When did you come up with the concept of Dawn?? Did you have different ideas of a charlastor fanchild before her?

And I think I should give some insight about some of the meta context for Dawn to anyone who wasn't there for it before we go in-depth with my design choices lmfao

I received an ask about what I think a charlastor fankid would look like back in march and was basically all "yeahhh nooo I don't care about fankids so it's unlikely I'll dabble in that concept, at least I don't currently have plans for it" and it's true! I genuinely don't normally enjoy fankid stories (I have severe tokophobia and too many of these types of stories include pregnancy as a thoroughly explored topic)

However...

I ended up intrigued by the idea of the challenge that combining two characters into a completely new character presented anyways, so I ended up trying my hand at designing one after all.

This meant that when I sat down to design her, I had genuinely no prior ideas, since I didn't really think about the concept before!

I have however seen other people's fankids floating around in the past, so I had a bit of an idea of what other people designed theirs like.

And this is by no means an insult to any of them and their lovely work, but I just didn't really vibe with a lot of them, since many just kind of amount to looking like recolors of one or the other character with maybe bonus deer ears and antlers - and that works fine!!! It's a very servicable strategy!!! I just personally wanted to not fall into that same vein with my design since I personally don't vibe with that approach much, so I actually tried really hard to make Dawn look like her own character while also giving her a balanced mix of visual cues from both of her parents :'D

in-depth elaboration on my design choices under the cut! ⬇️

I for example looked at Alastor's and Charlie's ears (at least how I draw them in my art) and thus gave her ears that looked like a mix between both - more animalistic, like Alastor's, with similar coloring (except inverted), but placed on her head more like Charlie's. I also wanted it to vaguely look like goat ears when at a resting/lower position like this and more like deer ears when perked up.

Her hair is also cross between both - colors are from both, the fringe is a mix of both (in shape and how it sits on her head and around her face more like Alastor, in terms of texture and length more like Charlie).

She has a lot of Alastor's facial features in her, though her chin is a bit more rounded, her nose smaller and her mouth a bit more like Charlie's as well.

Even her colors are a more or less even combination of both characters! Here's my color palettes for all three of them and which colors I doubled from who:

I should also note that I had her adult design down first before I even started drawing her as a kid, though I think that actually added a lot to making her feel more realistic surprisingly enough?

Since I already had her key features down, that left me with a lot of room to toy around with other design aspects, and somehow kid-ifying an adult character is much more intuitive to me than designing an adult version of a kid character :o

I don't have a linear timeline order or something to any of my posts about her, but from left to right in this array of drawings I've made of her as a child her age ranges from a few months old to like? 8-9-ish?

There's no fixed outfit for her as a kid, though her adult design does feature one more specific outfit:

I wanted her clothes to reflect that she looks up to her parents quite a lot, so I gave her somewhat old fashioned looking pinstriped dress pants - the colors are taken from Alastor's pants, though inverted with added pinstripes for flavor - and once I sketched out the pockets I knew I wanted them to faintly remind of the inside of an apple, so I added white and yellow to it :D

Her blouse is meant to be a bit more flowy - less restricting than Charlie's blazer, but equally elegant.

And because her design is already red-heavy enough, I balanced it out with making the shirt dark, the shoes black/white and the bow around her neck yellow!

I think that's about everything I can say about my thought process behind her design haha

SPEAKING of loopyarts ty for allowing me to take inspo for nijis kids raid suit fit!! i really liked the softer yellow and the thicker lightning bolts on his pants you gave him so tysm for letting me yoink it <3

uh uhh individual pieces and also design/character rants under the cut bc. i wanna.

RAID SUIT RAMBLING TIME bc i spent the most time on those. also you might be asking 'why is only their hair rendered in those pieces?' well the answer is because i am Lazy. moving on . (/HJHJ i AM lazy but also rendering it further would mess up the colors and i didn't wanna do that lmao. carrying on..)

Ichiji's daughter i am so SO proud of her fit. i did not look up a reference or even inspo ideas at all, that all came from the ole noggin baybeee. anyways she is obviously based off a magical girl(s) fit bc she wants and DESERVES to be. also since Reiju doesn't have any kids of her own (based wine aunt) i also decided to let Little Red have some of her motifs instead of just purely Ichiji's!! primarily the 66 on her pants but also all the pink on her instead of just red :) and obviously she has her dads number and while she DOES have a (white? bc like daddy shes a special little princess /aff) cape i didn't include it here bc it looked reallly bad lmao. but she does have one tucked into the bow probably!! there she is, Sparkling Red Neo!!! (get it.. sparkling instead of sparking... bc magical girl.... im funny i think.) onto Little Ocean Boy

OKAY LET ME TALK ABOUT THE MOST MINISCULE YET MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL TO ME AND ME ALONE FIRST. that being the symbol on the brats belt. it was actually inspired/based off of this post which really stuck with me with me after reading it which i later realized was bc the "that something has been completely reversed" REMINDED ME OF THIS POST OF YOURS. i don't think im especially good at theory crafting but. idk i think there could be Something about how after judge came and turned germa into mercenaries their symbol turned from what once symbolized 'purity' into the skull of war mongers and then BACK to purity after 0124 get germa on the right path... poetry or smthn. ANYWAYS yah shoe shiners got a pretty basic fit bc like i said in the og ask, hes a sora warrior of the sea fan, once he saw the raidsuits irl methinks he'd want to stay pretty close to the og design. HOWEVER he refuses to drop the hat (much to Niji's dismay) and i came up with a reason besides 'its one piece and therefore there's GOTTA be a kid with a weird hat that they're attached to': and that is the fact that it hides his eyebrows. Little Red has the curly brows, all of Yonji's cabbage patch does too, and the brats the only one without. even if literally no one else notices or cares, he wants to hide the fact that he doesn't have em because it Separates him. and he doesn't want that. at all. he really, Really wants to be a part of this family (oh no i made it. angsty). ANYWAYS UHH YAYYY HE HAS A TWO ON HIS HAT (that he sewed on himself which is why i made sure you can see the stitch-lines) BC NIJIS HIS DAD WAHOO YIPPEE :D:D:D Dengeki Blue Neo: little shoe shiner edition!!

I have two nuzi fankids in a happier au of mine (Cure au in its later stages); an older brother named Kayden (N didn't want Khan to be fully left out of it, but skirted the name line just enough for Uzi not to quite notice) and a younger sister who's full name is Beretta (yes after the gun) but is also Bree for short. Unfortunately I don't have ref sheets (cannot draw for shit) but Kayden shares N's MD model and some of the hair too (semi-curls up in the front) with mostly silver coloration though some little purple highlights at the ends like frosted tips. He does share most of his dad's quirks like his enthusiasm, can do attitude, and mostly friendly persona; he does however carry some of his mom's traits too such as craftiness, some edge when angered, and being far smarter than he lets on. Even in his smaller kid model Kayden does have access to his wings and tail though his tail doesn't initially have a stinger, however Uzi made a failsafe program where if he got too stressed or experienced pain then it would form to defend himself. (I don't quite know his light color, I think he has white colored lights?) Beretta is a near clone of her mom, a little lilac colored punk who will bite anybody that makes her mad (besides her brother, though she makes most of their little fights go 50/50 from her aggression alone). She has a short fuse, loves listening to music and drawing whatever she pleases for herself, friends, or family alike. She's a firecracker in a barrel who will very quickly make things she isn't supposed to with how quick she learns and how eager she is to make anything her mind makes up when bored, but though she does harbor a softer side reserved only for those she doesn't feel insecure around (family and very close friends) and shares some traits from her dad like a shared love of dogs (Side note, Uzi made one for them! His name is Copper). Bree initially looks like a normal WD at first but she has many features her mom made just in case, including having a slightly venomous bite that makes limb paralysis occur via a virus when stressed/mad (yes this has backfired at times). In later models Uzi has designed wings similar to DD wings (shorter wings for speed like a falcon compared to the soaring of DDs) and a tail to boot juuust in case anybody gets any ideas of messing with the kids of the couple that killed the AS. There's a lot more I could share here but I don't wanna take up too much stuff. On a funny side note for Beretta she could literally be the baby in the "Baby With A Gun" skit with how often she goes looking around and grabs things she shouldn't, N learned this the hard way and Uzi had to rush home from something after getting a call about Beretta finding her railgun. Hope you had fun reading this :)

💡: if your child is adopted, tell us a bit about how you came across them! how did you and your f/o know they were the one?

heph is kyi and boba's first child and their only foundling! she's a little, twi'lek girl they found on tatooine. she was stealing from vendors and trying to beat up anyone who chased her, so the daimyo had to check it out :/

they were originally going to find another home for her, but din's influence on them urged them to adopt her!! plus it didn't feel right to leave a female twi'lek on her own knowing that they're so sexualized.

🤲: how did your child react when they met you and your f/o's friends? are they shy?

ikka is terrified. he loves his mommy and daddy so he treats everyone else as a hostile. fennec? he screams. din? he screams louder. shiny man is not to be trusted.

heph, though, loves them. she constantly wants to duel din and kicks the shit out of his armor. she's also been trying to get fennec to teach her how to do parkour, but who would teach a nine year old how to parkour???

🪁: does your child enjoy learning about their parents' hobbies, or do they prefer to find their own?

ikka is a little too young for hobbies. his only interests include sitting with boba on the throne and being held by his parents.

heph loves being a mandalorian. when she's out playing with other kids, she'll take "bounties.". some guy took your jerky yesterday? heph will beat him up if you give her some rock candy. someone's bullying you? she can scare him into leaving you alone for a jug of water.

🌈: if applicable, who (from your f/o's source) would you make your child's godparents? who (out of your friends) would you make their godparents?

i know its obvious but din and fennec <3 if they had to be split up, ikka would go with fennec and heph with din. heph might be mad about leaving ikka, though.

The results of your mpreg poll was disappointing and sadly not unexpected. I had a feeling the results would reflect how the fandom usually is about Stolas. All attention on him, obviously he's the only one who gets to be preg... it just sucks for Blitzo. Where's the love for Blitzpreg? Hell, where's the love for trans Blitzo? I guess there are more Blitzpreg fics because there's more of a story to tell? But it's strange that there's no art to be found, almost seems to be due to peer pressure?

Also tfw I draw my Stolitz fanchild OC and people immediately assume they came from an egg like the others, because obviously only Stolas could have given birth to them? No?? My fanchild is the result of Blitzpreg, thank you very much. I feel odd about my OC being rounded up with the other fankids under the banner "Stolas's many eggs" because mine didn't come from an egg. I guess I'm taken aback by the automatic assumption. Do I really need to make it clear that I like Blitzpreg?

(These came in one right after the other so I'm pretty sure they're connected, putting my response under the cut bc of some salting 🧂)

I haven't been included in any of those roundups, but I'm not being followed by most of those people, so it's not like it's a slight against me or anything. I can definitely see how that would be frustrating, though, (if anybody did it with Stella I'd be pretty damn annoyed considering her being Blitzo's is kind of the whole point of my fic) and having everyone automatically group it into just eggs from just Stolas, I assume mostly because of Dani is... frustrating, yeah. (I'm not particularly a fan of Dani and have had her muted for something like a year now. This last week has been a very mixed bag of 'I'm glad people are having fun, but ughhhh.') There are other options- even if it wasn't Stolas, both Blitzo and magic are options if it's their bio kid. Magic took a pretty decent second place, after all.

I've puzzled over 'why are there a bunch of fics but I never see it outside of said fics/ao3' a lot- from what I dug up from the older years of the IZ fandom (and this wasn't extensive, by any means- I'm sure plenty of it was lost on old sites) there was a similar divide with Zim/Dib preg content, with Zim getting more fics and Dib getting more art. I think in both HB and IZ, 'there's more of a story to the one that gets the fics' is probably at least part of it, but it was a lot more... idk, even with Zim. Like, I still saw Zim art, and one of the biggest fics had Dib instead, (thanks Zadr Orange, for being incredibly OOC but also helping make me Like This) it was just the balance was slightly tilted towards one of them each way. Here, the fics are roughly 2:1 for Blitzo (although that may change in the coming weeks) but the actual fankids/art tilt way more heavily to Stolas.

I genuinely like the headcanon of trans Blitzo, (and wonder a bit why intersex Fizz is a thing but not any of the other main characters?) and y'all know I like to think of imp sex as a lot looser than it is for humans (and for humans, it's already a whole spectrum!). Plus, having to stick with cloaca 'because he's a bird' when he's a humanoid demon, anything would make sense, and a cloaca isn't actually a pussy, my dude... it's not something that should have really been argued as hard as it was. Sure, transphobic shitheads can choke and I have zero problems with it as a general headcanon/idea, but I've seen people who were told they needed to change their art because they drew Stolas with a dick because they weren't on twitter during the two days the Discourse was raging, like that's not inappropriate in itself.

Anyway. That was kinda off topic. If you want to shoot me a dm or something I'm generally free to chat, I just usually don't want to ruin anybody's fun so I just try and boost up mine and Emmie's Blitzo stuff more, and getting to salt a little was kind of cathartic.

What is the birth order? which sibling do each of them like the most? Are there any sibling rivalries? Who's each one's birth parents (sorry if this question is offensive, i realize all 4 are their parents, but i'm curious who inherited what from whom)

and lastly do they have nicknames? :D

asdfhaksk Thank you for the ask! I only didn't Really specify some of these things since they're included in stuff on my ao3 and I worry about boring people by being repetitive, but I'm So Happy to talk about them.

But uh. I also can't shut up, so here's another cut. (Extremely long, you have been warned)

So. Lorenz and Hilda have been married for 7 years by the time they start becoming romantically entangled with Fae and Claude (then married for some months, nearly a year). Hilda and Lorenz already have Halvard (the eldest) (nickname Hal) and Lorencia (nickname Lori) by then. Fae and Claude have their twins next, Nader and Geralt.

I debated for a long time after this about whether the next child I wrote would have Claude and Hilda as bio parents. At the time, I was still relatively alone in polyshipping in this fandom, and I was too afraid to follow through. I was picturing what people would say in-universe and to me specifically when I was already liberally using the block button for other nonsense; but there's someone who ships byleth x claude x lorenz x hilda making art in the Lorenz zine of them and all their fankids and it's SO FUCKING CUTE. I don't regret my family interpretations, but I am envious that they have that.

Anyway! After the twins, Fae and Claude conceive again, Sadaf, and as I've given Fae the capability to tell relatively early if they're pregnant (Byleth / My Unit having no heartbeat. I've written Fae as being shocked and Aware when suddenly they have one), when Fae and Claude tell Lorenz and Hilda, they readily conspire to have another child, to bring their families closer together, assuming having children so close in age would have some effect on this, similar milestones and just the means and desire for this sort of love. Also, I just picture Lorenz as the sort of only child who wants a larger family. So that's Baldovin (bullied with the nickname Baldy, until Sadaf starts calling him Vinnie).

Ten years younger than Fae and Claude's twins, they conceive Simon. He's unplanned, and Fae's 46 by then. He's a little sickly as a child. Spinal problems through life. And the only one of the kids in post-canon who grows up with four parents. When he's 11 years old Halvard is 27, and taking over as head of house Gloucester so that Lorenz is being (forcibly, but he's fine) retired to the palace in Derdriu as Advisor to the Crown; Hilda's held a title at the court in Derdriu for far longer than this though, because in her and Lorenz's paired ending it talks about her setting up trade schools? Because of her crafting? But I like her illustrating Seteth's children books and being Aware of what Cyril went through and instead name her as Minister of Children and Youth Services, and having helped establish something like a school board; which is hilarious that we all want something like this — smiled BIG about this part of your big bang piece for Yuri.

All together the kids look like:

Halvard is about 3 years older than Lorencia.

Lorencia is about 3 years older than the twins.

The twins are about 2 years older than Sadaf.

Sadaf is about 2 months older than Baldovin.

Baldovin is about 7 years older than Simon.

Three bullet points in this fic read:

When Halvard was twelve, he accidentally caught a glance of a stolen kiss between Claude and his father. When he approached him on it, Lorenz was at the same time grateful and resentful that he was alone to have to try and have this conversation with his son. He did a surprisingly good job of it. A few months later, Halvard approached the monarchs and his parents to say they should be less subtle about it. They crowded in on each other's space far more in the company of their children afterwards.

It’s not one conversation that the ot4 has with any of their children afterwards which attempts to explain the nature of their relationship, but rather several conversations over the course of their lives. By the time Simon is an adult, however, it’s barely even a conversation. He sort of has to come into himself raised by four parents, and the sight is no longer striking to the royal attendants or the people of Omoya.

There have been rumors about the Monarchs and their indiscretion and perceived promiscuity since before the birth of Sadaf. They never figured out how to address them, but when Lorenz and Hilda eventually moved into the palace in Derdriu, they finally took Halvard's advice, practically daring anyone to bring attention to the affection they shared (just casual pda, like hand holding, a chaste kiss goodbye, etc.).

Also uhhhhhhhhh Omoya is the name I gave to the allied lands of Fodlan and Almyra (and technically Brigid who joined their whole Thing like 13 years after the initial political mess).

Halvard is a little too old for rivalries with his younger siblings, so he tells himself; his time at the academy would have been Before them. I actually picture him having a rivalry with Ashe and Caspar's daughter, Keegan.

Lorencia would have been riddled with anxiety about going to the Academy, but by the time the twins are going at age 17, she's encouraged to join them. Nader and Geralt are more "partners in crime" than rivals, but their relationship would go through rough patches of aging and differences at the Academy, and Lorencia being more prepared than she thought she was would frustrate Nader who'd have a harder time with the studies that she'd excel at.

Sadaf and Vinnie are friends — they're siblings — who stand up for each other and goad each other on. And Vinnie finds a rivalry at their time at the Academy in Sylvain and Felix's adopted daughter, Elspeth.

Simon holds himself to too high of standards, being so much younger than the people he loves and looks up to. He wants to be Ready and Capable and is eager to prove himself. He grows out of it.

I'm not sure what you mean when you ask who has favorites. There are certainly siblings they get along more strongly with: the twins, Sadaf and Vinnie, Lorencia and Simon, Halvard and Lorencia. But I wouldn't say that any of them like one more than the other, either between them or from the perspective of their parents. aksdfkas

Also I didn't know where to fit this in there but like the rest of my oc's, my ot4 kids are bi unless stated otherwise: Geralt is a gay he/they.

Have some more kids from their setting. (I have given these kids far less thought. They don't have siblings, you just get to see a young and then Academy-age version of themselves.)

Keegan is Ashe and trans Caspar's daughter. She's a menace and keeps Halvard on his toes during their time at the Academy. Halvard is not as sheltered as Lorenz was, but he's still a little proper for Keegan's taste.

Dimitri is alive and well though the Kingdom has been dissolved and believes him to be deceased. He married Marianne under an assumed last name, and this is their son Blythe. He is polite and awkward and is at the Academy at the same time as Lorencia, Nader and Geralt.

Fernan is Mercedes and Dedue's son (t4t powercouple). He's soft spoken with a big smile and a bigger heart. He's also at the academy at the same time as Lorencia, Nader and Geralt. He and Geralt can have a little romance, as a treat.

Elspeth is Sylvain and trans Felix's adopted daughter and goes to the Academy at the same time as Sadaf and Vinnie. I figured between Sylvain, Miklan, Annette and Gilbert, red hair was a fair choice for a Faerghan. She's a Fraldarius (and in line to be a duchess). Because of recurring, I feel like this says a lot about her. asdkfjhgasdjkhfg
