top 5 arts you've made last year

thank you for asking! I made a lot of art I like and am proud of last year - I’ve been a bit unmotivated recently (to everyone who sent palette prompts: hi!), but I feel like I’ve been able to genuinely develop my drawing skills over the past few years ... And I can still feel that when I’m able to get in the groove. So:

Goewin and Abreha from A Coalition of Lions. The other four pieces are just in an order that looked good, but this is probably my favorite from this year. It felt like I was effectively applying my approaches to screenshot redraws/other direct references to my own composition and character design! Also, I love that scene SO much. Maybe that helped, or maybe my secret was that I drew it on a train ride (while listening to a very funny scene in The Game of Kings for the first time), which brings me to …

Will Scott and Lymond’s nighttime argument in the woods, from The Game of Kings. Speaking of no references, I’m not sure what happened to the trees here, but it works somehow, and I like how their postures/expressions turned out.

Since I can't get into playing an accordion this year, (maybe next year if all goes well) I might dive head first into a hobby I've been wanting to get into for the past couple years but really haven't let myself in any capacty.

If you saw my earlier post this won't be a surprise, but it's film photography.

I can at least test it out for 20$ cause walmart has their own brand of point and shoot film camera, and they sell film now. So I can test this out for pretty cheap, and get film when I want.

#very much so #I have been off and on looking into it for two years now and my fondest childhood memories are times when my parents handed me a disposable #camera for family events. I don't even think a lot of the pics turned out most of the time #but the act of taking those pictures and the fun of it of taking a pic and rolling the flim and all of that? wow. love it. #so..... and thus a new old man hobby is added to the list #jk. most people into film it seems are people my age or a little older #I am. I am really excited but also I can feel they hyper-fixation coming on haha

#how and where i live is slowly driving me insane #at home i can never rest or relax. the situation w my sisters is rlly affecting me and im too sensitive for it #plus... i cant concemtrate bc my sistyers sound like deranged monkeys. they are SO loud #when im in my room and they sit in the living room their digusting voices and laughter and yells make me so fkn angry #even when i have headphones on i can hear them. and it's for long stretches of time and also in the evenings/nights #i just wanna be able to concentrate on things but i cant when i have to fkn listen to them all the time. so noisy #also i hate this city. it's gotten wayyyyyy worse in the past few years. there are sm things wrong w it so i dont need to rant abt all of it #but mainly it's so noisy. construction work everywhere 24/7!!!! theyre building a subway which takes so long bc they actually cant afford it #theres nowhere to go where i get some peace nd quiet. the forest is full of drill sounds and explosions and just awful noise #basically i just HATE how i live. i hate this city #i hate my apartment bc of my family and neighbors and how ugly it is #i've lived in the same place for 25 years im just sick of it #i've put myself on a couple of apartment waiting lists but that can take years :(( #also i cant move while im on benefits/wellfare (yes im a burden on the state stfu KYS) #i could get a job but how where???? the most realistic for ME nd the useless stupid incapable person i am is to move ad a student #but in order for that i need to finish upper secondary school and get my 'diploma' so i can apply for some programs and move to another city #getting student housing is not easy but it's easier and more straightforward then finding a job and move (in the position im in) #and for some reason..... actually doing my schoolwork is so so hard and i dont wanna! :(( #even if i know i HAVE to bc i dont have any otherq options :/ #i cant stand living in this town and i cant stand living w my family i need a new place by myself #genuinely i hate myself bc why can i not just DO things??? other ppl get shit done. why cant i? i just dont know how and its frustrating #also other ppl dont understand. they just think im lazy and incompetent and think like omg just do it #i've asked therapists for help but it's like they dont know anything bc i have never gotten help #fuckkkkk i wanna move away i wanna be an adult i wanna get an education and pay rent and be normal

finally got my car back yesterday after it’s been in the shop post accident since the end of august. it’s been an absolute chaotic 16/17 days. the accident, actually being minorly injured after it (y’all seriously don’t wear hair clips while driving or even riding for that matter), and then the chaos that’s been dealing with insurance and lack of communication from the shop about how long repairs would take (oh then the cherry being yesterday picking up the car and they couldn’t find the keys for nearly five whole minutes—I wish I was joking)

but the car is fixed, lifetime warranty on repair spot, doesn’t even look like it was hit, I’m feeling better healing wise just exhausted from the inconvenience of dealing with a rental and it’s impact on my commute to work and insurance companies and lack of communication.

It’s been a long 16/17 days and I’m tired and yes, now that I’ve caught up with everything else that’s been thrown off from the messed up routine, I’m trying to take time for myself and rest and recover

i love useless special interests! for example i realized recently that voice actors/voice acting is one of my lifelong special interests and i LOVE when i hear a narration in an ad that sounds like just a generic Narrator Voice but i immediately know (or at least have a suspicion of) who it is. the key bank ad on hulu came on and i almost immediately recognized the narrator as katey sagal (tbf im obsessed with futurama but i actually didn't clock her until a specific inflection change halfway into the ad and i suddenly heard leela and peggy bundy talking at me). recently there was an apple watch ad that had ty burrell. and another one, i don't remember what the ad was for (possibly metro pcs?), that i'm 99% sure was retta. my ears prick up like a dog when i recognize a voice. i will likely never have any actual productive use for this knowledge other than creeping out my friends but i like having it anyway
