I love the idea of an au where Scar is something like a Frankensteins monster and Cleo is a zombie. They can somewhat relate to each other: Scars limbs feel numb and he feels like they're not his. He can't feel them sometimes. He feels constantly cold.

Scar also struggles with movement. Sometimes his legs get all tangled up and he trips, sometimes his hands shake. His body is all stitched up from other bodies and the different parts are responding a bit differently than Scar would want them to.

Cleo as a zombie is more stiff. They have trouble moving around sometimes. Their movements are slower than other people's. She's also cold most of the time and she's constantly in some amount of pain.

Whereas scar struggles with feeling nothing, cleo struggles with feeling too much stuff.

They relate to each other and they help each other.

They will draw the other a hot bath when they're doing worse than usual, cleo will help stitch scar back up when he gets hurt because of his clumsiness, Scar will massage cleos sore muscles that are all stiff and painful.

Sometimes Cleo will just lie in bed because it feels like moving would take a lot of energy.

Scar and Cleo being similar but also different. Them bonding over this and helping each other.

AU Synopsis:

Y/N is a shut-in hermit who doesnt rlly like interacting with anyone whatsoever who's rent has gone up and who's past roommate has moved out, so they, against their better judgement, put out an ad for the free bedroom in their apartment. SURPRISE you get two takers: a pair of brothers, Sundrop and Moondrop, who are both college students studying to be elementary school teachers, are willing to follow your half-mile-long list of rules, and they're ready to move in as soon as you're ready to receive them! Bonus points for them both seeming relatively sane!!

PLOT TWIST Sun and Moon are both rlly curious abt u despite how much u r rlly trying to avoid them and no matter how many times u make it clear that u just rlly do not want to b friends. JOKES ON U SUN FINDS U AT UR DAY JOB AND NOW UR LIFE WILL NEVER KNOW PEACE

the cafe u work at holds open-mic nights. Sun and Moon make a habit of participating, turns out theyre a couple of goofy ass theater kids with a knack for comedy. Bad news, they r DETERMINED to get u to join in their act. They call u out every time they get on the stage and the crowd loves it. U become a fan fave (u hate it) (u dont actually hate it thats just what u tell sun and moon) Sun comes to see u at ur job every day. He always tries to time his spot in line so that ur the one he gets to talk to (it takes u less than a week to memorize his order but u act like u dont know it bc u dont want him thinkin that ur friends or anything) Moon works at a 24hr gas station convinience store on th nightshift. u run into each other one night when ur buying a six pack of redbull. neither of u say anything but u can tell he's judging u. After that he starts making u lunches to take to work. if u "forget" (aka refuse) to take it with u he comes by and gives it to u himself like some kinda twiggy ass motherhen type mf. ur coworkers r definitely laughing at u behind ur back u can just feel it (theyre jealous and wish they had two cute dudes being all sweet n doting on them like u do)

hunted hybrids au rambles

this is an au me and @linkito made for our scarian RP, so just beware it’s focused solely on these two and it’s self-indulgent. CWs, i suppose, are themes of violence and dehumanisation of hybrids, and mention of self harm (feather plucking).

the basic premise is that hermitcraft’s code got attacked. think season 8 moon big and ground deteriorating underneath their feet, but it’s all more rapid and out of the blue. they don’t get a chance to investigate or prepare. it’s just. happening. so obviously, confusion and panic.

and then the hermits get scattered, to other worlds, seemingly indiscriminately and at random, as hermitcraft implodes. 

grian and scar end up in the same world, but it takes them about a week to realise. (a very horrible week, mind you.) their comms don’t work quite right here. 

now, where they’ve ended up is a very, very hybrid-hostile world. think rough people and black markets and criminal societies. think hunters and bloodhounds and phantom-dragons that screech through the night. think traps and watchtowers and rotting forests without a bird-chirp in them.

this world considers hybrids to be something to hunt. something to take apart and sell and gloat about. vexes are disliked and killed for sport, for  bragging rights. there’s no mercy in that. avians, though? avian wings are seen as a commodity, a decoration. something to make money out of and claim a different kind of prestige from. 

... did i mention this world is permadeath?

yeah.

so here we have these two hermits, and i think it’s important to note that the life games aren’t a thing in this universe. they never experienced a situation where they have to fight for their life. they find themselves here, stranded and alone, not knowing if their home even still exists or what happened to the others and if there’s anyone left out there who will be looking for them. 

maybe they try to look for help, used to friendly communities and little to no consequences.

maybe they get glares and smirks and weapons pulled on them.

maybe they realise the error they’ve made. maybe they realise that this is no place to seek help.

and then they run.

and all they can do is keep on running.

(the wood is rotten. the animals are scarce, next to none - have they even seen any? besides the wailing hounds? they can’t remember. the resources are hidden, stashed away in the communities they are desperate to get as much distance from as possible. the land is dark, and eerie, and unfamiliar. it’s late autumn, toppling into winter, air chilly and frosty, and they are so, so very underprepared.)

i think this is a good time to note that i chose violet-backed starling as the bird-base for grian in this au. because the wings are brilliant and bright and vibrant. they’re rare. expensive. very, very much wanted. (very hard to hide in a drab late-autumn.) 

scar and grian meet under dire circumstances: a hunter de-routed from going after scar by a call for backup, to a violet-winged avian—an information scar overhears—a trophy too precious to walk away from. this is the moment scar has the startling, horrifying realisation that grian is also trapped in this world. (he hears  him before he sees him, and he’d know that voice anywhere.) (he never heard him scream like this before—)

long story short, grian gets hurt, scar goes a little feral, and together they escape, to seek out shelter and supplies in a world that seems determined to strip everything away from them. it’s getting colder, and they have nowhere to go but deeper into the forest, hoping that they’ll eventually go far enough that the hunters will give up. (a feeble, impossible hope.) 

please think about them being so confused and destabilised over the realisation that they’re no longer alone. the complicated feeling of relief of having someone familiar and safe there, and the absolutely nauseating terror of having them there, because it means they’re stuck in this nightmare, too. the struggle to keep each other alive and sane through it. the way how something so normal and taken for granted gets turned upside down—and gentle touch now feels so unfamiliar. (oh how they need that softness, in a world that is only ever harsh and cruel.)

the (so far) two drawings i made for this au are:

1. them curled up into each other, wrapped up in a blanket, trying to keep warm and survive the night. please note that scar is pressed against grian’s back, protecting the part of him that now feels the most vulnerable. (grian’s wings are a huge target. a beacon beckoning the hunters closer.) grian used to sleep (on those rare moments when he actually allowed himself to stop and nap) with his wings pressed against hard, rough, cold edges, just to hide them. just to make them less visible, just to make himself a little less vulnerable. (his feathers are a mess.)

2. on that note. the second drawing touches on grian’s complicated feelings about his wings that come from all this trauma. because all those pretty feathers do is drag danger to them. because he used to love them and they used to be his pride and joy and they let him feel free, but he can’t even fly anymore (the sky is too open; there are too many airborne hunters and watchtowers). and it’s these damned feathers that cause him and, more importantly, scar to get hurt and have to run and run and run even when they feel like they can’t anymore. 

grian is so upset with his feathers. they feel like a curse. they feel like a burden. they feel like he’ll never not be terrified as long as he has them. he’s tired and in pain and cornered and desperate, and he wants them gone. and so what if he cries. what if he starts plucking them out, urgent, frustrated, panicked sharp yanks, and—

and scar is there, and he’s shushing him and telling him to stop. telling him that his wings are beautiful, and they’re his, and scar won’t let anyone else touch them, ever. it’s okay. it’s okay it’s okay it’s okay. (nothing is okay.)

This anxious shit head is pretty similar to the btas version, but that's not really saying much considering how little lore btas gives on Jervis.

After college, he managed to get a job at Wayne Tech, where he worked alongside Alice. I'm unsure of Alice's job at Wayne tech in btas, but in my AU, Alice is also a scientist, working alongside Jervis in quite a few projects. Jervis would, of course, start developing feelings for Alice. He would try and do the right thing and not pursue Alice due to her already having a boyfriend.

The whole breakup thing happens with Alice and her boyfriend like btas, and basically everything else afterward is like the show.

I will probably flesh out his lore more later, but right now, I'm blanking on ideas.

AU idea that came to me due to a headache #1: Halucinor AU

Hiccup was knocked out by the Monstrous Nightmare in the beginning of HTTYD 1. HTTYD 1, 2 and 3 are all just him having lucid dreams.

(HTTYD 3 is also more fantasy-esque than the rest because Gothi gave him stronger meds while he was in his coma.)

To Hiccup, he suddenly passed out during a council meeting post HTTYD 3, due to overwork and stress, and wakes up to something oddly bright…is he dead?

Hiccup wakes up, truly, for the first time in two months.

It’s been two months after the dragon attacked him and caused burn scars across his leg, making it lame, as well as aches and pains in his shoulders.

He almost cries upon seeing his 15-year-old self in a mirror Gothi hands him, and she wordlessly pats his back. His father gives him an earful about being more careful and banning him from leaving the house - not like he could go anywhere else with his injuries - before needing to rush off because of a raid.

Of course, Hiccup being Hiccup, tries to tame a dragon - to realise that no, it was just the dragons in his dreams being different. The ones out here…they’re more violent. Intelligent still, but clearly more primal and interested in animalistic things over kinship. They cannot be tamed. They can be reasoned with, but there is very little reason that will make them stop their carnage.

He stops after a Nadder spine from the dragon he’d called Stormfly in his dreams almost paralyses his arm permanently.

There probably still is the Queen, out there…but he doesn’t want to think about that. Not with the way his arms ache and he’s plagued by not being able to separate the dreams that plague him from reality.

and even far away from Berk, where other nests should be, the dragons remain hostile and suspicious, breaking any hope he had to end the war.

He’s awake, he’s 15, the dragons really DO just want to kill you, and everybody still hates him. Yay!

But his father is alive, and he’ll take any positives he can get.

It’s a wonder he’s not gone insane. Yet. The gods are cruel indeed.

(Valka is actually dead. There is no hidden sanctuary, her dead body was found by Stoick next to Hiccup’s crib. At least, so Hiccup was told by Gobber - and the icy cavern truly doesn’t exist, but a trading island stands in its place. Hiccup decides he’ll pretend it’s just somewhere else - one of may little white lies to make life more bearable.)

Hiccup tries to cope. Heavy emphasis on tries.

It’s hard to come back to hell on Earth when you’ve been soaring in relative heaven.

Even more so when said heaven doesn’t exist except in your head.

Sinful Circus AU Info Dump: Abstractions!

Finally, some serious AU stuff! Told ya I'd get to it. Today's ramble is the information on how exactly Abstractions work within this AU. But first, what do they look like?

Well I used Kaufmo and Queenie as my examples, so here they are!

In this, the crazy eyes are based off of the colors of the character that abstracted- and they have the vague shape of who they were

Abstraction happens when a prisoner in the real world dies, making the code that their mental was using corrupted and therefore turning against itself becoming malware as a result. Malware is the only thing that can severely affect the AI in this world. Sure, human code is glitched when coming into contact with it, but it never kills them

The reason Pomni damaged Abel so badly with the knife she had was because the Influence can corrupt and change the code of ANYTHING into malware, allowing the item to damage AI, something Pomni nor Abel were aware of when the event took place

But then what do the Abstractions do? Well, they're left to fight amongst themselves within solitary confinement- or 'the cellar' as the digital circus prisoners nicknamed it as. If one breaks enough rules, they're sent into the cellar for a little bit to get harmed by the Abstractions. Sure, they won't ever die there- but they were wish they could during that time

Characters I think that have been down there was Kaufmo before he himself abstracted, Jax because he was a LOT more reckless first coming here, and maybe Caine at some point as well. None of them talk about what went down there. You might ask why Pomni's not in this group, well that's because Abel is aware of Pomni's medical history and recorded crimes as well as her severe mental illness thanks to the coders giving him such, so he knew that she can't exactly control her actions- although she WAS still punished for such a thing

The Influencer is implied to have originally came FROM the cellar, especially with her abilities, however as to how she is the way she is isn't known just yet

I gotta get this outta my brain.

I keep imagining what could have been if like IDW Starscream, ruler of Cybertron, lost his leadership position earlier on and his sentencing was to join Megatron on the Lost Light. The idea from the new leadership on Cybertron is that Megatron would get rid of Starscream and so they could just kill two birds with one stone. Starscream lingers mostly to the more isolated parts of the ship, barely interacting with anyone, but somehow always being dragged to the brig for something going wrong on the ship. It gets to the point where Starscream doesn't even come out of the brig holding cells when it's offered to him, he just wants them to leave him there to rust. Of course that information is quick to make it back to Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, and Megatron. They're a mix of trying to figure out what to do in this situation. Rodimus I could see him either being a-ok with Starscream staying there or he could believe they need to work at Starscream since Megatron was just as bad as Starscream and he turned out okay, Ultra Magnus is more on the 'leave him there' side given Starscream's criminal record, but Megatron is mixed about what to do. Megatron doesn't enjoy Starscream being on the ship, being in the space that he managed to make for himself and finally begin to work on himself. But he also knows that he himself wasn't good to Starscream and feels a sense of deja-vu hit him when he hears from Ravage that Starscream is self-isolating and wasting away. Similar to all those years ago when Starscream led the Decepticons for 3 years only for the crew to resort to cannibalism. It's a chance for Megatron to do the same situation, but differently. To show Starscream that the ex-warlord has changed. So Megatron goes to the brig and decides to speak with Starscream alone. [Sorry but this idea became too big for a single post, I'll link the second part which is the little snippet I wrote for this.]

i hereby present, the au i thought i would never actually do anything with bc i thought it up purely bc i like fairytales and drawing critters and didnt think anything through beyond that: the Sheep-Reader x Wolves-Sun/Moon au!

where Reader is a small, somewhat outcast sheep from a small isolated Sheep Town in the North who has always had dreams to finding some nice friendly town in the South where they could settle down and sell their wares- clothes, trinkets, and accessories made from their own wool! One day they meet two 'sled dogs' that have been wandering almost their whole lives, doing odd jobs here and there, and, inspired by the friendly one's stories and genuine kindness, they hire the two to be their guides/bodyguards on their journey to the South! The world was much too big and dangerous for one sheep to travel on their own, afterall; even if some hungry stranger didn't attack the sheep, the loneliness of the journey would surely end them on its own. But now, with two new friends at their side and hope in their heart, dear sheep-Reader is more than ready to make their dream a reality <3 (the two sled dogs r not sled dogs) (they're wolves) (lol)

Sleep demon Grian rambles <3

Turns out that "one day" is today. (i love my enablers @linkito and @writing-and-worrying <3)

so. alright. here we go. the au rambles :3 (bonus art at the end)

grian is a sleep demon, and at the start of this au, this means that he exists only in the dreams/the dreamscape. he's a chaos gremlin, as per usual, and he usually thrives on giving people nightmares.

he meets scar in scar's dreams.

he immediately latches onto him, finding scar interesting (and his reactions hilarious). he loves to spook him and all that, but the more time he spends in scar's dreams, the more something in him shifts.

at some point, scar notices him. this recurring character that always slides into shadows, watching. the giggling that sounds off from terrifying places. and scar, well, he is scared, of course he is, but he's also intrigued. there's something at play here, and he's going to figure it out.

while this all happens, scar isn't getting much rest. nightmares aren't good for that. which means, he's spending more time sleeping. which means grian spends more time bugging him.

when they finally meet properly in scar's dreams and start hanging out, grian finds that scar is nice to him. it's something he doesn't expect, doesn't quite know how to deal with. (scar's supposed to be scared. antagonistic. upset. annoyed. not this—not bright smiles and gentle tone, soft giggles and kindness.)

grian finds that he's actually been feeling lonely this whole time. and he doesn't quite know how to process it or what to do about it. (it just makes him clingier to scar tbh.)

and, here's the thing: grian wasn't always a dreamscape-only dwelling demon. he used to have a body. he used to have access to both realms. unbeknownst to him (he doesn't remember any of this), at some point in the past, he made a conscious decision to stay in the dreamscape world. (it felt safer to him.) trauma, memory loss, etcetc. he's not aware of these things.

all they know is that grian's lonely and stuck and scar wants to help him. he figures out a potential way - a summoning spell for demons. that should work, right?

so. he tells mumbo (they live together mkay) that he's going to sleep. he tells him to make the summoning circle. he tells him they're going to bring back a li'l demon guy while he sleeps :3

scar then explains to grian, in the dream, that he's going to be okay. that he can live with them, that they're going to summon him out of the sleep realm.

and they do summon him.

scar told him it's going to happen, but grian doesn't know what it means. he's not prepared for how overwhelming it'll feel, to be in an unfamiliar place and to have a body. on top of that, there's a tall, darkly dressed stranger (mumbo).

and so grian gets summoned, and maaaaybe he ends up having a small panic attack about it all <3 (and mumbo possibly panics in return. and scar's still asleep—)

aNYWAY.

grian still doesn't really remember ever having a body before. but now that he's out of the dreamscape, his skin is littered with scars he has no memory of, and everything's a little bit scary and a whole lot new, and he doesn't know how to navigate the realm or how to take care of himself. (he doesn't realise his physical body has needs, like eating or sleeping, and neither do scar and mumbo for a while, assuming that maybe he doesn't do those things simply because he's a demon.)

imagine grian getting more and more confused the more exhausted he is, unaware that sleep is the solution. things get blurry, his thoughts get heavy, he's groggy and sluggish... it all freaks him out, until eventually he crashes, curled up. (the others tuck him in and watch over him.)

basically, lots of opportunities for comfort. (and for them all being clueless idiots mhm.)

another thing to imagine: grian is awake and scar goes to sleep. and scar's dreams suddenly feel so quiet and peaceful and empty. he hates it.

one more thing to throw out there: grian trauma and his scars and memory loss, right? grian gets summoned naked, and so mumbo immediately gets a glimpse of all of his scars. maybe at some point, he has a hushed, concerned conversation about it with scar. about how the scars around grian's wrists look like they come from magical shackles. (maybe he recognises those in particular because scar has some similar markings on his skin from something in his past.) and there's a bite mark. (mumbo's a vampire and so he's familiar with how those look, and this gets him very concerned for grian.) and maybe there's a different scar shape that scar recognises at some point or another.

fun fact, there's a scar over grian's chest from when someone wanted to check if demons have a heart :3

also. consider this. grian's a demon. he has claws and horns and sharp edges and bat wings and everything, but. but his hair. his hair is so pale and so very soft.

OH BOY DOES HE HAVE HOBBIES

He likes collecting "old tech" stuff, like record players, rotary phones, old cameras, radios, typewriters, and all that stuff. He has this hobby because it's cool as hell, and also bcus I have 4 old record players and a few replica rotary phones (along with other old things) and I think it's really neat and it's my character so I get to project onto him.

He also obviously loves reading, he loves horror books of course, but he's also probably a sucker for fantasy, or dramas, and the kinda books that really focus on the main characters own flaws and how it effects people around them and the plot.

Jon definitely sews, I'm not sure if it counts as a hobby though, as it's kinda done out of necessity, cause where the hell is he gonna buy a scarecrow costume that already has all the things he needs. Although with how many different Scarecrow costumes his indecisive ass has, I'd say it's become a hobby.

He also might draw, he's probably not like a full-blown artist, but he definitely doodles "creepy" things from time to time.

RAMBLE TIME:

Since I rambled about the timeline thing uh yesterday I had a dumb idea of what he look like if he was in the 2000s BEFORE the present. Jasper changed a lot after Benny was forced to move out (well possibly kicked out cuz Bernice is only defending her "husband") and he seems a bit silly yet sorta manly throughout the years.

Jasper was the next person to move out after turning 18. He was reading to have his place, somewhere in Cleveland, and have his own family so he moved out with his girlfriend before marriage while Bethany, the sister, still lives with Bernice. (Keep that in mind Bethany is still a child [age 8 to 10] during that time.)

January 1st, 2001: 3 years later Jasper returns to Piqua along with his wife and their kid, Kaley/"Kipper" Krupp. The family moved somewhere close to Bernice's location as a surprise and boom. They met again, unfortunately, Jasper didn't meet Benny again. Bernice warns him about it. He didn't understand why but Bernice convinced (well lied, or sum) him that there's nothing to worry about him.

She told Jasper that anything related to Benny should not be spoken about, including in front of Kaley/Kipper. Bernice didn't wanna allow her grandkid to interact with Benny without any context whatsoever. But Jasper agreed and maybe thought his mom was worried and overprotective towards the child.

December 25th, 2001: Just Christmas. Nothing else but Jasper on the other hand wasn't sure why Bernice didn't wanna allow him to interact or FaceTime Benny. Maybe it's her worrisome? Is she hiding something? Not sure. Jasper soon tried his best to not bring up the topic and enjoy the holiday. Hoping he can see the full reason of it.

I just realized I never into detail about my disabled Orihime hcs, oops.

In my au, Orihime suffers from chronic pain and fatigue post winter war. She healed so many people that she subconsciously started using her own life force when her reiatsu ran out and ended up in a week long coma. Even after several weeks of recovery and physical therapy, the ache in her bones didn't go away and everyone had to accept the fact that is is now here for good.

Orihime was lowkey banned for an entire year from practicing her powers on her own out of fear she will accidentally use her life force again. Chad was both there to be a training partner and lookout should she show signs of self destruction. On her average days she just needs leg braces and stretches. On the hardest ones she needs a wheelchair. Those days are the heaviest to go through. They make her feel like a burden cause her school isn't wheelchair friendly so she ends up missing lessons and relying on her friends for homework.

Her pains can come out of nowhere. One week she can walk freely without any help and the next morning she can't get out of bed from the pains. Sometimes it's in the beginning of the day and other times it's right down the middle. It became difficult to find a job, but thankfully the boss at ABCookies was compassionate towards her situation and the bakery was already wheelchair friendly.

Orihime used to be a decent dancer before her diagnoses and she deeply, deeply misses being able to dance without a "timer". It's one of the main things she mourns the most.

Orihime lets all her friends decorate her crutches with stickers of their choice. Her favorite is the limited audition chappy sticker Rukia gave her.

Uryu knitted hand grips for all of Orihime's equipment when she complained how the rubber hurt hands. She cried when he showed them to her as birthday gift.

Orihime can't use painkillers cause have a huge addiction risk, especially for her thanks to her alcoholic parents and her lack of emotional tability. She instead does physical therapy and uses cream that relaxes tightened muscles.

Kisuke build Orihime her wheelchair personally. It's easily foldable and moves in response to her spiritual pressure and even can have a remote control attached to it on the absolute worst days.

He also invented a type of wheelchair that can float by adding two tanks contained with pure spiritual pressure in the back. But that one heats up easily and can burn her skin so it;s still in development during TYBW.
