Have we read the same book?
Want to know what I've been up to lately? Well, here it is!! This is my entry for the digital Dragon Age Fanzine "Love Across Thedas" @loveacrossthedaszine which you can get HERE (for free! yaaaay! - and with so many awesome contributions!! Check it out definitely!)
This was one of the biggest pieces I finished this year and it was a drag but also so much fun to create. And, honestly, who agrees with me that this is my best Varric I ever drew? I love these games so much!
Happy Holidays, dear people! ☃️

Here's a little holiday spirit for everyone. You can now go grab the Love Across Thedas zine on itch.io for free, and find this artwork and much, much more inside, including plenty of fanfiction and digital merch.
@loveacrossthedaszine Extra thanks and much love to everyone who worked on the zine, but especially the mods.
(For anyone interested in what I was thinking when I was drawing this tune in below)
I wanted to do nanders because I pretty exclusively just do art about my player characters and their beaus otherwise. But nanders is one of those ships that I have been carrying my torch for since day one, or day 6 months in more like, with the pace I do my playthroughs in. Regardless, they were my favourite part about Awakening, and the greatest tragedy in Dragon Age is that they still haven't reunited for longer than 5 minutes in some dank darkspawn tunnel! So I set out to fix that.
I wanted to create a scene where the Amaranthine Wardens, my Mahariel and Zevran included, would go meet Anders in the middle after what happened to the Kirkwall Chantry, to keep him safe, and the team could finally get that more permanent reunion.
Due to my own headcanons the Amaranthine crew is also having a bit of an exodus, since they're in the middle of planning to go rogue from the rest of the Wardens. Oops :). All in all they're a bunch of outcasts right now, but they have each other.
And of course Nathaniel brought Pounce with them too.

The Equation of Them
The @loveacrossthedaszine has been posted, and so I am now posting my entry fic separately for those who wish to read it!
It shouldn’t have happened. Dorian should have been more careful. Bull should have protected the Inquisitor. Now she’s injured, and they’re left with a problem to solve – why Bull chose to save Dorian over her.

"The Most Impossible Task," my fic for the Love Across Thedas zine, is now on AO3! "Dorian Pavus wants to marry his beloved, former Inquisitor Leanos Lavellan. But he wants to propose the Dalish way, and the only person who might be able to help him is the former Inquisitor's twin sister...who doesn't like him one bit. Can Dorian convince her to help?"

that's one of the reasons I love Nevarrans. dead person who doesn't realize they're dead leaves the necropolis and clocks in for work the next day. no one bats an eye. no one indicates to them that they are dead. it's treated like they've encountered a sleepwalker or mema escaped the retirement home. they just call the Mortalitasi and usher the lil mummy back to their crypt.

"Break the world if anything happens to my friends/family/lover loyal" Ok so now I have to know... how would Seb and Marian react if they thought the other was in mortal danger?
oooohhhh man i have thought about this so much you have no idea
Okay, so: Marian. If Sebastian's hurt/in danger, she goes on the warpath until he's safe again. Absolute single-mindedness dedicated only to whatever is going to help her get her prince back. Her already short temper gets even shorter and she will not tolerate ANYONE getting in her way. Even if they're so-called "friends" just looking out for her mental state.
If Sebastian's dead? Oh man. That usual fiery rage that everyone knows Marian for is just... Gone. In its place is a cold, grieving husk of a woman who's sole motivation is utterly destroying whoever or whatever it was that took the love of her life away from her. When she gets her revenge, she's aimless. Maybe she could bounce back, but it would take months, if not years. In a slightly optimistic if not bittersweet ending, she'd probably join the chantry as a full sister and spend the rest of her life upholding the ideals her beloved held so close.
Sebastian, on the other hand... I think he would be less... violent, but no less willing to go off the deep end. There is a part of him that thinks it's wrong, that the Maker would not approve, but he is not going to lose her, too. Better to pray for forgiveness than for permission, etcetera.
There's only so much he can do on his own, though, so instead of a killing spree, he gather information. Allies. Even those of the unsavory sort. Hell, he'll even turn to forbidden magic if he has to. It doesn't matter if he damns his soul getting her back, as long as she's back with him.
But if Marian dies? His heart just closes off. There's been too much grief, too much loss. He goes back to Starkhaven and brings the full might of its army down to bear on whichever poor souls were responsible for her death. He's still a good king, but no one would ever call him a good man. And he would never remarry - even a political union is out of the question, because he will never betray Marian, even if she's no longer with him. The Vael line would die with him.
So yeah. Sure is a good thing nothing bad will ever happen to these two, ever.

I was lookin at your reblog of the fantasy map, and you are right about Narnia. Canonically, there is open sea with a few small islands to the east of Narnia. If you read the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, you can get a good sense of the geography of the eastern ocean in Narnia. Which means, either the Game of Thrones island cannot exist there, or the corrupt governor that the Narnians depose in the Lone Islands is part of the world of Game of Thrones. And hence, that the Lone Islands are much bigger than the Narnians are aware of. And also, possibly, subject to the King of Narnia?
Yeah, no kidding. Like, there are little, isolated islands in the sea that Westeros has discovered like Lonely Light, Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys, but that’s it. To make this work from either side, the distance between the two continents would have to be much greater than anyone could have anticipated. Also, sailors like Elissa Farman would've had to completely miss Narnia somehow in order to circumnavigate the planet and end up in Asshai.
I don't think it would be so much a stretch to imagine a Westeros that is nominally under the authority of Aslan. Depending on how old the Deep Magic truly is, I could easily see the Children of the Forest and the Westerosi giants living on the fringes of ancient Narnian society as a colony or subject state. But then you have to start thinking about the White Walkers and then everything Essos has going on and it just gets extremely complicated very quickly.

I've finally realized why it's harder for me to get a concept of potential dynamics with Inquisition companions than for Origins. I think it's because you have to factor in whether they know he's undead.
for Origins, they definitely know he's an apostate, and they undoubtedly figure there's something magically wonky going on with him. but he hides that he is undead and has a century or so of practice perfecting that act. it's not impossible they would figure it out after a year of camping together, but it's more likely imo that they would assume there's Something Else going on with him. hedge mage weirdness or possession weirdness or the like, y'know? the point is, although I'm not opposed to plotlines where someone figures it out, the default is that no one does.
in Inquisition, though, he tells the truth to Cassandra and Leliana early on. with everything that's happening, he doesn't anticipate he'd be able to hide it for long. I find it probable the Herald learns of it along with the rest of the inner circle, and that tends to be my default, but that's not really a guarantee is it? this is something to be kept under wraps, so it's knowledge that is certainly limited to the inner circle at most, but perhaps it's up to the Herald whether even they know.
