chapter seven: jobs

"thank you everyone for coming." jade stated as the many elder gems walked into the planning room, euclase already by jade's side as everyone either stood or sat down.

"this better be important to drag me away from my research." alexandrite stated slightly annoyed. "aw c'mon lexi a little interaction never hurt no one." yellow diamond waved off as they laid on the wall, alex giving them a glare. "it's alex and watch your step yellow or i'll give your usual sleeping spot in my room to someone else."

"ehhh so mean lexi~."

"alex!!"

"order please!" jade exclaimed, getting everyone's attention. "now, I've decided to call everyone in to discuss the newest gem we have now. with their age and fragility getting a job for them is something i feel like we should discuss."

sphene looked up confused. "doesn't sensei give us our jobs?"

"well yes, but i felt like maybe we should discuss this beforehand to be ready for whatever job sensei gives them due to their fragility and age." jade stated. "their over five hundred years old which despite being young their still going to be having harder times learning certain job techniques, and fragility isn't going to make it much easier. not to mention how naïve they are for the most part. so i just wanted to make this meeting to prepare ourselves and what jobs we personally think would work best for them."

the rest of the gems gave looks but slowly nodded and mumbled agreements. "so," jade stated. "lets brainstorm the positives and negatives of them working these jobs."

"definitely not fit for a fighter." everyone looked to yellow shocked a bit at their statement. "their too naïve, teaching them to fight could take longer, their phos levels of hardness and easily crack. put them out on the battlefield, they would quickly be gone as quickly as they came here." the yellow gem looked to the others who were surprised. "...hey you wanted answers, sides I'm not wrong am i?"

"n-no just," jade looked around before continuing with their sentence. "we just didn't expect such brutal honesty from you. but then again you've been fighting the longest so it probably makes sense for them not to fight with all the pointers you gave."

"would lookout count aswell?" sphene asked as they played with their braid, yellow humming. "we haven't seen how fast they can run, but lookouts have as much possibility of being caught as fighters so maybe." yellow stated, euclase marking off scratching noises from their board. "so fighter and lookout are definitely ones we agree the new one cannot do, agreed?" euclase asked, everyone nodding in reply.

"I'd also like to say i can't see them performing repairments of any kind either." rutile stated, gaining a playful look from yellow. "you just don't want them tampering with padpa don't you~?" rutile glared. "shush up you old hack."

jade sighed as rutile started running around the room with yellow in tow running after them. "can we PLEASE stay professional here?!" they exclaimed, rutile hiding behind a confused sphene while yellow held a chair above their head ready to smash it towards the doctor as both looked at jade, who sighed again. "okay lets just agree no doctor roll and move on alright?" they all looked and nodded in agreement as euclase crossed off another option on their list.

"hmmm, how bout paper maker?" sphene asked, looking at peridot who looked back at sphene with an uncertain look. "w-well, i mean, i guess it'd be nice but their fragility might make it a bit hard if we think about how phos did so well with it eheh."

"you just don't want people seeing you roll around in paper like a freak." alexandrite stated gaining a pouted glare from peri. "oh yeah and you got any bright ideas lunarian weirdo?"

"just put down a maybe for paper maker." jade whispered to euclase, who nodded and did just that. "okay guys can we just-" jade paused as peridot and alexandrite held eachothers fists in a mid fight looking at them confused. "...what is this fighting gem day?"

"actually that won't be happening for another week or two." euclase stated, jade giving an unamused look as they pinched the bridge of their nose. "okay, moving on now."

"what bout builder eh sphene?" peri asked, looking at sphene who had a similar uncertain look. "hmmm the tools are a bit heavy though, I'd rather not let them get cracked so easily." some of the others looked but slowly agreed. "alright," jade stated. "how about lunarian research alex?"

alex perked up. "oh nonononono." they stated. "i have my own organization skills and ways of doing it. besides i get my knowledge from the fighters so it wouldn't be much help."

they all gave looks questioning them but jade nodded to euclase and the gem crossed it off the list. "okay, how about fashion designer? red beryl?"

"probably not, they don't have a good grasp on fashion yet and i have no clue how good their stitching, fashion sense, accessorizing-"

"so no?"

"yeah maybe not."

jade sighed. "okay, maybe library work?"

alex raised a brow. "should we ask ghost bout that though?"

"good point. but it seems like an easy job for them. this is just assumptions anyways." they all look but agree as euc put a checkpoint to librarian. "well i dunno if they'd be good at strategy with their naivety that might take a while. any other ideas?" everyone hummed in thought.

"they do like that slug of theirs." sphene commented, everyone looking at them. "maybe they'd be good with the jellyfish?"

"hmmm." jade hummed. "that could be a good option but we all kinda do that sometimes don't we? i guess we could put that down. anything else?"

everyone tapped out with replies of 'not really' and 'no's. "well, i guess this has been settled then. we should prepare for when sensei gives them one and hope it goes well. I'd like to show sensei these options to help with that so thank you all for your time." jade finished, everyone then walking out, leaving jade and euclase alone.

"so jade," euc started. "are you sure that's all you wanted from this intervention?" jade gave a look. "is it really obvious?" euc giggled. "i haven't been alive this long to not know when your worried."

jade sighed. "i just, somethings not adding up about them, and I'm just unsure how to go about this i suppose." euclase nodded. "your concerned on what their hiding? or who they are?"

"i guess yeah." jade mumbled, crossing their arms. "i just hope it's just my mind overthinking."

"it probably is hehe."

"yeah laugh at me why don't ya?" jade teased as they took the report from euc's outstretched hand holding it. "thanks for helping though euc."

"of course anytime. you should really sleep though."

"hehe yeah i should, after i give this to sensei." euc rolled their eyes at them.

Hi! Would you happen to know of any witchy things to do to get you in the mood for spring (I live in the southern hemisphere)? Spells, decorations, potions, etc. Thank you for your time!

I don’t really cast any spells but I would try and find something related to Spring and keep it in your room or altar if you have one!

I would suggest looking for renewal, growth, prosperity, new beginning, cleansing/purification and protection spells if you want to cast any as well as potions!

Anything green would be a good place to start as green is often associated with new beginnings and growth which is what happens in Spring but also use your own correspondences

Green candles are amazing as a decoration but also good for any renewal spells and growth spells!

Plants (succulents are great for this as they don’t need a lot of attention and are beautiful!) or even a pot with a few seeds inside so you can nurture its growth during the spring! I personally would get Daffodils, Star-Of-Bethlehem or Hyacinth since they are beautiful early bloomers and are often associated with Spring but choose which one you want! If you don’t want real flowers, fake flowers are another beautiful alternative and they last all year long. :D

Make. Your. Own. Flowers. Out. Of. Recycled. Paper. I’m not kidding. Use those fliers that get posted through your door and make flowers out of them. I have made tons at home and use them as decor! Once I find them I’ll post a picture. :)

Green crystals placed around your room or home such as Peridot, Green Aventurine, Malachite, etc. Gem water would be awesome too, just as long as you don’t consume the water afterwards. Some crystals react with water and might not be good for the body afterwards. If you want to consume gem water though, don’t let the crystal come into contact with the water and keep it beside the water instead.

Teaaaa! If you drink tea, look into different tea blends for cleansing. Green tea (hehe) is great for your body as it helps with the body’s metabolism and keeps it in line. Herbal teas are amazing too! Just always remember to look into the different health warnings and if they can mess up any medication you are on or if you are pregnant/nursing (mugwort is a bad one for this so be careful!)
