i have too many thoughts on the deleted jackienat scene for a girl who's supposed to be enjoying her birthday lol. i think at the root of it all, it's highly likely that when the actresses breathed life into the characters, and scenes got improvised, some things just stopped making sense for characters to do. including good things, like with jackie's 'i love you' to shauna! and i think this is the case for natalie looking at jackie with hatred before leaving her out in the cold. maybe at one point in her early stages of characterization it made sense, but clearly the people on the show didn't think that way anymore at some point, hence the cut. also ngl people taking this deleted scene, which for all we know didn't even make it into the final script, as some sort of 'gotchu' for jackienat enjoyers ( romantic or otherwise ) is weird as hell to me. like, it was removed for a reason.

I dont quite know how Oc Sunday works but here's my oc Yam! I was really really inspired by your art and Gene, so it's a bit similar but I hope you like it!

I don't have everything worked out yet but here we go!

Yam is from Pokemon Y and is a serena stand-in. She is in a relationship with shauna. She was also kind of killed by yveltal. Instead of being healed by Xerneas, yveltal just takes away her ability to die after it comes to its senses. So yam is in a coma, being healed and rehealed cuz even though she can't die, she still has energy from the oblivion wing stuck in her body and its still causing damage. Shauna and calem rush to search kalos for Xerneas so yam can be a functional living being. When they find Xerneas, it misinterprets their wish to heal yam and gives a peice of itself to shauna, so now shauna is immortal too, with the ability to heal and grow plants. (The exact qoute from my notes is... "Shauna being the chosen one of Xerneas cuz life and death bla bla gay")

That's most of what I have so far! I'm still working on it and am watching the anime rn for more ideas! (That's where the whole giving shauna nature magic comes from! The diancie movie!)

The drawing here is Yams outfit from the beginning of the game until the ultimate weapon. After that my idea is to have her colors get darker until post game where instead of orange and brown, she's red and black! I dont have that drawn yet though. On her hat is a flower like the one eternal flower floette carries

i think the failure of the yellowjackets approach and (to an extent, because it absolutely doesn't land perfectly all the time) success of the umbrella academy approach to the "teens in life-changing danger must reconnect all grown up" plot is that yellowjackets contains very grounded concepts treated with almost TOO much *oomph* and TUA contains very elaborate concepts that it treats elaborately. with yellowjackets whenever there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots i just get annoyed that they can't stick with one or two, settle down and really stew in them, whereas when there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots on the bad sibling show im like yeah comic book. that's exactly where you're supposed to be . but no that's not it actually. still thinking out loud. it's that yellowjackets sometimes deviates from its central question which is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Out There' to do other stuff that doesn't connect well and comes off over-the-top because it's disconnected. but TUA's central question is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Because Of Dad' and absolutely every single poor decision they make or relationship they bungle or disaster they fail to avert comes right back to that question no matter how wacky a path it takes to get there

#thinking about this because of my Idea #which is a little bit 'teens in lifechanging circumstances all grown up' . so i was combing through examples i know of the theme #and thinking about what i like and dont like about each of them #the thing is that if the plot is 'you fuck each other up and save each other's lives and alter each other forever' is that like... #once you have that element that element becomes the driving force. #yj sometimes gets too into its present-day intrigue in ways that DONT tie strongly enough back to the crash . they sometimes spin out weird #like the adam plot which was only very tangentially to do with shauna's issues #or the walter plot which was just sillygoofy misty times and honestly a waste of elijah wood tbh #but really far mroe than yj or tua or anything else the idea is animorphs-inspired #not in the aliens and space battles and all-out totally unsubtle war novel facets. but just. the question i think might open up my idea #from 'here are some characters' to 'here's why they're even in the same story'. is: #when your protags are thirteen-year-olds irreparably damaging each other in order to save a world that doesn't know they're even doing so. #and THEN THEY GROW UP. every single thing that happens to them comes back to that

Are the adult flashforwards segments of Yellowjackets good/worth watching?

they are necessary to watch to fully understand the show and the adult plot points have some good moments but the adult plotlines is the thing i like the least about yellowjackets. the majority of it is boring, pointless filler just padding out the run time but occasionally it gets really interesting and delves into their survivor guilt, the trauma they endured, and how they changed as people. skipping it would leave you confused, at the very least watch the adult flashforward scenes for christina ricci
