#and that’s the extent I’ve heard them really mention how Mike fits into all this which is basically the same as Finn saying Mike is clueless

This made me think about how the “cultural noise” was overwhelmingly surrounding Will’s feelings for Mike not his sexuality alone, but it's interesting how Shawn doesn't frame it that way and neither do the Duffers, and this is something they’ve done consistently. Whenever they’re discussing Will's arc for s5, the pressing situation that it's Mike he's in love with and Mike who's a huge part of Will's sexuality arc is just not addressed. They purposefully gloss over how his romantic feelings for his best friend are obviously a massive if not the biggest conflict in Will's arc. It’s like they're avoiding any acknowledgment of Mike’s role in this storyline—instead using vague terms like ‘emotional arc’ (which largely translates to his feelings for Mike)—because as soon as they even slightly imply that Will’s journey doesn’t exist in a vaccum and actually heavily involves and will impact other characters (aka Mike), the questions will start rolling in, questions they can’t answer. Not without spoiling anyway. So they just…don’t address the elephant in the room and thus most viewers make the assumption, taking the non-confirmation as confirmation, that it’s unrequited (and of course they would, because Mike is straight and loves his girlfriend, right?) and their plot twist is set up perfectly just by the power of people’s heteronormative thinking 😭 kind of genius because even something as tiny as a ‘we’ll see what happens’ would very much point to Byler. Silence about Mike is their best option! Can’t wait for the day that is allowed to change though.

You’re quickly wrapping up with hair and makeup, looking at your reflection in the mirror trying not to smile so much. You were particularly happy to wake up for work that day, all because of who you’re interviewing today.
You’ve had the pleasure of working with Chris Evans a few times before, and while at first it was his looks that drew you in, it didn’t take long for you to simply fall in love with his entire being. The first time was a little nerve wracking. You had seen other interviews where he seemed a little grumpy, tired, and annoyed with the questions he was being asked, and so you had put as much thought into your own questions as possible. You refused to be like the other journalists and reporters, the ones who simply asked Marvel related questions or how he worked out. It was easy to see that this man had personality much deeper than that, and you were always eager to explore it. You remember how your heart had been pounding right before that first interview, but the second the two of you started talking, it was simply… amazing. Despite only having known him for minutes, you had already felt perfectly comfortable and secure with him, as if you had known him for years. You had heard from others that he had that effect on people, but you never imagined it was to that extent.
Now here you are, getting ready for your fifth interview with him. Another thing you love about Chris is that he actually remembers who you are, each and every time. It always makes you feel special, though you have to remind yourself to calm down- he’s simply considerate and personable, he probably remembers other reporters he’s seen multiple times too.
“Alright, you’re all set. Chris finished up a few minutes ago, he’s probably out there getting seated.” The stylist tells you, and you smile up at him with a nod. “Thank you!” Standing up, you take a deep breath as you inspect yourself in the mirror. You’ve become used to seeing celebrities as a part of your job, but Chris is the only one who has your heart racing and butterflies fluttering. Even interviewing Jason Momoa for Aquaman couldn’t get you as simultaneously excited and nervous as appearing before Chris; you have the biggest crush on him, but at the same time, what can you do about it? Honestly, you’re convinced he probably has a secret girlfriend- it simply makes no sense to you that a man like him is single.
‘Thank God for hair and makeup,’ you think to yourself, pleased with your appearance- it’s not too overdone, but just the right amount, mainly just so the lighting doesn’t wash you out on camera. You gather your cards and take another breath, forcing yourself to calm down before going out to where the chairs are- you were hoping to play it cool, but the second you see him, a wide smile emerges on your face. How a man can look so handsome simply sitting there wearing a long sleeve maroon sweater and fitted jeans while playing around with a water bottle in his hands, you have no idea. “Hi there! Sorry to keep you waiting.” You greet him, and he looks up, immediately grinning. “Oh, hey, Y/N!” To your surprise, he stands up and extends his arms out for a hug, pulling you in for a warm embrace as if you’re a longtime friend he hasn’t seen in a while. You’re shocked but you quickly take the opportunity to hug him back, resisting the urge to inhale how damn good he smells. His broad chest feels so warm and perfect against you, and you swear you could be in this position forever.
“How have you been?” you ask as normally as you can, finally pulling back with a smile and gesturing for him to sit as you do as well. “Oh, same old, same old. I have to say though, I’ve been looking forward to this. I love interviewing with you, you always ask such awesome questions!” he compliments you, and you’re squealing on the inside. “Ahh, now I feel so much pressure!” you joke, though give him an appreciative smile as you cross your legs. “Thank you, though. That means a lot, I really do try to avoid the questions actors seem to hear all the time.”
“I’ve noticed, and I appreciate it.” Chris replies with a smile, his blue eyes sparkling more beautifully than the goddamn ocean. It’s truly overwhelming how handsome he is; you feel as though looking at him is like staring right into the sun sometimes. “I’m glad to hear that,” you say somewhat shyly, but clear your throat, glancing towards the cameraman. “We ready to start?”
“All good,” he replies with a thumbs up, and you wait for the signal before beginning with a smile. “Hello, everyone! I’m Y/N, and I’m here with Chris Evans today to talk a little about his latest movie, Knives Out!” Chris waves to the camera with a little smile, but almost immediately looks back towards you. “Glad to be here, Y/N.” God, you love when he says your name. ‘Hold it together, Y/N.’ You think to yourself; thankfully, your job basically consists of looking composed on the outside, and so you’ve at least had plenty of practice.
You give a brief summary of the movie to begin, then go into speaking about his character, Ransom. Looking towards him, you tilt your head slightly. “Now I know you played the ultimate golden boy when it came to Captain America, but a lot of your roles in the past have actually had a more twisted and angsty side. Curtis Everett in Snowpiercer, Syd in London, Mike Weiss in Puncture, and especially Bryce Langley in Fierce People. Was it a difficult adjustment going back to playing a more villainous character, or did you have a good time with it?”
“Wow. Even bringing out Fierce People, huh? You really did your research,” he teases, making you laugh softly before he continues to answer, looking thoughtful. “Honestly, it was pretty fun. Don’t get me wrong, I loved playing Captain America and the other lighter, comedic roles are fun too. But being a little wicked and vile is pretty entertaining as an actor. I missed it a lot, and I think I clicked with it again pretty easily.” He pauses before laughing, looking at the camera. “I make that seem like I’m just naturally an evil person. Like, ‘Yeah, it’s so easy for me to be an asshole on camera- because I am one in real life!’” he makes fun of himself, and you can’t help but laugh again as you reply playfully, “Well, you are from Boston, aren’t you? What are they called over there? Massholes?” He blinks and laughs loudly, grabbing his left pec which only makes you giggle to yourself and feel oddly triumphant at the same time. You love making him laugh. “Oh God, you’ve heard that term? Yeah, I’d say that definitely describes me pretty well.”
“Oh, c’mon, you’re not that bad.” You remark playfully, then realize you should probably stop transitioning this interview into flirtatious banter, and so you decide to move on to the next question. “Now for this particular movie, you have a variety of actors and actresses around you- some who are insanely experienced and have been in the industry for decades, and some who, while experienced, are young and only continue to climb upwards in their career. How did you feel, being a part of that? Does it bring back memories, does it influence you, do you influence or guide them?” you ask curiously, continuing, “You’re such an accomplished actor, and this cast was pretty remarkable as well- I imagine there were all sorts of different feelings working with them.”
Chris nods as he listens carefully, smiling and even looking somewhat intrigued. “That’s a great question. Yeah, I was definitely pretty nervous actually. I really wanted this role, and I was kind of intimidated going into it all. These people are amazing, honestly. I feel like I’ve learned so much from them, from Daniel to Jaeden, and I can only hope that I’m able to be a good influence on other actors as the ones I look up to are to me. It’s interesting that you mention memories, though. Seeing younger actors and actresses always reminds me of myself when I was younger- and then proceeds to make me feel very old.” He laughs, shaking his head to himself. “But watching Jaeden and Katherine, God, they’re great. They have such drive, ambition, and they’ve already made it so far. They’re so fun and I’m pretty sure I was nowhere near as talented as them at that age, but I definitely remember having that energy.”
You can’t help but smile as you listen to him. You’ve seen in other interviews that he wants to start a family one day, and that he’s excited to be a father. It’s adorable to you that he appreciates younger castmates so much, and even shows respect to them as actors. “You don’t think you still have that energy?” you tease, and he laughs, making an “eh” gesture with his hand. “Sometimes, but I’m telling you, I’ve gotten old. Years of action movies and stunts will do that to you,” he jokes, and you remember that he actually did a lot of his own stunts for the Captain America movies- no wonder he has such nice muscles. “Well, if it’s any consolation, you certainly don’t look old.” You can’t help but reply, but glance back down at your cards, forcing yourself to stay on track. The cameraman, one of your friends, is probably snickering to himself, and you bet you’re going to get quite interesting comments once this video is uploaded. How can you not go back and forth with him though, just a little? He makes it so easy, what with his perfect sense of humor, contagious laugh, and mere eye contact. He makes you feel like a person, a friend, not just some nosy reporter.
After a few more questions (and a teensy bit of flirting), the interview finally comes to an end. “I hope you guys are excited to watch this movie, because I’m telling you, it’s a good one- and I think everyone will be very entertained by Ransom Drysdale.” You remark with a raised brow, looking to him with a soft laugh. “Thank you for coming, Chris!” He smiles charmingly, waving at the camera. “Thanks for having me, Y/N. I had a great time.”
The cameraman signals that he’s stopped recording, but flashes you a little smirk before turning to the crew to discuss the work that needs to happen next. You blush slightly but clear your throat, looking up at him- you hate this part because he’ll have to leave soon, but you’re hoping you can squeeze in just a little conversation before that happens. “Seriously, thanks again. Honestly, you’re one of my favorite celebrities to interview,” you admit with a slight laugh, biting your lip. “You actually answer with… depth.” He laughs too, barely leaning forward. “Oh, yeah? Are you accusing celebrities of being airheads?”
“Some of them!” you can’t help but answer bluntly, and both of you are laughing again. Now he bites his lip, suddenly looking at you a little more intensely than before- you hope your cheeks aren’t becoming as red as they feel. “Hey, Y/N. Can I ask you something?” You nod a little too fast, your curiosity piqued. “Of course. What’s up?”
“Do you, uh…” he pauses for a few moments before chuckling slightly, waving his hand. “Ah, fuggit, I’m just gonna come out with it.” His Boston accent comes out even stronger than usual as he swears, and you love and hate how attractive it sounds. “Are you dating anyone?”
Your heart is pounding at this point, and you have to force yourself to respond in a way in which your voice doesn’t shake. “No, I’m not.” You cock your head, holding back a smile. “Why do you ask…?” He seems to look pleased about this, even visibly perking up before suddenly looking uncertain again, laughing awkwardly. “Okay. Okay, um, please tell me if this is crossing any lines. Like, please. Don’t be scared to slap me, even.” He jokes, and now you’re feeling the excitement bubbling up inside, though at the same time your brain is screaming at you not to raise your hopes up. “I have permission to slap you. Noted.” You tease in return, proud of yourself that you still somehow seem to have your wits intact. He laughs, eyes twinkling as he continues, “I know we’ve only had a professional relationship but… I was… kinda hoping I could take you out sometime. Dinner, walking the dog, a movie, ice cream, roller skating- anything. I just… man, I really want to get to know you.” He confesses, and it takes you everything to not practically jump up and down and squeal right there. You’re shocked. You truly never thought that someone as famous and attractive as him would be interested in a mere reporter.
“Chris.” You smile widely, nothing but eagerness in your sparkling eyes. “I would love that.” You blush slightly, adding, “If we’re being honest, I’ve had a crush on you for like, years now.” Chris widens his eyes, scoffing in playful frustration as he buries his head in his hands. “You’re serious? God dammit, I knew I should have asked you earlier!” He looks up at you again, sighing deeply. “I really just assumed you were dating someone. Hell, even married. I mean, look at you, you’re gorgeous, funny, smart…. And you have depth.” He refers to your previous comment, and you laugh, though blush madly as you do so. “Thanks,” you reply softly- you swear you’ve never felt this much happiness in your life.
His manager comes up behind him, gently tapping his shoulder. “Chris, we should get going. We have another interview to get to.” He blinks, looking somewhat disappointed but nods, looking back to you. “Mind if I get your number, then? We can talk later?”
You nod, biting your lip delightedly as he hands you his phone as if you’re a child receiving a king sized candy bar. After putting your number in, you give it back- only to be wrapped up in another hug from him. “I’ll see ya real soon,” he whispers in your ear, and you’re blushing even deeper than before, though you nod with a little giggle.
“I can’t wait.”

It’s like coming out of the closet.
As a cannabis user for the past 2 decades, the last 2 years have been revolutionary. I got high for the first time with my friend Bill back in 1992. I got drunk for the first time with my friend John around the same time. I got violently ill with alcohol but I had a blast with cannabis. I knew almost right away that cannabis was going to be my intoxicant of choice. This left me with a major stigma, of course. I had to spend the next 24 years not sure how people would react to my choice of getting intoxicated to relax at night. I got a lot of shit from a whole lot of people. People who said I “did drugs”. Effectively putting me on the same level as a heroin or Crystal meth abuser. In college, being a cannabis user meant that I sometimes ended up meeting actual junkies. I had absolutely nothing in common with these people other than we enjoyed a schedule 1 drug. Mine was less dangerous than alcohol while theirs was the worst of the worst. Yet, we ended up in the same circle due to me not being able to purchase it any other way. I hated that. I resented that.
Things like making friends always had the possibility of being judged, scoffed at and looked at with total scorn. At West Chester and Ferrum, I used to attend parties full of drunken idiots, but often got dirty looks from people for being the one smoking a bowl instead of drinking. I was generally banned from smoking in someone’s house, which I totally get. It is illegal and they don’t want to get in trouble. Ferrum also had a “zero tolerance drug policy”. Which meant you would get in just as much trouble for a joint than you would for heroin.  At least on paper. Drinking, of course, was totally normal and could take place right in the open.
On many occasions, I have been made to feel shame by someone who loves to drink by the implication that their way of getting intoxicated was better than mine, theirs was fun and harmless, where as mine was evil and dangerous. a few examples come to mind. One was my best friend’s brother in law’s ex wife.  She was a major drinker and all her stories on Facebook revolved around her getting totally trashed at pubs every night  or being so hung over the following day she could barely function. One time I suggested switching to cannabis and she got ridiculously offended with a “I don’t do that shit.  I might like to drink, but I don’t touch drugs!!” This is a typical response (not to mention ironic as she is now a crystal meth addict). Another time I was at a pub with 2 friends of Bill’s near his old apartment. Bill had left to do something so I was hanging out with these other 2.  One of them was a single woman named Erin. She was really attractive and I was really doing my best to work up the nerve to try to engage her in conversation. The problem was she and the guy were both big drinkers and all of their stories were about drinking. Literally. I was waiting for the subject to change to a topic I could add something too.  But it never presented itself. So, even though I knew it could backfire, I brought up stories of mine about cannabis. I stopped telling stories revolving around it’s use alone ages ago, but I wanted to fit in, and get her attention. They both seemed less than impressed but didn’t say anything. The following day I was talking to Bill on the phone and he told me his buddy said I was “totally sweating Erin” which was true. But, she was really turned off by my use of cannabis and how I “kept bringing it up”. Meanwhile I was all “Say whaaaa?!” When I say all of their stories that night were about drinking, I mean there was literally not a single story they told that wasn’t about drinking, yet I was the weirdo druggie who wouldn’t stop telling boring stories about getting the reefer madness.
In my experience, it was usually women who judged me the most about it. Or at least their judgement is the one I heard about the most (maybe because I didn’t give a fuck what the dudes thought, as I wasn’t trying to date them). Even Tammy said back in the early 2000s that it was something that was fine to “experiment” with when you’re a teen, but once you “grow up” you give it up. I asked her what was that based on, she just shrugged and said it’s just how she feels.  Fair enough, but it still struck me as illogical as the thing you do as a “grown up” is far more dangerous, and tends to make you act way more childish when intoxicated.  But, again, there was no arguing with “marra-jah-wanna is an illegal drug and alcohol is a time honored way to socialize”.  The worst of those arguments for me was with my buddy Anthony’s wife Colleen. She has open contempt for cannabis users and had no problem getting in my face about it at every opportunity (in addition to getting in my face about Israel and how Jews are criminals, then flipping out if you respond by bringing up Northern Ireland. But that’s a rant for another day). Her contempt reached a whole new level at a Halloween party at my house back in 2004. I was talking to someone else about growing my own cannabis. She started to get in my face about being a “drug user” and how it’s destroying society. I asked her how was I hurting anyone by smoking it on my back porch at night after work? She started to say that it hurts children because when I buy it from the dealer, I’ll smoke up with him right in front of his children (which I sure as fuck have never done), that it changes people’s personality for the worse (but alcohol did not, according to her) it destroys families and in order to get my drugs, it has to be smuggled by evil drug cartels who murder innocent people “because of people like YOU”. When I tried to say that’s why cannabis should be legal, taking the power out of the hands of the evil cartels, she laughed and said “that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard”. She has a brother who is a criminal. Among many other things he did illegally, he sold weed.  His adolescent daughters ended up in foster care with her and Anthony due to him being in prison at the time. To me, this was the worst of anecdotal evidence. She seemed to think all cannabis users are guilty this happened. Not that her brother was a total sociopath. That was 15 years ago and she is one of those people that I’m willing to bet you would still double down on this sentiment, as she pretty much will never admit to being wrong. Even once various states began to legalize it’s use and almost everything I said would happen happened (drug cartels losing huge amounts of money, tax revenue going to help social programs, victimless crimes not wasting the police’s time, and no, it’s not going to result in everyone getting stoned 24/7, for a few examples) it all didn’t matter. She sure as hell doesn’t have to listen to anything a stupid druggie says. As we’re all a bunch of doped up liars who only care about our own pleasure. All that being said, there have been plenty of men who have judged me harshly too.  I always suspected my old buddy Mike and I drifted apart due to his attitude about cannabis (among other things). Although it’s kind of funny that his wife enjoys it, gave it up after college because it’s illegal. Then he was shocked when she said she would resume using it when it’s fully legal.
This is all not to mention the shit my mother used to give me about it. She was the only one who was worse than Colleen...at least towards me.
Other examples:
My ex-GF Nina one time was openly showing contempt when I made some remark about still smoking in my 50s.  She said “wait, you are planning to still be smoking weed in your 50s?!” I was all “Yea.  Why not? Why does that matter?!” She responded with something to the extent of “You never plan to grow up?!” This was at the end of our relationship and she started off the relationship with not caring about cannabis use but by the end she was always giving me shit about it. To a point where I was uncomfortable even bringing it up, because it would result in a long boring holier than thou rant about how bad it is, grow ups don’t use it, etc. I was not upset when we broke up.
My Ex-GF Lisa wasn’t too bad about it in that she didn’t bring it up very often. I just promised I would never be high when we were together, a promise I always kept. Her late father had spent time in prison on Moonshining charges and she admitted that there wasn’t that much of a difference.  But alas, it’s a “drug” and alcohol is legal. Therefore one is immoral and one is just fine. Very cut and dry.
When my soon to be ex-wife was having an affair with he who shall not be named, he used my cannabis usage as another way to show my inferiority to him.  He was a dysfunctional alcoholic, but what I did was only for hippie idiots so therefore it was only logical to have open contempt for me.
My late mother used to referred to my father’s cannabis use as our family’s “dirty little secret”. Very effectively attaching shame and guilt to it’s use...which was totally her intention. She also always referred to it as “dope” and “drugs”. She would always accuse me of being high even when I wasn’t. She would go out of her way to try to catch me (if I was coming home late, she would wait up, even if my friends were with me, so she could tell me my “eyes look funny” or “I’m acting funny”. I’ll leave it at that, as I have a lot of issues with my late mother and the way she treated me like a criminal for cannabis use.
But, it’s dramatic policy change in our country has led to a dramatic attitude change. Last week, I got attitude from a woman who was a drinker who acted like I was a druggie for owning a medical card but didn’t drink, but this attitude is becoming the exception rather than the rule. Before, I couldn’t even add it to my online dating profile because I had to always assume it was an instant turn off...even though it would be something that they would find out about eventually.  Thank freakin’ god.

Caught - Richie x reader
Request by @tom-holla :hey!!!!! Can I request a richie one where reader has a big crush on him and he teases her about (she doesn’t know that he knows) and it’s all fluff?? Thank you so much!!:)
I write for all the boys and girl in the losers club but Stan is my main man and that's why he is in my username. But do feel free to request about the others!
Also, they are both 16 in this one since I wanted to try out writing about an older Richie. I hope that's okay.
Let's get going!
~
To say that you were oblivious was an under statement, you were practically blind in situations like this one. Not physically blind but socially.
You see, you had this very unfortunate crush on the one and only Richie Tozier. The local trashmouth that never failed to make you smile or laugh with one of his stupid jokes or crude remarks. He made your heart beat 100 miles an hour whenever he made physical contact with you, let that be a simple brush of hands or a hug. Now you might ask 'why is this so unfortunate?' and the answer to that question is, he is your best friend.
You knew how cliché it was, falling for your best friend but what can you do. You couldn't help it, you were just infatuated by the boy with the big glasses.
Everyone knew that this boy was all mouth and he could ramble on about anything and everything not to mention the teasing and dick jokes. But they also knew him as the boy with the glasses and a big crush on Y/N L/N. yet somehow she hadn't found out. Richie wasn't oblivious like she was, sure he wasn't the best at knowing when to stop joking but he knew when someone liked him or spending time with him. He saw it almost right away, all of the signs.
Okay, actually he didn't notice on his own. Beverly had told the idiot that the Y/H/C girl had a "big ol' case of love struck" and started to point out all of the little things she did. The way she shed little longing glances at him when he wasn't looking, the way the pairs hugs and high fives lingered just a bit longer than when they did the same actions with their other friends and the way she always was by his side whenever everything at home got too much and he just wished he could disappear into the earth and she would be right there to pick him back up and dust him off.
Subconsciously he did the same. Richie would look over at her whenever he was sure she wasn't stealing glances at him, he would stare at her to the point that his friends had started joking that he would have flies in his mouth if it was more agape.
Long story short, they were both head over heels for the other.
If you thought the teasing was bad before then prepare to be proved wrong by a landslide. Now the real mocking began. The boy with the big horn brimmed glasses shot sly comments your way as often as he had an opportunity to do so or in the middle of a conversation with the others in the losers club just quietly enough for only you to hear. It even went to the extent of him passing notes in class which was a hell of an experience when you two actually got caught and he had to read it out loud.
The two of you were stuck in year 11 history with the teacher going on about what had happened that previous weekend. So mister Gray wasn't paying attention too the two teens sat in the middle section of the classroom on the left side where the windows were placed, or so you thought.
Richie silently removed the corner of his notebook and started to scribble down a couple of words on the piece of paper. For a brief moment he looked over at you trying to thing of something to write down. His eyes graced your features, adoring them, but then he snapped back into reality and continued to write his little message. Just as he had folded the note messily and was in the action of passing it your way someone spoke up.
"So, Richie." His eyes snapped towards your teacher "If this is so important that it can't wait until we're finished then would you please read the note out loud so that the rest of us can be grazed by your surly very important conversation with Y/N" Mr.Gray shifted so that his weight was on the other foot while his glare burned right into Richie.
"Sure can do!" Richie said and pushed his glasses "this is meant for Y/N if you couldn't tell." Now you along with the others in the class was looking directly at him but his eyes were on you as he started to read the note "I was feeling a little off today, but you definitely turned me on. It's like I have a light switch on my forehead cause it happens every time you look at me"
Now the whole classroom was laughing at him, every kid but you. Your eyes were glued onto your desk as a blush crept onto your cheeks and a small, shy smile played on your lips. You couldn't bring yourself to look at him, what if he saw you and just found it weird that you blushed since it was only one of his jokes. His eyes, on the other hand, were on you until he heard the teacher say something about detention after school. He was sure as hell not going to show up even if it meant more trouble later on.
Yet you still didn't realize that the boy mirrored your feelings with his own, you just thought that he was being his usual flirty self but you didn't notice how he stopped hitting on other girls.
Today all of the losers were going to hangout together at the quarry. No swimming of course since it was far too cold. With all the leaves turning yellow and shades of orange and falling into the water along with the ground and Eddie frantically rambling about how 'all the leaves carried at least 26 different types of bacteria' and how 'you would get sick out of your mind if you went swimming when it's this cold'.
You, Mike and Stan were the ones with cars so today you three acted as chauffeurs. Bev, Eddie and Bill were all riding with Stan since they had hung out earlier that day, Ben was going with Mike because apparently Mike wanted to show him something in his truck. If you didn't know any better you would think that they had all rigged it so that you and Richie were left alone.
But you happily complied and drove to Richie's house. Guns N' roses was blasting on your stereo and your sweater covered hands tapped the steering wheel slightly along with the music. Soon enough you found yourself outside of the curly headed boy's home. You honked loudly and a couple of seconds later he emerged and jogged slightly across his driveway. He was wearing a black hoodie along with black jeans, simple but it made you blush a little.
He still occasionally wore Hawaiian shirts with a white t-shirt underneath just like he did when you were 14 but now they were more toned down if the idea of wearing one struck him. Now he wore more blacks, maroons and grays and you weren't complaining. Not that you would be under any other other circumstances because he's Richie damn Tozier, he'd look good in anything.
He flung open the car door and plopped down into the seat next to yours and shut it again. You started driving off towards the quarry while he was still buckling his seat belt. The two of you were going to arrive early but it doesn't really matter. Suddenly he turned off the music and turned towards you who was still focused on the road.
"Hey, Y/N" he spoke with a slight smile on his lips.
"Yeah?" you answered as you turned the wheel slightly and bit your bottom lip as you concentrated.
"You know what this shirt is made of?" now he looked even more mischievous if that was even possible.
"I swear to god Richie. If you say boyfriend material I will personally kick you -"you were cut short.
"It's boyfriend material" Richie said while a smirk played on his lips and you let out a small chuckle and now you bit down your smile once again but this time to keep you from spilling all your feelings.
Your once slightly irritated face had turned red and you looked down for a moment just to fight back the urge to explain everything from start to finish, how you fell in love with him every day. Every DAMN DAY. How you tried to keep yourself from blushing and smiling at his cheesy pickup lines and the teasing. You couldn't contain yourself any more.
The light shifted slightly as you started to drive through the woods, it now reflected in patches due to the few leaves that still clung hopefully to the trees. Richie's eyes traveled between the beautiful scenery out the window and you. He silently reached for your free hand and intertwined his long and lanky fingers with yours, they fit together perfectly.
You stopped the car and twisted the keys in the ignition to turn it off, slightly shifted in your seat and got out of the car. The cold and harsh autumn air hit your face in a way that sent shivers down your spine. Another thud could be heard as Richie got out of the other side of the car and a little splash followed that as his beaten up boots touched the ground.
"Hey, Richie" his eyes snapped to meet your gaze "I kinda need to talk to you" you said while scratching the back of your neck and walked over to sit on the hood of your car but on the passenger side. You sighed shakily and looked over the beautiful quarry. All the tree shad turned yellow and orange and they reflected down onto the water beneath.
"Yeah, what's up?" Richie asked while moving to stand in front of you. He basically only got this serious when you two were alone but even if it was only you and him it was a rarity. He felt it in the air this time though, this wasn't time for jokes.
"So I kinda like you" you stated while turning a light shade of red and fought a smile "I've liked you for a while now and- actually no, I've been in love with you for a while now and I'm tried of trying to act like the teasing doesn't affect me." the explanation felt so natural, but you couldn't imagine looking into his eyes now that he probably was thinking of a way to reject you.
"I love you too, you couldn't be more obvious though" at that you both laughed and you looked upwards towards him just to lock eyes with him.
"Is that so mr.Tozier?" you asked with a sly grin on your face while Richie now good in between your legs and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Yeah, your worse at hiding things than Bill is at uttering an entire sentence without stuttering for fucks sake" now he was so close to your face that you could feel his warm breath on your face while he leaned down to look at you directly instead of the biting air that the fall provided.
Suddenly his lips were attached to yours. It took a second to react to the motion but soon enough you responded to his actions. Now your hands found his messy hair and you ran your fingers through it. Richie's hand found your waist to pull you impossible closer. Apparently he felt the need to deepen the kiss so he brought one of his large hands to the back of your neck, now this had turned into a full on make out session. Not that you were complaining, it was just a bit unexpected. If someone had told you earlier in the morning that you would be sitting on your car making out with Richie Tozier later today you would have laughed straight into their face, 'cause you were sure you didn't have the balls to be upfront with your best friend.
"WOAH, well hello to you guys too!" Stan exclaimed with eyes going wide and swiftly looked away, you and Richie broke apart. He and the others had obviously turned up without either of you noticing.
You had been caught. Whoops?
~
Hope you lot enjoyed!

Bruce Springsteen: Born to Run (an autobiography)
This is going to be more exorcism than exegesis – this book is odd, and I can’t stop thinking about why. The review line here is that this recent Springsteen autobiography is worthwhile enough if you are somewhere north of a casual Springsteen fan but if you are looking for a single Springsteen historical document, you’d be better served with the Dave Marsh biographies.  Superfans will of course love it, the curious will find it entertaining if they wind up with a copy, and the odd people like me who are obsessives without being real superfans will, well, find it peculiar but involving.
Bona fides: I’m an obsessive in that I’ve listened to every Springsteen song, legally released or leaked, up to 2006-ish, have read many of related books, filtered through ephemera, had the concert experience numerous times at different stages of his carrier, and have intermittent year long bouts of compulsively listening/getting moved/thinking about the whole Springsteen enchilada.  What really attracted me to him as an artist was that, unlike chameleons such as (Bruce fan) Bowie who committed to one thing at a time, he seemed to carry a bunch of different influences simultaneously, the skills of which he was proficient in, and would combine and project them - the arena rawker, the street party leader, the acoustic poet, the rock and roll revivalist, the RnB review, the storyteller, the piano balladeer - often capturing several in the space of a song. He also had such great phenomenological and artist-as-story interest: I had seen this with Elvis, but this was more complicated and comprised the sum of on stage relationships, story content, song preoccupations, personal life leaks, and attitude towards fans coalescing into a legend of an avatar of the American working class and underclass, coming in with a bunch of buddies who together were a family, to redeem something in the American spirit, all on the shoulders of some incredible will and discipline.
So why am I exiled like Moses, able to see the super fan promised land but never enter? First (and this is not restricted to Springsteen) I find the fan ethos offputting.  It combines a deification I loathe with a fake chumminess that makes me nauseated.  More importantly, though, I really don’t like much he has produced since Tunnel of Love marked his most significant career transition.  I note only one great song (“Terry’s Song”) written since the Chimes of Freedom EP which marked the end of the ToL tour, his first marriage, and the initial E Street Band run.  This includes a take it or leave it attitude towards current concerts on my part (the spark isn’t there for me) and wariness about where the Springsteen “story” has gone. One of the greatest things about him early on was the mastery of basically every corner of rock and roll, and his attempt to incorporate new elements and stay fresh are kind of embarrassing (I like Rage Against the Machine too, but the weak link there is Tom Morello’s guitar, and Springsteen hired him to “rejuvenate his sound”.  Ugh).
So, why is it weird? I don’t read many autobiographies (only one I can remember finishing is No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish) so maybe it’s par for the course, but this isn’t a sculpted recounting of history but a chain of 80 or so “stories” like extended versions of the ones he would tell on stage, and are concerned more with internal rhythm than an external sense of pace or continuity.   There is a lot of backtracking where the reader needs to “match” events. This story approach extends to frequent use of his stage voice(s), where he will go into revival preacher or beat poet mode, do stream of consciousness riffs, and recount back and forth embellished dialogue (without quotes, but with interjections like ‘Marone!’) like he is arguing with himself.  The good news is you can truly hear his voice in the semi-poetic prose. The bad news is it doesn’t flow well, leaves strange things out, cuts back and forth, and the story seems incomplete.
The best thing about the book is an authentic third angle on the Springsteen legend that I legit had never heard before.  The Springsteen myth is heavily curated by the Boss himself and has always painted a picture, as I noted above, of a rock’n’roll family bringing a fun redemption to the world. This had to be resolved with journalistic and tabloid information that challenged the story, but there was always a fan synthesis that incorporated the info and left the godhead intact.  My memory of rec.arts.music.springsteen (one such recounting was called “a good man,” gagh!) is that Juliana Philips was seen as “a mistake of exposure to big success” and “a vain actress,” and he soon realized that what he needed was a good Jersey girl (which resolves how the marriage never fit fan image of him and sands the edges off of the inconvenient timing of the affair). Springsteen’s recounting of this is a good example of the value of his non-filtered point of view.  He goes out of his way to demonstrate the small town authenticity of Phillips and describe her as wonderful and loving.  The problem was that he was impossible to get along with for anyone after a couple of years and his mishandling of the separation (not wanting the press to know while he began another relationship and got caught) is the biggest regret of his life (because of how it impacted his then-wife).
This approach reveals him as a hard guy to know.  He describes himself as a narcissist and self-hater (cue Venn diagram of the overlap of narcissism and self-doubt being Art), and he tells story after story of the men in his life where he lengthily but gently drags them through the mud, then says “but we would die for each other and I love him.” These stories come off as whatever happens to passive aggressiveness after expensive therapy (and this book is therapy-speak rich), and often serves to make him look worse than outside data does (the Mike Appel story especially where Springsteen was utterly in the right and was maliciously kept from recording for several years, but here Springsteen does everything to make excuses for him, gives him a butload of credit, and still manages to come off a little petty, i.e. these stories tend to backfire).  He spends a lot of time recounting how he told the bandmembers that they just had to understand that he needed all the control and that he had all the power, so they needed to suck it up.
The upbringing stuff is probably the best material and the most untrod ground. His family history is pretty compelling and I finally understand how his religious and ethnic background shaped his personality.  The sex stuff makes him look idiosyncratic and selfish: a monk sometimes, do anything that moves one year, but usually a serial monogamist with uncondoned cheating.   He comes off like a terrible boyfriend and worse husband (lots of lost weekend stuff), but this doesn’t really capture how odd the sex stuff is as much as that one passage about he and his dad went to Tijuana and he came back with the crabs.  He mentions prostitutes more times than he mentions groupies.
He picks several concerts to elevate to most important status that are not big ones in Springsteeen lore, but have some kind of multicultural underpinning.  To at least some extent, this is to craft a version of a guy who is in touch with human experience. He spends so much time on post Katrina, 9-11, and his hurt at the cops rejecting him after what he thought was the evenhanded “American Skin (41 Shots)” (the fact that he was surprised surprises me).  His talk about race and Clarence Clemons is fascinating – their relationship was molded on stage because he thought it was an important one to America both as an example and as an aesthetic statement.  They only knew each other in this context and rarely ever saw each other outside of stage and studio.  So their friendship, such as it was, was a Springsteen story performed into existence.  He is very conscious of (and calculated about) his cultural legacy.
So much is left out, yet there are a lot of stories that are barely OK, but seem there specifically to mark time so that it’s not Born in the USA cut-to everybody starts dying (thinking of the horse riding stuff as an example). His discussion of his depression is very valuable, but asynchronously told and thus hard to follow.  The book is full of “aw shucks” enthusiasm, idiom, and showmanship, but is somehow unexpectedly unguarded about the inner workings of his mind. He comes off as someone driven and not comfortable in his own skin unless he is accomplishing something, but in a human, actually painful way, that I have only ever seen divulged by a celebrity once before (David Foster Wallace).  I had an idea of Springsteen as reasonably well adjusted, but after this if he commits suicide I would not be surprised.
In the end, the book crystalizes in a new set for meanings of that old story of him ripping down the posters saying “the future of rock and roll” at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, 1975 – Springsteen is a control freak, most of all about what people think of him, crippled by self-doubt, with the constant need do something, anything, to reassert mastery over his art, his message, and his mind.  That this is at odds with the book’s willingness to go deep and spill stuff he would usually keep close and it is this tension (along with its storyteller-quilted nature) gives it its strange charge.  In the end, there is a grandiose humility that keeps it together and I’m glad I read it.

It's time to discover which key phrases are burning your budget. Get a free account audit with our Google Ads Performance Grader today! 1. BuzzSume We’ve pointed out BuzzSumo numerous times in the beyond, and that’s due to the fact it’s notable. (And no, BuzzSumo didn’t pay me to mention that.) For content marketers, it’s pretty lots the perfect tool for aggressive evaluation, and one of BuzzSumo’s strengths is identifying capability competitors you can not have been aware of. For example, maximum digital entrepreneurs are acquainted with Moz. They produce wonderful content material, develop their personal suite of excellent gear, and also lay on a pretty first-rate annual conference, too. If you run a search engine marketing weblog or publish search engine optimization-associated content material, you almost surely already recognize that Moz is among your most fierce competition. But what about smaller, unbiased sites that are additionally doing properly? Enter BuzzSumo. In the instance search below, I entered “search engine optimization” as my initial question – an incredibly extensive-term with thousands and thousands of ability consequences. Here’s what BuzzSumo unearthed for me: Obviously, we’re not inquisitive about the top two consequences, as they each pertain to South Korean actress Park Seo Joon. But what approximately the following two outcomes? Both have been published through Mike Johnson at a domain known as get started. Net – a website I’d by no means heard of prior to conducting this search. Check out those social proportion numbers, though – more than 35,000 shares for every article! This offers us a superb the starting point for our competitive intelligence studies, but we need to go deeper. Fortunately, BuzzSumo’s aggressive evaluation gear is top-notch. We’re going to apply BuzzSumo’s Domain Comparison device to compare unique domains throughout various parameters. For the sake of example, I’ve selected to evaluate the Content Marketing Institute’s web site against Copyblogger: BuzzSumo will then provide you with a breakdown of a way to two domains evaluate to one another. There are more than a few reviews available within the Domain Comparison device, but two of the maximum exciting are the Average Shares via Content-Type and Average Shares by using Content-Length reviews: As you can see, the maximum famous content kind for each the Content Marketing Institute and Copyblogger are lists, followed intently via how-to articles. This is already proving to be valuable information, however, we will go deeper to look at which articles are being shared the most by means of length: Now we’re getting a far clearer picture of what’s operating for these publishers. As the graph above illustrates, long-shape content performs well in phrases of social shares, even at lengths of 3,000- 10,000 words. But what approximately precise content and those sweet, sweet keywords? Let’s dive into BuzzSumo’s Content Analysis tool: In the instance search above, I’ve selected to examine CMI’s internet site. First, we’re furnished with an overview of content at the area we’ve specified, which incorporates a detailed summary of that domain, together with the variety of articles analyzed, overall and common social stocks, and average stocks by way of platform and content material kind as we noticed in our area comparison query earlier: This evaluation is certainly thrilling, but it’s no longer what we’re looking for – we want to realize which individual articles have finished strongly throughout the beyond 12 months. We can see this fact by means of scrolling down beyond the dashboard precis to the Top Pieces of Content file: The pinnacle end result – 50 Best Social Media Tools From 50 Most Influential Marketers Online – is away and away the most famous article published by using CMI in the beyond 12 months with greater than 10,000 stocks, twice the percentage quantity of the second-maximum popular article. Armed with this knowledge, we will use the URL of that article in another key-word tool to look at which precise keywords CMI’s most popular article contains. Sneaky, huh? When it comes to aggressive key-word studies, BuzzSumo doesn’t offer a wonderful deal of keyword-unique facts. It has, however, given us an exquisite start line for in addition to research. 2. SEM Rush Our next competitive intelligence tool is SEM Rush, an excellent suite of key-word research gear that will let you pick out competitor key phrases quickly and easily. You can seek via key-word or URL, clear out consequences via geographical vicinity or country, specify special fit sorts for PPC keywords, and examine domain analytics facts for whole websites. Let’s say we want to retain the research we began in BuzzSumo to locate CMI’s pinnacle competitors. We can do this with the aid of choosing the “Competitors” dashboard, which may be located thru the Domain Analytics > Organic Research menu: For this instance, we’re reading CMI’s organic keywords from Google.Com data for desktop searches inside the United States. You can trade this to localized British, German, or French Google outcomes if needed, and you can also select among desktop or mobile visitors' information. Next up, I want to look at how CMI stacks up in opposition to similar publishers in phrases of their organic key phrases with regards to their organic search traffic. I can discover these records by using inspecting the graph that SEM Rush generates as part of this record. As you could see below, CMI may be very near content material advertising productivity app CoSchedule’s web site in each natural keyword quantity and organic search traffic. We can also see that there are greater than 51,000 natural key phrases throughout the CMI website, as well as traffic facts and the anticipated price of attracting that site visitors: This fact is actually beneficial, but I need extra – specifically, how CMI’s competitors rank for their keywords. This fact can be determined beneath the reports above, inside the Organic Competitors file: This is where matters get really interesting. As the table above suggests, CMI’s pinnacle organic competitor is Curata. If we observe the traffic/key-word assessment graph above, Curata seems to be of little hazard to CMI; it ranks lower for each volume of organic key phrases and organic search traffic, but it’s listed as the pinnacle organic competitor inside the above table. Why? Because SEM Rush doesn’t just factor in organic keywords and organic seek traffic – it additionally factors in what number of keywords a competitor’s web page has in not unusual with yours, as well as the variety of paid key phrases on the site (in Curata’s case, simply one), in addition to the traffic price, the estimated cost of those key phrases in Google AdWords. We also can see that Curata has about 15,300 seek engine keywords on its web page. What if we want to peer what those key phrases are? All we ought to do is click at the data we want to examine: That’s more like it! With only some clicks, we will now see a wealth of aggressive key-word facts for Curata, which include the keywords themselves, their common organic position in the SERP, approximate seek quantity, the key-word’s difficulty (how tough it will be to rank for that unique key-word), average CPC, the share of visitors driven to the website by means of a selected key-word (displayed as a percentage), as well as costs, competitive density, extent of results, trend facts over time, and an example SERP. Incredible. 3. SpyFu SpyFu is another famous competitive intelligence tool that can help you locate competitor key phrases. Unlike comparable tools, however, SpyFu is a tool committed entirely to aggressive intelligence studies. An overview of the area dashboard within SpyFu It’s surely quite notable how a lot of statistics SpyFu can offer, even for primary or cursory searches. Data on the whole thing from local and global monthly search extent, CTR, ad spend, advertisement history, ranking history, backlinks, and ad companies are ready to be had, imparting useful perception into your competitors’ keyword strategies. Let’s hold our studies by way of deciding on “Competition” from the menu to the left of our area review as seen above. This brings us to a novel and really cool characteristic of SpyFu known as Kombat, which permits you to pit Keyword studies are the foundation upon which all top search advertising and marketing campaigns are built. Targeting relevant, high- intent keywords, structuring campaigns into logical, applicable advert groups, and disposing of wasteful negative keywords are all steps advertisers must take to build strong PPC campaigns. You also want to do keyword studies to tell your content material advertising efforts and force natural visitors. Sometimes, though, you actually need to discern out what your competitors are up to. What key phrases are my competitors using? Competitive key-word evaluation is one in all the only approaches to compete in a crowded space and gain a critical benefit over other groups for your industry. Read more
