Nah I have no idea about what Jayden has done, like what have he done? I just make a fan art of tranquillity, clever, and their children cause he asked me to. okokok so- (*warning, whole bunch of talk about religious trauma ahead and how I think it affects javey*)

I think both jack and davey have some form of religious trauma, right? davey grew up jewish, surrounded by people of faith and the ideals they believed in (including the homophobic ones justified by religious beliefs), and probably went through MULTIPLE crises of faith over the years, especially when he realized he was gay. and then jack grew up on the streets of new york (or, if you put it in a modern lens- the american foster system, which isn’t much better), running from law enforcement, constantly being degraded for factors he can’t control. from what he encountered, I wouldn’t say he had great religious experiences, either.

so both of them have trauma related to religion, both of them have opinions about a god that hates them, that hasn’t protected them, hasn’t loved them. they’re on their own, and no god is coming to save them.

what happens when everything else falls apart? maybe one of them gets sick, grievously so. maybe they don’t have enough money to pay their rent, and they suddenly find themselves on the street? someone they love passes unexpectedly, and they don’t know what to do? what then? who do they turn to?

or or or better yet, one of them finds themself praying to the sky for help, to a god they don’t believe in, and it’s a moment of utter shock. shock, disgust, self-loathing. how could you turn to the thing that has done nothing but curse you, over and over? come to repent when you have done nothing wrong??
