It’s been a little bit since I’ve posted anything. The last couple weeks have been really rough. Last Wednesday I started cycle 9, round 1, my overall 17th chemo infusion, and it kicked my ass so much that I woke up in a whole new year 😂. I started getting a fever on Friday and basically went to bed and woke up at some point on Monday feeling a bit better, and then felt a lot better yesterday, just in time for another round of chemo today. It’s hard to spend the days between chemo feeling so crummy and missing out on so much to finally start feeling normal just in time for another round. Today was round 2 of cycle 19 and my 18th overall chemo infusion. I’m really hoping this one doesn’t hit as hard as the last one, but honestly, it probably will. This is hard treatment and, unfortunately, I have a lot of things going against me in this fight. But what I focus on is that the chemo is working, the cancer isn’t spreading, and my body is tolerating it well enough to keep on going. My only plan for this year is to live and enjoy life as much as I can because that’s all I have control over right now, even that is somewhat controlled by cancer’s side effects, but I’m excited for what I have planned so far for this new year and hope to have some more energy for art posts soon! Today was such a great day and I’m so thankful for so many things. I’m thankful that I was able to spend time with family and felt pretty good today for the first time in weeks. Being with family really helped. I’m thankful for each day I wake up, my amazing team of doctors and nurses that are helping me get through this third and unfortunate cancer journey. Most of all, I’m thankful for everyone in my life who makes me feel loved and special. Last night I worried I would miss family time today due to a fever, and I’ve missed plenty of holidays due to cancer in the past and I didn’t want to repeat that again, and I’m so happy it worked out! I do wish I would have kept my original plan and spent the next couple days with my wonderfully wacky twin, but I was too worried about the fever I had last night and that it would come back, but at least I’ll see her on Saturday still. I hope you all had a wonderful day full of things to be thankful for, but I also know that holidays can be hard for some. Day 11 Inktober - I know, it’s day 25, but at this point I’m just having fun doing the different prompts when I am feeling up for it and have time and energy. There is nothing wrong with taking your time. 😊 For this prompt I decided to combine #Inkwood prompt “Moon” with #artsnacksink prompt “Rose” . I liked my pencil shading in the moon more since inking the moon got a little crazy with my dog demanding my attention, but I love how the roses turned out. Today was round one of cycle #7 and my overall 12th round of chemotherapy to fight this non-curable, stage 4, metastatic pancreatic cancer. Due to increased neuropathy (numbness and tingling in my hands and feet) the doctors reduced the Abraxine dosage by half to see if that improves the neuropathy. The numbness and tingling in my fingers has been annoying mostly because it’s been keeping me from being able to hold a pen, pencil, paintbrush, or anything, with out dropping it. It is also hard to control it since sometimes there’s no feeling in my fingers, or because the tingling is kind of painful since it feels like little pinpricks when something touches my skin. Im hopeful that reducing the dosage helps, but it also makes me nervous to reduce a drug that is helping to keep the cancer from spreading or growing. But I trust my doctors since they are amazing and if we need to slowly increase the dose back up, then we will. We also are trying some new pain management hoping to get the pain more under control for longer periods since that has been an issue the last week. Hopefully post chemo is good this week so I can enjoy the very eventful weekend and then that next week chemo goes session also goes well so I can enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends! Also, isn’t my blanket amazing?! Here’s my #Inktober2022 setup as well as a few #inktober pieces that I haven’t shared yet. It’s not as crazy as past years since I really reduced the materials I was using this year to help challenge myself and haven’t spent a lot of time at my desk. I was going to use all the supplies from my first ever @artsnacks Inktober box, but life had another plan. I haven’t had a whole lot of energy and chemo fevers make things harder to stay on top of things so I’ve just been doing my best at getting drawings done when I can and most of them have been done on the road, or in the hospital until recently. I’m hoping to be able to use this setup for a little bit, but in all honesty, it will probably move to my bed. Lol. But I can’t wait for my week off chemo to hopefully have more energy to get more drawings done and eventually use more supplies from my #artsnacks boxes! Happy #inktober2022 @artsnacks day 1 prompt “match”. I really narrowed down my supplies for this one and just used my Ohuhu fine liners and the Faber Castell Pitt pens from artsnacks Inktober box. The first two days of October have me traveling and busy so I only brought a few supplies with me and I really love these Faber Castell pens! I might just stick with these supplies because they were so much fun and different for me to use, but we shall see. I do want to incorporate the Liquitex acrylic ink in turquoise that I also got from the Inktober box so I may add that as background color. We shall see! What a great surprise to a rough week. Someone amazing sent me some fun mail, an #artsnacks box. I LOVE artsnacks but had to cancel my subscription because cancer is expensive and I have a couple fun bucket list type trips coming up, so this was such an amazing gift to receive. . Yesterday was supposed to be chemo day but due to low blood counts it had to be postponed to next week if my counts go back up. The downside of this is that I will then have chemo right before heading out on a road trip with some friends, which makes me nervous. Tomorrow I start my fourth chemo cycle. Each cycle is three weeks; two weeks of chemo and one one week off. However, this will only be my sixth infusion instead of my eighth because two cycles had to only be one week of chemo due to covid exposure and fun vacations. Since I have unlimited amounts of chemo, missing a round here and there won’t hurt, which is great because I have a lot of life to enjoy still. I’m super excited for a couple trips I have coming up in September and I can’t wait to share them with you all as well. .
