Upcoming Writing

1. Honestly, I'm just excited to get them talking again. I have one chapter left before they're back in touch and I can already feel the story starting to drag because they're not speaking, much as I loved writing their argument. Also the chaos chapter, which is where I throw caution to the wind in the most extreme way I can think of.

2. Supermarket. Bed-sharing. Christmas present.

3. I'm very excited to finish writing the twist ending to chapter four and the twist opening of chapter five. Two twists!

4. Following a period of antagonism there is an antagonism-shattering heart-to-heart on the chilly starlight beach that I've been going over in my head for a very long time.

5. If, if, IF I were to write this fic, and it's a HUGE if because I have too many WIPs, I think I'd be most excited about combining two of my huge passions in general and perhaps making wrestling more palatable for people who know nothing about it.

I'm pretty sure that most of the writers I know have already completed this so if there are any CT girlies who haven't yet been tagged and want to do this, PLEASE consider this your tag!

ooh, are you guys writing? (only if you're in the mood for it, no pressure) it would be amazing to see a little something from covet! or slightly silly but a crossover between WATJP and one of bee's fics (or really any of both of yours!) hope you two have an amazing, giggly time together ;)

We are not actually writing anything right now, just talking about prompts, but this was verrrry nice so here is a Covet snippet (we also talked about Covet. Did you know it’s been NEARLY TWO YEARS since we updated it omg guys that’s a reaaaaaal  isssue ahhhhh also we’re both a wee bit drunk lol): @ghost-of-bambi

It's almost bizarrely normal to spend evenings with her again, rewatching the episodes of Parks and Rec they'd both dozed through and snacking on leftover egg rolls. On Saturday, James does have a match to coach, and he drops off Lily for a shift she'd picked up at the restaurant before he heads to Hackney, where he informs the lads that despite the grievous injustice done to him on the Fortnite playfield, he may have finally secured them a proper mascot costume on the pitch. The announcement is met with whoops and hollers of approval...though James is still not given back his first-string Fortnite slot, even after he coaches the ungrateful sods to a thrashing victory over Islington.

He texts his outrage to Lily on his way home, and she responds with: James, please stop talking to me about fucking Fortnite.

It's all so delightfully normal, he doesn't even mind that she's missing the gravity of the principle of the thing.

(He still sends her a novel-length text expressing the travesty of her missing the gravity of the principle of the thing, because she must see, but all she does is send back I'd have sacked you too, and James has to stop because now she's just being cruel for the fun of it.)

Sirius decided, early Sunday morning, that not only was he coming to the baking party at Beatrice's house after all, but he would deign to assist with preparations while he was there. It was an about-face that Euphemia deemed admirably apologetic, but it didn't make a lick of sense to James until they arrived—tragically late because of Sirius—at the house on Newlands Road, where his brother made a beeline for Lily the second Beatrice's mother showed them through the door.

"Hello!" he barked in her face. "Why is your dad a bad person?"

The poor girl was trying to crush a baggie of digestive biscuits with a rolling pin when she found herself assailed by this invasive question, and looked up at Sirius in alarm. Remarkably, she didn't hit him with her handy kitchen implement. "I'm sorry, what?"

Sirius gestured between them with one hand. "We're bonding."

"We are?"

"Yeah, I came to help. Even brought an apron. Here." He reached into the LRB canvas bag he'd hung over one arm and unfurled the apron like a magician. "It's got a fun slogan on it. Look. Kiss the cook."

"I won't, if you don't mind."

"It's purely rhetorical. What are you making?"

What if he asked her out?

What if he said it? What if he just. Said it. What if he told her he liked her a lot and thought she was beautiful and wanted to kiss her and hold her hand? What if he said, "Will you go out with me?" What if he uttered those six words right now? He could force six words out of his mouth. His dad always said that a person could get used to anything except dying, which meant that James could handle whatever came next. He could deal with the rejection. She would turn him down in disgust and express her belief that he'd merely pretended to be her friend to get into her pants, effectively bringing these golden past few weeks to an abrupt halt, but he could plunge back into the depths of her icy indifference and learn to swim again.

Will you be updating WATJP frequently from now on? Your portrayal of their dynamic in that fic is one of my favs of all time, and this be chapter was SO SO SO amazing. Thank you for everything you do ur fics give me life 💕💕

Look. I would LOVE to say "absolutely, yes" and give you an update a week until the fic is done, but if I didn't deliver (which I probably wouldn't) I would have lied to you and I would hate to do that. I am really going to try. The number of unfinished WIPs I have is really irritating me at this point, especially WATJP because as I always say, it is genuinely my favourite of my fics. So I've already started chapter 8, am currently 2000 words in, and THAT is positive. I really really appreciate everyone who has continued to stick with me and my WIPs even though I am an infrequent updater, it is more than I feel like I deserve on days when I doubt myself and my writing ability (today has been one of those doubty days for some reason) and I am so very grateful for the support <3

He had to hide his laugh behind a hacking cough to prevent his mother from overhearing and doing that thing she did where she used her powers to guess exactly who he was reacting to and started to push for details, and typed his reply so hastily that it was a wonder he didn't send it off with a dozen typos enclosed.

Her response was almost equally instantaneous: I'll try whatever I'll try until I start to get results.

i've been rereading watjp (as one does) and i genuinely cannot get over how FUNNY it is. i have laughed aloud reading it so many times, and that's not something that ever happens to me while reading. he's so melodramatic and so convinced that the world will end any time he maybe slightly makes a misstep with lily, and it's just. it's SO hilarious and real. i remember being 16 and over-analyzing every tiny interaction with my crush and wanting to lock myself in my room any time i thought i was being Perceived Wrong. you're just so frickin talented and so so so witty and it's just my favorite jily fic of all time actually i love it so much!!!

Thank you so much!!!! I was just thinking that I needed to get cracking on finishing the next chapter when I saw this and it feels like a sign that the creative juices may be flowing this evening once I'm done with work!

I remember like probably 5 or 6 months ago you were teasing an update for WATJP and I got soooo excited I went back and reread it TWICE in a week (as though I’d have forgotten what happened by the time I got to the end the first time?? idk) but then anyway the update just….never came and then you started working on the film thing w your brother so (and ik this is a ridiculous run on sentence) I’m just curious if there’s anything brewing on that front still or if the WATJP writing inspiration has waned

WATJP is still my favourite child, I have a scene from the next chapter to go, I'm just working on CYOA right now because it's easier to update fast, my WATJP chapters are loooonnnnng and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to them, I have a 100% record of posting chapters that I am fully happy with with that fic and I don't want that to change because I half-assed anything. Next time I say I'm going to update it I promise it will be when the chapter is fully finished!
