Currently I’m pretty much exclusively a 9-1-1 writer, but in the past I wrote a lot of Flarrowverse (do they still call it that?). I also have published fics for Fantastic Beasts and a few anime (Given, Haikyuu, Saiki K). Given the number of Bnha wips i have locked away in the vault it’s amazing I don’t have anything published for that.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

This probably has to be The Crimes of Queenie Goldstein, in which Queenie is put on trial for her actions during the war. Don’t @ me but Queenie turning traitor was bu far the most interesting part of the Crimes of Grindelwald (the only interesting thing, really). There could be such an interesting story between her and Tina if only JKR would let the movies out of her grasp.

Fuck, idk if I have a happiest ending fic, a lot of them tend to not have that much story arc. (A lot of established relationship fluff or smut lmao). I guess if I had to pick one it would probably be How Eddie Learned To Stop Worrying and Embrace The Kitten Life.

Do you get hate on fics?

Not since that one anti-olicity fic that I wrote while deep in the trenches of Flarrowverse discourse, which I totally deserved :/. I have regrets. Also I should probably orphan/delete that one if I haven’t already. In my defense, high school. I have learned.

Do you write smut?

Yea lol. I think my 9-1-1 stuff has been almost exclusively smut. Idk how it happened. (I do know how it happened smut is fun to write)

I haven’t published any of my crossover fics :( none of them have been complete enough. I have many many unfinished RotBTD wips that have never seen the light of day though.

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Ok. After the end of the Heroes of Olympus Series, but before Trials of Apollo was announced, I tried my own hand at writing the sequel that was clearly coming based on all the loose threads in the final book. It was going to be a Solangelo quest to save the Oracle of Delphi from Python, while Akhys tries to poison Percy to turn him into an evil god(?). Half the details have been lost and I desperately want to remember them, because I haven’t attempted anything nearly as cool or ambitious since then. The first 5 chapters are posted on my ao3 (Will Solace and the Oracle’s Cry) and I still think high school me had the most interesting characterization of Will out of everyone else on the internet at the time. Even if it is still very 2015.

What are your writing strengths?

I think I’m good at getting into the heads of different characters. Understanding their motives and weaknesses.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Editing.

Lmao I have a lot of weaknesses but I definitely struggle the most with trying to look back on or change things I’ve already written, even when it’s necessary.

Also my tendency to just drop fics if I stop working on them for too long. Rip to my wip graveyard.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

That’s a minefield I’m not willing to play in. Unless it’s Chinese. Very limited amounts of Chinese. Or like, a pet name or phrase that’s already ubiquitous in fandom so I’m not risking anything.

First fandom you wrote in?

Percy Jackson!! That Will Solace quest is the first thing I ever wrote! I definitely had a tendency to jump into the deep end with new hobbies lmao. Like my first ever cosplay that took me 3 years to complete.

Favorite fic you've written?

I think my favorite fic is always going to be the one I’m currently working on writing. But I am very proud of the silly little dramatic ironies in In Hindsight, which I wrote entirely over one long lunch the day after 7x04 broke me. Also I have to shoutout Teacher’s Pet, that one ruler spanking fic nobody ever reads because it’s Eddie/Ana lmao. I enjoyed putting in a bunch of tiny incompatibilities between them. So, uh, I guess my favorite thing in my own writing is dramatic irony?

Genuinely need people in the One Piece fandom to know that if you dislike any particular arc in One Piece, it’s probably because you watched the anime. Read that arc in the manga and there’s a good possibility you’ll enjoy it a lot more

the school arc to me is so good because it drags ciel out of his position as a powerful figure and literally places him in the shoes of the person he could have been. the circus arc ALSO drags him out of his position as big bad queens watch dog/head of the phantomhive estate but the school arc feels like a mockery of a future that never was. this is what he could have been had his parents not died. and even then its NOT because he will never be that kid.

I have said this before but me being self proclaimed number 1 Ryoma fan and that being possibly literal-bc even if this bro had fans before me I might’ve simply done the most for him by talking about him so much + being the first to write fics that are in depth studies on his trauma across canons-I gotta say if there’s one other character I rotate a lot that isn’t him it’s probably Kei. (Shocking it’s not Hayato even if I do think about him too- but it’s usually associated with Ryoma bc gays 🗿)

I’m not even exaggerating when I say Kei would be my favorite and only isn’t because she doesn’t exist in many other canons yet my brain rotates the endless possibilities of how to incorporate her. I’ve already written a fic where she’s in shin vs neo verse which worked surprisingly well but I’ve been thinking how universally she could appear in other things. (Whether it be fitting her into a idea of a possible Go team in New or just a new canon completely) I think what I’ve narrow it down to is that she could be like- in Michirus role? Like she’s the supporting female who isn’t a pilot but helps out the real occasionally which I think would align very well especially with the original manga role she has of being Hayato’s assistant. And even if Hayato isn’t grandpa mode yet he still very much is in Saotomes position at that point. Not sure if she’d Hayato’s biological kid to further parallel Saotome and Michiru given well Hayato already adopts the Go team and his wife is irrelevant LOL.

I have no idea if I’ll ever write this specific idea but I’m still- rotating it cause this is such a easy way to get around “picking between Sho or Kei as the 2nd pilot” since both of them can still exist even if one doesn’t get to pilot, idm my supporting females. (Granted there could always be like- plot line where Sho gets hurt so Kei is temporary pilot but I can’t remember if Getter ever really did this since “once your hurt your ass is basically replaced” lol)

The more I read your posts the more I wonder what the fresh hell happened in the Bleach fandom lol.

I wasn't a part of it back then, but when I witnessed the collective breakdown from shippers in an ending, to the point of burning their books, I don't think I want to know...

Alright for a very, verrrry basic breakdown of what essentially happened:

Bleach starts, Ichigo meets Rukia

Early 2000's, boy meets girl in shounen and they're bickering, instantly shipped

First two arcs of Bleach focus on Ichigo and Rukia's relationship (henceforth referred to as IR)

Anime overhypes IR, downplays Orihime - Ichigo's actual love interest - and her relationship with Ichigo (the ship of which henceforth referred to as IH)

Anime makes Orihime more ditzy and air-headed + ditzy and air-headed female character in the 2000's + "potential" "love rival" of IR (Orihime is the sole love interest for Ichigo and thus there literally isn't a rivalry but you get the idea) = Orihime becomes extremely hated, consequently making IH extremely hated

Renji and Rukia's relationship (henceforth called RR, though it's less relevant in general) isn't necessarily downplayed by the anime so much as it is mostly ignored by IR because Obviously Rukia Just See Renji As A Friend (spoiler: no she doesn't)

As the manga continues passed the Soul Society arc (also known as the Rescue Rukia arc) written IR interactions drop significantly as their relationship remains as Extremely Close Friends (but like, actually)

Anime still pushes IR anyway through filler arcs + continual erasure of Orihime's moments, now with added IR implications in canon moments (i.e., Nel getting jealous of Rukia and thinking she's in a relationship with Ichigo during the beginning of the Arrancar arc - doesn't happen in the manga). IR shippers start clinging to non-canon material such as colorspreads and merch, character poems are misinterpreted to be about IR when they're not ("I wonder, can I keep up with it? The speed of the world, without you in it?" is often mistakenly said to be about Ichigo towards Rukia, I do believe it's actually about Zangetsu - this specific one happens later on, but you get the general idea), etc. etc.

Fade to Black movie drops, becomes known as "the IR movie" - then the mangaka is said to have said that Ichigo and Rukia were "more than friends, less than lovers" which somehow translates to them being lovers despite IR shippers' own wonky translation saying otherwise (this one genuinely confuses me to this day lmao)

Cycle continues

BOOM Lust Arc, Ichigo dies trying to protect Orihime and is then subsequently revived into a Hollow by her desperate pleas to save her combining with his want to protect her, only to become human again once he successfully kills what was threatening Orihime (in his mind)

Omega IH moment

IR shippers fuckin' hated it, makes the Lust Arc = Fail essay to justify why the Lust Arc actually totally definitely doesn't mean anything and IR will still totally happen

By this point they've believed IR is "basically confirmed" and they go back to hating on IH

Cycle continues, anime is still hyping up IR, though I do believe by this point they stopped downplaying Orihime/IH at least somewhat

Then we do a hard cut to the Quincy arc

Ichigo and Rukia barely interact. Are barely in the same panel. Or on the same page. Or even in the same location. Like, for the majority of the last arc.

IH moments skyrocket, as well as RR moments skyrocketing

Most notable moments for both: Renji thanking Ichigo for bring him and Rukia back together from the bottom of his heart; Ichigo bringing Orihime to fight alongside him against the last arc's main villain, something Ichigo had never done before with anyone else

IR shippers haaaaaate it, deny that anything that happens between IH and RR mean anything since IR is such a shoe-in for canon

Cut to the ending of Bleach, IH and RR are endgame because fuckin' duh

Cue infamous shit-fest from IR shippers

In essence, the breakdown that came from the ending came from a loooooooong history of IR shippers taking extensive, all-expenses-paid trips up and down The Nile about anything and everything that was slowly building up between IH and RR. They (and, to be clear, I mean "they" as in the specific IR shippers who acted like this, not all IR shippers) would also act pretty damn entitled too - they'd chase the mangaka Tite Kubo off of Twitter twice if I remember right, just cuz he wouldn't fuckin' lie and say that IR would be canon.

None of this being at all helped by the anime shitting all over Orihime's character at the crucial beginning episodes of Bleach, with them completely butchering her literal first appearance ever into something that quite literally portrays her as feeling the exact opposite feelings for Ichigo than the manga shows her feeling (and with Ichigo seeming annoyed with her presence, which is where you get the whole "Ichigo doesn't even like Orihime!" take from).

So ultimately the years of IR shippers feeling as confident as they did about IR becoming canon, shitting on IH both as a ship independent from the shippers as a "crackship" and as something that is stupid of anyone to ship and thus any shipper of IH inherently invites ridicule (of which they did a lot of), ignoring all of the signs that IR wasn't gonna happen to the point of taking words from the mangaka that outright stated even in their translation of his words they were not lovers and somehow twisting that to mean that they definitely are lover, taking any development Ichigo had as a character and making it somehow someway all about how he is nothing without Rukia and only Rukia because only Rukia ever helped him because romantic love is the only thing that could ever save Ichigo and Ichigo would totally abandon his still-living friends and family in the World of the Living to be Rukia's lieutenant (hmmm where has this theme cropped up before) - all of that culminated into the absolute STATE they fell into when it was revealed that all of their excuses for their shitty behavior meant even less than they already did because their ship didn't even become canon at the end of the day. You both had to be there and be glad that you weren't there lmao

so bleach used to be one of my favorite shows / mangas and i still have love for it but it’s LARGELY unsatisfactory when it comes to ichigo’s heroes journey ,,? does that make sense? i’m not going to get too technical, but he starts as a kid who’s got issues bc he lost his mom ( tragically ) and he’s living life with this chip on his shoulder. bla bla bla inciting action , transformation & boom . . . we’re on our journey with our magical aid. the soul society arc was one of the best pieces of story i have seen from any mangaka to date and that’s just bc it’s so interesting to me. you have this outlier ( ichigo ) busting into a stagnant world and completely shaking it to its foundations BY SHEER LOVE AND WILLPOWER, and his friends follow him for the same reasons! they clash with this society, meet people, understand their motives more, their lives. they make FRIENDS and ENEMIES and uncover heinous secrets, cruelties and injustice and actually stand up and say ‘ yo wtf? ? ‘

throughout the arc we see major figureheads ‘change sides ‘ / change their minds and stand up too and it’s just really cool to see the ripple effect ichigo has on things, he’s a shaker and a mover. this arc ends with aizen’s betrayal revealed and his promise to return and destroy soul society and BAM we’re led into another amazing arc : hueco mundo. now if you pay attention THIS is a continuation where we see ichigo sort of confronting himself more but also denying himself in this arc ( he did a lot of soul searching in the first arc do not get me wrong homie jilted a 10+ year process in three days ) but in this arc we see how far he really goes for the ones he calls family ( i.e orihime getting nabbed + ichigo DYING & returning in that one fight , to him agreeing to split his soul to achieve final getsuga ) which just leads me to feel like after / during this arc we see ichigo really come alive meeting people who are like him? ikkaku? renji? ganju?? like it’s so. . . . idk ! seeing him continuing to fight for a society like their attack dog that ( albeit made some changes ! ) is still so stagnant ?? forever ? his whole arc after soul society + hueco mundo is him dealing with his depression which i actually enjoy bc at least it’s touching on ? his ptsd ? pain? loss of HALF HIS SOUL. i think this is such a powerful moment in his life? idk what i wanted done with him but then we hit the fullbring arc and it was so unsatisfactory to me bc ?? he regains his soul reaper powers ONLY because they needed him to defeat ginjo on their behalf. they didn’t pool their power into a zanpakuto BEFORE ??? it’s just,,, idk !

and anytime after that all ichigo does is fight for soul society, all side plot non canon movies , all filler eps , thousand year blood war? ichigo is not even 18 ?? and soul society once again asks him for his help, it’s just unsatisfactory to me! i miss the first arc and maybe the second one where we take more of a psychological look at ichigo , his motivations , his pains and how that makes him act around the people he loves. where do you take a character like that after he’s gotten his friend back? does he continue to change the society from the inside out? does he quit ? does he stay? that’s sort of the catch 22 with him, you CANT realistically say ichigo would give up his power and carry on as if nothing ever happened bc that’s not who he IS , he has a savior complex / survivors guilt + ptsd. he’s obsessed with making sure EVERYTHING is okay and safe because he’ll make it ok and safe but he won’t tell you whatever’s going on with him bc that’s just too much and he can handle it. i’m getting ahead of myself

tdlr; ichigo loses his mother who he loved more than anything -> ichigo pulls into himself and keeps friends who he can relate to close but not too close, not ever too close -> he meets rukia and undergoes massive change to save his family , he lets her in -> rejects the responsibility over everyone at first but then is convinced that he can’t half-ass the job , all souls need him -> his new friend who he sees himself in ( and someone who taught him the ropes ) gets kidnapped and imprisoned and sentenced to death for ‘ helping him ‘ / saving his life / doing her fucking job -> his friends who love him so much were empowered just by being around ichigo and train to help him -> they all go to get their new friend back and save them from a grim fate, fall into a world with so many personalities , backstories, motivations, rules , fuckery that they can’t help but make friends and garner allies -> he lets people in, he has motivation and a goal and a reason to push past boundaries and overcome the odds and blow people away -> he fails and gets back up and wins and fails again and carries on , who is he if he can’t save his friends even at the cost of his own well-being -> cue his friends ready to push it to the limit too bc they love him and he has to realize he can’t be self sacrificial and expect his friends to not do the same -> eventually they save rukia and bring attention to oddity of her DEATH SENTENCE -> ichigo achieves his goal but can’t help but feel anger as aizen reveals his betrayal and plan for the world at large , he lives in the world and takes it SO personally -> MORE growth for ichigo as he literally plows through enemies without really going through proper inner channels , but needs the power so he has quick meetings and sheer force of wills himself through situations -> eventually makes the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of others and his family / friends , splitting himself away from himself. he’s harshly cutting away the piece that has made him feel alive, useful , for the first time in a long long time. and his father encourages it. where does that leave him? where would that lead you? after everything ? all the adventures, adversaries, people you met? you must say goodbye bc this was never a choice for you? this was like breathing, you’d cut yourself into smaller pieces if it met you could fill the bellies of those you loved. ichigo’s arc makes me fucking crazy because it’s like a snake that eats itself, it’s never ending , and tite tried to end it? he tried to say that there ‘ is no zanpakuto spirit , you’re always fighting alone , it’s self acceptance and love that’s the answer. ‘ and he gets another power up and everything’s wrapped up ( it’s not , lots are missing / dead but hey kubo was sick so ) and ichigo married and had a kid , he could finally rest and give up reaping — like WHAT

#ginjo: hey ichigo the SS is literally doing to you what they did to me. they’re using you. you’re theyre attack dog . for every problem! #ginjo : they monitor you and watch you and most distrust you! they wanted to kill you! #ichigo: yeah but if i don’t kill the hollows then who will #me laying face down on the floor: #like tite & kishimoto 🤝 having some good messages in the first few arcs then falling off the wagon. #i’m going to blame JUMP! and their hellish schedules and horrid working conditions they put their managakas thru #but yeah. ichigo’s arc is completely hinged on his psychological NEED to save others like he couldn’t save his mom ( he was a child ! ) #but that is ingrained in him! and he has the nasty hypocritical habit of wanting to be that rock to lean on for those he loves #but he refuses to weather things with others / he won’t cry with others / ask for help or comfort or anything #i love him to death but i wish kubo discussed his mental state and how that effected his relationship #with his zanpakuto MORE than he did after the first 3 arcs #like the depression and helplessness he felt in the fullbring arc #was so painful but it made sense! #but kubo’s solution was to just give him his powers back #in ways the last animated episode back in? 2012? 2016? idk was very satisfying #contradicting everything i’ve just said in this whole post but he’s standing on high in his shihakusho looking down #happily on all of his family & friends and the suns on his face and he smiles. #i HATE the tybw arc don’t talk to me about it i never finished it #* n #EUGH #delete later

Currently considering rewriting the entirety of my hero academia

#partner made me watch it. we're currently on episode seven because I won't stop complaining about plot holes #my vision is a 52 episode training arc in which deku and all might develop a tangible and meaningful teacher-student relationship #deku finally gets the paternal figure he lacks and all might finally finds reason to live and keep on going despite his terminal illness #there's a beach episode after everything is cleaned up and a Christmas episode in which all might gifts deku something of his #something deeply personal from back when he was starting out as a hero its all very emotional #then after that deku aces the written exams but fails the physical one and instead of rescue points he gets in thanks to all might #bc he recommends him. this greatly frustrates deku bc on one hand he got in but in the other hand he wasn't good enough to do it on his own #and also this gives a legitimate reason for his teacher to hate him bc rn that poor excuse of a human being hates him just bc #that's all i got so far #mutuals i hope that you'll still want to sit next to me at the cafeteria table now that i started watching anime again :(

hang on im thinking abt bellumbeck again

#salty talks #ph is a messy little game with enough wiggle room to really elevate some of the stuff it does just using what it gives us #like. i do think a lot abt what kind of stuff i personally would want to see in a ph anime or some other long form adaptation #and i always love the idea of specifically making sure to make it so that a LOT of the stuff with linebeck feeds into bellumbeck #like. make it really hurt slowly build up to it make it so much that his arc his development his feelings it all gets tangled in bellumbeck #idk i like bellumbeck i like the potential it has for linebeck n the potential is has to have to do with a lot of stuff throughout the game #screwing around with linebeck and bellum in aus is fun too bc it helps me figure out different facets to this too #esp when i choose to go at bellum more as a sentient character and all of that #anyways on the topic of like what happens directly after bellumbeck #the general idea i have is that it leaves linebeck knocked out (or smth) for a few days afterwards #as well as leaving him kinda just wounded all over (yknow the one agreed upon back scar but some other stuff in other places) #(idea is that hes very much in danger of death those few days vague idea is that link comes across him n keeps an eye on him til he wakes u #and when he does wake up hes very sick and weak (bottom line is that his body is treating it like a virus) #(trying to kill and expel and just fucking get rid of anything left in his body from the bellumbeck thing) #ofc he lives (this is notable) and has scars n shit (not certain on lasting effects tbh working on that) #one thing that comes to mind is weaker immune system but he already has a garbage immune system i think #could be some general immune system issue #i do try to make it closer to like. sickness or a physical ailment as opposed to magic crap #ive halfway considered making it so thst he kinda benefits from surviving (like some weird practical aftereffects #what comes to mind other than that is lasting pain in or pain caused by straining his back or smth #ive tried looking up real lifr long term effects of larger scars but i hardly find what im looking for #eh im still brainstorming that kinda stuff. i def am gonna hsr the ideas of lasting pain or pain in straining his back tho #like in the time after recovering he spends a fair bit of time testing how and how far he can stretch or strain his back #and trying to build up a resistance and like train it back up or smth but otherwise maybe a new vulnerability to like. light magic #brainstormin just thinking abt it theres a lot to thiink abt with bellumbeck #oh yeah edit on the thing abt linebeck surviving think of it like its rabies. on all accounts he should fucking die but he makes it

This might be a controversial opinion to some people but- I'm not reading Kimetsu no Yaiba, because I'm so fucking impressed with how Ufotable animated Demon Slayer that I want to be on the edge of my seat with every episode like how I started with the series.
