Furina has done nothing to stop the impending disaster, Arlecchino has been sure of this fact for years.

And then the flood comes and it leaves and a moment later Furina staggers out of the Epicles, gaunt, shaking, and stares out at her rejoicing people with an expression of horror.

She has half a mind to kill Furina there and then- useless god who cares not for her people- but she looks so pathetic, sunk there on the ground, tears leaking from her empty human eyes, that she thinks letting her live might be the crueler punishment.

After all, she had done nothing.

Two days later Furina storms into the House of Hearth, her children hot on her heels, and slams Arlecchino against a wall, demanding “how dare you?”

She is pale and thin and her eyes are sleepless, but the disgraced lady speaks with such unrestrained ferocity. And as her children arrive she waved them away, and she listens.

She learns of this trickster Archon, who committed godly feats with her human mind, who lost half of herself to the Soverign, who has gone mad long ago, and has died many, many times. Who suffered for five hundred years and watched her world drown. Who stumbles outside to find her citizens rejoicing and whole, shouting “the prophecy was wrong!” That her sacrifice had been for naught.

She learns of Furina, who is living for nothing for the first time in five hundred years, and as the child(?) ends her rant, chest heaving, cheeks flushed, eyes gleaming, a little feeling emerges from her chest that feels almost like guilt.

Arleccchino being the 4th Harbinger is cool and all, BUT WTF HAPPENED TO THE 10TH????????? WHERE TF ARE THEY? BECAUSE IT SURE AS HELL AIN"T CAPITANO. WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN MENTIONED ABOUT THEM?????

Is it not a literal plot hole? Because idk if you remember, but revealing all the Harbingers was kind of a big f*cking deal. Everyone was there except for Signora (dead) and Scaramouche (mentioned)

And now apparently the 10th wasn't there either? why?!?

I see a few possibilities.

They're alive, just unmentioned (Unlikely. You don't use a 12th person reveal on a measly rank 10. Especially not without foreshadowing)

They're dead. (Possible, but you'd think they'd have mentioned it by now.)

Childe was ranked 11th just because? (Perhaps because he's that much younger and newer than everyone else) (Possible, but I don't know about this one)

That seats going to get filled over the course of the game, possibly by the Traveler. (Maybe. Probably the route they're going to go, if I had to guess.)

(And no, I do not subscribe to the theory that Crepus was a Harbinger. Owning a delusion is not as much of a smoking gun as people seem to think)

how much of a simp do you think arle would become when she learned what furina's done for fontaine?

i feel like for arle, only two things are important: her loved ones (she thought that it only included her children.. but now they're not the only ones she'll call that lol) and her motherland. so i just keep imagining just how conflicted she is, about her previous actions and thoughts of furina, and how contradicting her current feelings are!! oh the drama that would be happening inside arlecchino's heart I can't

also ngl im a bit salty that no one apologized to furina for what they've done. so imagine arle being actually the first one who said she's sorry. arle would just do it out of her parental habits but furina's mind is completely blown away by that🤯🤯

Ill say she becomes a big simp and a loser over Furina because again, I really enjoy bullying Arle for the assassination attempt. So you got this big fat crush for the girl you tried to murder? That you can barely talk to her without making a fool out of yourself and constanrlt scaring the shit out of your crush? Though luck, must be really akward.

Now that you bring Arle apologizing with Furina it remind a some kind of "conspiracy theory" I had for Arleccchino in the game. There is no way they don't make her playable, they have to make her playable eventually. And Genshin characters are product, so the version where she comes out they will have to sell her as hard as they can, and I feel like a great wat to do it have her apologize on screen to Furina. Like, I hope is not my Furina bias but I do feel like the opinion over Furina shifted after the Archon Quest and she as become pretty beloved or at least not as bad mouthed as she once was, and have this conflict between them could do bad to Arlecchino potential sells.

But that couls also be me exaggerating the importance Furina has, if people haven't notice, I have a bias. And people would absolutely pull for Arle because "Hot woman", im sure I will, my obsession with Arlefuri aside. And also they also could use her relationship with the Fontaine siblings, just ignoring the most questionable side of it.

How long has it been since world quest lore featured in an archon quest or a character story quest? I feel like putting together lore used to pay off a lot more before compared to now.

Scaramouche’s story was cooked slowly from his first appearance in 1.1 Unreconciled Stars, that’s how early fans started speculating about his connection to Raiden based on his visual similarities to Honkai’s Mei and afterwards all the lore hidden in item descriptions. It’s the main reason why he was so popular in the first place and why getting invested in his lore felt like it paid off, despite the disagreement with some writing choices.

Another huge one was Signora, I still remember the post that started speculations about her being the Crimson Witch of Flames.

But I try to think something more recent and there isn’t rly anything that stands out. Fontaine’s aq didn’t feature anything relevant from Remuria’s lore, the Caribert quest had no lore foreshadowing, same for Sumeru, same for The Chasm and Dainsleif quests. They drop lore bombs and occasionally answer one or two questions, but at the same time raise a dozen more.

I’ve made some correct guesses in every important update, but only based on thematic elements and every time I watch other fans put a lot of effort into trying to solve the puzzle with the information provided by the game only to end up disappointed. A lot of events and quests don’t make sense to people because of that. And then I’ve also been mislead by themes I thought the narrative had promised me only to end up empty handed.

I can’t know how other fans feel, but it’s the reason why I’ve become burnout, stopped playing the side quests since there’s no payoff. There’s always theories trying to solve the various mysteries presented in the game, so I can just read through those instead. Chances are it won’t be used in the story, so I know I won’t miss out on the feeling of solving something by myself. Most of Fontaine can be explained just with the movie Metropolis and the Bible, there’s no reason for me to look for more info in the game unless I want to learn the whole history, knowing it doesn’t explain much by itself.

I had my hopes on Arleccchino, but again there was no buildup and no foreshadowing besides the recently released Perinheri book. Knowing her lore beforehand, scattered in world quests in Inazuma and Sumeru, also didn’t pay off because the game withheld information about it that changed the interpretation of these quests.

The company seems to rely a lot on the hype of these red herrings, but then it exhausts their audience and soon it might not work anymore because people feel like characters and major elements get basically retconned, even though they aren’t. All fiction thrives on plot twists, but when ur medium creates and supports certain expectations over months only to deliver something unexpected, it rather ruins the fun of those invested in it. And I’m saying this as someone who’s already used to it, I don’t trust the game to deliver what they promise anymore, so I had no expectations about Arlecchino for example. But it’s clear a lot of other fans did, based on what they were promised and reassured for months before new information was introduced that contradicted those expectations.
