Saw my darling @swiftviolets doing this so I had to hop aboard the bandwagon with our Darlingtons. Alas, they barely fit so Violette will have to wait for next gen’s height chart 😉
(Anybody surprise you? 👀)

🌞 Darlington Astrology Chart 🌞
As I was falling asleep last night I realized that we now have 12 “main” characters in the Darlington Legacy. I’ve also spoken a little about how baby girl Zelda is definitely a Pisces (same girl, same) which got me thinking about all of our other characters. So without further ado have an astrological sign for each character thus far:
♒️ Aquarius: Rosella Darlington
♓️ Pisces: Zelda Darlington
♈️ Aries: Adelia Darlington
♉️ Taurus: Isaiah Darlington
♊️ Gemini: Josephine Duplanchier
♋️ Cancer: Oliver Darlington
♌️ Leo: Violette Darlington-Duplanchier*
♍️ Virgo: Florence Darlington
♎️ Libra: Summer Darlington
♏️ Scorpio: Antoine Duplanchier
♐️ Sagittarius: Lady Georgiana Harrington
♑️ Capricorn: Virginia Darlington
*This one is actually interesting, because it is what I would assign to her no matter what but we also know her birthday is in August, so it realistically fits too. This gives you the first insight into our newest, littlest Darlington 🌚

Ruby Tuesday
"And there's no time to lose", I heard her say Go catch your dreams before they slip away And dying all the time Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind Ain't life unkind?
And goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still, I'm gonna miss you

Sweet Virginia
Wadin' through the waste stormy winter And there's not a friend to help you through Tryin' to stop the waves behind your eyeballs Drop your reds, drop your greens and blues
I want you to come on, come on down Sweet Virginia I want you come on, honey child, I beg you I want you come on, honey child you got it in you Got to scrape that shit right off your shoes

Wild Horses
I watched you suffer A dull aching pain Now you've decided To show me the same
No sweeping exit Or offstage lines Could make me feel bitter Or treat you unkind
Wild horses Couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses Couldn't drag me away

Now that Zelda has grown into a young adult, I wanted to play a little game of genetic roulette! So I’ve got the Darlingtons for you, Brady Bunch style, so we can look at the genetics of each of the children and see who they got their looks from who. Isaiah is seen here as a young adult (he’s currently 16 in game) but his facial structure doesn’t change too much anyway.
So who’s the winner of this round of Darlington genetics? Who got the best features and who just totally doesn’t look like mom and dad? Let me know in the comments cause I absolutely love seeing sims genetics (when they aren’t just totally broken 😅).

❄️ and ⚡️ for the weather game, please!
Oh hello! Thank you for these my dear 😊
❄️ Snow - Who is your coldest / most stoic character and how do they express themselves (if at all)?
Gotta give this one to both Virginia and Adelia. They look so incredibly alike, which I first found quite ironic as they seemed like juxtaposed characters (where Rosella was meant to be Adelia’s “heir”). However, the more I thought about it the more I realized that Virginia has Adelia’s ability to internalize and act in a very calculated, and some would say, cold manner.
Adelia faced immense tragedies which caused her to become laser focused on self-preservation and giving her only surviving child a good life. She purposefully hardened herself not only to the world, but to any internal weaknesses that could stand in the way of this. Her self expression came in the form of love only for her immediate family, as she viewed them as the only people she truly had in this life.
Virginia, on the other hand, is actually an immensely emphatic character. Her coldness is primarily due to all of pain she sees in the world, all of which she has observed and taken onto her own shoulders. She does not allow herself much warmth or expression, as it feels terrifyingly like losing control and letting emotion (that she associates with pain) take over. Just like Adelia, she internalizes this; however, she has transformed it into a mission to do good in the world. It’s in those acts of service that her warmth comes alive; but to others (even her close family), she often presents as someone who does not have time for petty issues or silly emotional trifles.
⚡️Lightning - Have you ever spontaneously added something to your story that you wouldn't have added normally? If so, what made you do it?
I answered this one here and have also ranted enough on your dash with question no. 1 so I’m going to resist giving you another 😜
I’ve still got a few more to answer tonight but if you’ve got more weather asks feel free to send! 😚

Hiiii! Cottagecore style for virginia :) thanks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one was tricky at first because I associate cottagecore with more frilly, pastel dresses and flouncy shirts. None of which I would see Virginia in. But then I remember that Virginia did literally grow up in a cottage, and she would still live in Henford even in the modern day.
So Virginia’s cottagecore is a more casual, errand-running style. It’s cottagecore with a serious dose of fall, or Dark Academia if that’s your jam 😉

Oh my god....how did I not know that I needed this Virginia in my life until you sent this? Seriously the second I read it I saw her campaigning for women's rights on the streets of New York.
With all due respect to suffragette/WWI Virginia…I think this is my new favorite Virginia 👀

Bonus gameplay shots of the Darlingtons' summer day in the Bramblewood because they were being so photogenic I just couldn't resist.
Posing all six of them in the middle of the world was definitely one of the more challenging story posts I've done thus far. Then they went out, enjoyed themselves, and gave me better shots than I even took in the first place! Anyway, enjoy these little pixels just living life and may your summer be as vibey as theirs.

🔥 for Zelda and Virginia please!
🔥 : What’s a surefire way to make your OC get flustered?
Zelda:
Zelda strikes me as a person who likes physical touch, as in small gestures like her hand being brushed or an arm around her waist. I think they convey a sense of closeness but also a certain longing and intimacy idealized to her by romance novels and love stories.
Virginia:
Virginia is asexual (although not aromatic) and I have talked about her finding this feeling of “flustered” to be a foreign concept here and here. This is because it is something she doesn’t feel, and an emotion she has struggled with.
However, romantically (if she had different life experiences that hadn’t caused her to shut out this part of herself), I think that she would be attracted to having a partner who was as dedicated and selfless as she is. She would find a person attractive who has a clear goal on how to better the world, most likely someone who worked in social services or politics like herself, and be happy to share her life and form a partnership with them.

🍕 for the whole family pre-deaths. I'm curious how their family pizza night would have gone
🍕: Favorite Pizza Topping
Oh my goodness this is the most wholesome and adorable ask though 🥹
So for this one I’ll have to answer for the modern Darlingtons! In game, I play with a number of restrictive rules to make the game more realistic. Specifically, I don't sell from inventory, crops can only be harvested once a season, and I don't use money cheats. So the Darlingtons have always struggled a bit with money; they usually only have enough for weekly bills and have actually earned/bought every cottage upgrade they have.
Although their modern versions have different careers, I imagine that they are still in a bit of a tight spot monetarily, especially with four teenage/young adult children. So I see their pizza night being one of those family friendly bundles, with a couple of large pizzas, sides, and a desert. I definitely see them as a veggie pizza sort of fam, as Florence & Oliver are big farm to table people, and I think that the modern, teenage Virginia would be experimenting with vegetarianism.
I really don't think Isaiah would even notice what's on the pizza; as I said in the last ask, I just see him eating a ton of whatever is comforting and in front of him. Same for Zelda, she doesn't strike me as very picky for food and would easily acquiesce to whatever everyone else wanted. Rosella, on the other hand, would probably be complaining that they got the family bundle again and that she wanted to go out to the new artisan restaurant downtown 😂

🧣 for Zelda and Isaiah, please! I'm looking forward to the 1920s
Oh hello there! Thank you so much for asking ☺️
🧣Scarf: tell us about a secret your OC has and what would happen if they revealed it.
Isaiah 🧑🏼‍🦱
I really don’t think that Isaiah is the type to keep secrets. He’s meant to be quite childish and good, and I think that the idea of lying makes him feel terribly, terribly guilty.
That being said, he is now very aware that he’s in love with Summer, but has no idea on how to act on it. He’s afraid even to admit it to Florence, who’s his closest friend in the world. Part of it is just that he’s a teenage boy, afraid of being rejected; but I think that a bigger part is that he’s such good friends with Summer that he doesn’t think their relationship is meant to be that way.
Of course this is just his own misunderstanding of love (mostly drawn from his time period) and as I heavily hinted at, Summer is in love with him too. Don’t worry, we’ll find out what happens when he reveals it 😉
Zelda 👩🏻‍🦰
Hmmm. Well part of me has always thought that Zelda figured out Rosella’s sexuality and her secret with Lady Harrington. Zelda is meant to be very perceptive and I kind of hinted that she knew something was amiss whenever Rosella left with George.
I think that Zelda will question this all her life, because she’ll never actually get answers and she’s too afraid to ask her parents about it, out of fear that they don’t know the truth. Of course, we know that both Oliver and Florence know about Rosella’s sexuality and have found peace with it and their own involvement in her death.
So if Zelda were to tell them, the biggest consequence would be that Florence and Zelda could connect more and Zelda could finally have a sense of closure about her sister. I don’t think that Isaiah would care in the slightest, preoccupied as he is with love. However, I think that Virginia would take badly to the secret. No so much because of Rosella’s sexuality, more to find out that her sister had run away on such an illogical pipe dream.
But this is something that is meant to underly Zelda’s character as she will forever have this secret that she can’t even be sure is really a secret at all 😔

hello alexis! for virginia:
📚: Books they like to read
👠: Shoes they like
👕: Clothing style
Oh yay! My girl Virginia! I miss her already, honestly.
📚 Books they like to read:
Virginia has always had a deep love of philosophy books, whatever type and from whatever era that she can get her hands on. She’s deeply and constantly bothered by the problems of evil and inequality of the world, and yet a bit untethered on how exactly to address these things. These books provide her with a framework on how to formulate her own approach to life.
I also think she likes a good, dark social commentary like Heart of Darkness (1902) or The Jungle (1906). Other than that, I think she would feel like reading fiction or fantasy books are a waste of time, one that distracts you from the real problems of the world rather than figuring out how to make it a better place. Zelda she’s looking at you 👀
👠 Shoes they Like:
Frankly, I’m not sure that Virginia really cares what shoes she’s wearing. Growing up, she definitely preferred comfortable boots to heels but now that she’s in a professional space, she wears simple heels. No matter what her personal comfort level or preference may be, she’s willing to adhere to stylish trends and norms insofar as they make her presentable, and able to be taken seriously.
👔 Clothing Style:
Virginia’s style has always been somewhat austere, sometimes bordering on militaristic. Her color palette (dark red, khaki, navy, and olive) reflect this and show how serious Virginia can be. There is not a lot of room for folly or decadence in her life or fashion.
I do think that Virginia very purposefully leans into masculine fashion. It makes her feel powerful and gives her the confidence to move amongst a world of wealthy men and patriarchal ideas. As she gets older and more successful, she becomes more comfortable in this style, something that I think would really bloom in the 1920s.

🍀 for Virginia pls !
🍀 - are they superstitious? if yes, describe how.
Oh man, I totally see Virginia as the type of person who’s anti-superstitious (not even a little stitious).
You know that kid in college who reads philosophy for the first time and is now on a constant rant about how they understand the world better than anyone else? (certainly was never me 👀) That’s 100% how I see Virginia right now.
I think she has sort of black and white view of the world: good vs evil, rich vs poor, superstition vs reason, and she’s definitely chosen which side she wants to be on.
Especially when you consider the prevalence of religion in Edwardian England (which I don’t really get into a ton in my story but it’s definitely still there), I can totally see her arguing with people about ghosts, religious beliefs, luck, fate, etc. Girl is definitely not afraid to say what she thinks to whoever she wants.
I kind of hinted at this when she gets fixated on that young orphan she saw when she was five. She looks for him for years thinking that it’s some sort of fated friendship or romance before she finally gives up. I would think that she views all of this stuff as sort of “childish” now and that it prohibits you from taking action and doing real good in the world. But I also think part of her is just disappointed by the pain and struggle she sees, and so she rather not gamble with superstition or beliefs, preferring to take things into her own hands instead.
