just realized how much Kishimoto actually weaved the concept of Yin and Yang into the plot. so we know Sasuke is Moon/Yin and Naruto is Sun/Yang, right?

but how is Yin/Yang represented in the Narutoverse? with Yin, Hagaromo created the Tailed Beasts, and with Yang, he gave them life. in this case, Yin creates, while Yang works with what's already there. he represents the Uchiha as Yin, and the Senju as Yang--one creates illusions (Tsukuyomi, Susanoo, Amaterasu, etc), while the other uses Wood Style, working with earthly elements that are already there

so, Yin/Yang symbolizes the difference in Sasuke and Naruto's solution to the war/hate problem; Sasuke wants to destroy and rebuild things from the ground up, while Naruto wants to work with the current system, both with the goal for a better future

neither solution is fully wrong nor right, and the true answer is that they're meant to come together to form a whole. this is why having Sasuke and Naruto ultimately come to a compromise is so important

but, this is where Kishimoto fumbles his symbolism. because at the end, there is no compromise. he ends up framing Naruto's solution as the correct one, by making Sasuke "lose" (although, there does seem to be some nuance, because Kishimoto doesn't quite allow Sasuke to fully surrender, keeping him traveling and away from Konoha's bureaucracy and familial expectations)

I know I keep bringing up Raine and Adrian as a cool duo we could've gotten, but you gotta hear me out on this: it would've been a cool thing to see a rebel Raine and Adrian at the same time in the same timeline.

Think about it. It would've been such a cool concept to have two performative magics be used in conjunction with each other/ alongside each other.

Of course, I don't think Adrian would want to get rid of Belos because he's suddenly good or something. No.

I think a reason why he'd turn against Belos is because he'd hate being manipulated and deceived the entire time.

I mean think about it. Adrian is the Covenhead of illusion, where the main focus is about deceptive measures. (Of course he'd want to get back at Belos for that).

Kinda like "no one deceives me, I'm the master of deception here" mindset, so he'd want to see Belos go down for it.

Idk how or when he'd find out, but real fast can you imagine the dynamic of his addition to the rebellion?

Darius wouldn't trust him until he proves it or something. Once that's done, the bickering between him and Adrian will ensue over who has better plans (maybe even style too, who knows)

I imagine Eberwolf will try to get on Adrian’s nerves by biting his tail or his ankles every now and then.

Adrian will then resort to tricking Eberwolf with an illusion clone of himself any chance he can get.

Raine is like the straight person in the group who tries to mitigate the fighting.

Adrian would so try to order them around himself and come up with plans that need a person behind one of his illusions (with no one liking them unless they agree on a compromise for a plan)

And of course, (adding my HC here), Raine and Adrian just hate each other but will try to tolerate each other's presence for the sake of getting rid of Belos.

I'm just saying, can you imagine the potential that this has for them to interact and play off each other?

It'll be like a vibe, similar to a team rocket style, but actually competent.

I like to believe that Tara was once a violin player.

She gets her first one at the age of seven and plays vigilantly every night. She’s not very good, but Sam still claps and cheers her on. It was new and frightening for her little sister, and Sam was determined to make her feel loved and appreciated.

Eventually, their mother breaks the violin in a fit of a rage right around Tara’s twelfth birthday.

Tara doesn’t have any money. She cannot get a new one for the school orchestra. Her dreams of being a musician are crushed.

Though the sisters aren’t exactly on speaking terms, Tara finds a new violin at her bedroom door the following day. It’s propped against the door, with a blue bow delicately placed on the lower bout.

She doesn’t thank Sam in person but instead tries to learn Sam’s favorite songs, just so Sam can hear them through the walls.

Once Sam leaves, the violin is never touched again. It collects dust under her bed, the blue bow placed back onto the lower bout.

I made a PL roleswap au with my oc, Robin Banks, and I will talk about it <3

So I thought it'd be pretty cool that if Robin was the professor and Abby (belongs to @inkskull360!) being her assistant. They'd go on their own adventures, canonical to the Layton games. But roleswap Robin, or in this case, Professor Banks, is quite of a bimbo who likes to shop and gets distracted very easily, and Abby kinda has to get help get her head in the game in solving the mystery that's in front of them.

The duo would later meet Clive, who would be in place of Flora in the events of CV. He acts like a guardian of the two and he enjoys accompanying them. (I don't wanna give him the treatment Flora got in the games where she's left out lol, I feel like Clive doesn't deserve it 😭) But where's Layton and Luke in all of this? I swapped Layton out with Robin so now he's a disgruntled guy with a passion for archeology, and he doesn't like the job he's working at (what the job is, ermmm I don't know yet 👀💦)

But yea, if you probably haven't guessed by now, Layton's EVOOOLLL>:^) He has a growing hatred for Professor Banks to come as far as to become her self-proclaimed rival. However the rivalry is pretty one-sided to say the least, Robin is pretty much of a bimbo to not really be aware that there is an ongoing rivalry between them lol. She does find him pretty fancy and distinguished tho!!

As for Luke, well...I was thinking that he'd be an orphaned child but I'm not really sure yet.

I returned to Mio in 2017 and began testing the waters. The space plants have gone through the wringer and I am still working on them. Gonna shove some worldbuilding below the cut.

So far the concept is that the people have plant like growths on their heads which produce energy via photosynthesis. This suppliments their limited diet due to living atop a mountain. The air is thin and vegetation sparse so they have a hard time gaining all of their nutrition from external sources. When the clouds are thin or the sun is out many stop consuming meals to save them for the inevitable weeks of cloud cover that will roll in.

Another idea was to have them be able to digest rocks for sustenance, but I'm not quite content with that. I prefer to keep the rocks as a resource for producing thread, paper, houses, and a few technological devices.

Currently the plant growths are only limited by placement, but I will probably circle back and reconsider this. There are a few different tribes of the space plant people so having different plant styles for each may be helpful in differenciating them.

Deimos and Phobos! The bane of Nimbasa City.

Quick fun facts:

The twins are proficient in tinkering and machine crafting. They can dissemble a subway engine in ten minutes

Deimos is viewed more as the ‘troubled twin’ since he smiles like Emmet but really Phobos is more likely to steel your car rims. That doesn’t mean neither are completely innocent

Where Gris and Ingo sometimes share the one braincell, Deimos and Phobos have plenty. They’re evil geniuses if evil was sugar free. Yes they will run Team Plasma into the ground. Yes they also would take over as new management if they felt bored enough.

Prodigies when it comes to team crafting. They run through the battle subway constantly, they do it for fun to visit their uncle and dad.

Guzma FUCKING adores them. Never had a grandad been so proud, they’d be prized team skull members if it was still running.

Gris tries to get them to have regular ‘fun’. Light graffiti and some loitering, but no they’d rather sneak into air ducts and crash Elesa’s photoshoots.

If they had a theme song, it’d be the collector’s theme, either that or something like this

• Juvia has little journals dedicated to all of her children. She starts them the moment she discovers she’s pregnant. She writes down all the little details. Going over their first word, step, birthday, and accomplishments. • Gray makes his kids little ice sculptures and teaches them how to make them as well. They spend hours trying to make it perfect and look at references. They argue over what to sculpt. • Lucy loves indulging and playing with her children. She wears whatever her children set out for her when attending tea parties and makes all the pastries they want. She’ll spend hours drawing and coloring with them. Will absolutely play any game, even tag or hide and seek. • Natsu loves embarrassing his kids in public, he’ll put on silly clothes and give himself an accent just to mess with them. But he’s also willing to do everything to make them smile, even if it means getting made fun of by Gajeel for putting on a play with stuffed animals and toys. • Erza goes overboard for holidays and birthdays. The house is decorated head to toe, everyone’s dressed accordingly and shes making sure everything is perfect. Her kids are getting everything they asked for and everything they were caught staring at in the mall. • Jellal supports and celebrates everything his children do. He’s at every recital, talent show, show, and game. He buys all the equipment, instruments, tools, and supplies his kids need to pursue their dreams and hobbies. He’s overjoyed with everything they accomplish and do. He never misses a moment.

she doesn’t really see the point in doing that; all her feelings have done before is hurt her. like the time where she woke up with fake memories of her and jason, a whole life curated to perfection, just to find out it was made up.

nothing was real, their relationship wasn’t real, even if they made it real later on.

or the time when jason died. he broke up with her to protect her, but piper didn’t know that. she was too caught up in her own feelings to know. the heartbreak took over everything and she didn’t think there was anything worse until his body was in pipers arm, washed up near her father’s beach.

piper mclean doesn’t want to wear her heart on her sleeve anymore.

it’s done nothing but hurt her, why not go back to being guarded now? it doesn’t dull her pain, but it protects her from experiencing more pain. the heartbreak, the tears, the uncertainty, the insecurity. no more of that, just plain old piper mclean who everyone loves.

piper mclean doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve anymore, it’s too bruised to be in the open now.

as much as piper despises drew and her mean barbie way of life, over time she can see who her sister really is. that drew’s heart is as bruised and broken as her own if not worse.

drew tanaka used to wear her heart on her sleeve, even if it was a lifetime ago, piper can see that.

she recognises the bruises of a broken heart much like her own.

piper mclean has seen a lot in the past few years to wear her heart on her sleeve.

drew’s seen more. despite their differences at first (piper cringes at her not like other girls phase, why did that exist), drew tanaka is piper’s sister.

piper would cry if something happened to drew, probably violently stab someone if they hurt her. but drew tanaka doesn’t need piper, that girl can draw blood from her nails if she wanted to.

but yet piper recognises the look of helplessness on drew’s face. it’s not a common occurrence per se, but it’s there nonetheless.

when their cabin excludes drew, when they send her a bitter look even if she’s just existing, or when they whisper things that piper doesn’t know about, but drew does.

piper mclean doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve anymore.

but drew tanaka used to.

at least piper thinks she used to.

piper knows drew couldn’t have been all sunshine and rainbows, that just seems abnormal for her, but if you asked piper ten months ago that she’d be on a quest to find out what happened with her cabin before so she can help drew (the others too, but piper worries about drew more), she would laugh at your face, so piper doesn’t erase sunshine drew.

its a terrifying possibility, but one nonetheless.

piper mclean doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve, but she now has the confirmation drew used to.

the campers don’t speak much, and every time piper tries bringing it up, they cover their ears—to avoid charmspeak she presumed—and scurry away.

piper needs answers.

she doesn’t expect drew to give them to her directly, but its a stormy night, the clocks just strikes midnight and the date changes to august 18th.

the air shifts, piper sees drew slipping away during the campfire games.

piper knows she shouldn’t follow, but she does. its drew, piper tells herself she’s worried drew may stab someone with her nails, but she’s worried for drew. the five-ish years she’s been at camp now, piper has seen drew sneak away every august 18th.

this time she follows.

piper doesn’t expect to be climbing the rooftop for cabin ten—she didn’t think drew would climb even if she wanted to—or hearing drew cry. piper says nothing, choosing to slowly approach drew instead. she sits down next to her older sister.

drew says nothing, glares at her amidst tears and tries pushing her off the rooftop, but it’s a week shove. piper realises drew’s exhausted.

piper doesn’t demand for answers—it surprises her too—instead tugs drew closer and hugs her and drew begins sobbing even more, clutching piper like a lifeline.

both of them are painfully aware this is the longest interaction they’ve had in the five years they’ve known each other.

drew falls asleep on piper that night, and piper doesn’t move an inch.

all she does is pray to her mother for answers, some resemblance of clarity. piper wants drew to stop hurting, and she asks her mother how. aphrodite smiles as the rift in cabin ten begins mending, starting with her two eldest kids.

piper mclean and drew tanaka wore their hearts on their sleeves once. they are similar in ways no one would expect.

neither brings up the night for another month.

but piper sees drew relaxing when piper walks in, she sees drew subconsciously leaning towards her as a symbol of trust. piper begins dragging drew in cabin activities—she should have done that five years ago, but piper was so goddamn stubborn and stupid.

both of them know it’s not out of pity; they are kids of aphrodite after all, they understand emotions (somehow cant pick up on the sisterly love they have for each other though).

its a start, a small bandaid on wounds that are years old, but it’s a start.

piper mclean and drew tanaka are healing the wounds of wearing their hearts on their sleeves

the next change takes place on the 18th of september.

piper and drew get into an argument, a screaming match.

looking back at it, piper doesn’t even remember what it was for, but at that time it seems like a life and death choice, but there’s yelling, screaming, crying, insults, a lot.

but drew suddenly yells at her, calls her the wrong name.

“god, youre so stupid silena!“

the room goes silent, everyone stares at the two, and drew slaps her hand over her mouth. piper notices drew’s sudden shaking and the shift in the room, but before she can say anything drew runs out.

the rest of cabin ten flocks to piper, checking up on her, but she refuses to move fuelled by anger that not one of their siblings checked up on drew. she pushes them aside and runs to where she saw drew run off to, and its the same place.

cabin ten, rooftop.

nyssa from cabin nine is there with drew this time, gently consoling her.

piper turns to leave but nyssa tugs her back, leaving instead, piper turns to see drew staring at the piper with red eyes, but there’s no malice in them, and piper goes over and hugs drew. they sit quietly, neither demanding an explanation from the other.

its silent until drew breaks, crying out in a mess of tears. piper gets all the answers she wanted too.

piper has seen her in photos, but every-time she asks, they change the topic and now piper knows why.

drew cries her heart out to piper.

My friend: This may be one of my favorite written visuals and euphemisms ever I feel a pang in my chest, like the pluck of a piano wire strung between my ribs. A euphoric laugh bubbles out of me and my tears dampen my eyes.

Me: Mom giggled last night when I told her I think my favorite line from the book is, "I long for exclamation marks... But I am drowning in ellipses..."

My friend: Genuinely a very beautiful line And harrowing as well

That got me thinking...

Sometimes a book you read in high school makes a reappearance when you're a young adult struggling with mental health issues and that same book helps you appreciate how beautiful everything in the world is, even if it is messy.

And sometimes that book has a single line that speaks louder to you than possibly anything has before

Because you are drifting, surviving, simple existing and getting by but you want your world to be more than this. You want life to mean something more.

And sometimes "you" is actually "me"

so many people go crazy over fleabag & the priests "i love you" "it'll pass" (its me, im people) and UNDERSTANDABLY SO. but, when fleabag & boo are sitting after her mothers funeral and she says "i don't know what to do with it. with all the love i have for her...i don't know where to put it now." and boo replies, "i'll take it. no, i'm serious. it sounds lovely. i'll have it." like originally i thought it was about sex/relationships but. the GRIEF OVER HER MOTHER. it. i've neger felt so. so connected. like. my grandmother. where do i put all this love i have for her? where do i let go? how can i stop it from festering? i don't know. i feel like so many things (claire & fleabag/dad & fleabag/boo & fleabag) are overlooked bc of the priest. like. FLEABAG FOR REAL CAPTURED GRIEF SO FUCKING PERFECTLY. i don't know this probably made no sense but im heartbroken <33
