Kikyo was very much more loving towards kids and took care of them always.
This was a new low inukag and especially kagome as she saw moroha in an episode then repeatedly asks who she was when she abandoned her for 14 years.

I feel like me and the rest of the fandom are being gaslighted by Sessrinners and the existence of Yashahime itself when they keep on crying out that Sessrin was “obviously the intended canon from the start,” and “who else was going to be the mother?” And like…no? Before the existence of that dreaded Drama CD (which itself isn’t canon and just satire) there wasn’t a single hint or shippy subtext pointing toward Sessrin ever becoming a thing in the future. I legit went back and skimmed through all the episodes (even the Sunrise invented filler ones) and chapters the two appear in and no interaction between the two could even be taken as ambiguous, it’s all very strictly platonic. Rin didn’t even have so much a puppy love crush on Sesshomaru, she was excitedly shipping him with Kagura and yet shippers, Sunrise, Shiina and Rumiko wanna tell me she was an intended love interest all along and Sessrin antis were “just too blind to the truth?”
This is literal fandom gaslighting. The only possible hint that exists in the OG anime that I might give shippers is Takemaru in the 3rd movie comparing both Kagome and Rin to Izayoi, but 1: It’s not any actual shippy interaction coming from either Sesshomaru’s or Rin’s parts and only exists from the observations of an outside observer who mind you, is currently clearly losing his mind and 2: All the movies are non-canon, so just like the Drama CD they don’t count. (Though in retrospect realizing that Sumisawa directed all the movies like how he wrote the Drama CD and directed Yashahime it most likely was intended to come off as a “hint,” it’s definitely not an obvious one that normal non-pedos who don’t have lolicon brain rot would ever pick up on, I know I didn’t my first time around and was frankly shocked during Yashahime’s initial announcement that Rin was actually being considered a serious candidate for the twins mother)
So let me get this straight, all the shipping “hints” that even exist for Sessrin are all from non-canon material? Not the actual original manga or show itself? And Sessrinners still wanna insecurely scream at the top of their lungs on how “Sessrin is canon” and the fandom has to be forced to accept it? No, fuck that! I know gaslighting when I see it!
I agree wholeheartedly - through Yashahime, we're told by Sunrise and affiliates that the only valid interpretation of the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Rin is a romantic one. We're told that it was inevitable that they should get together, that there was no other option for the two of them, and that this is a GOOD development instead of a regression. If we point out that a romance between the two was unsupported in the source material, and that the interpretations we took from it were much more platonic, we're gleefully dogpiled by shippers who insist that WE'RE the ones who were drawing those platonic interpretations from nowhere. Pointing to specific scenes and interactions that indicate Rin is not Sesshoumaru's equal, that she obeys him like the child she is, that Sesshoumaru plays the role of a surrogate father, are points that are dismissed without counterevidence and a handwave, if not ignored altogether. There is no reason to believe that these two characters aren't meant to be a couple someday, you're just looking at this through the lens of WESTERN morality, and antis are committed to an insane moral standard.
What are you talking about? I don't see a gaslight. You're just crazy.
Honestly, at this point, it's a wonder that we bother to back up our opinion of the matter at all anymore. Obviously actual evidence from the manga doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what you can SHOW actually happened in the story and how your interpretation can be drawn reasonably from the text. All that matters is whether a writer at Sunrise with a VERY clear bias toward depicting these types of grooming relationships managed to get HIS interpretation widely distributed or not. Because if you're part of the official entity that officially OWNS the IP, your opinion matters more, I guess.
RT shrugging and yielding to Sunrise's version of the relationship certainly doesn't help matters. Though she HAS (at last) come out and said that she personally viewed Sesshoumaru as a parental figure to Rin, I don't think that she ever cared one way or the other whether people shipped them. I speculated a while back that the reason we never got her stance on the matter sooner was because she didn't want to alienate ANY of her Sesshoumaru fans, because him being one of her more popular characters meant that her voicing an opinion on his relationship with Rin might mean some people would stop reading/watching Inuyasha altogether and it would hurt her bottom line. I'm more convinced than ever that this is the case, because she out-and-out AVOIDED questions about Sesshoumaru getting together with Rin when she's older up until after the first season of Yashahime, which she would only do because she wasn't going to make them a couple, but she knew that her friends at Sunrise might want to take a crack at it at some point and she didn't want to close that door. She only went ahead and finally gave her own perspective when it was clear the show was a major flop after the mother reveal, and there was nothing left to lose by trying to recapture some of her lost Sesshoumaru fans by showing them a little solidarity.
Not sure how successful a move that was, given I know a LOT of folks who are still very upset and not buying anything Inuyasha branded anymore. I guess the only ones who will really know for sure are RT and Sunrise, as reflected in their plunging profits.

The Inuyasha subreddit is disgusting. Full of Sessrib shippers and people who see nothing wrong with it. If you try to talk about it being grooming, then you're ostracized from the community.

I think rumiko’s art is underrated. Surprised how it turned out to be in my top 5 manga artists. I usually like a mature shoujo style but I grew really fond of Rumiko’s cute shoujo style. Especially with how Kagome and Sesshoumaru are drawn

Just a gentle reminder to anyone who needs it:
Rumiko Takahashi did not write Hanyou no Yashahime. Therefore it's not one of her works.
She designed the main characters, but the story and plot (or lack there of) is 100% done by one of Sunrise's writers. Katsuyuki Sumisawa. The show falls into the same category as the Inuyasha movies. Entertaining, (sometimes) but not canon.

Do Sesshomaru & Rin have a romantic relationship in the OG?? No, they don't. They are important to each other and It's a special bonding beyond parental or romantic relationship. He saved her and she made him become a better person (demon). It's beautiful! If someone think the love relationship began when she was 7-8, it’s sickening!
Is it possible for Rin to become his wife after growing up? It's just one of the possibilities in the OG universe. Sesshomaru left Rin in the village and gave her a freedom to choose her own future. He didn't raise her or groom her based on the OG's ending. He just occasionally visited her. But it's possible that they develop a love relationship after Rin grows up. After meeting someone as perfect as Sesshomaru, I don't think it's easy for her to love a normal human guy. Sesshomaru is strong and cool. He's perfect, admit it! Whether it's an unhealthy relationship, it highly depends on how the fan fics or fan arts are depicted. People assumes Rin's mindset stayed at 7-8 years old so their relationship will be imbalanced or unhealthy. But it's possible that she becomes a strong and independent woman like Sango, Keada or Kagome in a healthy AU. And in fact, she's surrounded by role models like that. And in that case, it's her own right to choose whether she follows Sesshomaru or not. I did read a lot of well-written fac fics like that. But Yashahime failed to give her a good grown up image, the show ruined all the lovely characters. Any Underage sex and relationship fan fics & pics is a BIG NO. People should be caught because of that. And seriously, report them! But there's nothing wrong to have headcanon about grown up characters developing a love relationship. Even it's a mary-sue imagination, it's fine. Sesshomaru is one of my favourite character in the OG. I feel heard-broken to see him being accused of a pedo. I hate how Yashahime depicts him as a terrible father and possible groomer in grey area. But their unique bonding in the OG is still my favourite. Just throw your hate to the shit show but not the character or each other, ok? And if you truly love the characters or a ship, just don't make it that sickening! At least draw her as an adult, stop making those shits!

The post that was rebloged yesterday reminded me of something I forgot.
Kagome fans often say to the antis that “Sunrise destroyed Kagome’s character. Read the manga! She’s different!” This is one of the most annoying things I read to defend this bland character.  The only thing Kagome has changed is her temperament. In the Manga, she actually has a lower temperament than in the anime. Of course there is less “sit boy” too, but she abuses her power over him when it comes to her hurt feelings.
So what if she has a lower temperament in the manga since that’s the only trait that has changed in her personality. Her dialogues, her scenes with Inuyasha, her personality is the same as in the original.
A lower temperament will not make me like her. I hated her to core literally to core. I have to admit that I owe such a strong hatred towards her to her fans. They have made my hatred of Kagome to this day.
I really think this line of defense is as pathetic as about  is for her age. Yes, I find it pathetic!
Really Kagome fans have nothing to complain about.Sunrise portrayed Kagome as a sweet, innocent, disinterested attitude. I’ll say it. Sunrise hates Kikyou and favors Kagome.
Sunrise literally changed everything about Kikyou, her personality, her dialogues,  InuKik scenes.
Literally everything! Sunrise is biased about Kikyou and you can see that they hate her and make Kagome their best and Kikyou is depicted as “cold bitch" as if she doesn’t care about InuYasha and her relationship.
Anime didn’t stop me from loving her. I love the Kikyou manga version and its anime counterpart, however many people consider her a terrible character, it is not surprising because ANIME presented Kikyou in the worst light. It should be so. Kikyou would be hated and loved by Kagome. They succeeded. “Congratulations Sunrise”. These are my conclusions and first thoughts after reading the manga many years ago after watching the anime.
All I can tell you is this.
"It is Kikyou fans who have a greater right to complain about what Sunrise did to the Kikyou character! AND INUKIK SCENES”
Really in the manga, Kikyou shows concern for Inuyasha and Inuyasha shows concern for Kikyou. Their love is clearly shown in the manga when the feeling is not shown in the anime. Inuyasha looks at her with pity and Kikyou doesn’t seem to care about Inuyasha’s feelings either, but that has all been changed.
Kikyou never shouted at Inuyasha Kikyou didn’t look at him coldly and indifferently Kikyou never took the InuYasha knife out Inuyasha never made Kikyou hug him. Kikyou never shot Kagome’s arrow to take her shikon no tama.
That’s not all I have mentioned from here. I noticed that Sunrise left scenes where Kikyou was behaving like in the manga (Scene from Tsubaki) - I mean cold and hateful as if she didn’t care about anyone.
After reading the manga, it’s easy to tell who Sunrise changed and they hates. They LOVE Kagome and HATE KIKYOU.

I have moved on but I refuse to sit and watch some jerk put dirt on my name all because they didn't like my personal opinion on their fav manga author. And validation from whom?
Tumblr media
I am free to dislike Rumiko and it's not over the top. But the troll who attacked me isn't? I have moved on but I'm not going to sit here at let some troll change the narrative to deflect and paint me as something different because they got in their feelings. It was a classic Red herring and Non sequitur.
Tumblr media
This is gaslighting at its finest. How do you know that I haven't volunteered at a community organization, anti-child grooming protest or soup kitchen? And if I haven't...that suddenly means I don't care? I can't imagine being this offended over your fav. She is not a good person. I stand by it, and I said what I said.
You know what....one last thing before I go back to reddit and facebook instead of this apparent shithole
Follow me on twitter: tallbutsmoll   i’m really not on their nowadays but feel free to DM here for main tumblr. Suprise! I have nothing to hide. I can make a new tumblr and post what I want as much as I please.
Also, while I have your attention, I want to give shoutout...check thegreatrefuge podcast! mc brooks is dope.
Btw...I will be deleting this post soon...probably tomorrow or sometime over the weekend because I don’t want to get flooded with trolls. And with all disrespect...there are way too many loons in this fandom, pro and sadly some antis alike. And yes, a just few is a few too many! But who am I really kidding? Looking back...it's always been toxic. Takes me back to days of gaiaonline. I was minding my own business. At first, I thought I found a safe space to vent my frustrations but clearly not. Instead, words were put into my mouth and wild assumptions were made. Thanks, sweet61:) Moving on...

Anti's: Rumiko Takahashi doesn't approve of Sessrin. She views them as father and daughter. It was perverted men that twisted their relationship into something sexual.
Rumiko Takahashi: Rin and Sesshomaru fvcked in the mokomoko. I told Shinna to write that. It was absolutely necessary for my artistic vision for them to fvck in the mokomoko.

This is what antis said that Rumiko said:
Tumblr media
And this is what she actually said:
Tumblr media
A little of reaching and projection right there, eh? She didn't even mention Inuyasha.
Rumiko said, long ago, that in her heart Inuyasha WAS complete, however, because Sumisawa worked in the project, she felt she could leave it to it. Was and However.
So no, Rumiko was not refering to Inuyasha, neither said that Yashahime is not canon (it's canon, no matter how many rivers you cry about) She was saying that she will not write any sequel to Urusei Yatsura or any of her completed works. She said that Inuyasha WAS complete, but that she changed of opinion after learning that Sumisawa was the one doing the sequel spin off.
Rumiko called Yashahime "the continuation of Inuyasha", said that "checked over the scripts" and outright promoted Hanyo no Yashahime as "Inuyasha's next generation" in her new manga, Mao.
