House of Finarfin | Being In An Arranged Marriage With Them
Tumblr media
A/N: I've been painfully pinning for more. The only thing to note once more is that all of these takes place in Valinor, in a no-darkening verse. Here's our golden-hair boys!!
Warnings: arranged marriage, dispute, resentment, feeling of loneliness and neglect, there are fluff and soft themes, love at first sight, comfort, happy-ending in Aegnor (because I have a soft spot for him, he’s my baby)
Arranged Marriage AU: Nolofinweans ver.
Tumblr media
₊✧⋆⭒˚。⋆ Finarfin
As much as Finarfin attempts to hide his disappointment, it’s visible to the point that you tremble by simply being in his presence during the hearing. You’re sitting on the opposite side of the table and he’s silent the entire time, eyes darting between glaring at his father and looking intently at you.
Truth be told, Finarfin is a gentle and wise soul and he’s aware that you’re both being forced into a situation neither of you wants to be in. He doesn’t have the heart to be rude or mean towards you. The most he would do is keep a distance until he can wrap his head around the situation.
He’ll speak with you, should you ask him questions; he’ll answer and converse. However should you remain silent, he’ll attempt to crack the ice or allow the silence to run its course. There are times when he’s torn between deciding if he should make it work or continue maintaining the distance since it was forced upon him.
As a man of respect, he’ll ask to speak privately with you, wanting to have your honest opinion on the situation and whether or not you have a secret lover on the side before deciding his moves.
“I know this was forced upon us both and neither of us is pleased, however, I’m not fond of the uncomfortable silence growing between us and would like to make something possible. But firstly, I’d like to know if there’s someone apart from me? A secret lover? If not, I would be pleased if an acquaintance could blossom between us, otherwise, I would understand and keep a respectable distance.”
If there isn’t anyone in your life and it’s just you and Finarfin, he’ll make his move to develop some sort of friendship between you both, remembering to not overstep your boundaries. A simple arm in the crook of his elbows or walking shoulder to shoulder, also practising to appear comfortable with physical affection in public.
He would harbour feelings towards his father for ruining his chance of going out there to find actual love, nevertheless, he never makes you feel unworthy of being cared for by him. Attempts at building comfort would be his priority.
Of course, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. There are moments when he is roused through his divine senses and stumbles upon your weeping figure somewhere in the house. During these moments, your vulnerability is revealed which brings you closer.
Private conversations about how neither of you believed your lives to end up this way and how much turmoil you must both face because of the new lifestyle to adapt to. Finarfin will be honest in a modest manner and admit that he also felt the same despite the friendly act, but genuinely wants something positive to blossom.
To the public eye, you two are considered the perfect example of what a couple should be like, however, behind closed doors, they aren’t aware of how troubled you both are as you’re trying to overcome obstacles and endure the arrangement.
Tumblr media
₊✧⋆⭒˚。⋆ Finrod
It comes as a massive shock to him when his father delivers the news that he must commit to the arrangement made between him and your family. Never in all of Finrod’s life, he would suspect his father of denying him a chance to find love and explore the world to settle down for an arranged marriage.
Finrod is sulky and visible displeasure is plastered across his face as he listens to arrangements being made. You on the other hand weren’t spared from his behaviour (though it wasn’t directed at you).
Of course, Finrod disagrees with everything every chance he gets which causes an issue. He’d be told to excuse the room due to obstruction and stumble out pissed as hell about the situation. Definitely the type of drink his stress away all to forget the horrible conversation of feeling like he and you were objects being sold away like cattle.
Not a great way to be introduced to your future husband, but the most you can do to set the record straight is show him you cared whether or not you were intended. You saw him as a person nonetheless and wished only the best for him. Due to this, it would change some of Finrod’s perspective of you to witness your gentle nature.
Now Finrod isn’t disrespectful towards you or anyone, only displeased at the situation. With this in mind, he will care you for like he does with anyone, however, things would be mostly kept at the friendship level for a lengthier time. For the longest period, Finrod would keep you at a great distance due to how clouded his mind and heart were at the situation before noticing that something could possibly be.
“You must forgive me if I’m dragging this…situation out longer than it should be. It’s just, that I am still unaccustomed to an occurrence like this, and to simply overlook the reasons and be merry is challenging. However, I promise to treat you with respect and kindness.”
There will be days when Finrod isn’t at home because he’s out adventuring across the lands, when he returns, he comes bearing gifts. It might not be the typical gifts you would expect from his excavation, nevertheless, he thought of you. He would do his best to involve himself in your crafts or trade, wanting to show his interest while he hopes you would reciprocate.
As time progresses, your friendship will blossom and develop your comfort around one another. Having breakfast, lunch dates and dinner would become more frequent, sharing a hug and a kiss on the hand or cheek would lack awkwardness and becoming mentally vulnerable is more common.
Marriage between you both would come soon, however, you two wouldn’t escalate your friendship into something more until years into your marriage. Finrod isn’t the type to just go with the flow when it hinders his opinions and emotions. He would prefer to ensure a secure friendship over a broken and forced romantic relationship.
Tumblr media
₊✧⋆⭒˚。⋆ Angrod
He’s the most disgruntled of them all and it is shown in the way he greets you and everyone upon learning of the news. Like his elder brother, he’s dissatisfied with the agreement his father and mother would make without his opinion. To simply drop his single life and be forced into pursuing a marriage to a complete stranger is unacceptable.
From the beginning, he’s distant. Barely speaks and acknowledges your presence, treating you as though you had some hand in arranging your marriage. Once you realise where you stood on the scale of people he despised because of this arrangement, you’d maintain your distance and only politely greet him when he was around.
If you were in the same room or table, you’d be on the opposite side unless you had to appear as a couple. Because of his distance behaviour in the beginning, it makes it impossible to accomplish anything to make it work for the public eye. All you wanted was some closure to make this work, even if it meant remaining acquaintances who understood they were victims.
You would be the one to plant your foot down, tired of being treated without an ounce of remorse and like the villain.
“Please, all I’m asking is for you to understand, I’m the same as you and I had nothing to do with it. I know you don’t like this…or me; you probably have someone else you love, but at least acknowledge I’m not the one to blame. I only want us to be relaxed, not be truly in love; friendship is also welcomed.”
He’d feel like dick for treating you like one when you’ve been trying to smooth things over with him all these months. All the days when you avoided him or didn’t speak with him were due to his unpleasantness, it would dawn on him that this was not the way he was taught to treat someone.
He’s the only person who would take forever to come around and welcome you as a so–so friend. Angrod would begin to spend mornings or lunchtimes with you, making small conversations to break the ice and see that you’re not as horrible as he assumed. This doesn’t mean he’s going to go out of his way to become an absolute gentleman; he’s still maintaining his distance.
As your days morph into weeks and months, having breakfast, lunch and dinner becomes a norm, and stepping into public also. He would have mastered being composed holding you closely and defending you should anyone ill–talk about you. At times, he would catch himself slipping away into a hearty conversation as though you’ve been longtime buddies.
There is awkwardness and tension still present all the way into your marriage, yet, as he progresses into understanding your stance and opinion on the situation, he slowly becomes vulnerable.
Tumblr media
₊✧⋆⭒˚。⋆ Aegnor
Disappointed at the news but slightly intrigued by who he’s being paired with to spend the rest of his life. There’s a gloomy atmosphere over him as he’s sitting beside his parents, listening to them prattle forever about the joys of uniting the family while he’s listening for any clues to determine your identity.
Profanities and problems are arising the same way his elder brother Finrod did; complaining and throwing everyone off with their speech to have them say the wrong words so that he could get out of the arrangement.
It’s only after the meeting is over and he’s allowed the privacy of being introduced to you, that his frown flips upside down at the sight of how beautiful his spouse is. He’s spellbound and frozen in his spot as you come over to introduce yourself, entirely enthralled and compliments you immediately without being aware.
What a perfect way to break the tension and fear you were experiencing during the entire planning. Aegnor washes everything away with his charming smile and youthful persona as he feels light on his feet, falling in love.
“You are too beautiful to be my spouse; you would steal my spotlight which I have no hesitation in giving. I fear it is I who is unfit for this arrangement, I do not entirely appear suitable to be your husband. You deserve someone who is equally stunning and handsome as you are, Your Grace.”
I hate to say it, but he’s a hopeless romantic and would be the only sibling to fall head over heels in love you with over the duration of time leading to your wedding. Spending breakfast, lunch, dinner and all his spare time learning the most about you. All the anger that he had during the preparations has dissipated and he’s all about romance and being appreciative.
If there was any rumour about him hating the idea of being in an arranged marriage circulating, he shut it down and made it clear that such words were never spoken and ceased to exist. He’s a grateful ellon proud to have you as his spouse.
Of all his siblings and even his father, Aegnor would be the one to make this arrangement a success, being the first to fall in love and truly pursue a genuine relationship. He doesn’t attempt the friendship path like everyone else, he dives directly into the fire.
Respectful of your personal space and wouldn’t encroach unless you initiate hand–holding or bestowing a kiss to his cheek (he’ll turn tomato if you do so). All physical interactions are lovingly returned; full of meaning and he’ll throw in a ‘My love’ at the end of each.
There isn’t much to worry about when it comes to this arrangement between you and Aegnor. He’ll maintain any annoyance he has away from the relationship, wanting to make it work because he sees that you’re trying. He comes to your defence and stands up to anyone ill–treating you.

Arafinweans as horses
Tumblr media
(Last one of the bunch. Hope you like it and I’m always down more for horse silmarillion)
Requested by @a-contemplation-upon-flowers
Warnings; none
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-You looked around for a job. Your old job didn’t make the cut, and you couldn't balance your life and hobbies around it.
-Your parents then contacted one of their friends, who offered a job at a stable, which made you excited.
-You loved horses, so you accepted the offer.
-Your parents helped you to move to a cheap place, then took you to the stable.
-The stable was beautiful, and you were in awe as you marveled at the horses in their large dens and grounds where they ran free without a care.
-The stable of Lothlorien.
-You’re welcomed by the stable owner, Irmo, who was enthusiastic to show you around and what you’re going to do as your job.
-Your job was to care for a batch of horses since their owners were on vacation. Or too busy to stop by the stable.
-You didn’t think much of it and took it as an acceptable challenge.
-When Irmo took you to see the horses, that’s when you swooned.
-There were five beautiful white horses with manes like gold.
-You have never seen anything like them before, and it felt like a fever dream you once had as a child.
-Irmo introduced them as Finrod, Orodreth, Aegnor, Angrod, and the only mare, Galadriel.
-They were all siblings and foals to the infamous dressage horses, Finarfin and Earwen.
-You found that surprising since you remember Finarfin was related to the infamous racehorses Feanor and Fingolfin, and he was a dressage horse. You thought all horses from that family tree were race horses.
-Irmo helped you to learn your daily task, and you settled for your new job.
-You felt ready and thought it wasn’t going to be too difficult.
-Oh, how wrong you were because you didn’t think with four horses and four different personalities, and it was a wild roller coaster.
Finrod
-He was a beautiful white horse with a mane that shone gold with sunlight.
-He was the oldest of the bunch and the tallest.
-He had a friendly personality and was very sweet to you when you two first met.
-You pretty much fell in love with him and his sweet nature.
-You were quite small compared to him, and you felt nervous the first time you took him out of the stall by yourself.
-However, he managed to control his excitement when he sensed you were nervous and nicely walked behind like an oversized puppy.
-Cleaning and washing him was troublesome since he was very tall, but you managed to make it work by standing on a tool, and Finrod stayed put.
-Finrod was a dressage horse, like his father, and was considered one of the fairest stallions in the world.
-When you first got on his back. You were nervous because you sat so high from the ground.
-Finrod being a gentle giant, stood calm when he sensed your fright. He went peacefully, so you got used to him quickly.
-And you loved the experience.
-Finrod is quite playful when you let him free into his den. He would have a horse version of zoomies, jump around and roll around on the ground.
-You thought you would have to wash him after those sessions, but surprisingly he remained clean and good-looking.
-His coat was merely covered in dust, and after a few pats, he was clean as new. It was like there was not a force in the world that would allow him to get dirty.
-Finrod is helpful when you care for his siblings. He was a gentle giant, but when he saw his siblings giving you trouble, he would loudly neigh, and his siblings would behave around you.
-You make sure to reward him with treats whenever he does that.
-Finrod was a well-behaved horse and barely did anything to give you a headache, but even with the brightest come downsides.
-He has a terrible habit of trying to make friends with every living creature he sees.
-He gets along with every horse in the stable but sometimes tries to befriend mean farm animals from the neighbor and wild animals from a nearby forest.
-He once got kidnapped by a bunch of burglars. It was easy because he was friendly with them and willingly went along into the trailer.
-His kidnapping caused a lot of panic, but the stallion came back trotting the other day excitedly as if nothing happened.
-He traveled a lot with his owner, so he knew how to come back.
-He would feel guilty and stand in the shame corner for the longest time when he gets scolded.
-Most likely did nothing serious, so you gave him pats and treats, and he was all good.
-You enjoy spending time with him and sometimes run along with him in the dens, then sometimes you just chill on the grass, enjoying the sun.
+100/10 horse. He is a sweetheart, friendly, and the least troublesome stallion. You enjoy being with him and he makes your days a lot brighter like his golden mane.
Orodreth
-Orodreth was another white horse, but his mane shone more with silver than gold.
-He was a bit timid when you first met, but he slowly warmed up to you when you two spent time, and you showed him patience.
-He was another sweetheart, but because of his shy nature, he can get easily distracted and get scared even by the tiniest noises.
-You have more than twice fallen from his back. The experience was unpleasant, and you can never predict when he jumps by another sound.
-He would feel guilty when you fall from his back and wait beside you till you get up.
-He doesn’t mean anything foul, and you could not hate him for it. The world is a scary place.
-He hates baths because he didn't like when the water gets less warm, and he has to wait a while till his coat dries up.
-He would whine and then shake himself up, getting you wet.
-Orodreth was a jumper and a good one of that. He would hyper-fixate and focus on jumping with precision and grace.
-He was easy to ride since he was a bit smaller than Finrod, but he does send you flying higher than his older brother because he got startled by even the tiniest noise.
-You know he does not mean any foul about it, but you kinda wish he would be a bit braver when listening to the cricketing sounds of a grasshopper.
-His hate for his bath has caused him to be disgusted with touching any muddy, and he gets more clumsy too.
-One time, you both were trying to get across a muddy puddle. Orodreth tried to avoid touching it with his hooves, but then he slipped, and you both fell.
-You broke your knee thanks to his weight.
-Orodreth felt really bad about it since you couldn't come to the stable for the longest time, but after you recovered, you made sure to visit him and give him pats, assuring him he was forgiven.
-Some people don't like mud.
9/10 He’s a sweetheart and doesn’t cause too much trouble. However, you receive more bruises when falling from his back thanks to his timid nature and dislike of mud and water.
Aegnor
-Aegnor was another majestic white horse, his mane was also gold like Finrods, but he had a bit of golden color in his white coat.
-He was a friendly stallion but sometimes gave you the attitude.
-He likes to appear high and mighty but luckily did not decide to make your life difficult.
-He was easy to clean, and most of the time, he spent his time with Angrod in the dens.
-Aegnor was a racehorse like his father, and you experienced that firsthand when you took him for a ride with Angrod’s rider.
-It was scary but awesome.
-He was an arrogant prick sometimes, but then you discovered there was romance going on with him and a mare.
-Aegnor had a growing crush on a dark bay-colored mare named Andreth, who resided on the opposite side of the stable.
-You almost did not recognize him because around Andreth. He turned into a hopeless romantic.
-But you enjoyed watching the drama and how nervous he gets around her.
-But it was also painful to watch, so you decided to be a wingman for a horse.
-You agreed on the date with Andreth’s owner, who agreed enthusiastically, and you both brought the horses into the same den.
-Aegnor was clueless till you told him you arranged a date for him and freed him into the den with Anreth.
-The confrontation went better than expected, and Aegnor had completely; shut down.
-You enjoyed watching the prideful stallion become a shy mess and almost flee, but they hung around, and all was good.
-He tripped on his foot and fell into the mud, causing mud to decorate his golden coat, and you and Andreth’s owner laughed.
-You have never seen a horse so embarrassed.
-Let’s just say, Aegnor was not happy with you at the end of the day.
-He gave you “I hate you,” looks and was constantly whisking his tail into your face and messing things up to make it harder for you.
-You did not even mind because it was worth it, and you were sure you just got him together with his crush. So, he will thank you later.
10/10 He’s a nice horse. Even though; he’s sometimes a prick. The bonus point was for the drama with Andreth.
Angrod
-Angrod looked quite similar to Aegnor, except he was a bit smaller and had a bulkier figure.
-He is a bit indifferent toward you, but you two get along, and he was not the most troublesome horse around.
-He spends most of his time with Aegnor in the den, following his brother around and peacefully eating grass.
-Angrod's just chilling most of the time.
-He was a cross-country jumper, and it's fun going on rides with Aegnors owner through the forest and race.
-You even win most of the time.
-Aegnor was a racehorse, but Angrod was better when being in his field.
-Angrod loves baths. But he has a bad habit of rolling on the ground right after you wash him, so you always need to do it again.
-You are not certain if it was on purpose or if he just has an itchy back after every bath session.
9/10. Angrod is a nice and friendly horse. He's very chill about everything and does not cause you any trouble. You do not like washing him twice a day.
Galadriel
-The only mare of the bunch. A beautiful white horse with a golden mane like Finrod, but there was a sense of majesty when you stood around her.
-Your thoughts, she was going to be easy to handle since she was well-behaved and all, but to your surprise. She was the one who gave the most attitude.
-She had that sense of superiority like Aegnor, but she had the power to make you scared and not try her patience.
-It was successful because you treated her like royalty and avoided anything that might piss her off.
-You work hard to maintain her mane and coat and that she did not have the wrong food before feeding her.
-You were scared of her, but after some time, though. She was pretty friendly and sweet toward you.
-She still stands mighty and cold toward others like it was her business to hold a frightening reputation.
-You still try to avoid annoying her because some minor inconveniences can make her moody and whisk her tail into your face.
-You were scared to ride her once, but she was pretty calm and went peacefully to help you get comfortable with her.
-She was another dressage horse and considered the best right after Finrod.
-She likes to listen to music and has a picky library of choices on what she wants to hear during the riding session.
-You like riding her when you want time to think and complain about life a little. You did not mean to make it into a habit, but Galadriel did not seem to mind.
-She sometimes gave comforting nuzzle rubs to make you feel better.
-Galadriel was usually calm, but one time when a pretty arrogant brat was assigned to ride her for a class, the kid brought a crop and rode like a hooligan, annoying the white mare.
-It was the first time you saw her pissed off and bucking the kid off her back.
-The kid shed crocodile tears, and Galadriel felt no shame. She merely snorted and trotted off.
-You made a mental note to never bring a crop when its time to ride her.
8/10. Honestly, you are still kinda scared of Galadriel. She can be sweet and less troublesome, but her mood can change quickly, and you rather not test her patience. Also, she has a bad habit of staring which makes you feel threatened.

Earwen and Finarfin are the most even-tempered noldo around and somehow spawned these total chaos rockets who bite werewolfs to death, fall in love with mortals, and run off with hippies in the woods. Since Finarfin is more straight-laced than Turgon, the only explanation is that Earwen is secretly also an eldritch diva who presumably brews moonshine and has even less sense than her children.

Headcanon Crafts for the House of Finarfin
Earwen: a sailor. Yes, I know, the Teleri are the sea elves, but while most of them can manage in a rowboat, only a few are true sailors; able to navigate the Teleri's finest ships, even in rocky bays or stormy waves. And Earwen was the best of the best. She was particularly fond of venturing out where no one had before, seeing everything there was to see on the ocean, though she always turned back to Valinor eventually.
Finrod: a bard. While Maglor's focus was always on the oral history of the Quendi, Finrod preferred to learn folktales and lays, which were often preformed more casually and retold with somewhat improvised lyrics on the fly. By the time of his death, he knew more myths and legends (elvish, mannish, and dwarfish) than anyone else, though most of it remained unwritten and died with him.
Angrod: a spinner. Well, he didn't just spin wool into thread– though he did keep a few sheep, and was very fond of them. He spun thread and yarn from various materials, and then hand made dye to turn it various colors. He valued his work for its rich hues and remarkable resistance to fraying. He was basically the only person whose thread was high quality enough for Caranthir; the two of them really bonded over fiber work.
Aegnor: a dancer; more in-line with traditional Vanyar work than most Noldor crafts. He had the strength and precision for the most complex dances, though he was sometimes a bit awkward when it came to dancing with a partner. Some speculated that he would swear his service to Nessa, as one of the few dancers skilled enough for a place in her halls, but he never did. He always felt there was more for him in life than endless routine.
Orodreth: a gardener. Look, a garden is an amazing work because it's always growing and changing, and it's made in collaboration with nature. Orodreth loved that sense connection with the world around him, and tried to make garden that looked more natural and weren't bound to beds or boxes. His favorite flowers were always tulips. Though it was underground, Nargothrond still had beautiful gardens thanks to some creativity on his part.
Galadriel: a baker, like Finarfin. As a child, she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and make something that everyone would be able to enjoy; she learned a lot of her craft directly from him. Aredhel would often bring her fresh ingredients from the Valinorian woods. After going to Middle-Earth, she set her craft aside because she had no use for fancy craft work when she had to deal with fighting hordes of orcs and trying to deal with Sindar-Noldor political relationships. Also Finarfin and Aredhel weren't around anyone. She came back to it in the Second Age, and was able to find peace and happiness in her craft once again, although she never lost any of her warrior's skill.
Bonus! Although he wasn't aware of it, Finrod actually managed to make his way into legends and folktales throughout the peoples of Middle-Earth. Though his story was changed over time, he's always remembered as a faithful friend and a ray of light in dark times– and as having a rather impressive amount of fancy jewelry. He learns this all in Valinor, from his conversations with another famous keeper of tales: Bilbo Baggins.

So I was thinking, reading Aegnor and Andreth from the perspective of an asexual Aegnor makes their story a bit less tragic. But a bit more complicated.
The whole thing about not marrying because of Noldor customs during war could be a simpler explanation Aegnor used to refuse to marry Andreth and give her what she desired but he didn't. The fact that marriage and physical relations were quite interchangeable for elves (thanks LaCE) makes it natural that Aegnor would equate the two and refuse marriage altogether.
And maybe when they met, Andreth was very much a horny teenager? Eager to explore romance and sexual pleasure. While Aegnor was shy but willing to indulge the romance bit, he did not know how to word his feelings on the pleasure part.
Though their romance blossomed, it remained unconsummated according to Andreth, an ache she took to her grave. But Aegnor had no such regrets, he died with a love he considered fulfilled, albeit short.

How about Aegnor and warmth for the writing prompts?
Aegnor & Angrod, 1.1k
The sounds of the coals popping in the iron braziers, the fire crackling in the hearth, and the soft scratching of Angrod’s quill filled the silence of the room as Aegnor polished his armor. The pleasant warmth of the room and the monotony of his task might have lulled him into comfortable quietude, but for the thoughts that warred within him and turned his mind this way and that.
Across the room, Angrod pushed away the small pile of correspondence he had responded to and turned to collect the mending he had set aside earlier, examining his previous stitches.
Aegnor hesitated, the words that he wanted to say crowding on the tip of his tongue even as his mind urged him to stay silent. Stalling, he held his breastplate up to the light of the fire and watched the reflection of the firelight flicker upon its burnished surface.
“You wish to say something,” came Angrod’s voice from the other side of the room. “Speak.”
Aegnor sighed and lowered the breastplate to look at his brother. “Do I wear my thoughts so plainly?”
The corner of Angrod’s mouth curved as he threaded his needle. “You were polishing with more vigor than the task demands.”
Aegnor set the breastplate aside, using the moment to gather his thoughts before he spoke. “How did you know that you wished to marry Edhellos—that what you felt for her could not be mistaken for aught else, and that you must either act upon it or forever rue not doing so and think ever of what might have been?”
Angrod regarded him over the sleeve of the tunic he mended. “Do you ask because of Boromir’s eldest daughter, Andreth the Wise-woman?”
Aegnor’s mouth twisted into a wry smile. “Have I worn my affections plainly, too?”
“Not to others, but I know you better than any other,” Angrod said, returning to his mending. “I have seen your eye upon her at the feasts, and you have spent much of this visit out upon the heaths and hidden in the woods. Doubtless you know better how the birds and beasts of Dorthonion fare than how its people do.” Though he jested, his voice was warm.
But all mirth faded as he looked at Aegnor again, and his voice when he spoke now was no louder than the popping of the coals or the crackling of the fire. “But I need not tell you that such a union would end in great grief, Aikanáro. There is no painless friendship between Eldar and Edain, much less the deep love of marriage.” Angrod’s gaze was gentle and compassionate. “Though she is young now, Andreth’s years are few, and the grief of the sundering would be fast on the heels of whatever brief joy you may find together.”
Aegnor smiled sadly. “That I well know, and it is that which complicates the matter, for I know my heart and what it would have me do, but that which I know in my heart is tempered by the voice of my mind, telling me that such desires should never be.”
Angrod watched Aegnor but said nothing, and his silence encouraged Aegnor to continue.
“I had thought that I would never marry, for my heart turned toward none in my youth, and the grief of the kinslayings and the bitter crossing drove any such concerns wholly from my mind. I was content with guarding the leaguer and protecting these lands, but now I find myself at a crossroads, and I do not know in which direction I should turn.” Aegnor twisted the polishing wax in his hands. “My heart tells me that I should not squander what I have found, nor the short time that love lays to my hand, but my mind tells me that the grief such a course would bring would be my ending.
“And were I to follow my heart’s bidding, where should I take her?” He moved to stand in front of the fire and clutched at the mantle, peering into the flames. “North to the siege and draw her nearer to danger, or flee to the east or south and so leave everyone I and she hold dear? Were I to do so, the guilt of not holding to what has been entrusted to me would dog my heels even in the short time of joy I would have while Andreth lives, and yet were I to choose my duty, I could not escape the guilt of forsaking what has grown between us. The choice before me is bitter and full of woe, and I must lose something I cherish in the choosing."
Aegnor fell silent for a moment, and the snapping of the fire filled the silence. When he spoke again, his voice was softer. “I know what Andreth would wish for me to choose, and I would choose it though it bring me grief until the breaking of the world, but for the warning in my heart that the leaguer will not hold, and my presence will be needed at the front ere her years have run their course.
"If the leaguer broke during her twilight years, it would grieve me beyond words to leave her alone and unaided, defenseless and dependent on the goodwill of others in the midst of great danger. Better it would seem to take her away from the north, but were I to do so, I would have the blood of all Dorthonion on my hands.” Aegnor closed his eyes and rested his forehead against the mantle, and he heard Angrod's soft step move toward him.
Angrod was silent for a long moment, and his voice, when he spoke, was quiet. “I can give you no wise counsel, Aikanáro, for I have no wisdom in this matter, nor, I deem, do any of our people, for such love has never existed between Eldar and Edain, nor, perhaps, was it ever meant to. But such words do not ease the burden of such a choice, nor do they bring comfort.”
Angrod turned and clasped his brother’s shoulder. “So I will say this instead: Know that whatever choice you make, I will help you bear the burden of it, as I can, for it is a burden and grief none should bear alone.”
Aegnor placed his hand over Angrod’s. “That is a comfort greater than words could provide.”

Finrod: And while I’m gone, you’re in charge
Angrod and Aegnor: *high five*
Finrod, leaning over and whispering to Edalote: You’re secretly in charge
Edalote: Obviously

I don't like the babyfication of the smallest siblings of the finwean families. I headcanon that they are worst than their older brothers.
Aegnor & Angrod: They live at Dorthonion!! Right in front of Thangorodrim. If someone is afraid of death its certainly not them. Plus they are named something like fire fist? Metal something? Those boys are chads
Argon: Fought orcs by himself and freezed to death. Give this boy some credit. I bet he was like a mini version of Turgon but with Anairë's looks.
Amras & Amrod: ooooh ok. I actually have a crazy headcanon for this two: Amrod dies at losgar and Amras goes crazy. Like actually crazy. He moves to Ossiriand and stablosjes on Amon Ereb, far from the north and there he becomes his own version of Frankenstein and brings Amrod back to life.
Putting that appart, i think he was the only brother who was actually eager for the Third Kinslaying. He survived the most and that speaks a lot to me about his strength.

‧₊˚. Can You Kiss Me More | Kissing the Elves‧₊˚.
Headcanons: Amrod, Amras, Turgon, Angrod, Aegnor, Gil Galad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Amrod — like you were made of glass.
His arms would encircle your waist while the other rested on the upper portion of your back between your shoulder blades. Lips a few inches away from yours, you could feel his breath ghosting your cheeks and causing your lashes to flutter. Your lips were moist from all the anticipation you were building in your nervousness when he stood before you with determination. Eyes darting from your lips to your eyes, he hesitated at first, testing the waters to ensure you were on board with his actions. Once he saw the gleam of eagerness in your eyes, he tenderly leaned in and planted his slightly rough lips against yours.
The first kiss was fleeting before he planted another, this time, with more vigour. His arms pressed you against his chest while yours gripped his for balance. Amrod kissed you with fiery passion, though, it did not burn. It was warm and welcoming, beckoning you for more. Your lips danced with one another as you tasted the cherry-flavoured wine on his lips and grew eager for more. There was something about him that was addicting, but Amrod was patient enough to pull away with a gentle peck. “Why don’t we continue this inside?” he breathlessly whispered.
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Amras — like a cheeky lover on a summer day.
You couldn’t help but giggle as Amras's hands roamed your sides, tickling as they travelled up and down to draw all the laughter he could. Knees planted on either side of your waist as he partially sat on your legs, he hovered with his face near yours, marvelling at the beauty you were. Suddenly, there was a fleeting touch of something wet against your cheek and a grinning Amras gleaming above you. One kiss was never enough for the mischievous ginger, and you didn’t need to be told twice that he was making his rounds for another. This time, you met his halfway when his lips came down to collide with your cheek, with your lips.
Expecting him to be stunted, Amras used the opportunity to strike with his endless puppy-like kisses by grabbing your face. The more you laughed, the more playfully aggressive Amras grew with his kisses, covering every ounce of your skin with his lips. They felt like the sun kissing your skin repeatedly. The pleasures of the summer wind dancing across your skin and caressing you with utmost love and affection were endless and euphoric. Amras blessed you with his sweet kisses from your forehead to your lips. “I expect to receive my share after I’m finished here!”
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Turgon — with all his undying passion he’s suppressed.
Feeling your back pressed against the soft picnic blanket, a pair of soft pillows collided with yours, filling you to the brim with passion. You could feel the tension in his movements; he’s been dying to have alone time so he could express his affections. This was the first time he ever took a step towards displaying affection in public—couldn’t call it public when you were miles away from the city. His lips moved against yours with the burning desire to make you feel his love, even his hands that cupped your face held you with might. The soft moan and sigh that escaped his mouth as the kiss progressed told you he was pleased.
Tilting your head upwards to deepen the kiss, your hands trailed to cup his face to meet you at the required angle. The action caused your lips to part and eyes to open, allowing you to witness his mirth. A smile played on his lips, swollen and plump from all the passion he was drunk on delivering. He appeared carefree like the silly young prince who fumbled with his words when he first confessed and bumped heads at your kiss. To see how he had matured and felt comfortable kissing you vigorously was a dream come through. Lifting your head to close the gap, you placed a small peck on his lips and nose before you both giggled. “I can never get tired of kissing you.”
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Angrod — kisses you with desperation and hunger.
Standing at the entrance of your home, Angrod stood chest to chest with one hand around your waist and the other cupping the nap of your neck. The evening was peaceful as the sun setting in the background set the ambience while you and Angrod shared your first kiss. The air was filled with passion and desire, the desperation to finally kiss you after waiting for months. Your lips were finally locked with his, and he wasn’t wasting the opportunity to make it everlasting. Whatever space was left between you was closed when he pressed you into his chest to deepen the kiss.
Your lips moved in sync, breaking apart only to gasp for air before returning to make progress. For a moment, you felt like he was devouring your lips with small bites and nibbles. He took control and led the kiss. Occasionally, you would knock your teeth and bump your nose against each other; the action provided humour among the seriousness. Soft chuckles erupted and urged you to pull apart with reddened and plumped lips, and bliss in your eyes. The hands that held you lifted to caress your cheeks. “I can’t wait to kiss you all over again.”
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Aegnor — like it’s a fairytale and a dream come true.
You felt like there were butterflies flapping in your stomach and taking you to the heavens, soaring high above the clouds and among the stars. Your stomach was performing cartwheels and tumbles the moment Aegnor’s lips meshed with yours and his hands cradled your face. He treated you as though you were made from the finest gems in all of Arda. The way his lip moulded against yours appeared like a perfect sculpture chiselled out of marble. They were soft and pillowy the more they moved against yours, only breaking apart to kiss at a new angle because one kiss wasn’t enough. The more he kissed, the more you felt yourself being transported.
The little hitches in your breath, when he nibbled on your lips before planting a kiss, felt playful. It was a sign that he was ready to break the kiss and litter your entire face in abundant affection. He always doted on you as if you were a lost treasure, most precious and rare, deserving of all the love he held in his heart. A kiss to your nose, followed by one to your forehead, he took the opportunity to bring you into a sudden dip and ended the last one on your lips. There was an air of charm and innocence as the moment became tranquil—just staring into each other’s eyes and basking in all the unspoken words he wished to say. “Perfect.”
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. Gil Galad — with an air of playfulness and youth.
For the entire day, no matter how much you complained about it, your loving husband found it best to annoy you with treaties of kisses for everything you were doing. Whether you had made a correct statement at court or won an argument against a court official, he would lean down a litter kisses on your face. You could be walking by and decide to greet him, he’ll pull you in for a kiss or perhaps, adjusting the collar of his robes, he’ll distract you. It didn’t matter what you were doing, kisses were your payment for all you had done for him. A way of your King saying, ‘I love you’ and ‘thank you’.
He has you sandwiched between him and the mattress, hands pinning you to the bed, and lips scattering hundreds of kisses. Your neck, collarbones, upper chest and face weren’t free from the slaughter he chose to brutally attack with. It was all because you decided to take care of him with lunch—he tended to blow things out of proportion—he desired to return the favour. Loving the giggles and ignoring your pleas to let you go, Gil Galad continued to deliver his mountain of love, knowing that you secretly enjoyed every minute. “Stop squirming around my love and let me shower you with my affections!”

Aicarosse Alassindo
Tumblr media
(This is a little introduction to my oc because I am going to post soon a fic with this character and a male reader.) Enjoy!
Warnings; Mentions about the kinslaying, loss of parents and friends, trauma and internal conflict.
----------------------------------------------------------------
- Aicarosse was born in Alqualondë in the years of the trees. He is related to the house of Arafinwe from Earwen’s side. He is the son of one of her brothers.
-His hair was flowing white like the pearly shores of  Alqualondë, and his eyes shined like the emeralds of the green sea.
-His birth name is Alassindo, meaning joy soul. He was a child filled with joy as he often played around with other children and brought smiles to other people.
- He often saw a silver lining to everything and hardly ever judged people. His nature made him very loved among his people.
-His name Aicarosse, piercing rain, came as there was a wild storm when he was born.
-He also had an odd love for the weather and didn’t fear even the wildest storms.
-When he came of age, he even dared to sail through the wild waves and the unrelenting storms without fear. It was for excitement and adventure, as he once said.
-He was close friends with the children of Finarfin. Aegnor, being his closest friend and companion.
-The two would often play together on the shores whenever Aegnor wished to have time off from his family. The two sometimes would dream about the world beyond Valinor, and with Aicarosse, Aegnor would refrain his temper the most as Aicarosse’s calm nature would often help him to calm down.
-He shared deep bonds with them and didn’t think much of their other family members till the darkening of the trees and kinslaying of the Teleri.
-He was still relatively young by elven standards, and he witnessed the death of his family and friends at the hands of the Noldor. He survived the act but was left traumatized.
-When the Noldor left the shores with the stolen ships, Aicarosse was found later beside his dead family, frozen and quietly mourning. It was Finarfin who found the young boy after turning back from the rebellion.
-Earwen was heartbroken to see the state of her nephew, so she took him in after her children decided to leave Aman along with the people of Fingolfin.
-He loved his aunt but couldn't help but feel bitterness when his cousins left her and journeyed along with the murderers of his kin. His bond with them became strained ever since.
-Earwen brought great comfort, and the two bonded over their shared loss. She promised to look after him since the death of his parents.
-Aicarosse felt hatred toward the Noldor. Not only did they kill his family and his people and stole their boats. They dared to burn them like it was their right.
-His people had made them with their fea, and the Noldor destroyed their creations like it was nothing after murdering hundreds to acquire them. Aicarosse couldn't help but mourn for them.
-His healing took a long time but seeing his people were scattered. He decided to take responsibility early and become the lord of his house. Burying his grief in a deep dark enclosure of his fea
-With the help of Earwen and Finarfin, Aicarosse managed to stabilize the living conditions of his people, and the Teleri managed to get back on their feet.
-He had left his love for sailing and adventuring of the sea and became one of the most outstanding and trusted leaders.
-He decided to be referred to as Aicarosse, rarely allowing anyone but close friends and family to refer to him as Alassindo.
-He was politically talented and cunning when it came to business. He was sometimes even a bit cold when the  Noldor were involved. However, he regained his kind nature and never judged anyone on appearance or background.
-But even though all seemed well. Aicarosse never truly healed from the devastating act Noldor inflicted upon him and his people, and he still held bitterness in his heart.
-His relationship with the house of Finarfin was strained, but when he heard about the return of Finarfin’s children, he decided to welcome them back.
-He was saddened to hear Aegnor would not return from Mandos. Angrod explained that Aegnor had fallen in love with a human maiden he couldn’t be with, so he would not return till the end of the world.
-That’s when Aicarosse became curious about the secondborns of the Illuvatar and would listen to the stories Angrod and Finrod shared with him about the Edain.
-The Edain fascinated Aicarosse, but since he had a responsibility to his people and Aman, he pushed his wishes to meet a human back until one day, a human washed up on the shores of Aman despite the impossible.

Your favorite questions for your favorite character? (for the character ask game)
anon you've given me the green light to dump my crackiest headcanon about finrod yet
A childhood headcanon
The reason Finrod was released from Mandos so quick is because he uh. Died already. Multiple times
Look, death wasn't a thing unheard of in Valinor, alright? Someone would fall from the tree. Someone would drown. Someone would overwork themselves and choke on carbon monoxide while in forge. It wasn't common, but it wasn't unheard of.
But Finrod, he, uh. Did that for scientific purposes.
To clarify he'd be a human equivalent of, say... 12? 13? so he'd be pretty reckless and hot-headed? One day he just wanted to know if he can jump from that very high and dangerous cliff into the water. Turned out he couldn't, not really
Namo's reaction was "sorry you're like thousand years too early". He gave him a cookie and sent back.
... Finrod showed up again after 2 months (in his defence, it was a very nice cookie...)
