The Artistic Odyssey of Ana Mercedes Hoyos:
Ana Mercedes Hoyos was born in Bogota, Colombia, in 1942. Her artistic path began as an artist at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Over time, she developed her talents across a variety of mediums. However, lithography emerged as an integral and lasting part of her art identity. Litografia Ana Mercedes Hoyos to combine her Colombian tradition with modern influences, resulting in a distinct style that audiences worldwide admire.
Techniques in Lithography:
Lithography is a printing method based on water repulsion and oil that creates an image on a flat stone surface. Ana Mercedes Hoyos embraced this method and used it as an art canvas to express her vibrant imagination. The process starts with drawing directly onto the stone using oily materials such as crayons and tusche. Rocks are then treated using a mix of acid and gum Arabic to create areas that draw ink and keep water away. After the stone has been inked, the image gets transferred to paper, resulting in a photo that faithfully replicates the artist's vision.
Hoyos's mastery of the art of lithography is in her ability to make the most of the subtleties of the medium and create prints that aren't just replicas; they are unique representations of her vision. Her proficiency in how lithography works permits her to play with a wide variety of possibilities in visuals, including delicate lines and striking textures, bringing her work to life with a style that is both complex and powerful.

Nature and all its shapes are the themes that run through Hoyos Lithographs. Beautiful landscapes, exotic flora, and fauna are brought to life on paper, inviting the viewer to take a trip through the captivating splendor of Colombia. Through her journey through lithography, Hoyos captures the essence of her surroundings, blending images with a feeling of respect for nature.
Innovation and Experimentation:
A passion for exploration and creativity defines Ana Mercedes Hoyos' lithographic journey. While adhering to traditional lithographic techniques, she challenges the norms by incorporating new materials and experimenting with new techniques. The willingness to explore produces prints that aren't just visually stunning but also convey an impression of an evolution of art.
