my last chance to post soft asa + asaden content before nayuta explodes them with her mind
i headcanon that asa pulls on her bangs as a stim/when she’s frustrated (i’m projecting)
also she likes to tug and play with the hem of denjis sleeve but if he notices or tries to hold her hand she’ll stop and get mad so he has to pretend like he doesn’t notice 😔

i'm still seeing yoshida is evil theories but no 🤓☝️here's different but not separate think pieces i have of him. it'll be intricate?
/CSM THOUGHTS INTRO/
Tumblr media
last chapters only make it more clear to me that he'll free himself from public safety at some point (it may cost him a lot knowing fujimoto but point stands)
he's a BOYFAIL. he's only trying to his job but with someone like denji he can't control anything at all and mind you preventing an apocalypse isn't a high schooler job at all.
his history with devil hunting was probably much more different than kid denji's. he was a known private devil hunter at age of 16 and i believe it wasn't his debut year tho. he was more aware of what's going on and in the end he's one of the most closed characters. only second to makima to me. their distant personalities what made people to portray them similar ig bc no matter how much we saw them interact with other characters we're only left with inferences.
He is the city mouse who wants to be a country mouse.
he's like reze. a reze that grow up with an illusionist of freedom (allowing to go school etc) a reze that has given up on wanting a better
his conflict with denji comes from that he already agreed on becoming a cog in current system someone like denji refusing it frustrates him because more or less he's envy him. if it was him he'd chose one option already. he'd jump on the having a normal life.
Tumblr media
(he's actually talk about himself in this conversation but that's another topic)
he doesn't have a beef with asa stop this 😭😭 he def thinks she's a threat not sure if he know what exactly going on with her but he didn't hand him to public safety so either he talked with fumi(which is eh to me) or he's not the evil mastermind y'all claim him to be.
they'll be best of BESTIES with denji (and with asa)
kishibe is the one who throw him into this mess
and my most groundless hc: he'll get along with yoru. yoshiasaden + yorubesties arc is incoming i fear
goodbye with favorite yoshida sequence

The tragedy of just wanting Asa and Denji to be happy lil' guys together but knowing there's still 2 unknown horsemen, a fake chainsaw man, and lord knows what else Fujimoto has planned. I just want them to spend 2 hours together playing with Meowy and the dogs and making super toast with Nayuta.
AMEN!!! FUJIMOTO IS DANGLING A CARROT ON A STICK IN FRONT OF US AND WE ARE FLOCKING TOWARDS THE FRUITLESS GOAL LIKE MINECRAFT PIGS ONLY TO BE LED OFF S LEDGE TO OUR DEATH FOR AN ACHIEVEMENT
I need some domestic moments I really do. I need some silly shit I NEED IT
I think Nayuta would be like :| why do you call my brother babygirl to Asa while Asa is battling thru tears and Yoru’s in her ear like **HEY IS THAT BABY THE FUCKING CONQUEST DEVIL???**
Thought I’m not sure Yoru would notice other Horsemen since it didn’t notice the other horsemen we were introduced to
I also think Nayuta should be able to know Yoru’s presence and also see Yoru but says literally nothing about it and just assumes everyone knows
Anyways I need them all to have bestie hang outs I think Asa would love Meowy and I hope she’s allergic to dogs so whenever she enters their home she keels over and dies and denji kicks her in the side like DUDE GET UPPP
Aaa using Meowy as an excuse to come over even if she dies every time she enters the door due to Dog Allergy just so she can vibe with Denji and Nayuta more bc I know ur lonely Asa. Ur sooooo lonely ur SO lonely and Denji needs more friends in general so it works out
Idk Denji and Asa spinning beybladed at eachother. While just kinda chilling on the floor while Nayuta’s watching tv nearby
Need their silly hang outs so VICIOUSLY. IM LIKE A SICKLY VICTORIAN CHILD AND THIS IS THE CURE THAT HAS BEEN CARRIED VIA SLED DOG TO ME

Chainsaw Man Extended Thoughts Edition Under Cut
Denji: Just makes me sad not even on an effective emotional level it’s just a flat ah man kinda sadness that you feel when someone like trauma dumps in another person’s twitch chat and you feel bad for them but are also like dude I didn’t ask. I think theoretically speaking exploring the like Stupid, Naive, Young Shounen Protagonist and how rife that situation is for manipulation and exploitation Could be really interesting and the author’s clear personal investment in the situation could’ve primed him to do something interesting with it but the fact he hasn’t at all come to realize why these things happen in society and is just haunted by the Woman Devil or something. makes it. uhm. He’s sooo scared of the idea of a woman wanting to date him for an ulterior motive he does that plot literally 3 times. At least this final time it’s like another teenage with her own complex motivations and not just literally the USSR’s Bomb Devil Sleeper Agent (real plot point). I will say there is a certain low tier intrinsic satisfaction to seeing his development with Asa where he says he won’t just listen to what he tells him and is going to go do what he wants.
Makima: When she’s not on screen with Denji I did actually find her to be an interesting character and villain. The idea of a devil who by her very nature doesn’t hate humans and instead wants to build a perfect cage for them is like, not unexplored, but certainly less common than villains who just want to destroy shit for fun, so that was at least a little more fresh than the alternatives that could’ve been done. And the thing about her losing because in her egoism she never once recognized Denji as an individual person and only cared about him for Pochita is like a fine narrative cap even if the way that Chainsaw Man obsession was written was fucking unimaginably misogynistic. But my god her writing around Denji most of the time oh my god oh my god this writer hates women so much.
Power: I mean she’s just a joke character the writer got far too invested in. Having her around as the only teenage girl of the main cast to give Denji someone his age to bounce off of was something of a relief though the way the author framed and wrote her also made me want to kill him with a tire iron. Her plot progression ultimately felt so condensed like he realized he forgot to do a narrative for her and needed to do it all at the end. The whole “find me again and make me Power again” thing was I guess cute #besties.
Aki: Only character with an actually compelling story that was told completely. It felt a little rushed, unlike every other plot where I was begging for any kind of development or progression at all he was having progression happen to him all the time in fast forward and then he exploded and died. The snowball scene was horrifically corny but at least kind of emotionally impactful. Predictably his dynamic with Angel is the only thing I actually care about.
Kobeni: I can’t think about Kobeni for too long or I’ll get actually angry. The fact so many misogynistic men who were fetishizing her until the anime and then were like “omg she’s actually so annoying” and people were like “lol that’s the point !!! see it’s not misogynistic it’s feminist” makes me literally want to kill somebody. It’s not even like she’s that bad of a character like she’s being full force blasted by the misogyny beam but I could’ve tolerated her better without knowing the external reaction to her from every source. I think the only way they could’ve salvaged a good gag from her character is if when her car got totaled she’d flipped the fuck out and killed Santa herself like that is the only possible way Fujimoto could’ve salvaged any part of the joke of her character but that would mean letting any female character have a smidgen of agency and he couldn’t do that so. Other than that I think the only tolerable part of her character is that she became absolute besties with the Violence Devil if ONLY that had gotten explored more.
Angel: Not technically a main character but he is in my heart. The fact he was able to break out of Makima’s mind control has so many interesting implications that will never ever be explored. Is it because as a fellow devil who holds no hatred (though still holds malice) towards humans their powers are actually very close to each other? We will never know because the author doesn’t care! The scene with Aki grabbing his hand to save him is the only one that exists in my perfect mindscape.
I guess I HAVE to talk about these guys since they’re main characters now
Asa: I cannot fucking believe that this guy who clearly thinks it’s the ultimate evil to sexually exploit teenage boys is perfectly fine drawing Asa the way he draws her. Her researching fish for hours to go on a fake date with Denji is some kind of maneuver I am mildly charmed by her but the noxious radiation of how she is treated and also the fact this manga is Still Going For Some Reason makes it hard to think about her.
Hirofumi: I’m glad he’s back I found his design so cutie he is like a cat to me. Straight up thought he died in the Hell Devil/Darkness Devil encounter. We don’t know enough about him for further commentary.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 105 Thoughts
Tumblr media
It’s been some time since I’ve shared my thoughts on the Chainsaw Man manga, but after going through some new years resolution I already kept in mind for what needed to be done.  What might that be, you might ask?  Catching up to my thoughts on the latest chapter to the manga.
Anyway, continuing from where we left off previously,  Denji revealed himself to be Chainsaw Man to Asa who immediately took off because she thought he was a loser for saying something stupid like that.  Interestingly enough we open up the chapter with Asa having a debate with Yoru on what Denji told her. Asa expressing serious doubt that he is in deed Chainsaw Man.   On the other hand, Yoru believes that Denji could be telling the absolute truth.  It leads to a rather amusing moment where Yoru tells Asa that she’s not stupid, and then the latter takes back her response.
From the moment school is done for the day, Yoru suggests that they should go devil hunting because the time to join the club for devil hunters is drawing near, but Asa refuses because she made plans to visit Yuko for the day.  At first,  Yoru believes Asa is simply wasting time cause they have to draw Chainsaw Man out, but she even says drawing a devil would make that very possible.  That leaves the War Devil in thought about which approach they should take, but Asa tells her to come up with something while she’s visiting Yuko.  Yoru on the other hand, thinks to herself that maybe she could be tamed.
This bring us to the 2nd half where Asa is spending time with her best friend Yuko at her place. Things are full of joy and fun while they besties are spending time with one another.  Yuko is even giving Asa a lot of praise for being the one that saved her life by dubbing her as “Chainsaw Woman”.  Which was something that she brushed off to the side and instead decided to join her friend in a sunbathe with a few cans of soft drink.
That was where things were left rather awkward in pure silence for a moment which was pointed out by both people.  At least it is until the topic of shared secrets are brought into mix and left Asa precautious and a bit uneasy.  Yuko desperately tried to convince her to spill and Asa revealed that in grade school she peed on herself  in class only to lie with “I was just sweating.  Not long after did it take for Yuko to burst into  a huge laughter to a point where her legs began to hurt.
Even though it was a rather embarrassing story on Asa’s behalf, she passed the baton onto Yuko for her deepest desire to be told.  Once it was told  a vow was made so that a soul wouldn’t ever know. That was the agreement Yuko made to Asa before it was revealed. Less than a day ago, Yuko had killed someone who happened to be her neighbor which threw off Asa completely. A thought which came into Asa’s mind was whether or not Yuko was just joking about that statement. It would’ve been had if things weren’t left in silence again between them just a moment until Yuko told Asa she’d show her the body that’s buried in the backyard. Okay, that totally added another layer of awkwardness and tension between them.  A typical response someone would say is no which is exactly what Asa says to Yuko.
It could’ve just stopped there, but then Yuko decided to address a few more things to Asa that was on her mind. Secrets that won’t ever revealed to others. The story when she peed herself in the middle of class, along with deaths of the class president, the death of Asa’s teacher, and Yoru. That came as a complete shock to Asa in the moment as she wonder...  Yuko revealed to  Asa that she knew these things after making a contract with the Justice Devil the day before.  Doing so gave her the ability to read people’s minds which gave Yuko a chance to finally breath after keeping it for the time,  The reason why  the contract was even being was because Yuko wants to save Asa from all her bully troubles. She  even takes it a step further by warning her not come to school tomorrow bringing an end to the chapter.
All in all,  I give this chapter of Chainsaw Man an Amazing+ rating.  I can’t stress enough how much I love Tatsuki Fujimoto structures each chapter for the story he’s telling especially continuing directly off from the previous chapter.  The inner clash between Asa and Yoru was really interesting in showcasing their thought process and how different they both truly are, and shows how both character have their valid reasons why Denji can or can’t be Chainsaw Man.  Yes, we as a readers know that Denji is Chainsaw Man after following his journey throughout Part 1 so it’s gonna be interesting to see what happens when that get revealed to Asa in the future. I also continue to be impressed by how suspense Fujimoto can take Part 2 so far through Asa’s character when it comes her spending time with Yuko.  The way he blends different kinds of emotions of laughter in the beginning only to then make thing feel ominous once the topic of the dead body in the backyard is brought up, and of course Yuko being The Justice Devil.
The only thing that was missing from this chapter was not getting any updates from Denji, but I think that’s okay with the story Tatsuki Fujimoto is telling with Part 2.  This is pretty much all I have to say about my thoughts for this chapter of Chainsaw Man  and soon I’ll share my thoughts on Chapter 106 while catching up to the latest which.. we still got a bit of ways before I’m fully caught up on my thoughts to the current events!  Until then, I hope you all take care of yourselves out there.
