Legacy Heroes AU

((Idk I was feeling emo. Anyway here’s my next gen kids for Arrowverse because idk what I’m doing but y’all can’t stop me.))

It all starts with Rip-Quentin and Laurel Sharpe-Lance. (Avalance Twins who were born a couple years after Mia)

At age 16, these two get tired of riding their moms’ coattails and decide to form their own team.

They recruit their cousin, Quinn Drake (18) (Dinahsiren baby named after Quentin)

They bring in Mia Queen (19) (This timeline’s version of the canon Olicity baby obvs.) and Nora and Joe West-Allen (18) (the Westallen tornado twins because you can pry canon tornado twins out of my cold dead hands)

For a while, it’s just the six of them, but after a while they figure out there’s not much for them to do in their current time period (2040s) but (idk why yet) the timeline is always messed up so why not help out there?

Laurel can assemble a lot of the parts for their own timeship via magic but they still need some help with engineering so they recruit Arthur Palmer (17 and a half) (Dahrkatom baby) who is easily the most mature of them despite being younger than Mia and the West-Allen’s, so he becomes a the dad friend pretty quickly.

And because Ray was still close with John even after he left the Legends, their kids grew up with constant playdates and Calliope Constantine (16) (Constangreen adopted baby) ends up tagging along.

Calliope and Laurel become a chaotic duo because they can both do magic.

Of course since every other Legends kid is coming, they end up with Eleftheria Tarazi (15) (Zarlie baby) and Zavian Heywood-Tarazi. (14) (Naterad adopted baby)

So now there’s ten of them and they’re all just as chaotic as their parents except they were all raised together so they’re all just cruising through time beating people up with the power of sibling love. RQ is the leader like his mother before him.

Somehow after like a year of doing this they end up with ‘in her 30s’ Lita Rory as kind of a cranky camp counselor/vodka aunt but other than that their lineup doesn’t really change at all

They call themselves the Legacies. (I know but I couldn’t think of anything else.)

Here’s the thing: in this timeline, Barry, Dinah, and Laurel Lance all die in Crisis.

Nora and Joe decide go save their dad. When the team figures this out, they send Quinn after them, cause she’s weirdly good at keeping up with the twins’ whirlwind logic.

This backfires because Quinn wants to get to know her moms, too. She convinces RQ (team leader) that it’ll be fine and they can learn things from their parents back when they were cool.

Unfortunately, all this messing with time leads to their timeline becoming unstable. They accidentally erase Mia. RQ blames himself.

Don’t worry, Mia still exists. She’s just not their Mia. When they go back to the 2040s to check on her, she doesn’t remember any of them.

All the kids simultaneously go oh shit because this implies that they accidentally erased themselves from the timeline. Like, all of them except Lita.

And Lita won’t admit it but she loves these kids and they’re all depressed and accepting their demise and she’s like fuck that I’m not letting my kids go.

They figure out that the Legends kids will mostly be safe because Ely is half Fate and should be immune to timeline changes and the others were born on a timeship for one reason or another so they have enough time radiation in their blood to not be affected much.

However Nora, Joe, and Quinn are losing memories very quickly even while in the Temporal Zone.

Then it gets worse and they’re getting physically sick.

The kids figure out the only way to save those three is to use the Loom of Fate.

Only problem... the Legends destroyed it.

They have to sneak onto the past Waverider, the day the Legends reassemble it, get it, use it, and put it back in time to not cause any more changes to the timeline.

Long story short they all go like dumbasses and get caught.

Once everything gets cleared up and the Legends do DNA tests the past versions of the Legends are all intrigued and they want to get to know their kids and the kids are like omg mom/dad wasn’t always old and weird this is kinda cool.

So they end up staying for a little while.

Meanwhile Lita is panicking like where are those shitheads because Nora and Joe are getting sicker and o h s h i t Quinn blinked out of existence. But it’s okay it’s fine with the Loom we can fix it.

But the Legacies don’t remember this. In fact they’re starting to forget why they even came to the past because though it’s slower the timeline changes are affecting them, too.

Even Ely isn’t immune anymore. She’s less affected, but her mind is still getting all mixed up.

And the Legends are getting worried because oh shit something’s wrong with our kids and they don’t even remember why but eventually they think to take a communicator off RQ and contact Lita.

And Lita is all like FINALLY did you get it QUINN FREAKING DIED.

And the Legends are just freaking out because they don’t even know who this person is but apparently she needs the Loom to save their kids who are getting sicker and sicker and apparently there’s three more in the future and one of them already died.

In the end they decide to trust her and they take the Loom and the kids to the ship themselves.

And Mick is kinda just like oh shit is that my kid? Cause Lita didn’t tell them who she was just that she was a Legacy.

And he’s proud but doesn’t know how to say it that Lita has become a Legend and is protecting everyone else’s kids.

Anyway they do save everyone and then when the kids go back to the future the Legends are just like... not sure what to do... because now they know who ends up with who and the kids that result.

*insert drama here* :)

I might be writing and fleshing out most if not all of this at some point, probably not soon though. Anyway let me know if you’re interested in an expanded version of this story.

I might do it even if nobody’s interested just for me though.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE ON THIS MUSE: Ngl, I saw someone on my dash reblog a gifset of the show and I started watching because I thought it seemed cool. I love Next Gen stuff, so a show where Clark and Lois have kids? Yuss. And holy cow Jordan really spoke to me. I was the kid who was bullied, had little to no friends, was a loner, and honestly? I saw a lot of myself in Jordan and related to him a lot. Lara, was an OC I created early on in watching the show for a fanfic trilogy I was working on. I still haven’t written her fanfic, but I figured I’d write her in RP just to see what would happen. Lois, to be honest in her previous incarnations I hadn’t thought much of? I never watched Smallville’s Lois, and I remember not liking her in the DCAU preferring the original Christopher Reeves Version. But the Arrowverse Lois was amazing. I loved her in the show, and Bitsie Tulloch is a fantastic Lois and idk there was just something about her that I wanted to explore more of.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE: Probs the fact he is so relatable? I know half of the fandom thinks he’s annoying and whiny but....Jordan Kent is a more realistic depiction of a teenager than all the characters in Riverdale ok? Like I’m sorry, Jordan is everything about Jughead done right. He is moody and cynical but also compassionate and kind, and believable. I do think it’s interesting though how different Lara is in RP, like in her fanfic she’s...pretty bad. But, having her interact with other people, has really brought out certain aspects I had no idea were in there. Also Superman and Lois has the best Lois Lane, I love her. She’s the perfect Lois in every way.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING: Mostly listening to music, sometimes I’ll rewatch an ep to give me a clearer picture and sometimes I even daydream.

FAVORITE TYPES OF THREADS: Angst...give me all the angst

BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN REGARDS TO YOUR CURRENT MUSE: I haven’t seen all the Arrowverse shows, and at this point? Like Idk if it would even matter since the bulk of them take place pre-Crisis and my characters are all Post-Crisis.

The Year in Arrow Fic, 2019

It occurred to me earlier this week that it might be cool to look at some summary statistics for fic in our fandom during the past year. This is based on my weekly scrapes of unlocked fics on AO3.

There were 2,880 fics published/updated on AO3 during 2019 that were assigned to the Arrow fandom.

I hand-code a basic category, specific relationships, and settings for all fics. Olicity was the most ficced relationship for the year, at 1,062 fics or 37% of all fics. (The number of fics tagged Oliver/Felicity would be larger if you look in AO3, because I’m screening out fics where Olicity is a side pairing to other relationships, including non-romantic ones.) Olivarry is the only other relationship large enough to get a main category breakout, but it does seem to be on the wane, with only 143 fics this year (5% of all Arrow fics). The largest category is Other Arrow Ships, which includes any other relationships made up of at least one character that I consider to be an Arrow character (1,301 fics, 45%). It includes both romantic and gen fic focused on Arrow characters. Non-Arrow (322 fics, 11%) is primarily made up of fic for other Arrowverse shows where Arrow characters play a supporting role, crossover/fusion fics with other fandoms that seem to primarily be about the other fandom, and fics that tag Arrow for no good reason, as far as I can tell from tags and description.

More statistics behind the cut!

“Other Arrow” includes all relationships that include at least one person I consider to be an Arrow character, so that’s anyone who is/was on the show beyond just a few episodes, whether dead, alive, or transferred to another Arrowverse show.

Looking at the raw data for the relationship codes, many of the most common pairings other than Olicity and Olivarry are made up of Oliver with an alternate partner (Laurel, Slade, Sara, or Kara Danvers, plus gen fic that’s Oliver-centric). There are also several pairings with Sara (Nyssa, Oliver, Ava Sharpe, and Leonard Snart). Team-centric gen fic and Dinah Drake/Earth-2 Laurel round out the top 10 (based on mostly unstructured data, so it’s possible I missed some that should be grouped together).

Honestly, the largest category of “Other Arrow” is next gen fic: looking quickly across various relationship tags, I see 48 fics that are OC next gen-centric, and 96 fics centered on canon next-gen characters.

I also have a 4-category variable for the type of fic: one-shot, multichapter, collection of one-shots, and single-universe one-shot collection (fics like Pieces of Always, where the story doesn’t necessarily flow from one chapter to the next, but all chapters are in the same universe). For 2019, we had 1,245 multichapter fics, 1,447 one-shots, 135 one-shot collections, and 53 single universe one-shot collections published/updated.

Olicity and the Other Arrow categories had about the same number of multichapter fics (482 vs. 465) and single universe one-shot collections (25 vs. 18), but Olicity had fewer one-shots (514 vs. 743) and one-shot collections (41 vs. 75). As a result, multichapters make up a greater proportion of Olicity fic as compared to other arrow ships (45% vs. 36%). Non-Arrow fics tagged Arrow are likely to be multichapter (213 fics, 66% of all fics I categorize as non-Arrow). This makes sense to me--there’s more room, and perhaps more need, to include supporting characters from other fandoms in a multichapter vs. a one-shot.

I wouldn’t be a recovering doctoral student if I didn’t feel compelled to caution that fic type and relationship categorizations are made by me alone, typically based on tags and description alone, so it’s possible that a) I’ve made mistakes in my coding - I definitely caught some in looking at the data. Also, b) because I’m making decisions based on summaries alone in most cases, fics with terse and/or misleading summaries may not be classified as accurately as they could be, other people might not agree with my classifications, and fics that cater to my personal tastes are categorized more accurately since I read them. I’m also missing locked fics and fics on ff.net, and the scrape process isn’t always error-free, either.

I still think it’s fun to get a sense of what our awesome fandom has produced this year, and thought you all might be interested, too!

Shit, when they actually made Olicity canon. I was literally about to stop watching that show, because I... I was actually invested in a straight couple and the thought of having to watch Oliver get together with the woman on whom he cheated with her sister was very yikes to me and then they hit me outta left-field with that glorious canon content and the ship sailing and I??? I love them so much?

THE WEDDING. Oliver and Felicity actually getting married - and getting a big wedding at that because when they had the rushjob wedding I was pissed my OTP shared their wedding with my biggest NOTP, but then they got a glorious actual wedding??

The introduction of Mia Smoak made me genuinely scream because I headcanoned their blonde archer daughter Mia as a next gen OC for like two years already and suddenly she’s canon and looks just like how I imagined her, that blew my mind.

WHEN THEY INCLUDED JOHN. I loved Constantine and was so salty it got cancelled and then he got a cameo in Arrow and then Legends actually adopted him?? Amazing?

When it really disappointed you:mmh so I just wrote and backspaced a long-winding rant about my NOTP. Let’s not do that. How about... whatever the fuck they’re doing with Lena right now? I’m just... no, thank you. ALSO WHEN THE SHOW THAT LITERALLY DOES FUCKING TIME TRAVEL JUST KILLED OFF LEONARD SNART AND DIDN’T BRING HIM BACK.

Most well done character death: I mean, shit, Leonard dying a hero. Quentin made me ugly-cry a lot. I’m still in denial about Ollie and I honestly didn’t find that well-done - his first death was DUMB, he “died to save millions” WHO THEN GOT KILLED BY THE ANTI MATTER ANYWAY SO WHAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT and then they killed him AGAIN what the FUCK. Urgh.

One thing you hope really happens: I mean shit I an ANTSY for that Green Lantern spin-off starring John Diggle?? You don’t tease him finding the ring and NOT give him a freaking spin-off and while we’re at it can we maybe have some John and Lynn interaction because you’re implying he’s her (step)brother here and I need John and Jefferson to meet and uncle John to hang with the girls and like GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEE

Most shocking twist: honestly when Batwoman flat-out revealed that Alice is Beth, right from the first episode - and also included Kate knowing. Like, the Arrowverse has one big weakness and that is really predictable villains were the “”suprise reveal”” is delayed far to olong *cough* Savitar *cough* and I was genuinely prepared for Alice and Kate to dance around each other for a half season before they even reveal to the AUDIENCE that Alice is Beth and have Kate realize it in like the season 1 finale

When did you start watching/reading?: Riiight when Arrow first started airing. I loved Oliver Queen on Smallville and was like “Oh?? The green boy? Okay, I will have some green archer boy, please”. Admittedly, this is a... VERY different Oliver than Smallville’s Oliver, but damn am I glad I started watching it *^*

Best animal/creature:GIVE ME KRYPTO 2020!!! Seriously, I don’t think there ARE any animals in this universe which is RIDICULOUS? But please give Kara Krypto

Favourite location: National City?

Trope you wish they would stop using: I feel like it is not a problem anymore, but for a long while it was the “give the hero a villain with the exact same power-set” because urgh that’s so tiresome. Oliver out-archers one archer after the other, wow. Barry is “the fastest man alive ASIDE FROM that new speedster who showed up this season oh no :O now he has to get EVEN FASTER”, Kara gets to face Kryptonian and close-to-Kryptonian (Daxam) villains... it’s... boring?? I like these kind of match-ups FAR more. Kate and Alice, Kara against the Luthors, Oliver against Damien was great (yeah, I know, afterward he got right back to an archer, but oh well -_-). Something different and challenging!

One thing this show/book/film does better than others: Work with a whole host of characters. Seriously there are SO MANY and the vast majority are so amazing? Also LGBT+ rep wise - sure not all shows are equal there (side-eyeing you hard, Flash), but we got a total of:

eight lesbians (Nyssa al Ghul, Kate Kane, Alex Danvers, Ava Sharpe, Anissa Pierce, Kelly Olsen, Maggie Sawyer, Sophie Moore),

five gay men (William Clayton, Curtis Holt, David Singh, Leo Snart, Ray Terril),

five bi/pan characters (John Constantine, Sara Lance, Grace Choi, Gary Green, Charlie),

the first trans superhero to ever grace any screen (Nia Nal),

a genderfluid goddess (Charlie)

If you look at the Arrowverse as one franchise, that is... that is an overwhelming number. (And I am not including minor recurring characters who were only in one or two episodes, like Yvette Turner who is trans, David Singh’s gay husband, Hartley Rathaway who was only in like one episode after he got retconned good; though I would love to see them upgrade to recurring!)

Funniest moments: whenever Felicity gets to nerd babble, honestly the majority of things Mick Rory does, Nate and Ray’s epic bromance

Couple you would like to see: I was very pleased when the movies changed things to Neville/Luna in the end, but like… I don’t really have any ships I’d WANT to see, aside from “gay it up”, because seriously

Most boring plotline: Arrow season 5? I mean, holy shit, Adrian Chase was like pulling teeth and then this massive LOAD of new characters all at once was just too much

Most laughably bad moment:I mean shit Flash literally had “the hero is actually the villain because Iris died so he became a villain so he can kill Iris himself”, shit that was the dumbest crap ever...

Best flashback/flashfoward if any: I really enjoyed the Mia and William future flashforwards in Arrow season 7

Most layered character: KARA DANVERS. She is so full of hope but she has suffered so much and that she still keeps her smile and still believes in the good in people and argh I love her

Most one dimensional character: The Monitor. They set him up SO EARLY and it dragged on and still they never actually made him a CHARACTER. Shit, they threw one measy “hE hAs A wIfE” like that suddenly gave him personality... *snorts* Look, there were a lot of characters who were more one dimensional than him but they were also in it for like a couple episodes or so. This was THE big bad of multiple shows, who was set up over the course of a whole year, and he was STILL flat so proportionally he’s the flattest

Scariest moment: honestly Batwoman. That excessive, explicit child abuse and torture is horrifying

Grossest moment: *points one above* plus all those face-off moments

Best looking male: ooof... Oliver Queen?

Best looking female: NYSSA AL GHUL

Who you’re crushing on (if any): Nyssa al Ghul, Kate Kane, Nia Nal, Zari Tomaz, Cat Grant - listen, this show has a whole HOST of eyecandy and beautiful-outside-and-inside characters. If I have to pick only one then Nyssa, but like yeah all of the above

Favourite cast moment: oh gods that adorkable fotoshoot of Melissa, Stephen and Grant? When the Supergirl cast made that ridiculous Sweet Dreams music video? Melissa announcing her pregnancy ;-;, every time that Stephen called out to Emily in promos like that always gets me

Favourite transportation: THE WAVE RIDER. Gideon is amazing *^*

Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): too many, too much has happened, I don’t know??

Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you:Okay so here is one I really do have: WHERE THE EVER LOVING FUCK IS FELICITY IN THE FUTURE. Like, yeah, sure we saw Felicity walk with the Monitor into the afterlife to be with Ollie, but that was old-timeline!Felicity. Back where William and Mia only just met and the world was a shithole. How... Where exactly do new-timeline!William and new-timeline!Mia think that their mom is...? How does this one work out? Technically only alternate-timeline!Felicity has gone to be happy with Oliver, but that whole timeline was rewritten by Oliver so that scene should have never happened but it clearly did since we saw the Olicity reunion from THAT Felicity walking with the Monitor. Where is current-timeline!Felicity? Is she living in a cottage with her wife Nyssa??

Best promo: all that hype about Crisis with all the guest stars they announced

At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: genuinely when Olicity became canon. Me, getting a show where I enjoy the main pairing? That was when I knew I would be selling my soul to this universe

Laurel Sharpe-Lance

((One of my Arrowverse next-gen kids.))

Full name is Laurel Sharpe-Lance.

Superhero name is Nightingale.

She’s the younger twin, but she doesn’t like to talk about it, specifically because RQ does like to talk about it, too much.

The only one Sara was with when she went into labor was Mick.

Though he f r e a k e d out at first, he actually handled it okay and got Sara to a hospital.

He will deny he cried when he was made baby Laurel’s godfather.

Where RQ is a momma’s boy, Laurel is... not as much.

She loves her moms but has a special connection with John. He first figured out she had magic and taught her to use it without hurting anyone.

Magic lessons made her super close with John and Gary and not as much with Ava and Sara.

Still, she never says no to cuddles where Ava and Sara grab both twins after a stressful mission and hold them until all 4 fall asleep.

Besides her moms and Constangreen, Laurel’s favorite growing up is Mick.

She loves Auntie Charlie, Auntie Zari, Uncle Behrad, Uncle Ray, etc., but none of them have the raw nonchalance about her magic that Mick does.

He’s the only one who will just shoot a little stream of flames at her (the heat gun on low power) so she can practice shields or just randomly ask her if she can summon him a snack.

By the time she’s 10, Laurel is tired of everyone treating her like a little kid, like magic is something that should only be used as a last resort, because at this point, magic is like breathing to her.

Mick doesn’t do that. For him, magic is just another part of her and he loves his goddaughter even if she summons Bloody Mary in rear view mirrors just to watch her get hit by a car.

For the record, Sara also finds that hilarious, but moving on.

Laurel is really close with Calliope because Calliope gets it. They have girl talk a lot and do joint spells that neither of them are strong enough to do alone.

Those two, being two magical kids on one timeship, are a special kind of chaos once Laurel discovers her magic at age 6.

When they end up in the past, Sara and Ava don’t really understand why they’re having trouble getting through to Laurel.

It’s because when she was little, Laurel knew she was different but they didn’t believe her until John confirmed it.

To be fair neither of them had experience with kids yet. Their only real experience, in fact, was babysitting baby Arthur once when Nora and Ray couldn’t get anyone else to watch him.

Eventually they talk it through and they promise not to make the same mistake when they raise her in this timeline.

In the future, Laurel has a bit of a *ahem* thing, with Amaya’s great-grandson, Zaire Jiwe. (Kuasa’s (mainly because I know nothing about Mari) son.)

By which I mean they run into each other on missions way too often and flirt A LOT but refuse to have a goddamn normal conversation.

Kuasa was never close with the rest of the heroes so Zaire grew up separately from the others and Laurel doesn’t know who he is beyond ‘the Fox.’

RQ is past being overprotective brother and is now just frustrated with them like oh my god can you talk to each other without flirting but never acting on your feelings ONE TIME?!

Instead, Zaire and Laurel just flirt even more obnoxiously to annoy him while internally freaking out like holy shit does he/she actually like me back???

Sara doesn’t tell Laurel she knows who he is cause she’s an overprotective mom.

And Ava is oblivious and doesn’t even know that Laurel likes him.

Maaaaybe Laurel will find out who he is and maybe she won’t. ;)

Whenever they are around together Laurel Lance and Laurel Sharpe-Lance are called Big Laurel and Little Laurel.

It’s a little awkward as they both know Laurel is named after the aunt who died years before she was born.

But they make it work.

Arrowverse Kids (canon and my ocs)

So I started writing a fanfiction where I created all these characters who have children, spanning throughout 3 of the DC shows. Includes canon kids (Zoe, JJ, Mia, and William), as well as kids I made up (Nova and Astrid Aelfric, Jemisha Nerezza, Nora and Henry Allen, Daisy Reynolds, and Levina Bianchi)

Evelyn Crawford Sharp; codename is Artemis; very skilled at archery; is basically the parent of the Next Gen crew, as she is the oldest; all the adults on Team SuperArrow parent her (especially Kara and Oliver); after Prometheus, she isn’t sure if she deserves a place on the team, but the other kids show her she belongs with them

Levina Alessandra ‘Vee’ Bianchi; both her parents escaped Jupiter and she and her brother were born on Earth; her parents and brother were killed by their neighbors, who had found out the family were aliens; she became a vigilante hero in National City, protecting other alien families; like Evelyn, all the adults play a part in parenting her

Jemisha Lilith ‘Misha’ Nerezza; was born on Pluto, the daughter of Nyx, its dictator; her older brother sent her to Earth when she was five for a better life; is afraid to tell the world she is an alien, but her family shows her she can be proud of her blood; her foster parents found out she was an alien and she moved in with Kara and Oliver

Astrid Alexina Aelfric; born one of the princesses of Venus, and was in line for the throne; when Nyx invaded, Astrid and her siblings were forced to flee; when she convinced Kara to be the Phoenix, was the best day of her life

Zoe Ramirez; daughter of Rene and Laura Ramirez; knows her dad is Wild Dog, but doesn't say anything; wants to grow up and protect the city like her dad; is really proud of him for it

Nova Polaris Aelfric; born the youngest princess of Venus; when Nyx invaded, Nova and her siblings were forced to flee; grew up with her brother in the Cranston family; doesn’t want to be a superhero like Astrid, but thinks it would be cool

Daisy Estelle Reynolds; her mom, Rose, had her at sixteen; after the Undertaking, Rose and Daisy moved to Central City; the particle accelerator explosion gave her a sonic scream, and she can’t wait to go in the field and use it; wants her codename to be Blackbird, like the song and to honor her aunt Lily, who used to call her that

William ‘Will’ Clayton; the son of Oliver Queen and Samantha Clayton; usually worries about his dad in the field, but believes he is going to be okay; he looks up to all of his family members and sees all of them as heroes

John ‘JJ’ Diggle Jr.; the son of John Diggle and Lyla Michaels; is probably going to grow up to be an A.R.G.U.S. agent and a superhero, to be honest

Henry Harrison Allen; inherited plant manipulation from Rose and is known as Evergreen in the future; as a baby, he is very energetic; stubborn and unafraid to stand up for what is right

Nora Lily Allen; known to Central City as XS; basically is a carbon-copy of Barry personality wise; her dad and sister are basically her heroes

Mia Danvers-Queen; daughter of Kara and Oliver; she didn’t inherit a lot from the Kryptonian side of her family, but has more strength than a normal human and can fly; isn’t sure about being a vigilante, but thinks her parents are heroes for doing what they do
