t quite Sound right or complete
theres also other ways of making songs that sound uncomfortable or unnerving, as are utilized in songs like pagoda of the misty moon, which, yes, still utilizes the discordant chords of course, but it also utilizes the very, very deep piano part to add to the atmosphere, and utilizes what sounds to be runs with accidentals, as well as the timpani, and the tremolo on the violins, as well as, while being in what sounds like 3/4, uses percussion to make it SOUND like an abnormal time signature. so there are a lot of different ways to go about creating that type of atmosphere, and what youd utilize depends on the vibe youre going for, plus also the personality of the character themselves. for example, the deep piano part i think COULD work very well for arikado personally, but its up to debate.
(theres also the underlying theme of boss themes in general having weird time signatures, specifically BECAUSE while you subconsciously seek out cues from music, its much harder to do that with weird time signatures. 5/4 with richter, and, with other franchises, 13/7 or something like that for ganondorf from oot, and for marx in kirby’s games, the time signature changes every measure. thats not SUPER important, i just think its very neat :) )
so effectively, in writing an arrangement of this, you might utilize some of those ideas (and maybe do further research on other themes in music that make the viewer uncomfortable). THAT would be the best way to create a bastardization of the song.
there might be other aspects to consider, to give the song a feeling of repetition, as if repeating the past, but not SO repetitious that it bores the listener. this being a boss battle song already lends itself to repetition as that is the nature of boss battle themes, so ill skip that.
this may be difficult to do bc, as is the nature of boss battles being that you can transition to the 2nd phase at any time, BUT i do think itd be VERY interesting to have a very seamless transition into the 2nd phase theme, which would be dance of illusions, which. as you may or may not know. is draculas main and most iconic boss battle theme :) . id probably give it 4 repeats instead of the 2 that tends(?) to be more typical with that song, to add to the building tension and sense of dread, ESPECIALLY for those that recognize the song, either consciously or subconsciously, as they realize what song is playing. theres a few versions of that song but most likely itd take a lot more inspiration from the sotn & dos versions more than anything. of course it would utilize the more uneven sound of the intro, which would then lead into the much more balanced, march-like time signature the majority of the song is in. this theme combined with the song of the previous phase, which would utilize the more unnatural rhythm of a time signature like 5/4, COULD also kind of give the impression of like, the turbulence arikado initially feels as he sort of realizes hes becoming his father, transitioning to him accepting and embracing that role, or even more of SOMAS pov of this whole thing, of the discord btw how THEY view arikado vs who he rlly is, with the 2nd phase be more soma accepting who arikado truly is/has become, but thats more of a choose-how-to-interpret-it thing that would be more up to the listener, and would depend more on how you want to develop the story and arikado’s feelings regarding everything. more importantly the use of doi, ESP an arrangement more similar to the sotn doi, symbolizes how much arikado HAS become his father at this point.
these next 2 sections are more… optional.
first would be the prelude, the part that plays during the dialogue leading up to the boss fight. for this i would say it would be best to have a music of slower tempo, with an air of uncertainty, and yet weight and inevitability. not a song from the cv series, but there are two parts of sealed vessel that do this in different ways; first is thw first few seconds of the song, as you have long, tremolo notes held, building up into a chord as you slowly prepare for the actual fight itself. theres also latter half of sealed vessel (2:16-4:34) is a very good example of this. it opens with a slow section where there are two parts playing in a minor chord, playing a very melancholy harmony, which then adds the long, legato, meandering violin run, which repeats itself, slowly adding instruments in a way that makes it sound almost like the piece is slowing down, until it begins a run DOWN the scale into the last either one of these make a good example of how you could build up the emotion to the fight, but that would depend on whether that would be included at all or not.
the second optional part would be something that COULD play at the end of the piece IF you get the good ending. itd be best if the note that doi ends on on its own were one that feels unfinished, unresolved, which works for both endings; in the bad ending, it IS left unfinished, as the cycle continues anew, and never finds a real sarisfying end, it just keeps. going. but with the GOOD ending, you instead have this section added on to the end. revisiting sealed vessel, the very end (starting at about 4:34), there is an ending to the piece that feels tragic, mournful, but complete, which, if mimicked, could symbolize a few things, but i like the idea that its adrian actually being like. allowing himself to truly mourn his father, and feel remorse for his own actions. i think the best thing for this would be to utilize the original, unbastardized, version of dracula’s castle, but in a much slower and more mournful and weighted rendition, to symbolize both his allowing himself to mourn and his regret, but also him potentionally resolving to attempt to return to who he once was, to the version of himself he forgot?
anyways um. i DO want to write an arrangement of this but well see how much energy i have to do that.
also absolutely no expectation of you to listen to All Of These but here are the links if youre curious and want to listen :)

okay fair warning i dont have much to add because i dont know much about music and also youve laid everything out very nicely already but this is very interesting and i am paying lots of attention! dance of illusions isnt my favourite dracula theme but as the one thats most iconic and also the one that tends to appear most, it would be a bit silly if it wasnt used even though id also love to be able to jam dracula appears from loi into things somewhere just for the thrill of things, especially if the end goal is to emphasise a transition between alucard and dracula similar to the one that was already kind of happening in the background
i know even less about how any of it would actually function in practice, but some other themes ive also been hemming and hawing about are the alucard battle theme from legends (a deep cut, but hey) and encounter or big battle from cviii: one because itd be a nasty twist on things (new game new alucard yada yada but also im just a passionate cviii stan in general) and the other because its chronologically speaking sort of the first dracula battle theme and i think that. fits. as i said though, dance of illusions is iconic, so not really replaceable.
im writing this in a bit of a rush (busy but i passed out for 8 hours and feel bad leaving you waiting too long) but i think an important part of all this would be having soma slap some sense into him, seeing as soma is both the one who keeps trying to break draculas own cycle, is the one arikado has arguably used the most, and is also arikados theoretical foil -- personally i feel like soma and arikado are more acquaintances than anything before this, and getting alucard to talk about anything ever was like pulling teeth and im sure arikado is far worse so i couldnt see them really bonding at that point, but in a situation like this maybe it would be more feasible for them to form an actual connection? which ties into the idea of arikado, too, finally letting go of the cycle slash dracula and whatnot.
in the good ending, anyway
that said, julius and yoko are also obviously important, julius for what are probably pretty obvious reasons and yoko as both The Belnades (which is actually detrimental considering, their roles as the belmont and the belnades inherently force them to sort of 'adhere' to the cycular nature of this mess), but also as the one person who, throughout the games, arikado is shown to have the closest relationship with. she knows his identity before anyone else, they may or may not have been cooperating in aos, shes the first to defend his character to soma, etc etc, he even goes and visits her shop to give her the hot gossip in dos lmao. so bring them too ofc

So I've been seeing that OC asks thing that's been floating around by @yvesdot and decided to take a crack at it with Miriam, so fair warning, this will be a long post.
1: Doesn't really sleep with stuffed animals but absolutely would if given one. Miriam is incredibly fond of soft fluffy objects so I imagine she'd love to have one.
2: She should be able to take care of one, she's half dryad after all. Which is ironic considering she's half vampire. Has been known to be very fond of cats and pigeons, still very miffed that pigeons are considered dirty. Also could take care of a child, though she'd be a strict mother.
3: Miriam doesn't have a currently have a love interest aside from a joke ship, however she was with Carmilla (different from gonzo my version is more based on the book that predates Dracula) and she'd probably say "She's beautiful with the way her eyes can appear to be the colour of soil to the brightest of rubies. She is a soul like no other, sweeter than the sweetest strawberry and yet can be more vicious than the sharpest thorn. I gladly fight in her stead, wetting my blade with blood in her name."
4: Yes, yes she does. The only reason I don't put her in red more often is because otherwise she can look a bit too much like Alucard. Thankfully she's not as allergic to colour as he is lmao
5: If the situation demands it or she gets frustrated enough, the genes to be dramatic has been passed down. She will mostly give ones meant to kick men into gear due her history as a general, or she'll make a speech about the uselessness of fighting for nothing, a hollow thing in her eyes.
6: Person she always takes advice no matter what? Hmm, does it count if it was a dead man? Alive it would probably be Irons whom she trusts despite being older than him, dead the man who mentored her. As for person she never takes advice from no matter what would probably be Arthur or the pope, my gal hates the church with a passion.
7: In three words? Morally grey, wrathful, determined. For her, she'd describe herself as Godless, unnatural, and a bastard.
8: She likes puzzles, they're entertaining to her, loves the ones that you have to put together to make different shapes. A fan of mysteries as well.
9: empathizes with books, specifically the burned ones because it reminds her of herself and how humans try to get rid of her as well.
10: Probably when she was 212 because she'd have been with Carmilla at the time, who made her feel like a person and not an abomination of God.
11: Save, this woman only really uses money for bribes or when she needs to legally buy something like property.
12: Enjoys romance because she can dream for a little bit that she's normal and doesn't have to be careful with whom she interacts with
13: From her mother? How to make tea from Garlic flowers; from her father? To learn to be more okay with feeding and learn how to use her more vampiric abilities more effectively and efficiently.
14: Yes, this woman's guilty pleasure is garlic, she is also allergic to garlic. Fortunately it's the flowers she really has to worry about, and the garlic just gives her mild food poisoning.
15: Probably social functions that are just there to flaunt wealth and nothing more. Also thinks hunting for the sport of it is also a waste of time (and wasteful in general).
16: Honestly? She'd probably indulge a little in a fine dress, because she does like pretty dresses, but mostly would wear pants and more soft fabrics yet pretty fabrics with a lot of beading.
17: Yes, she is fond of them
18: tongue, all the way, might even playfully nip or get a fang "accidentally" caught on a lip.
19: Will study before tests, will wing it with interviews.
20: hurdy-gurdy, loves it to bits.
21: honestly? Betraying her, or otherwise being dishonest over a long period of time. Might just straight up eat her partner if they're abusive.
22: loves pet names, will default to ones from other Ukrainian or Romanian, usually the latter. Most used would be iubițel or iubi. Has been known to give nicknames to specific people, like Integra she might call Ursuleț or little bear.
23: Novelty, though she thinks she wishes for Stability, what she actually wants is to not have to worry about fighting or bloodshed for at least a century.
24: Honesty
25: Possibility, this woman might have grown tired of bloodshed, but she's not opposed to taking beneficial opportunities when she sees them.
26: A mix of both, admires talent, but admires effort more, for effort will turn into talent with enough time.
27: Vengeance all the way, this woman killed a man's entire family one by one before killing because he killed her lover, and before that was a killer of those who killed werewolves when she found them, sometimes going so far to kill members of the church. Definitely has a blood price sort of mentality.
28: She is the fixer upper, or she'd make them worse, no in between
29: Has a tendency to dream of the church or to dream of finding Carmilla's dead body or her mentor and his pack dead.
30: Probably raise Carmilla back from the dead just for a night, but knows better than to subject her beloved to that.

Hit me wirh 11, 23, 24 and 30 for holland vosijk!!! 18, 19, 25 and 28 for kell maresh as well!!
cats i hope you are ready for me to lose my fucking mind. adsom spoilers incoming
holland vosijk:
11 - first thing when you think about when you think about them: "'vosijk', he almost said. 'my name is holland vosijk.' but it didn't matter now.". there is so much emotion packed into that line and i have it written on a post-it note stuck to my laptop, so that i can suffer emotionally every time i open it. i cannot think about him without the agonies striking
23 - future headcanon: if he had survived a conjuring of light, he would have worked on improving relations between arnes and makt in order to try and undo some of the damage caused by osaron's disappearance. dying is not the only sacrifice a person can make, and the most selfless thing holland could have done at that point was keep living and keep fighting, and in doing so the magic would gradually be able to return. he makes a better diplomat than ruler, seeing as he never wanted the crown, though he would have reclaimed it until he found someone he trusted enough to take over.
24 - what do you think is a secret they have never told anyone: hm. the danes and osaron would have gotten anything they wanted out of him, and he would have told vortalis a lot of things, but i dont think he would have willingly shared the story of how vor died, both because of the vulnerability it entailed and the fact that he never stopped blaming himself. the wound is too raw even seven years later for him to be able to talk about it, and the one person he could discuss it with was dead
30 - funniest scene: giving another one of his scenes that makes me smile. when he is imprisoned beneath the soner rast, a group of guards come in to attack him on behalf of lila, and he just sits there as kell comes in and threatens to attack them all because he 'thought they wanted bloodsport'. only after they leave does holland say anything, and the bastard simply says 'my hero' and attempts to move on. i believe this was also when kell said (paraphrasing) 'you seem awfully good at making enemies. have you ever tried making friends?'. everybody knows this man is a cunt and he does nothing to dispel the rumours.
kell maresh:
18 - how do you think they were as a kid: this largely aligns with canon, but he was simultaneously quiet and cocky. he would never go out of his way to interact with people outside of the palace + tieren, but he was well aware of his intelligence and skill, and willing to flaunt it to get his way or piss people off (see: fletcher). simultaneously a sweet kid and the most infuriating type of child to try and interact with.
19 - most random ship you've seen: the two most popular kell ships are kellila and kellholland, both of which i am fond of, and the adsom fandom is not big enough for rarepairs to be common, so i have not really seen any random ships with him. that being said. i do not like kell/rhy or kell/rhy/alucard, for obvious reasons, though i have stumbled upon it on ao3 before
25 - when do you think they acted most ooc: this is a hard one, probably when he inadvertently convinced king george iii that he could fly. it is the sort of trick kell would pull on someone from grey london that he disliked, but he was fond of george, and putting someone unstable in a dangerous position, especially when he cared about them, is unlike kell. because that man does not care easily, but he cares very deeply.
28 - most unnecessary thing they ever did: discounting the whole 'kay' thing in threads, because i have only read it once and do not have access to the book right now to elaborate accurately, throwing holland's body into black london. logically, i understand it. emotionally, it was uncalled for, and if he hadn't done that, osaron never would have been set free, and he wouldn't have suffered the issues with his magic post-acol. he said the man had suffered enough and then sent his mutilated body to faux-hell. holland did not deserve that.

That was one of my criticisms for Castlevania Season 2, when I watched it back in 2018: so much screen time spent on Dracula moping and waiting for release from his pain. I think such a miserable position for the FINAL BOSS should've been preserved for an endgame reveal, instead of explicitly displayed for hours of animation frames. But, if you could adjust his arc, where would you do it?
Alright, so.
My unshakeable idea is that the CoD prequels tell a perfectly coherent story, and a good writer could have easily intertwined the hero side of Trevor and the gang approaching Dracula's castle and bonding in the meantime (bonding, not Alucard participating in the Cunt Olympics), with the villain side showcasing Dracula destroying villages and losing himself in his fury and Hector being so disgusted by the senseless violence that he leaves, creating a chain of events where Isaac has to follow him to kill him/retreive him, therefore leaving Dracula unprotected against the legendary Belmont, his son, and a terrifying witch. (in this version there's not even Death, so Dracula really was left without his best people)
What kills N!Dracula in S2 is that he has zero drive. The villain plot hinges exactly on this point. He's patiently waiting for everyone to die, but he's not supervising the war that he has started, leaving room for discord, discontent, doubts, and giving this random regional ruler the chance to swoop in and seize control by simply telling Hector "hey cutie follow me 😘".
The idea that the other vampires disagree with Dracula makes sense. He is leading them to a slow, painful death by starving. I do think Dracula should have grown more paranoid and eager to mantain control, though: N!Dracula strikes me as being disrespected and not even worthy of respect. Again, I remind you of the fact that Carmilla made fun of him and Lisa in front of everyone, and Dracula let her go without so much as a slap on the wrist. No fucking way this should fly. This is not a villain I can take seriously. I want this bastard back:
Tumblr media
"this bitch believes he can have an opinion. yeet"
Like. Have him being a menace to everyone in the court. A hated menace, maybe, but for fuck's sake give him back some charisma! None of that "my fwiends don't wike me anymowe. awe you stiww my fwiend, Isaac-kun? 🥺"
I hate the inclusion of Carmilla, and while I can think about how to fix her by making her less of a walking stereotype, her role in the story is to make Dracula and his lackeys look profoundly stupid: Hector for easily going along with her plans (her protests sound plausible at first, but then she talks about unseating Dracula out in the open??? and then Hector, the supposed General, has the balls to be all surprisedpikachu.jpg when he has to betray Dracula????), and Dracula and Isaac for giving in to her whims simply to shut her up, while fully knowing that she doesn't have good intentions. She's not necessary to this portion of the story. Hector in the show already starts out as not liking the slaughter of innocents despite him being okay with culling, and in this version he was outright lied to by Dracula. He should have, by all means, realized by himself that he was deceived, that no one in that joint takes him seriously, and defected out of personal hurt, before learning something about human empathy. Having an underling witness the full extent of Dracula's cruelty and stubborness makes him look better than whatever this is:
Tumblr media
And yes. Witness. Show. I swear this show hates to show things. Dracula only effectively destroys a village on screen in the very first episode. That was cool! Why can't we have cool things here??
I don't care that Carmilla's removal would radically change Hector's plotline in S3 and 4. Considering what happens to him, it's for the best. Because Carmilla is completely irrelevant for anyone else: her plans barely have the chance to step out of her castle before getting squashed, and the Trephacard gang never learns about her. Yeah I know Isaac has his Belmont moment when he kills her, but you know. His desire for revenge should be about Hector anyway :) They are supposed to have a whole story together, not him being the Jesus of the situation while Hector is some rapist's chew toy :) but hey, for that, my friend @chumpovodir already thought on how to fix that mess.
Anyway. Dracula in S2 should have at the very least engaged in more on-screen atrocities. His random flashback where he kills the merchants in an oddly sexual way doesn't count, because that was a way to say "oh look at him, he was so Evil before Lisa healed him with the Power of Love 🥺". No, I mean that in the present. Dracula is a petty, vile man who overreacts to genuine grief by spreading around his misery. He needs to be insane, but proactive.
Oh, and he should have turned into a monster >:\
I apologize if this answer doesn't fully satisfy you lmao. I tend to go into tangents lol, this show activates my braincells like little else

How much, if at all, do you think Alucard still identifies with his cultural background? Do you think he carries any parts of ancient Romanian or even Turkish culture with him into present day? Do you think he still speaks Romanian at all, even if just an expletive here and there when he's really wound up that even he doesn't catch? Does he have any mannerisms or habits tied to his culture that he's carried with him? Sorry to question dump, I'm a nerd for Alucard and you always have the best takes!
Thank you, I'm glad you like my thoughts and ideas! I'm very humbled. I love this question dump! I've been playing with this subject on and off so I had fun focusing on it for a minute!
CULTURE
Generally speaking, Romania is known commonly for two things: Dracula and Nicolae Ceaușescu. Alucard can never truly remove himself from Romanian culture even though he wants to. And boy does he have opinions about how Bram Stoker's story of his defeat and entry into slavery has turned his childhood home into a campy tourist trap. There are Dracula themed attractions, restaurants, and tours of a castle he never lived in. The one remaining home of his that is present at all is in ruins, at the top of a precariously placed set of stairs that were put there for tourists.
He doesn't like talking about this, but it feels like mockery from the land that simultaneously heralds him as a national hero. The extra irony is that some folks still practice traditional method of ensuring the dead don't come back as vampires.
As far as he's concerned, when van Helsing destroyed his only connections to the land, he no longer had a tie to it and he's never changed his mind. But sometimes he misses the mountains, and a sky that isn't polluted by light, full of more stars than any living human's naked eyes have ever seen. LANGUAGE
He doesn't really have anyone to speak to in Romanian. When he last lived in Romania, the country was going through a Re-Latinization, in an attempt to restore what they considered a more pure language. Some words from other romance languages replaced Turkish or Slavic words that he'd used his entire life. He would have to learn some new words and phrases if he ever found a need to speak to a modern Romanian, and his accent and vernacular would be very distinct. It might surprise Romanians these days. And no, he doesn't lapse into Romanian. His accent is gone and he thinks in English at this point (unless he's deliberately speaking to someone in one of the languages he knows).
MANNERISMS
When visiting someone's home, he always brings flowers, chocolate, or imported liquor. Or any combination thereof, depending on how much he cares about what they think of him. When he gives flowers, it's an odd number. Romanians only give an even number of flowers for a funeral. Something I find interesting is how Romanians traditionally address each other as Title Surname, or Title First Name if they're friends. They will not use first names unless they're invited to. "Police Girl" is kind of like a mockery of this tradition. That habit is there, combined with his aloof disregard of her name. The habit isn't consistent anymore, but I like to look at it like an unconscious thing that's still in his brain somewhere. Like most Romanians throughout his time, he appreciates his privacy and likes to be in control of the level of association and intimacy on any level. However he does not afford this level of consideration to others, as we consistently see in canon. This isn't because he's Romanian, it's because he's an arrogant bastard.
He's also typically dressed to impress. Nevermind when he feels like wearing a gimp suit.
His manner of speaking is factual and direct, and by his standard is easy to understand.
In company, he never takes his suit coat off unless the most senior person present does first. Even in private with another person, he keeps it on unless it's clear among both parties that it's not going to be the only thing coming off. If he's present at a dinner Integra has to attend, he takes quick notice of guests that don't keep their hands visible above the table. Wrists on the table edge is an old custom, not exclusive to Romania, and he still instinctively makes note of it even if he doesn't plan to do or say something about it.

@negligiblesenescence said “No, it’s bad, but I’m. Like. I’m fine. Just give me like, ten minutes.”
Carl was, obviously, not very convinced of the words as he leaned back against the wall of the brick building. The body of some monster was messily strewn through the alleyway but that hadn't been what caused the harm; it seemed some hunters were less happy to work with those of other species. And Carl was sure his father wouldn't be happy with that. It caused a certain threat not only to his mentor, the one person Rick seemed to trust him out and about with, but to himself.
"I ain't gonna leave you here, Alucard," he huffed out, thumb brushing back and and forth over the knife at his belt. "Plus if that bastard comes back again, you ain't gonna be able to do much-- dad wouldn't like it too much if I went an' left ya like this."
