Y/N knew Bucky was trying to comfort her. His hand, she felt its weight on her shoulder, but any warmth was lost. She heard her heart racing in her ears. It was pounding, practically threatening to tear through her ribcage. And yet all she could focus on was the fact that her ex-husband was only a few feet away, crouched next to his kids and pointing at different fish.
What a dick.
“Y/N?” Finally, Bucky’s voice forced itself through her panic. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her register his voice. Her shoulders visibly relaxed. She blinked, everything about her sluggish in that moment. “Y/N, let’s just go.”
She looked down at Andie, noticing the slight shimmer in the hand clinging to her own. In the dim light, no one else could notice it. But Y/N? She knew her kid. “Come on, Babygirl,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Andie’s beanie. “Let’s go see something else.”
Andie nodded, lip trembling as tears threatened to fall. She never knew what this feeling was, but if she had to describe it, it was like someone sitting on her chest while taking punches to her gut. Everything felt heavy. “I want to go see the sharks,” she mumbled. Her words were lost on Y/N, but Bucky heard her easily.
“Then let’s do it.” Bucky squeezed her hand and pulled her long. His sole mission in that moment was to get Andie and Y/N somewhere they were comfortable. Somewhere they felt safe. As he pulled them along, he tucked Y/N under his arm, feeling how rigid she went just under instinct. He knew it wasn’t because of him, but the action still stung.
“Y/N?”
She paused, looking at Bucky for a moment. Everything in her had hoped that it was Bucky that had said her name. But judging by the look on his face, it wasn’t. Y/N looked down at Andie. Her daughter was watching her intently, fixated on what Y/N would do next. What was the right thing to do in a situation like this? Was there even a right thing?
Sighing softly, what had felt like minutes was truly only a few seconds. She turned around, not surprised that it was just him. It was always just him. Always separating the life he once had and the life he was living.
“Ethan.”
Y/N glanced just past him. His two boys were still fixated on the aquarium. His wife was taking care of them, obviously, but also keeping an eye on her husband. On her. Shifting her gaze back to Ethan, she said, “I would have thought you would ignore us.”
Ethan noticed she wasn’t alone. Bucky was sure of it. He caught the recognition in Ethan’s eyes and seeing this man in front of him made his blood boil. The gears in his arm whirred as he clenched his fist. But his face remained passive. He had to be calm for Andie and Y/N. He had to be prepared for anything Ethan threw their way.
But he wasn’t. There was no way he could be prepared for Ethan to laugh.
He was shaking his head, laughing at the accusation Y/N had thrown his way. “Still as vindictive as ever, huh, Y/N?” He took in her appearance, the sight of him ogling her making Bucky’s skin crawl. “How long has it been?”
She clenched her jaw, her nails digging into her palms as she squeezed as tight as possible. “Five years. That was the last time we saw each other in court.”
“And still you’re so hateful.” He offered a sympathetic smile and Y/N wanted to slap it off his face. “It’s a shame. I would’ve thought raising a kid would make you more forgiving.” He looked at Bucky, the smile on his face shifting to one of pity. “I can only imagine what lies she’s told you, right?”
Bucky was silent, his hand gently pushing Andie behind him. It was as if he hoped that one gesture would be enough to shield her from whatever bullshit kept spilling out of Ethan’s mouth. “I’m a pretty good judge of character.”
Ethan nodded before looking at Y/N. “Well, I just wanted to say hi. You – “ He shrugged. “You look good. How’s Lauren?”
Oh, Bucky wanted to hit him. He wanted to pulverize him. He could even picture it – slamming Ethan’s smug face into the glass, feeding him to the sharks. He didn’t even need his metal hand to kill this asshole. How dare he not even call his own child by her name?
Andie peeked out from around him, finally speaking up. “My name’s Andie.”
Ethan jumped, looking down at the girl. She was tucked into Bucky’s side. To any onlooker, she looked like Bucky’s kid. And for some reason that made Ethan angry. That was his family first. Bucky was just passing through. “Andie, huh?” He smiled at her and, while the sight made Y/N and Bucky sick to their stomach, the slightest hint of affection from her father made Andie feel more at ease. She stepped out from behind Bucky entirely, smiling back. “Well, I look forward to getting to know you. That is,” he glanced at Y/N, hiding the smirk he so desperately wanted to share. “If Y/N will let me.”
Her blood went cold. Of course. Of course he would play the victim card, acting like he wanted a relationship that they both knew he had no interest in. Bucky frowned, glancing at Y/N for confirmation that this was just Ethan being Ethan.
“You really want to spend time with me?” There was so much hope in Andie’s voice and it broke Y/N’s heart to hear. She had hoped Andie would know better, but she was a kid. That was asking far too much.
“Andie, he’s – “ Bucky’s sentence died on his lips when he saw the briefest shake of Y/N’s head. This wasn’t his place. It wasn’t even hers.
“Little Andie, I would love nothing more.” Ethan’s sickeningly sweet smile was practically hypnotizing to the girl, filling her with hope and possibility and the ideas of what memories she could have with her dad.
“Could I – Could I meet them?” Andie pointed to his other family and he looked back.
He sighed softly and shook his head. “Uh…Not right now,” Ethan told Andie. He looked at her, smiled yes, but it didn’t go unnoticed by Y/N and Bucky that he refused to touch her. Everything was an act. “But I’m sure your mom and I can figure out something soon for you guys, yeah?”
Andie was glowing, grinning from ear to ear as she nodded. Any fears she had had when she noticed her father before? They were gone. Out the window and long since forgotten. All she could think about now was the possibility of seeing her dad and getting to know her brothers.
It was a show to give a little girl hope. Only to crush it and make Y/N look like the villain.
“But right now, you need to spend time with your mom and her – “ He looked at Bucky, raising an eyebrow. “Friend?”
Bucky clenched his jaw and Ethan’s smile stretched a little wider when he noticed it. A crack in that tough exterior. He looked back at Andie. “Have fun, okay?” Ethan waved goodbye, nodding to Y/N and Bucky before retreating back to his family. He wrapped an arm around his wife’s waist, already forgetting about the interaction.
But Andie hadn’t. She was staring at them and with the smallest wave of her hand, she whispered, “Bye, Dad.”
And Y/N felt everything in her shatter.
“I think we should get out of here,” she whispered to Bucky.
He turned his attention back to her and wrapped an arm around her, nodding. “Can I take you two back to my place? Cook you some food?”
Y/N was hardly paying attention, replaying what had just happened as if it was a worn VHS tape, willing it to destroy itself. But she wasn’t ready to go back to her apartment. She wasn’t ready to go back to a reality where Andie would be up late, drawing potential memories only to someday be crying and screaming at her, blaming her for everything.
No, she wasn’t ready for the next coming weeks.
“Please,” she murmured, the hand that had been in her jacket now desperately finding his hand. She clung to him, needing to feel grounded. Eyes still fixated on Andie, she told him, “I need to live outside of reality a little longer.”
-.-.-.-
The smell of burgers filled his apartment, wafting through and reminding them of just how hungry they were. Luckily, Andie’s favorite foods were two things: Mac ‘n’ Cheese and burgers. Two things he could easily make. But since burgers took a little longer, he decided on those for the evening. He glanced across the open concept apartment, his eyes landing on Andie. She was currently sitting on his couch with How to Train Your Dragon playing. Apparently, the kid really liked cartoons and there was something about this one that had her hooked.
Bucky had yet to figure out what it was.
“Thanks for this.”
He looked over his shoulder as Y/N came to his side. She leaned against the counter, the smile on her face clearly not reaching her eyes. Keeping his voice down, he asked, “Of course. Do you want to talk about it?”
She chuckled softly, looking down at the cooking meat. “Not really. I wish I could say I was surprised, but when we were in and out of court, he pulled this shit all the time. She was so young then, I thought she’d grow out of that. But…” Bucky followed her gaze, noticing that it was Andie she was so focused on once again. “Some things never really change.”
“He’s going to break her heart, isn’t she?”
Y/N nodded. “And I’ll take the fall for it. But I’m okay with that.” He frowned, the new face making her nudge him. “I am. It’s part of being a parent. I’m supposed to be there to catch her when she falls.”
“But who catches you?”
The question surprised her. She looked at Bucky, searching his face. He couldn’t bring himself to look at her, instead focusing on the burgers, flipping them. How had she managed to have the sweetest Avenger stumble into her life? And not only that, how was she so lucky to get him to stick around? She hopped onto the counter and brought her knee under her chin, wrapping her arms around herself. “I guess…I do.”
Bucky frowned. He set down the spatula and glanced at the little girl, making sure she wasn’t paying attention to them. Turning back to Y/N, he tugged at her calf and dropped her leg. He stepped between them, hands wanting to rest on her thighs but instead choosing the counter. It was cold against his hand, but he didn’t comment. No, instead his attention was fixated on something far more important.
Y/N’s eyes.
“Bucky? What is it?”
“Could I?”
She raised an eyebrow, not quite realizing what he was asking. “Could you what? Finish cooking dinner?”
Bucky smiled, shaking his head. “No.” He took a shaky breath, his stomach churning from nerves as his heart fluttered and palm grew sweaty. “Could I catch you?”
Y/N felt her cheeks heat and was far too sure she was blushing from head to toe. “You – What?”
Bucky smiled ever so slightly, brushing some hair out of her face before his fingertips brushed against her cheek. He kept his voice hushed, fathering as much courage as he could for what he was about to say. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but I genuinely care about you and Andie. And after seeing what happened today? With your ex?” He stepped closer, forehead lightly pressing against hers. He was careful, providing space if she wanted to push him away. But she didn’t. She seemed to crave the intimacy within the moment. “I want to be there for you. Both of you, but if you’re going to be putting Andie first, someone needs to put you first. If you’re okay with it, I would like to be that someone.”
Y/N bit her lip, unable to believe what she was hearing. “You’re an Avenger.”
He breathed a laugh. His warm breath fanned over her face as he asked, “What’s your point?”
“We have two very different lifestyles?” She brought her lip between her teeth, gnawing at it as her nerves started getting the best of her. “I’m a nurse and a single mom. You’re the Winter Soldier and an Avenger. It’s not like we’d run into each other in a coffee shop during normal circumstances.”
“Okay.” He was with her so far.
“The reason we entered each other’s lives was because of Andie. Because you were playing hero. And I – “ I don’t need to fall for someone who plays hero for strangers. She cleared her throat. “Bucky, I like you, it’s just – “
Zzzz

Bucky wanted to throw his phone out the window. He did not want to answer that stupid thing, but it seemed Y/N wouldn’t let him ignore it. She offered him a small, weak smile. It was as if that phone had made her point. Grabbing the phone, she held it out to him. He saw Steve’s face staring back at him and grimaced.
Steve didn’t call unless it was important. Which…meant there was a mission.
One he had to be a part of.
Taking a step back, he took the phone. His pleading eyes met hers, silently asking her to just give him a second. She didn’t say anything, gesturing for him to take the call as she hopped on the floor. Bucky gently grabbed her arm, squeezing it as he answered the phone. He didn’t want to leave her, but he knew he still had responsibilities. He still had a past to make up for. “I’ll be right back,” he promised. As he stepped out of the room, the last thing she heard him say was, “What is it, Steve?”
Y/N chuckled at the annoyed tone in his voice. She turned her attention to the burgers, putting them on a plate and getting them set up. “Come on, Andie, get your food.”
Andie looked up, smiling from ear to ear. She jumped over the back of the couch and ran to the plate waiting for her. Her jaw dropped, staring at it with complete fascination. “It’s as big as my head!”
“Try not to make a mess,” Y/N teased. Andie was still unable to take her eyes away from the burger. It made both of them wonder just how much Bucky thought normal people ate.
As Andie ate her weight in her dinner, Y/N picked at her food. She kept thinking about what Bucky had said. He wanted to be there for her. And everything he was saying and doing screamed that he wanted it in more of a way than just friends. Was that true? Or was she just so out of touch with dating that she thought anything looked flirty?
“Mom?”
Y/N looked up, pulled away from her thoughts once again. Noticing that Andie had somehow managed to already get herself covered in food, she held back her laugh and asked, “What is it?”
“Do you think we’ll see Dad again? Soon? And that I’ll meet my brothers?”
She hesitated, her chest feeling tight as she thought about what the right thing would be to say. “I hope so. I think it’d be awesome if you could have a relationship with them.”
Andie stuff a couple chips in her mouth, asking around the mouthful, “But you always said you decide the visitations, right? So it is up to us in the end.”
Sorta. “I guess you could say it’s like that, Baby girl. But stop talking with your mouth full of food. It’s gross.”
“Blagh!” Andie stuck her tongue out, showing off her food and earning a grimace from Y/N.
“Stop! Now!”
Andie giggled and swallowed her food, going back to eat while Y/N shook her head. She looked around the apartment. Settling in like this? It felt too easy. Too simple. And that wasn’t possible for their situation, right? She was a single mom. She had to look out for a girl who now believed she could have a relationship with her dad. And Bucky? Bucky’s life was a whole other level of stressful and chaotic. Y/N was more than sure she couldn’t keep up with it. The level of stress in her life was always at a constant high and the idea of falling hard for someone like him? Someone who went on missions that put his life in danger? She didn’t need that risk. She didn’t need that stress.
And it was on that thought that Bucky returned to her. Judging by the look on his face, those exact worries she had been thinking about, were now rearing their ugly faces. “You don’t look happy,” she told him, handing him the last plate of food.
“Steve has a mission he wants me to go on. It’ll be him, me, Nat, and Sam.”
“Does that mean it’s Hydra related?”
Bucky looked at her, completely surprised. “How did you – “
“Keep in mind, you guys have been in my kid’s life for a month. I pay attention. And when it’s a mistake Tony makes, it tends to be him, Steve, maybe Natasha and Clint, and Bruce. Thor is rarely around anymore. Natasha and Sam tend to go with Steve on missions where a small, quiet team is a must. And you only get pulled in when your past is at risk nowadays.”
Bucky felt his heart swell with pride. She was paying attention. He knew it was mostly for Andie’s sake, but also he felt that…maybe it was because of him too? “You really were paying attention.”
“Always. I’m a nurse. Little details can be important.”
He smiled at that. “About your question,” he said, taking a sip of water. “Steve didn’t make it sound like that. I think it might have something to do with that Zemo guy. The one who framed me for killing King T’Chaka.” There was silence. It seemed Y/N wasn’t going to say anything, so he continued, “Steve tries to keep me off missions lately because of the time I’ve been spending with you and Andie, but he really wants me on this one.”
Y/N knew she had to understand. It was his job after all. Still, her heart hurt at the thought. “H – How long will you be gone?”
“Steve made it sound like it was short. Maybe a couple days at most.” Bucky watched her. Everything about her screamed that she was worried. With Ethan’s confrontation earlier and his confession, he knew her stress levels were up. She didn’t like new and unexpected. His whole life centered around that. So, he wanted to reassure her, telling her, “I was thinking…when I get back – “
“Let’s not talk about that right now.” Y/N looked up at him and it was then he got to peer into the emotions in her eyes. The ones she refused to let shine anywhere else. Mentally, she wasn’t ready. Not to talk at least.
And Bucky understood needing the right headspace.
“Okay. Then let’s eat. And finish the movie. I leave in the morning and – “
“And I’m sure we’ll be here when you get back.”
Bucky watched her as she went back to eating, his eyes looking for any tells that could possibly give her away. He needed something – hoped for anything. But Y/N was as good with her body language as Natasha or Clint. Guarded and locked up tight. He’d just have to wait.
Patience was a virtue, right?
It looked like they would all be practicing it for the time being. And reality? Reality was coming back far faster than Y/N had hoped for.

Part 3
"Des-pa-ci-to, na na na na na na na na na Burrito, pa ta pa pa ra pa pa na ra Secco, na na na na ta ra ta ta ta ta Procciotto~ Mmm...I love this song".
"Give me a break" Jotaro said, and his prayers were answered because the radio started to get all distorted.
"What the??" Noriko got disappointed and sulked as her song got ruined. Jotaro was smiling to himself from the inside, but the happiness didn't last for long when the car abruptly stopped in the middle of the road.
"The hell??" Mr. Kujo tried to start the engine again and again, but it didn't respond back.
"W-What happened??" Noriko asked him. "Don't know. I need to check the engine".
As soon as he said that sentence, on fat drop of water fell on the window with a thud, and it was soon followed by many and eventually it had started to rain cats and dogs.
"Fan-fucking-tastic" Jotaro remarked sarcastically as he slapped the steering wheel from frustration.
Jotaro noticed how Noriko was silent the whole time. He took a glance at Noriko and found her mumbling something to herself. She then rubs her chin, looks back from her seat and then opens her seatbelt and starts to get off the car.
"Wait, where are you going??" Jotaro took hold of her wrist to stop her. "Checking the engine. Why??". "Let me do that. You stay inside". "No, let me go" she struggles to get her hand out of Jotaro's grasp.
"Fine. Do what you want to" he then lets go of her wrist.
Noriko smiles and opens the door, but it wasn't even budging. She looks at Jotaro who shows her the car keys, which means that she won't be able to get out as he had locked all the doors automatically.
She glares at Jotaro and tries to get the keys from him, but he kept it inside his pant pocket, making it out of reach.
"Ha!! I don't need keys to get out" she smirks. She then goes to the driver's seat and does something down the steering wheel and the door opens with a click.
Now let's ignore the fact that Noriko had her boob pressed on Jotaro's knee when she was unlocking the door, shall we??
"How did you do that??" Jotaro asked her and Noriko just smiles and winks at him.
She then gets off and naturally the rain started to drip intensely on her. But ignoring all the awful wetness, she opens the front of the car and starts rummaging through the car parts, being careful not to disturb the other components.
Jotaro had gotten off too but he had an umbrella with him. He observed how Noriko was concentrating on her work and was not getting distracted by the cold rain.
Her whole attire was wet and Jotaro could see her small figure as her clothes clinged onto her body. He also noticed how the little girl was shivering from the cold, but still she was focused.
Her hair had turn darker due to the water and her hair waves had been straightened up, making her hair look longer.
The only thing which was intact was where her eyes and hands were and how her lips were slightly opened in order to take air in and out and also vibrating a little due to the cold.
However, her bangs were continuously disturbing her as they dropped on her face frequently. She always pulled them back but they kept falling on her face, hiding her vision.
To add some ease to the already struggling lady, Jotaro brushes her hair gently behind her ear.
Noriko looked at the owner of the hand with a slight hint of longing for a second and then continues her work. Jotaro's heart skipped a beat when the girl locked her amethyst eyes with his.
He was now truly in love with her, just like how he fell in love with his highschool sweetheart.
"Oh.....so the battery is dead" Noriko came to the conclusion. "Is that so?? Let me call the service center then" he was about to grab his phone.
"No wait" she stops him. She then looks around and sees a bus stand which was lit up.
"Perfect!!" she exclaimed. She then gets out the battery of the car.
"Do you have the battery charger??" She asks Jotaro. "Yes, I have it in the back". "Get it, quick".
Jotaro gives it to her and she then connects it to the battery. She then bites the other side of the wire's coating so that she could connect it with the bus stand's source.
"Pick the battery up and come with me" she orders him, and Jotaro picks up the battery and follows the girl.
The girl gets up the stand and rummages to find the wires which were connected to the source, and luckily she found it in no time. She then disconnects the wires and the bus stand's light goes off.
She then connects the wires of the charger to the source. It took her a minute, but after she was done, Jotaro was surprised to see that the car battery had started charging now.
Noriko grinned at her work and got off. She then casually goes and sits on the seat of the stand and looks up at the dark rainy sky while humming to herself.
"How do you know all of this??" Jotaro asked her with wonder.
"I worked as a mechanic at one of my part-time jobs, so I know the basics. Also, I want to become a mechanical engineer when I grow up" she told him.
"When I was a kid, I used to have a dream where I make a flying car which would be better than any vehicle which ever existed. It would be like a vision of the future" Noriko told him.
"That's great" Jotaro said. Noriko smiles at him. She then asks him "What about you Jotaro-san?? Why did you became a marine biologist??" Noriko kept her face on her palms.
"It's......a very long story" Jotaro told her. "I'm listening. We have a lot of time anyway. The battery will take only half an hour to charge, and I think Jolyne wouldn't mind us being a bit late" she told him.
"Fine.......I used to have these dreams........where I am standing in front of an aquarium and a plethora of marine species appear in front of my eyes. There were fishes, shrimps, corals and what-not.
But the most intriguing part was how my younger self and my lover were inside there too, and we were in each other's arms as we stared longingly at each other and went deeper and deeper into the waters.
Although the creatures of the dreams were always different in every dream, two things were common in it. One was us and second was how we pressed our lips against each other's as we submerged deep into the vast sea at the end of the dream".
"Wow, now that's very......poetic" Noriko was amazed.
"So was she your wife??" She asked next.
Jotaro shook his head no.
Noriko's eyes widen a bit, she then moved closer to him and asked him with curiosity.
"Who was she then?? Tell me!!" She asked like an excited baby.
"It's a he, Noriko". "A he??" Noriko raised her eyebrows, and Jotaro slowly nodded.
"Y-You mean, you are gay??". "I cannot really say. It was.........something that I had never expected from myself.
When I was of your age, I was not interested in girls as they were all annoying, and I usually got into fights with the boys.
He was a transferred student by the way, and our first time meeting each other was not pleasant at all, but I didn't know that eventually we would become so close to each other that we would be afraid to lose one another, and also that his death would still haunt me" Jotaro started to rub his eyes.
"Wait, he is dead?? What happened to him??" Noriko asked him. "I......He got a very fatal wound which literally passed through his stomach.....And I was not there for him at that time...........And he was only 17.........."
Jotaro's voice cracked at the last sentence as he had started to sob over his lover's memories. He covered his eyes with his hand but the tears weren't stopping at all.
Noriko's heart broke on watching the professor crying like this. She then moved more closer to Jotaro and hugged the man. She then started to rub his shoulder and back as she whispered sweet nothings in his ear to soothe him. Fortunately, Noriko was successful in comforting Jotaro for a bit as he stopped crying.
"I.....I'm sorry. I got a bit carried away" he wiped his eyes. "It's alright......I know how it feels to lose someone dear to you" she admitted.
"And you know what's the worst part?? I can never find peace ever again in my life after his death" Jotaro continued. "What do you mean??" Noriko asked.
"I got married and Jolyne was born. I was hoping to find love once more and have a normal family by my side, but it didn't work well. My profession had distanced me away from my family, and I had began to barely give any time to them.
I am also a target to one of the most dangerous people, and I don't want my family to be one of the targets because of me. That's why I got a divorce from my wife, and Jolyne now has an incomplete family.........".
"Yeah.....she had told me about the divorce. But I didn't know that you had left your wife because you wanted her to be safe"
Noriko then holds his hand and caresses it with her smaller ones.
She then smiles to herself and says "You are a very good person Jotaro-san. There is no way one can call you unjust or crude".
"The time when you offered to come with me to the hostel, I had already got an impression that you cared for me even though it had been only minutes since we met.
And the time when you defended me from that perverted manager, I got to know that you didn't like evil even a single bit, and that you protect weaker people if they are in trouble. Now that's a trait I love in a man" she told him.
Jotaro's cheeks got heated up and he looked away from her. Noriko chuckled as she spoke next.
"Not to sound creepy and all but, if only I was a bit older, I would have loved to marry you" she grinned.
Jotaro's blush worsened. He desperately tried to hide his face by hiding in his hat, but the red girl was smart, as she removed his hat and cupped his face. She then turned his head towards herself and pecked him on his cheek.
"A small thank you, for everything" she said and caressed on of the curls of his black hair. Now Jotaro was helpless, he cannot hide his flustered face now as it was fully exposed to the red lady.
She chuckled at the cute expression of the professor. Their relationship had now evolved from formal to informal from the very time Noriko kissed the man.
Noriko didn't regret it and Jotaro pretty much enjoyed it to the most. Speaking in a nutshell, both of their intimacy just went to the next level.
"Well, I think 30 minutes have passed now. Let's go home" she then lets go of Jotaro and goes to disconnect the battery.
Jotaro touches the cheek where the girl had kissed him. It reminded him of his lover's sneaky kisses which he used to give while he was sleeping or when no one was looking.
He also remembers how he used to hit him in the head for that and it pained the red head for the whole day.
*10 minute time skip, brought to you by Cock-yo-ween*
Both of them had now successfully reached home. They then got off the car, grabbed the dinner and rang the doorbell of the door.
Jolyne was quick to open the door. She then asked "What took you two so long. Do you even realise that it's 11 now??".
"Sorry, we had some problems with the car. The battery had died so we had to charge it" Noriko replied as they both entered the house.
"Alright. And what about the manager?? Did you kick his ass??" Jolyne asked.
"Ummmmm.....About that....."
"I had taken care of him for her".
Noriko looked at Jotaro with a bit astonishment. "Wait, you did?? For me??". "Yes. I wanted to--"
"Jotaro-san!!! Not fair!!" She then punches him in the chest and goes away in the kitchen to keep the food.
Jotaro then facepalms and mumbles "Ugh, give me a break". He literally saved her from harassment, and this is how she repays??
"Jotaro-san~ Huh Dad??" Jolyne was next to tease him. Jotaro blushed and looked away from his daughter.
"I-I just wanted her to drop the formalities with me" he defended. "Oh is that so?? Then what's that on your right cheek??" She asked.
Jotaro touched the area where she was talking about and felt something silky and slippery. He then looked at his hand and found a red substance which smelled like cherries.
"You might be wondering what the hell is this?? Well this is cherry lip gloss, and Noriko is the only one I know who puts it and she was with you the whole time, wasn't she??" She crossed her arms.
Jotaro was busted. What he feared the most has now happened. He braced for the harsh impact and was expecting Jolyne to shout at him, but all he got was his daughter speaking to him in a soft manner while holding his shoulder.
"You love her, don't you??" She asked her father.
Jotaro did not look into her eyes. Though her suspicions were correct, he was afraid to agree with her as he thought that it might lead to certain unfavorable consequences. He would have not given a shit to anyone else but this is his own daughter we are talking about right now.
"Dad, please tell me. I'm not going to judge you or anything" she assured him. He then finally nodded without saying anything else.
Jolyne was silent for a moment, processing everything in her brain. After some seconds, she lightly chuckled to herself.
"Honestly, it's not surprising to me. She really is an attractive individual. Not to mention, she really looks like your lover, uncle Noriaki".
Jotaro shot his eyes up at her face when he heard that name. So she knew it the whole time??
"Dad.....you have gone through a lot and you deserve to be happy. If being with Noriko does the trick then so be it. Although I'm sad that Mom was not enough for you, but it's alright. All uncle Noriaki wanted after his death was you to be happy, so do it at least for him".
"B-But what about--". "Age gap?? Are you really worrying about that?? You are Dr. Kujo!! The big, bad professor who doesn't give a fuck to anyone and won't hesitate to kick bones and break ass" she winked.
The alternation she had done to her sentence seemed to make Jotaro chuckle a bit.
"And also, remember how great-gramps married great-aunt Tomoko when she was way younger than him??".
"Don't compare me to that old man" his said grimly. "Alright, sorry. But you do get my point right?? Tonight, you are going to give it to her hard" she punched his shoulder motivatively.
"Give me what??" Noriko came out of the kitchen to see what was going on.
"O-Oh it's nothing Noriko" she grins innocently at her while keeping her hands behind her.
Noriko shrugs and then calls both of them to have dinner as it has been reheated.
"Oh great. I was starving anyway" Jolyne went to the dining room.
"Jotaro-san, come on". "Yes, coming" and he too joined the girls for supper.
*Time skip till bed time brought to you by the lazy author*
"I'm really sleepy now. It's good that I don't have to wake up early tomorrow and see Anderson's owl face" Jolyne yawned.
Noriko chuckled as she scratched her red head. "But that doesn't mean you are not going to study tomorrow. And do note that I am going to clench you hard".
"Yeah yeah I get you. It's better to get lectured by you instead of that excuse of a teacher".
"Oh come on, he is not that bad". "Oh he is very bad Noriko. Don't even ask me where he comes in my ultimate list of total bitches and assholes".
Both of the girls then laughed happily as they gossipped about school and many other things. Jotaro was happy to see both of them bond with each other.
It reminded him of when Noriaki used to tell him facts about everything he ever spotted on their way.
'Jotaro, did you know that Jaipur is also known as the Pink town??'
'Jotaro, did you know that Singapore is one of the greenest cities??'
'Jotaro, did you know that you have more than 100 million bacteria in our nose??'
Though it pissed him how he always acted like a nerd on a trip, he enjoyed listening to his factual rambling.
In turn, he too used to share some information on marine life he read in magazines and Noriaki listened to him patiently. A few kisses here and there were inevitable which made the session even more interesting.
"Alright then. I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight Noriko" Jolyne then retired in her room after their night conversation was over.
After bidding Jolyne goodnight, Noriko turned to the man who had his eyes on her the whole time. She then calls out to him with a small blush on her cheeks.
"Jotaro" his name slipped from her lips like petals, and it turned him on. The taller man approached her slowly, eyeing her from top to bottom. He then caressed her rosy cheeks and cupped her face, their faces only inches away.
Noriko was looking directly into his ocean green eyes, loosing herself in those orbs. Jotaro had his eyes on her plump lips as pink as peaches. She could not hold on anymore, and so could not Jotaro himself.
Both of them finally pressed their lips together and it was as if two opposite ends of magnets finally met. The kiss was gentle at first, but then it got more passionate as he pulled her closer by her slim waist.
The smaller girl had wrapped her arms around the broad shoulders of her partner. She being way shorter than him had to stand on her tippy toes to reach his level.
Jotaro noticed how she was struggling, so he offered. "You want to do it in bed??".
Noriko blushed a deep red, but then nodded at him. Jotaro picked her up in bridal style and she held onto him. He then took her to his elegant bedroom.
Though is was a decorated simply, it was looking very exquisite. The floor was wooden and it creaked softly under Jotaro's steps.
The taller man laid down the smaller lady slowly and carefully on the bed as if she was made up of delicate glass. The girl stared longingly at the man hovering over her as she leaned up to kiss his lips.

ford darling
character inspirations: matilda, #5, villanelle, a tweet i read where a girl’s mom kicks her out of the house and the girl’s friend’s mom takes her in (god i wish I could find it, it’s somewhere in my likes)
Ford Darling’s beginnings were somewhat lonely. His mother only kept him out of obligation and his father left her when he figured out she was pregnant. She didn’t treat him awful per-say, but she did treat him as though he wasn’t there most of the time. As a child, he longed for the warmth of his mother and her love. And this longing only intensified when he started preschool and he saw how loving and affectionate other mothers were when it came to their children. He tried to convince his mother to love him by attempting to impress her with grades and positive behavior but he ended up growing farther apart from her as time went on. Instead, he gained the attention of his teachers and the owner of a bookstore and bakery.
His teachers would take care of him by paying for his lunch when his mother forgot to give him money for it, or they’d find him clothes when he grew out of them. They’d praise him whenever he came in for tutoring or during lunch to study. He appreciated this quite a lot because it was the attention he longed for from his mother but never really received.  Then, from the bakery-bookshop owner, he became friends with her son and she became something of a Miss Honey-Type for him, which ended in him visiting the bakery for free pastries - because she gave them to him - or nights where he spent the night at her place and hung out with her son.
He basically stayed there quite a lot, and it got to the point where people saw him as her son. She never argued against these statements, which always made him feel really good. However, one day, his biological mother got a boyfriend and he didn’t like him very much. He told him to his face as much one day, and asked Ford’s mother to choose him or Ford, and his mother chose the boyfriend. Without even blinking an eye, his mother kicked him out of the house. And not knowing where else to go, he rode the bus to the bookstore-bakery owner’s house and told her the story.
The woman, Claudia, was furious and drove over to his mother’s house and angry smacked her as soon as she opened the door, telling her that she should be lucky to have Ford as a son. Ford was shocked by this and was even more shocked when his mother said she’d give the owner guardianship over him because she just couldn’t handle him anymore and just wanted to be with her boyfriend. Ford gathered his things after that, and then he set off to live with Claudia who continued to treat him as a son - only this time she was his actual mother now.
Ford went to private school on scholarship and knew Claudia’s son, Rory, before he began to visit her bookstore-bakery a lot for food and drink. Rory had told him about it one day made a point to tell him about how he hung out there a lot with his mom and how he could hang out with him, too. The two of them hung out a lot there and frequently played scrabble, connect four, and chess together. They formed a strong bond and might as well have been brothers before they became actual brothers.
Ford’s been called a sassy little shit and this description of him has been stated even throughout his adulthood. He’s also very deadpan and serious, and his emotions are there but due to his upbringing, he’s somewhat lowkey about showing how he feels. He also has to keep his emotions in check since in verses where he has superpowers he’s telekentic and when his temper acts up shit floats or explodes and occasionally people get hurt. He prefers that not to happen and sees a therapist to find coping mechanisms to control his anger and upset, and so far this keeps his feelings and powers in check. It should also be noted that another power that Ford has is healing, and when he’s hurt or someone else is hurt, he can’t heal if he’s angry. Anger only manages to make things worse. In verses where he doesn’t have superpowers, he did get into fights while attending school because at his private school talked shit about him being on scholarship and because he was a bit of a teacher’s pet. He kind started to not give in after he moved in with the Darlings.
When it comes to love his love language receiving gifts. He likes making playlists with songs that remind him of friends, family members, and romantic partners and gives them to them discreetly - usually on CD, but sometimes through Spotify. He can be playful despite being serious, so at times he’ll leave little messages through the Spotify song titles. On the subject of musis an adult, he can play guitar so he sometimes plays guitar in small bars. Usually with music that isn’t written by him and that’s written by other people. He has a good voice though and makes habit of teaching himself to get better at using his voice and playing his guitar. This originally was something he did to distract himself while in law school, but now as a criminal defense attorney, like Claudia’s wife Beth, he just does it for fun and gets a lot of joy from it.
When he wants to get away from everyone he goes to the local aquarium. As a child, he’d sneak out of his new mother’s house and when he lived with his biological mother, her house, to go to the aquarium. He’d stay there for hours and just think about everything and nothing particular. It kept him occupied because he enjoyed watching sealife and learning the names of the fish and plants. As an adult, he’ll go to the aquarium with his tablet and go over notes for his cases while people around him chatted and communicated amongst each other.
Knows a lot of useless facts but can’t retain information for anything super important. You ask him what people’s names mean or how licks it does take to get to the center of tootsie pop and he’ll tell yah, but when asked what he had for breakfast what he wore the day before he won’t recall the information at all. However, when it comes to the details of other people - specifically friends and family - he’ll remember everything from their favorite color to how quickly it usually takes them to eat a bowl or top ramen.
Isn’t much of a reader or writer but he loves to watch movies and can quote lines verbatim without so much as a pause. He’s been obsessed with films - specifically old Hollywood films and musicals - since he was a child and took comfort in movies like “some like it hot” , “how to marry a millionair” and “the big sleep” by watching them repetitively. They hold a special place in his heart and if he really cares for you he’ll tell you about his favorite movies and watch all of your favorites and least favorites because that’s how he thinks he’ll get to know you. He also enjoys watching Shakesphere adaptions and ballets. Was in awe of the first play and ballet he’s ever seen and as an adult will go to them for fun and just to get his mind off things.
As a criminal defense attorney he is BRUTAL in the courtroom and takes no prisoners whatsoever. He is loyal to his client and does his job so good that people or horrified to be on the other end of the courtroom against him. He thinks it’s fun because he gets to argue for free and to /help/ somebody and it’s honestly his dream job because of that. A lot of people at the courthouse hate him though since he’s so goddamn full of himself when it comes to work and he doesn’t try to get on anyone’s good side, minus his ex-wife, who he is close to even after their divorce.
For someone who can come off as an ego-centric asshole, he’s loyal and caring towards his friends. He doesn’t show it through words or through acts of service, but he does give gifts - like I said above - and he does listen and give great advice. He can be easy-going company with the right person and not a complete and utter jerk. People like that are rare though since he puts up that personality so people avoid that side of him and the vulnerability that comes with it.
friendship
“talk less, smile” or “nod” more, is a very specific ford thing to do. he’s not the most chatty person in the world and is more likely to shower you with gifts than anything else -- like he’ll sing you a song or make you a playlist or an origami bird -- when it comes to meeting new acquaintances and friends. he’s a cool person to be around because he’s mello and isn’t much for starting drama unless people piss him off and start it. he’s the type of friend who will chill with you indoors, outdoors, whatever - as long as he gets some you time. he is something of a trouble-maker though, so some of his friends are probably gonna be troublemakers too. and his friends who aren’t troublemakers are probably goody-two-shoes who go to columbia law that he either tries to make troublemakers, or tries to learn from. it all depends on where he’s at and his mindset. but he is an alright friend. just not super well-behaved and he kinda is in love with himself. so i doubt he’d be friends with anyone is constantly talking shit about or judging him.
antagonistic
ford has a temper on him when he’s pressed or when he feels like someone can’t defend themselves. he is calm for the most part, but if you call him names or egg him on by pushing him, there’s a one-hundred percent chance you are getting decked in the face. he’s also gotten into trouble at random bars and clubs for getting into fights with men who just won’t leave women alone. and when he gets into trouble for it, he doesn’t apologize because he thinks he’s doing the right thing. Which is another thing, the fact that he’s so goddamn self-assured could be something that bothered people.  Oh, and his mouth.

Mary /Amo /Vivian Norbury/S4
T6T But it wasn’t a dream, it was a MIND PALACE and you and you...
The and ‘you were there’ TV trope
The Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum (novel), Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf
Dorothy: But it wasn't a dream. It was a place. And you and you and you...and you were there. But you couldn't have been could you? No, Aunt Em, this was a real truly live place and I remember some of it wasn't very nice, but most of it was beautiful--but just the same all I kept saying to everybody was "I want to go home," and they sent me home! Doesn't anybody believe me? But anyway, Toto, we're home! Home. And this is my room, and you're all here and I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again. Because I love you all. And... Oh Auntie Em! There's no place like home!
 No longer enroute to exile
And so our poor hero is still stuck in his dream/nightmare. We know he just wants to back to 221B Baker Street (home). He is fighting to get back to John, reliving fragments of their life together, pieces of the cases they have solved, snippets of words, phrases, themes. All the while frantically trying to figure out who Mary really is and why the hell she felt she had to shoot (shooting with a strong likelihood of dying) him. Oh yeah, and to save John Watson from ‘that wife’.
The code names
Antarctica, -Mycroft
Langdale, ?Sir Edwin
Porlock -Sherlock (poor Sherlock, feeling sorry for himself-me too!)
Love-Amo -not Lady Smallwood, in fact
Video footage of Sherlock repeating the word sociopath which is what Sherlock still thinks of himself...a facade, remind you of anyone? SHERLOCK (on video screen): Do your research. (The footage of Sherlock walking towards Magnussen.) SHERLOCK (on screen): I’m not a hero. I’m a high functioning sociopath. SHERLOCK (offscreen): ... sociopath. ( telescopic sight of a rifle shows two red dots on CAM) SHERLOCK (offscreen): ... sociopath. THE POSTHUMOUS GAME or in case of death break glass
SHERLOCK: No, no. He would never be that disappointing. (He gazes into the distance.) He’s planned something; something long-term; something that would take effect if he never made it off that rooftop alive. Posthumous revenge. No – better than that, posthumous game.  (Sherlock walking through a glass tunnel under the water. A shark swims towards the camera/ sharks in – presumably – the London Aquarium and Sherlock watching them.) Two places at one time/Moriarty is dead. Or is he? Once she had arisen, anyone could be her. Every war has suicide missions, every great cause has martyrs, it’s never twins.
The Duplicate Man
How could Dennis Parkinson be in two places at the same time? And murdered in one of them? JOHN (standing at the table looking at the evidence): Sherlock ... SHERLOCK (rapidly typing on his phone): It’s never twins.
Nothing is ever new
(His phone sounds an alert. John looks at the screen.) JOHN: Oh God. SHERLOCK (looking up from his own phone): Mary? JOHN: Fifty-nine* missed calls. SHERLOCK: We’re in a lot of trouble.
 SONNET 59*
If there be nothing new, but that which is Hath been before, how are our brains beguil'd, Which, labouring for invention, bear amiss The second burthen of a former child! O, that record could with a backward look, Even of five hundred courses of the sun, Show me your image in some antique book, Since mind at first in character was done! That I might see what the old world could say To this composed wonder of your frame; Whether we are mended, or whe'r better they, Or whether revolution be the same. O! sure I am, the wits of former days To subjects worse have given admiring praise.
Mary the receptionist MARY: Oh, you’d be amazed at what a receptionist picks up. (She leans closer to the phone and whispers loudly and dramatically.) They know everything!
The Facade
(Sherlock looks at the bag and for a moment it’s as if half of his face is replaced by a Thatcher bust, which then shatters. Sherlock’s gaze becomes intense )
A Facade Mary-remind you of anyone?
The houndog vs the shark
What, so I’m supposed to just go home now, am I? MARY: Oh, what do you think, Sherlock? Shall we take him with us? SHERLOCK: John or the dog? JOHN: Ha-ha, that’s funny. MARY (to Sherlock): John. Sherlock (mock-thoughtfully): Well ... MARY: He’s handy and loyal. JOHN: That’s hilarious. SHERLOCK: Mm. JOHN (not seriously): Is it too early for a divorce? MARY: Aww! (Smiling, she points to herself.)
Sherlock Slow but sure, John; not dissimilar to yourself. (John frowns and looks down at Toby again.) JOHN: You just like this dog, don’t you? SHERLOCK: Well, I like you.
John the Houndog-the faithful companion, Mary (Moriarty) the Shark-the predator
Remember the T shirt posted-by Arwel? ‘sharks like to shop, sharks drive on the right’.
SHERLOCK: I was so convinced it was Moriarty, I couldn’t see what was right under my nose. (Mary’s smile fades and she looks at him worriedly.) SHERLOCK: I expected a pearl. (but got a Rose, ha ha) The Aquarium
Vivian: Just like the merchant in the story I thought I could outrun the inevitable, always looking over my shoulder, always expecting to see the grim figure of ... MARY: ... Death. (She comes into the room and stops at Sherlock’s side.) SHERLOCK (not looking round): Hello, Mary. MARY: Hey. SHERLOCK: John? MARY: On his way. SHERLOCK: Let me introduce Amo.
SHERLOCK: Can’t have been easy all those years, sitting in the back keeping your mouth shut when you knew you were cleverer than most of the people in the room. (Mary to Sherlock in HLV-’you were very slow’. and in TAB ‘slow little brother’)  VIVIAN: I didn’t do this out of jealousy! SHERLOCK: No? Same old drudge, day in, day out, never getting out there where all the excitement was. (the doctor’s wife must be getting bored by now) SHERLOCK (quick fire): Well, on your salary it would have to be modest and you spent all the money on that cottage, didn’t you, and what are you, widowed or divorced? (He focuses in on gold band on the index finger of her left hand.) Wedding ring’s at least thirty years old and you’ve moved it to another finger. That means you’re sentimentally attached to it but you’re not still married. I favour widowed, given the number of cats you share your life with.
(When Sherlock was deducing Mary in TEH, he noted cat lover, bakes own bread, liar) MARY (nervously): Sherlock ... SHERLOCK (quick fire): A divorcee’s more likely to look for a new partner; a widow to fill the void left by her dead husband. (whose dead husband-Mary’s?) MARY: Sherlock, don’t. SHERLOCK ... So yes. I say jealousy was your motive after all – to prove how good you are ... or to avenge someone (it’s always something!). (Mary in TAB-I’m part of a campain!! After awhile, anyone could be her (him).
So, they play back Sherlock’s shooting with Mrs. Norbury (Mary/Mary mirror) shooting at Sherlock, but in this version, in Sherlock’s head, Mary is the one who gets shot and lays there bleeding in her husband’s arms. Because Mary is not who they think she is and after she shoots Sherlock, he realizes (somewhat fuzzily) that she has some connection to Moriarty. Miss Me?
The ‘idea of Mary as John’s wife’ will have to die. Sherlock thinks that John will be sad. Sherlock also thinks John will blame him.
I think the dialogue of John and Mary after she is shot may be Sherlock again replaying ‘what he should have/could have said,’ to John if he died that night in CAMs office (in John’s arms). If he was conscious, he could have thanked John and told him how happy he had made him.
@yan-yae @loveismyrevolution @monikakrasnorada @impatient14 @iamjustreading @tendergingergirl @isitandwonder @gosherlocked @bcdthomp @shawleyleres
I would like to thank @callie-ariane for all the awesome transcripts, which I read, paraphrased and lifted (a bit). Compiling that took countless hours, no doubt. The Sherlock fandom is forever in your debt and you are certainly my hero. Without your transcripts, I would have to rely on my very fragile mind.
Cheers!! 1/31/2017
