I just need to yell about some stuff from the latest translated The Remains chap ‘cause MY HEART.

What I would give to know what’s going through William’s mind here as he looks at that family. Does he have any memories of his own parents? I NEED TO KNOW.

I have read this part now 3 times — once in Teawaffles’ English translation of the light novel, once in the original Japanese The Remains chapter, and now once again in the English scanlation, and each and every time it cracks me up that William really went ‘I’m so sorry but no, I can’t change my face, I’m just this handsome.’ 😅☺️ (I know he’s not really being big headed here but the way it reads just cracks me up okay).

It really hit home to me here how absolutely astounded William is that Helena would see him in a positive light — he believes he should be grouped with the ‘bad or shady people’, but she calls him ‘warm’ and immediately trusts him.

The way he’s speechless for a moment just makes my heart hurt. He’s written himself off as a devil at this point, and he doesn’t know how to view himself as anything else 🥺

I also love though that we get confirmation that the side of William that’s ruthless and dangerous and little unhinged is really part of who he is, rather than something learned or that he’s been forced to do to survive. I think taking that away from him would cheapen or try to excuse his character too much.

This moment really has such an impact, now. Once again, just saying, I love him.
