maybe this is a hot take but if you're writing yang xiao long into a modern au (or otherwise non-violent non-sci-fi setting) then theres no reason to give her a hyper advanced robotic arm prosthetic. its okay to just let yang have no prosthetic it wont kill you i swear

(Slightly) more organized thoughts on the V8 finale.
tl;dr I think the finale had some issues.
I’ll start this off by emphasizing again that this is my opinion, so read something else if you can’t handle negative criticism of RWBY. I say this because too often people in this FNDM can’t handle a difference in opinion without insulting or patronizing others, and I want none of that.
Now, RWBY’s general structural issue is a lack of time to fulfill all their ambitions, and they usually tend to neglect one aspect a bit more than others. In volumes 7 and 8 this proved to be quite a problem, because they wanted to tell quite a complicated story while introducing a fairly large amount of new and returning characters. I very much like the story they told in these volumes, but it must be said that the development and focus on the regular cast, and team RWBY in particular, has suffered for it. It’s not a deal breaker for me personally, but I do think it’s an issue.
So when I saw the finale episode only had about 20 minutes, I figured the best course of choice for RWBY would be to focus on the Atlas-only plots, and leave RWBY & co’s stories for the next volume, which by all accounts seems to be focused only on their character. And credit where credit is due, this is what RWBY decided to do with this finale. This doesn’t really solve the underlying issue that the main cast has yet again been relegated to such a minor role in their own show, but I can live with it.
I still do have a problem with how RWBY’s role in this finale was handled, and forgive me because this might be the least well-explained part of this review. The best way to describe it would be that, though I know I’m watching team RWBY, they don’t feel present in the finale? I struggle to put my finger on it, if it’s more an issue of direction or execution, but something about RWBY’s fight felt off for me.
By comparison, when I think of the episode before, I don’t have this issue. While the way Yang fell isn’t RWBY’s best execution, the reactions of RWBY to that fall worked quite well. There was individual focus on Yang falling, Blake screaming and raging at it, Weiss’s heart breaking into two, Ruby falling into more despair - the tragedy works because of it. I don’t feel the same about the finale, RWB fall almost as if they’re passerby rather than the main characters.
Again, maybe this is just me, maybe I’ll change my mind later. Whatever.
I think Cinder is the one I’m most satisfied with. She seems in character, she acts a lot like she did in her confident state during Beacon, and I did get the impression Salem knows Cinder is lying to her. I admit that I did not expect this direction for Cinder, it seemed like the right spot to have her break free from Salem, but it’s too early for me to call where her arc is going to.
The only nitpick I have with Cinder is how she offed Arthur. I felt like it could have a little more focus? I get that his death is supposed to feel completely inconsequential, but I wish there was just a little bit more there. Again, only a nitpick.
Vine - I think my opinion on Vine’s death is quite unpopular. It felt too last minute, without enough setup. See, while killing Harriet here would have its own set of issues, she was well developed enough where you could actively feel for her, while also expecting a possible death. I can’t say the same about Vine; Vine is only a teensy bit more developed than Elm, which isn’t a lot. He’s making a huge sacrifice, but the lack of character makes him seem expendable by design. It feels like the writers put all their efforts into threatening Harriet’s life, realized last minute that actually they could a lot more with her character (good call), so they shoved in Vine in her place because they still needed a bomb sacrifice.
On the flip side, three of the Ace Ops surviving and proving once and for all they broke away from Ironwood too, with Harriet and Marrow still alive - that is good. I’m not sure what more they’re planning to do with their characters, but it’s preferable to far worse alternatives I can imagine. We’ll see.
Then there’s Penny. sigh
I’m not sure what I can add that P5, bell or cosmokyrin, and probably a few others haven’t already said, but I don’t think it was well written. The whole body-thing in “Creation”, sure, I can accept that was a difference of interpretation. This? This whole, let’s resurrect Penny, develop her immensely as a character, reaffirm her autonomy multiple times over, avoid multiple deaths, only to die like this?
I know the common comparison people make here is with V3, and I can see where people are coming from. After all, Pyrrha and Penny’s deaths were impactful and tragic there, and most people agree that was well written. What’s the difference here? Some differences in circumstance are worth visiting here.
Penny of the Beacon era, lovable character that she was already, was not the most developed character. At the end of the day, most of what we knew of Penny then was in relation to Ruby - we knew Ruby cared for her a lot, we knew why they bonded, so we had setup as to why her death would impact the Fall so much. It works, because it gave enough focus on her for us to care about, but not overly so where the shocking factor of the Fall wouldn’t work.
With Pyrrha, I think we all knew the signs were there at the end of the day. I’d argue that Pyrrha’s very conception as a character lead to her death, she was just slightly too perfect for us not to expect a tragedy to occur. Importantly, her major arc in V3 sets us up to her death - through her conversation with Ozpin’s gang and Jaune, the introduction of Ember and the soul transfer device, killing Penny - by the time Pyrrha dies you’re prepared for it, and it still hurts. Even if the tragic scenario presented (losing Pyrrha because of the soul transfer) wasn’t the one used, dying because she tried defending the use of those powers from Cinder made sense. It was enough of a switch you weren’t bored because you expected everything to go to plan, but it wasn’t too drastic where you felt completely unprepared for what would happen.
The trouble with how Penny’s death was handled here, is in part because they just kept pushing us to the edge, making us worry about one tragic scenario, another way for Penny to die, only to alleviate our fears - only to kill her off anyway in a completely separate way. It happened so often in these two volumes, when we were already fresh off recognizing Penny wasn’t dead in V3, that rather than feeling like an expected death that is tragic, is feels like they toyed with out perception constantly only because they could. When you raise and lower death flags over and over in such a small amount of time, the tragedy you aimed to convey is lost. Perhaps unintentionally, the point no longer seems to be telling a tragic story, it’s only playing this cruel game of perception with the audience. What’s the joke about Jean Grey in x-men, that she keeps being killed off and resurrected so often it’s hard to care about it all? Is this how I’m supposed to look at Penny, RWBY’s Jean Grey?
Granted, I’m not sure that if they committed to one consistent death threat with Penny and followed through, that necessarily would’ve been better. I’m not sure how I’d think of RWBY if she died from the virus, for example. At least, however, I’d be more confident in saying that was a difference of direction, rather than a difficult writing choice to comprehend.
It’s only fitting I’d talk about Winter now, huh? I think you all know my stance about her as a character, I’d argue that she, Ironwood and Cinder were the best handled characters in these two volumes by a fair margin, but the finale leaves me very conflicted about her.
On the one hand, it’s everything I want. Winter’s confrontation with Ironwood is like a mix of Blake facing off against Adam and Yang confronting Raven, and while not as impactful in terms of storytelling, they do deliver on the same fronts. Winter calls out Ironwood for his lies, establishing once and for all it was by her volition she broke off, her conscience that was always better, and there is something poetic about her gaining the Winter Maiden powers to fulfill her goal of protecting others.
...but I can’t separate this from Penny’s fate. And it frustrates me to no end, because I love her connection to Penny, I made comparisons of how it reminds of Bumbleby’s relationship, it drives their characters forward so much, heck, I like that Penny took a part in taking down Ironwood with Winter, in a sense. But because Penny’s death feels so contrived, its connection to Winter almost cheapens the importance of their relationship with each other. And it doesn’t seem quite needed either, since they individually as characters already broke free from Ironwood.
I can sort of see that I am supposed to interpret it as a tragedy, and I do indeed think Winter getting the Maiden powers is tragic for her character (not unlike Spring Maiden!Yang theories), and I am excited to see where this is going. I thought this was the end for Winter’s major impact on the story, but there’s a whole other arc waiting, and Penny’s a major part of it too.
To say I’m conflicted about Winter would be an understatement.
The actual silver lining, for me, is the post credit scene. Volume 9 is an opportunity for RWBY to try and change some of the problem I presented initially. My hope is that by focusing almost exclusively on team RWBY, with Jaune and Neo, and putting less emphasis on developing the settings of giant-tree-land and not over-complicating the plot. Hopefully, this would allow them to focus on developing the main cast again, in in particular addressing some of the main issues presented; notably, the Bees confessing, Ruby maybe reaching her breaking point, Yang’s issues being addressed, and hopefully something more individual for Blake and Weiss as well. Neo is an interesting curveball to throw into this equation, and I have a decent amount of hope with Jaune (although then I remember it’s probably going to be about Penny, and, ugh...).
Yeah, that’s all I have at the moment. If you want to talk about it, my inbox and DM’s are always open. If you disagree with me that’s fair, just give me the minimal amount of respect rather than being an ass about it.

I’m doing these out of order 😊
Oopsie. Hello friends I watched episode 3 and I’m gonna talk about it :3 TL;DR: ... Fuck >_> Spoilers in bound. Don’t want, go away thnk yoooou 😗
So the whole squad got into the academy ^_^ That’s good :3 I think one of Blake’s shadows hit the button 🤔 But yeah they made it and the reactions were funny XD Started off with a bit of comic relief. That’s good ^__^
Buuuuuuuuuuuuut then we see Watts. And..... Of course Ironwood is working with him <_< We all knew he was going to but that doesn’t make it any less annoying >_> He’s not getting off my “Please die soon >_>” list with this kinda behavior <_> Watts is hacking shit around the academy and the final goal is to hack Penny 🙄 We all knew >_< But I hope it doesn’t work. Penny is still robot, but she’s more human than anyone in Atlas. Maybe her humanity will make it impossible to hack her? Or at least impossible to take complete control of her. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking. Aaaaand as a cherry on top of the cake, Watts finds out that they’re in the academy and Ironwood sends a whole buncha reinforcements after them
Anyway next we see more of RNBW(P) and we get an official breakdown of how Ruby’s Semblance works ^_^ complete with a cute graphic :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So they use Ruby’s Semblance to get to the room they’re looking for and Penny gives Pietro control of her body, which is very interesting that she can do, and Pietro gets to work doing his thing.
While that happens, Nora, Blake, and Weiss actually have a very sweet and needed conversation. Blake says that she hopes the others are okay and expresses concern over Yang and Ruby’s relationship, me too girl, and Weiss says “Of course they’ll be okay. Sometimes sisters just have different ideas of what’s right. And that’s okay. They’ll work it out.” not verbatim, but that’s the message. And Nora says “Yeah don’t worry! Oscar’s improved a ton, Yang’s strong enough to protect everyone, and Jaune’s new upgrades are awesome! ^_^” Again not verbatim, god I just watched it I already forgot I have the memory of a dead goldfish >_> And then Blake and Weiss look at her like ‘Forgetting someone? 🤨’ and then she adds on “Oh! And Ren is... Ren is... *sigh* I don’t know what he is anymore. Every time it seems like we’re making progress something always just... pushes us back 😔” We get some Nora vulnerability I was surprised and pleased. And Blake says “When you spend so much time with someone... They can become a part of you. But that’s just it. They’re one part of you. You can’t forget about the whole.” Very good advice from our favorite cat girl. And Nora says something, again that needed to be said, “I don’t know who I am... without Ren. How sad is that...?” And Weiss says “Well... You can use this as your chance to find out. Do something only Nora can do! 😄” And Nora says, sarcastically, and sadly “Like what? Be strong and hit stuff?” I LOVED that whole talk. It was very needed for us and the characters.
But that part with RNBW isn’t done yet Pietro finishes what he’s doing, I forgot because fish brain >_>, and relinquishes control back to Penny. He also reveals that he wants Penny to stay in Amity with Pietro and Maria. Which... makes a bad bad thought come to me that I’ll talk about at the end <_<. Penny says “No but they need me here... Right?” and Ruby says “Well... If you’re up there Salem can’t reach you. She’ll never get the Relic.” Which only amplifies my bad bad thought >_<. But that comes later <_<
The quintet go the leave the room only to find the Ace Ops there. Wonderful >_>. But Weiss, sassy queen she is, says “Losing to us once wasn’t enough?” And Marrow says “We were just holding back on you guys! >_>” Which... Why would they if they were serious about arresting them? More proof to my “Ace Ops didn’t WANT to fight RWBY” Theory :3 anyways they all gang up on Penny and try to guilt trip her into coming back with them, Marrow, again <_>, saying “You have the power to stop this. Just take the Relic and give it to Salem and everything will be over.” which I find interesting that that’s what Ironwood wants to do because that just gets Salem that much closer to winning <_< God Ironwood is delusional >_>. But Ruby, Queen, says “Until Ironwood changes his mind about Mantle nothing is going to change!” and she’s right, why is a 17 year old girl smarter than 4 people in their late 20s, maybe early 20s for Marrow, who are higher ups in the military, and the leader of said military <_<
Congratulations it’s not just Ironwood I hate now. It’s everyone in Atlas, except Winter who we haven’t seen since last episode, but I know wouldn’t blame Penny for her condition. She’d blame Cinder. You know... The person’s who’s fault it is? Something the FNDM and Ironwood have in common: Blaming the heroes for something Cinder caused 😊 I know not everyone but still
So Harriet mocks Ruby and the others and Penny steps in front of her friends, and outside of the room they’re in, and says “Leave her alone” and before Ruby can warn her, the door closes behind her. Which ALSO adds to my they don’t wanna fight RWBY theory .-. I mean I get that they wanted to isolate Penny and take her by force. But I mean hey... If you’re “The best huntsman in Atlas” you should able to take all 5 of’em probably right?  😊. ANYWAY, Then....... WE SEE PENNY USE THE MAIDEN POWERS! 😱😁 Penny fights the Ace Ops, by herself, QUEEN, and actually holds her own rather well considering it was 1v4. Vine gets close to the door but Penny says “You’re not hurting my friends!”, showing her loyalty to her new team ^_^. She holds her own, but y’can’t expect her to completely destroy them because, it seems like, the rest of the Ace Ops, Team HAZE as I’ve seen it called, has worked on their coordination since ‘holding back’ against RWBY.
While Penny fights the camera switches to the other side of the door with the rest of the team to see them trying to open the door, Weiss using her Arma Gigus to try and destroy the lock but it doesn’t work and Weiss calls the Ace Ops cowards, which they are, and the door won’t budge because of the electricity field around it. Electricity. Hmm... Who there likes lightning 🤔. Total mystery.
Anyway while they’re trying to figure out how to open the door it goes back to the fight, with Penny more than holding her own with the Floating Array in conjunction with Maiden powers, but she’s still taking a lot of hits. Back in the room, Nora has a moment, repeating what she said before but with more confidence, “Be strong, and hit stuff.” before she sticks Magnhild into the lighting and takes ALL of it into her body, causing her body to actually get scars from the sheer amount of electricity she’s absorbing, and blows the door off, hitting the Ace Ops and getting them trapped under it. She says “That was pretty awesome.” before her Aura immediately depletes and she passes out. Penny rushes to her side worried as the Ace Ops push the door off of them. And then they all fight together, but something weird happens. Ironwood says something to HAZE that we don’t hear, and they say understood. And the fight continues, but it abruptly ends once Harriet grabs one of Penny’s swords. The Ace Ops leave afterward and Ruby and Weiss are like “That was suspicious 🤨”. Their attention immediately goes back to Nora though as May shows up with a plane to get them out of there.
Penny and Ruby talk on the plane and we finally see the famous hug that was in all the trailers :3 Penny says “It’s time for me to go isn’t it...” And is clearly upset about it. Ruby hugs her and tells her not to worry and they’ll see each other again. After another moment, Penny gets out of the plane and flies up to amity.
The episode ends with the Ace Ops giving Watts Penny’s sword that they took and Watts saying “If you can’t beat them... Make them join you.” and then credits.
Remember that bad bad thought I mentioned a few paragraphs ago? Well..... What if Watts makes Penny kill Pietro >_< Pietro and Maria are alone in Amity so they don’t have protection it’d be Penny with her Maiden powers vs 1 old man with a very damaged aura and one old woman who’s very out of practice >_> I don’t want it to happen >_< But it’s a possibility....... And Iiiiiiiii hate it <_<
Phew even if you have seen the episode I wouldn’t blame you if you stopped at the Tl;DR .-.

I think Yang x Blake is cute, BUT, I really think they should deal with the fact that, "Hey I just killed Adam [An abusive ex/ the source of my trauma] in self defense and I need some time to myself before I head into a / [another] relationship" again it's cute but I feel like they might be jumping in a bit too soon, especially after all they went through, NO HATE on the ship, just my opinion
Hey I hear you anon-chan and I actually kind of share in your sentiment. Speaking for myself mostly here, I neither have any hate toward Bumblebee as a ship nor am I against the CRWBY desiring to make them endgame if that’s what they are planning.
My one gripe with the treatment of the Bees has never been with the ship itself but more so the direction the PLOT took the pair in terms of how they introduced conflict between them in the form of their shared experience over being hurt by Adam as well as Yang’s feelings over Blake leaving her behind during a dire time when she could’ve used her support as a friend.
Tumblr media
Originally I was under the impression that the CRWBY Writers were going to use this narrative opportunity to further delve deeper into Yang and Blake’s relationship as a whole; allowing the two time to properly talk to one another regarding their true feelings over everything while working through any misunderstandings still left behind from their tension concerning Adam.
With the way how V5 portrayed Yang’s anger towards Blake, I figured we as the audience were going to have to watch the two girls work to rebuild the trust they once had in one another. I figured that V5 would’ve concluded with Team RWBY being reunited but still feeling divided given the lingering tension between Yang and Blake.
Since we got roughly 2-3 seasons with the tension simmering between Blake and Yang while they were apart, I figured we would have gotten 2 more seasons or at least one with the two rebuilding what they once had, possibly even introducing moments for Weiss and Ruby to intervene to help quell the strain between their two teammates leading to chances of seeing more of Weiss bonding with Yang (since I really enjoyed their Freezer burn friendship moments from V5) and even Ruby bonding with Blake (a dynamic we have yet to see explored at all).
I genuinely figured the Bees’ reconciliation phase was going to be another slow burn of events since the PLOT really made me believe it was going to be that way given how V5 shaped up. I thought we were going to get Yang and Blake learning to trust in each other again for at least one season or two before jumping into the whole Adam debacle. And even after that was wrapped up, I figured the show would’ve steadily come off of that experience, continuing to improve and grow the friendship and bond between the Bees before starting to introduce any prospective romantic interest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s how I figured the Bees were going to go. But that’s not the case for the CRWBY. Not only did Yang get over her initial anger toward Blake (a little too quickly, in my opinion) by the end of V5 going into V6 without the need to actually talk to her directly regarding her feelings during her absence, but both Blake and Yang have also gotten over their qualms surrounding Adam fairly quickly as well. Almost hard to believe that the events of V3-V6 even happened anymore given how carefree and upbeat both girls are behaving right now. But then again, this is only my opinion based off my own observation of the pair.
It’s not even my place to be discussing Bumblebee anyways. If I may be honest with you anon-chan, this squiggle meister doesn’t really care that much for the Bees anymore and I have voiced this before in recent times. Nothing against them, it’s just that all the recent discourse surrounding the pair that arose since the end of V6 has honestly left me exasperated by the whole thing and I’m not even a Bee-shipper.
I’m just tired of hearing about all the bickering between the folks who love the Bees and the folks who don’t; particularly the ones who take it to the extreme on BOTH sides. And by that I mean from the Bee-haters who harp on the Bees because it’s LGBT and also from the Bee-supporters who cry “homophobia” at anyone who says anything negative about Bumblebee, even if it’s just someone innocently giving their genuine honest thoughts on the pair without any animosity at all.
I remember listening in on one of MurderofBirds’ YouTube Livestream Discussions when a member of the non-Bee crowd sent him a super chat just to spurt more discourse at the Bees. I even had my own run-in with one of the Bee-supporters who cry homophobia when one of them sent me an anonymous message telling me to “stop speaking out of place” when discussing LGBT couples and representation on my blog since according to them, me being a straight person automatically means that I can’t related to folks from the LGBT community. All because someone prompted me for my thoughts on the Bees and LGBT rep in RWBY in general and I gave my honest thoughts as respectably as I always do. And it’s stuff like that that further justifies why I personally don’t care anymore.
Tumblr media
So sink or swim or whatever the CRWBY decides to do with the Bees, I honestly don’t business that much. I’ve already shared my views on the Bees, the progression of their relationship and the treatment of the ship by the FNDM once or twice when asked about it on my blog and I’m going to leave it at that.
I don’t even wish to discuss the Bees much on my blog period since I don’t wish to attract the wrong kind of attention. As I’ll say again, it’s not my place to discuss a ship I don’t really care about.
The PLOT could do whatever it so desires to do for the Bees for V7 and it wouldn’t make much difference for me. But for your sake anon-chan, who knows? Maybe the Bees might just get that big heart to heart moment after all at some point down the line in the season. Let’s wait and see, fam.
That being said, the only thing I could use right now is for the PLOT to share some of that good cush it’s been dutifully feeding the Bees for every single episode of V7 so far with the Rosegarden. I mean, it’s nice that the Bees are being fed and all, however the Rosegarden hasn’t been watered by the PLOT since the third episode and as Rosegardener, this displeases me =v=); .
I’m blaming Double D Rivas for that since MK and Khaleesi made sure to water the garden in their respective episodes. But not Eddy though. Double D left us dry…for two whole episodes. Dagnabbit Double D!

The Good, The Bad and the Dirty: RWBY Vol 6 Ch 7
If you have stopped squeeing about Jaune’s sister and her lovely family, you are welcomed to read try thoughts on this episodes.
#TurnsOutMariaWasKindaHot
So, I have a lot of thoughts. I’ve decided to organize this review a little different than what I usually do.
Rating: 5/10
I’ve mentioned a couple of times how RWBY episodes can be classified as a “group of scenes that happen to be in succession fo one another”. Though this doesn’t always happen to be true (see the Salem/Ozma flashback episode, or last week’s episode), this weeks’ episode does fall into that description.
In order to analyze the episode better, I’ve decided to follow the stream of scenes in the order they come and rate them appropriately.
Scene #1: Cinder and Neo.
Where does it belong? The Dirty.
This scene mostly elongated the set up we have seen in the previous episodes: a defeated Cinder trying to get herself back together and planing her next move, oh also, Neo is there.
Aside from finally displaying the agreement between everyone’s favorite ice cream girl and the fallen Cinderella. This scene only provides us with one piece of new information: Salem has instructed Cinder not to kill Ruby.
I fill like this scene should have been shown earlier. It feels disconnected from everything else in the episode. If you have to squint in order to see how the scenes of one episode are connected, there needs to be a re write.
One could assume this detail of Cinder not being allowed to kill Ruby and her playing with the knife could be more foreshadowing of the “eye for an eye” theme we have been going for since the Volume 4, only because of the Maria scene afterwards.
I can already see it: turns out Summer also lost one of her eyes, and when Ruby does so as well (all the RWBY girls will have a physical scar) and she will look just like her mother.
Scene #2: Grandma Katara’s flashback’s and the coin on the “character development” jar.
Where does it belong? The Good + Some tiny Bad.
Before I deconstruct this, I just want to say I’m kinda bothered by the fact that Young María looks nothing like old María. They look like two completely different characters, and though yes, as people get old they tend to change and  slouch, these two models are too different to one another.
So, we get an awesome fight scene with a younger Grandma Katara, and I’ve got to say: her weapon is one of the coolest from the whole show. Without a doubt her double mini scythes are 100% better than Qrow and Ruby’s in my opinion.
The animation flew great, you got a rush of adrenaline, and seeing that giant Nevermore get turned into stone and then crumble when hitting the ground was amazing.
Then a couple of bandits showed up, and is it me or is that gal simpered by the Peter Pan crocodile? Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc.
Anyways, María loses her eyes were fighting with these people and I was just as horrified as everyone on the cart was. Also, did anyone notice how weird it seems that people are hunting down others that can actually protect humanity from Grimm?
If you tell me that Salem’s lackeys pay people to get silver eyed warriors neutralized, the it means that almost no one knows about these clearly powerful hunstmen that can save thousands of lives. Odd.
The Grimm Reaper seems like a cool name for her. Goodbye to all the fanfics that used to describe Ruby like that unless it’s a purposeful omage (Well get to that).
I liked how María purposefully spoke about how the loss of her eyes affected her personally, and how she draws attention to Yang. Though she will be Ruby’s teacher, turns out that Yang can learn a thing or two from this woman who has chosen the wrong path to recovery before.
Which takes me to the bad:
Qrow says The Grimm Reaper was a legend, that he built his weapon after her and that he wanted to be like her. This is good character building and makes Ruby’s inspiration on her uncle’s weapon kind of funny.
My problem with this is that The Great Grimm Reaper wasn’t eve named dropped before. What kind of world building is that?
Scene #3: Argus.
Where does it belong? The Dirty.
The team finally reaches Argus and though I am happy to get some historical backdrop of the city and see my precious children: Ren and Nora again. I am a sucker for world building, and this union between Atlas and Mistral to create a city so far away from Mistral’s capital aligns perfectly with the fact that these two kingdom’s were Allies before and during the war. Of course they would have each other’s back.
Now. I absolutely dislike the change in tone this episode has.
We just heard how María lost her eyes, and got a moment of self reflection, but we are back with the funny hijinks and the exaggerated animations!
I saw that embrace between Yang and Ren and I’m loving it.
Nora, never change.
I really like that small interaction between Jaune and Ruby, because in case you don’t know: these kids have faced death so many times during the pasts months that Jaune is scared as hell of losing them.
So... Are we going to meet Pyrrha’s family? Guess not.
Scene #4: Jaune is an uncle.
Where does it belong? The Dirty.
I’m happy to meet one of Jaune’s sisters, and I like the family dynamic it presents. Though, if I’m being honest, most of Jaune’s sister’s look exactly the same.
Turns out RT promised some LGBT+ representation, and if Illia and Pilot boi weren’t enough, here we have the Cotta-Arcs. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and I love how Weiss and Yang interacted with that precious baby boy, but I hate that the FNDM is going to focus on that more than analyzing and criticizing this chapter.
I wish we could have gotten this family life and mentions of Mistral-Atlas relationship in a separate chapter.
It’s not Scene #5 but: what was that last shot.
It doesn’t belong in the episode unless this episode started with the last scene. It’s connected to the last scene but has no momentum or relation to the rest of the episode.
Like I said before: WHERE’S THE THEME????
Rating: 5/10
A.N.: I need a montage of Grandma Katara training the Branwen-Xiao Long-Rose family and telling them to get off their asses and be better people.
For extremely scientific reasons.
