You can find a lot of papers on the internet that try to educate you “ how to make your move stress-free ”. still, we do n’t agree with that. Moving implies a bit of stress because it's an important decision. There are also numerous effects you have to do and make sure you complete rightly. Not to mention that, like nearly everything, it implies change and some misgivings. That's why we're religionists of making moving less stressful. An important part of achieving that's knowing that, rationally, moving is a stressful event. numerous effects demand your attention and it can overwhelm you at times! still, rest assured that it's fully possible to make the experience less stressful.
5 PRACTICAL, HANDY TIPS TO MAKE MOVING LESS STRESSFUL
1. Accept that stress is a normal part of the moving process The first step to prostrating moving stress isacceptance. However, you ’re less likely to let it set you back when it happens, If you admit that you're presumably going to dodge some stress over the course of your move. You'll be prepared for it. suppose about it like this stress is a natural mortal response to a demanding circumstance. still, you have a say-so in how you reply to that stress. You can take it as commodity negative and have a bad time. Or you can work your way through it and negotiate great effects. Our stylish advice is to take the stress for what it's and admit the feeling. That way, you can actually work with it rather of being controlled by it. The most important thing is to fete the stress without letting it discourage you from the tasks at hand.
2. Stay systematized! commodity that will help you a lot before, during, and after your move is to be organized every step of the way! For this, a list will be a veritably good supporter. There are a lot of effects you have to do ahead, during, and after a move. Keeping all of this only in your head could lead to redundant stress and to forgetting some details. So to reduce stress and minimize obliviousness, writing everything down will surely make a big difference! There are numerous coffers on the internet that can help you. You can check out packing rosters or moving rosters to get some alleviation.
3. Honor the trip, all of it Moving is also a heavily emotional process. piecemeal from all the effects you have to do, moving means a lot of change will come to your life. You leave effects before and you meet new people. This can induce both stress and excitement. So, honor that process and live the trip completely. effects that can help ease your stress are to probe about your new city, neighbourhood or megacity. Do n’t concentrate only on what you're leaving before and how that makes you sad. You can also look forward to all the new, cool effects awaiting you!
4. Try to keep a positive mindset Keeping a positive mindset makes a big difference in every aspect of your life, not just moving! Science has shown that positive thinking helps with stress operation and can indeed ameliorate your health. So while you face the stress generated by your forthcoming move, flash back to see it in a positive light. Embrace it, accept it, be patient with yourself. And try to see the bright side of effects. This will surely make a difference for the better. It's also veritably important to look for support in musketeers and family rather of dealing with everything by yourself. Speaking with others will help you keep your bases predicated and not get carried down by the stress.
5. Reduce clutter as much as possible Clutter is stressful. So to reduce the visual stress created by clutter, try to minimize the junk that’s enwrapping redundant space in your home. You'll feel more relieved nearly incontinently. You can clear the clutter using the Marie Kondo system or simply by organizing effects into three piles vend, contribute, and throw down. This will also help you a lot with moving, because you'll have lower effects to worry about. You can indeed look at moving as an occasion to declutter. Flash back how we talked about trying to keep a positive mindset? Well, how you approach organizing and decluttering can make a big difference. Oh, and another pro tip? unload in your new position as soon as you can. This will help you avoid effects piling up.

FAQs
How much does it cost to move a billiard table?
The price of moving a pool table depends on several factors. These include the size and weight of the table, the distance to be covered, and the difficulty of disassembling and reassembling the table. The price may be affected by additional services like recushioning and re-carpeting. To compare costs, it's best to get quotes from several professional movers. Contacting the company directly is usually the best way to obtain a free or firm quote.
How much does it cost to have someone set up a pool table?
Costs for setting up a pooltable can vary depending on a number of factors. These include the type and size of the table, the location and any other services needed. This may include leveling the pool table, replacing felt or adjusting rails. To ensure proper installation, and to prevent damage, it's best to hire a professional. It's best that you contact a pool table professional for an accurate estimate.
Can you move a pool table without professionals?
It is possible to move a pool-table without the help of professionals, but it's not recommended. Pool tables are heavy, complex pieces of furniture which require expert handling. The wrong disassembly and reassembly of a pool table can cause damage or imbalance. Imagine moving a table weighing 1,200 pounds with delicate slate. The risk of damage would be high. Hiring professionals will ensure safe transport and proper setup so you can enjoy your pool table with no hassle.
Do you tip pool table movers?
Tipping pool table movers or other service providers is common and an excellent way to thank them for their work. Tipping can be varied, but the standard is 5-10% of total service costs or $20 to $40 per mover. You can consider tipping extra if you feel the movers did a great job. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Antarctica
A wooden Orthodox church was consecrated in 2004 in the harsh ice of Antarctica. Since then, the Divine Liturgy has been celebrated year-round in the middle of the white desert at the edge of the earth.
Peter and Valery took a blessing from Patriarch Alexy II and began collecting donations for the construction of the church. Over the three years of fund-raising, the church bells were cast and the iconostasis was prepared by artists from Palekh. In 2002, a cross was erected on the site of the future church on Mount Irina, above the Bellingshausen station.  On January 25 of the same year, a Divine Liturgy was first celebrated in Antarctica, praying for all the polar explorers who had perished here.
Finally, in 2004 the construction began. The wooden church was cut down and assembled in Altai. The materials used were cedar and larch, which become as strong as metal over time to endure the harsh Antarctic frosts and hurricane winds. Then the church was disassembled, with the logs numbered and transported by ship to King George Island (Waterloo) in Antarctica, where the Russian Bellingshausen station is located. In a few months, the church was assembled without a single nail and secured from the inside with steel chains to make it more stable on the cliffs. To avoid legal complications, it was formally registered as a mission of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
Peter Zadirov planned to consecrate the church (as he had already done in his homeland) in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of sailors and travellers. But God arranged things differently. The first Divine Liturgy, celebrated at the Bellingshausen station before the construction of the wooden church, was served in a plain metal container. The only icon on the table used as the altar was a small plastic image of St. Andrei Rublev’s Holy Trinity. Shortly before the service, this icon had been purchased in a Catholic shop in Punta Arenas, Chile by one of the construction sponsors travelling to Antarctica. This was seen as an omen, and the Antarctic church was subsequently consecrated in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity.
The consecration was performed on February 15, 2004 by Bishop Feognost (Guzikov), who was then vicar of the Trinity Sergius Lavra. Hieromonk Kallistrat (Romanenko) became the first serving priest in this church. Later, Father Kallistrat was chosen to be Bishop of Gorno-Altai and Chemal. But he did not leave his pastoral care of this church, and to the present day, Vladyka personally appoints priests to serve in Antarctica.
Surprisingly enough, it was in Antarctica that many polar explorers first came to God. On the next day after the church was consecrated, the Sacrament of Baptism was administered. The first to be baptized were the head of the Bellingshausen station, Oleg Sakharov, and the driver-mechanic Alexander Solovyov.
Oleg Sakharov later said that during difficult winter seasons and long polar nights, the station workers needed a place where they could come at any time to relieve their stress: “The church, whose warmth could be felt even by touching its logs, became such a place.”

A lot of people really liked seeing the outside of the Philips Intellivue MP5, so let’s take a look on the inside
Tumblr media
When you take off the back housing this is what you’re greeted with. We can see the power supply, the rear IO board, and the measurement module
Tumblr media
After removing a few more T-10 screws the power supply and the rear IO board slide right out. This is the rear IO board
1: USB port
2: Nurse call relay output
3: RJ45 Ethernet Jack
4: VGA video out
5: board to board interconnect for the power supply
6: Nurse call Relay, the actual Relay component
7: Battery contacts
8: An RJ45 Jack not accessible from the outside, if I had to guess this is either a management port, or it’s a backup port in case the one accessible from the outside breaks but qualified technicians still need Ethernet access to perform maintenance.
9: Piezoelectric buzzer, this will beep is the power supply suddenly gets disconnected and it will continue to beep for quite a while after the power supply is disconnected and even if there’s no battery on board
10: 2 super capacitors. Super capacitors have specs that are somewhere in between a battery and a capacitor. The larger one is rated at 2.2 farad and the smaller one is rated at 1 farad. Farad is the unit of measure for capacitance and it’s named after Michael Faraday. If I had to guess these serve 2 purposes. 1 is to make the power loss buzzer beep and the other is to keep the date and time and any configuration settings stored in volatile memory since there’s no CMOS battery. This is actually pretty smart because batteries die and often leak, but super capacitors don’t leak and corrode and they are ridiculously fast at charging up.
Tumblr media
After removing the power supply, recorder driver board, and rear IO board this is what we are left with. The motherboard, the measurement module, the NBP pneumatic pump, and the LCD high voltage backlight board. It uses a fluorescent backlight so it needs a high voltage to make it light up, this can be anywhere from 500 to 1200 volts but they often provide very little current so touching it probably kill you but I still wouldn’t recommend it.
Tumblr media
After removing the measurement module were left with just the backlight driver board, the motherboard, and the NBP pneumatic pump. There is a metal shield over the main components of the motherboard for EMI shielding.
Tumblr media
Removing the metal shield grants us access to the CPU (the largest chip on the board) what I assume is a graphics driver chip (the second largest square chip) and 2 EPROMs that are the memory for some software aspects.
Tumblr media
Once everything is out we can get a look at everything
1: Battery
2: measurement module side plate
3: measurement module
4: printer
5: Rear IO board
6: printer driver board
7: power supply
8: everything else
Tumblr media
The attention to detail is amazing! That one little hole in the plastic just exists to access that screw inside. You can certainly tell that this device was never meant to be a consumer device. It’s built to be taken apart and serviced. All the screws are identical which makes disassembly and reassembly very easy. Unlike consumer products you can definitely tell that there was no expense spared in this things hardware design, that’s due to the fact that they know hospitals are going to pay the 5 figure price of the device because of its extreme quality, attention to detail and very long projected life cycle. Unlike consumer electronics it’s made in Germany and has a ton of hand assembly involved.
Tumblr media
This is everything I have for mine. The monitor itself. 3 lead ECG cable. 5 lead ECG cable. Pulse oximeter. Hospital grade IEC power cable. Blood pressure hose. Adult arm blood pressure cuff. And the Intellivue remote. I got the remote today, idk why but people are selling them for super cheap on eBay. I paid $10 for it brand new in box. They usually go for like $500 from philips directly so I have no idea why people are selling them for so cheap. It does have to be plugged in via USB but it comes with a very long cable.
I finally got around to getting one of my servers to run the Intellivue XDS application. It’s a windows application meant to act as the server for Intellivue monitors. It also has a remote monitor function so you can view what’s on the monitor on the server, but it doesn’t work with the software version my monitor has. It can also log data but I spent 4 hours trying to setup the windows server needed to get that to work and just couldn’t get it to work. It’s probably due to the fact that the documentation on it is absolutely terrible.

It seems odd to me that the perishables person that's running the grinder would be pulled to a register. Ever. That's not their job.
Though it does have the big red flag of "other duties as assigned".
This is the first full time job listing to pop up at literally any of the grocery stores in my area but it's also not one I want to do. One of the things I hate the most about cooking is handling meat.
If there's an opening in their cheese dept. though....
Actually, I don't think they have a cheese department. The other grocery does, but got rid of most of the staff and started stocking only pre-packed cheeses mid-pandemic.

British fighter Hawker Hurricane 151 air wing RAF at Vaenga airfield near Murmansk 1941. On August 12, 1941, at the RAF 'Leconfield Camp' base, a formation was formed from experienced pilots who had fought in the skies over Britain and France, which was to go to the Soviet North. With the very first convoy from Britain to the USSR, the RAF 151st Air Wing went to Murmansk. 24 Hurricane fighters were loaded onto the aircraft carrier Argus and another 15 were packed into containers in disassembled form for delivery on merchant ships. On August 28, Argus arrived in Murmansk; on September 7, the fighters were assembled and transferred to the Vaenga airfield of the Northern Fleet Air Force. The 151st RAF Wing was the first Allied military unit to arrive to fight in Russia. It significantly strengthened the Northern Fleet Air Force. The arrival of 39 Hurricanes almost doubled the number of fighter aircraft of the Northern Fleet, which was transferred to the English unit under operational control. On September 11, 1941, British fighters made their first combat sortie on patrol near the front line, and on the 12th they encountered the enemy for the first time. Until October 20, British pilots flew 365 sorties; the number of enemy aircraft they destroyed is estimated by various sources to be from 12 to 16. British pilots covered troops near the front line and Murmansk, intercepted German bombers, and escorted Soviet bombers. “The Soviet command highly appreciated the services of the British pilots. Four of them (wing commander H. Ramsbottom-Isherwood, squadron commanders E. Rook and E. Miller and Sergeant C. Howe) were awarded the Order of Lenin.”
By the way, they are the only British servicemen who have these Soviet awards. The last specialists from the 151st wing returned home on the cruiser HMS Kenya in early December 1941. After the initiative on the fronts passed to the USSR, interaction with the British in the skies of the Arctic decreased.
The final chord, one might say, the apogee of the British presence in the Arctic, was the joint preparation with ours of several special operations in Norway. The target of these activities was the only (but what!) ship of the Kriegsmarine - a symbol of the naval power of the Reich - the battleship Tirpitz.

Organize Your Space with Heavy Duty Shelving in UAE
If you're tired of cluttered spaces and struggling to find storage solutions for heavy items, then heavy-duty shelving is the perfect solution for you. Heavy duty shelving is designed to withstand weight, making it ideal for storing bulky items such as tools, equipment, and boxes. In the UAE, there are many options for heavy-duty shelving, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your needs.
Materials:
When it comes to heavy-duty shelving, steel is the most popular material due to its durability and strength. However, there are also other materials available such as aluminum and plastic, which can be a more affordable option. The material you choose depends on your budget and the weight of the items you plan to store.
Designs:
There are several designs of heavy-duty shelving available in the UAE, including boltless shelving, pallet racks, and wire shelving. Boltless shelving is easy to assemble and disassemble, making it ideal for those who frequently move their storage around. Pallet racks are perfect for storing large, bulky items, while wire shelving is great for ventilation and storing items such as food products.
Load Capacity:
Load capacity is an essential factor to consider when choosing heavy-duty shelving. Make sure to select a shelving unit that can handle the weight of the items you plan to store. Most heavy-duty shelving units in the UAE have a load capacity ranging from 500kg to 2000kg, depending on the design and material.
Cost:
The cost of heavy-duty shelving varies depending on the materials, design, and load capacity. Steel shelving is generally more expensive, while plastic and aluminum shelving are more affordable.
Installation:
Most heavy-duty shelving units in the UAE are easy to install, with minimal tools required. However, some manufacturers offer installation services for an additional fee.

What is Composable Commerce?
Composable Commerce can be best described as a paradigm shift that empowers businesses to create and deliver seamless, personalized, and exceptional digital experiences for their customers. It is an approach that breaks free from the limitations of traditional monolithic commerce systems, opening doors to unparalleled flexibility, agility, and growth.
Introducing Composable Commerce
Composable Commerce can be defined as an innovative approach that empowers businesses to create tailored commerce solutions by assembling flexible, interchangeable components. Its key principles revolve around modularity, interoperability, and the ability to compose and recompose commerce functionalities based on specific business needs. It embraces a granular and decoupled architecture that enables businesses to achieve unprecedented flexibility and customization.
In contrast to traditional commerce systems, Composable Commerce stands out due to its modular and API-driven approach. Rather than being bound by rigid monolithic structures, Composable Commerce allows businesses to integrate best-of-breed components seamlessly. This freedom from vendor lock-in enables faster innovation, easier adaptation to market changes, and the ability to leverage specialized services and technologies.
Adopting a Composable Commerce approach brings forth numerous benefits for businesses:

19 Dec 2022: What if shops didn’t sell things?
Tumblr media
Hail and farewell
This is the last Co-op Digital newsletter. It has had an excellent and enjoyable run, thank you to everyone who helped get it going with decisions, everyone who kept it going with content, and everyone who read it. We’ve been wrapping up with 3 questions. Previously: more radical membership and more than a shop?
Thank you all for reading and sending ideas. The Co-op story continues on the magnificent Co-op Digital blog. Rod will still be writing about climate change and carbon transformation at Holdfast and about money at Checksies. See you there?
What if shops didn’t sell things?
Supermarkets and many other types of retail businesses are often high volume/tight margin machines, looking to increase volume and find small gains and complementary products and services with higher margins. Will this always be the case?
As climate change bites into the world, making it less predictable, will the cost and availability of materials change the dynamic for retail? Do supply chains fracture? Will managing the entire lifecycle of products and packaging add cost that makes retail unviable, or will it unlock new business? Can shopping fit into circular economies if recycling and reuse becomes central? What if shops bought things from you, instead of selling them to you?
2040
Aya looks the length of the warehouse. There’s a haze in the distance where the unfactory starts and above the superstructure is barely visible behind the ambient dayglow. A city inside a building.
She pulls the door shut on her housing unit and walks to the bus stop. There’s only a couple of minutes to wait before a driverless bus pulls up. These carbon grey boxes crawl the building, patiently looping between the different work, housing and leisure zones.
Aya gets on the bus and sits. Her glasses immediately pop up an interactive about hitting this month’s KPIs. With a glance she flicks it away, and looks the other way to access shopping. A carousel of plaid shirts flickering across the field of view, partly obscuring the view out of the window of apartment blocks, terraced 2-up 2-downs, community centres, and behind her in the distance parkland and the executive mcmansions. Aya considers buying a shirt that says 2005 and has all the confidence of that era. The checkout dances and says: “Hey you know you could put that 229.50 into something more long term? Say Pension to put it to work for you.” Aya sighs, shuts her eyes and whispers “Cancel”, the UI an afterimage in reversed colours.
Aya steps off the bus at the warehousing zone and passes through two layers of perimeter security: ID badge and then a tongue print which performs ID verification and a recreational drugs test. Now she is matter-side. She steps through the air wall into a cavernous space: kilometres of racking, ducting, assembly areas, disassembly areas, recycling, storage, cabling, transport, uncountable shelves of racking and gigantic bays of raw material.
10 years ago, at peak shopping, this building was Amazon’s largest fulfilment centre, the entire building performing inventory, pick and pack - all of it heading into cardboard boxes, out the loading bays and to everyone’s home via the Amazon-only lanes on the motorways.
Since then, the building has grown and evolved in response to 15 years of carbon budgets and circular economy targets. The shadow of the smile logo is still faintly visible on the wall. The work is now two-way: they’re doing as much inbound for recycling as they do outbound retail: the increasing value of material feedstocks made disassembly and recycling higher margin businesses. Across the way, building crews are pulling out the pick and pack racking, and hauling in more recyc stations.
Conveyor belts of toys, consumer goods, electronics, plastic items, everything. Some things are automatically sorted, separated by size or material type into smaller flows on smaller conveyors, a river delta. The metal goes off along a conveyor to be remelted in a distant area. The plastic is ripped apart into uncountable white-edged grains of feed stock.
Further away, and behind more layers of security, are the goop vats where the synthetic bio voodoo happens. There’s a smell of ammonia and long chain polymers everywhere, which the air ducting cannot ever remove entirely.
Here though, the river belt meanders through rows of stations, where human-robot pairs work next to each other, pulling objects off the main belt and moving them to several smaller tributary belts for onward sorting.
Aya walks up to the only unstaffed station. A fixed robot is at the wide conveyor belt. Its body is a 7-axis spine of rotatable stainless steel segments that look more like muscles than components. Its arm ends in an array of cameras, lidar sensors and rubber tipped and suction manipulators. Around the robot is a 2 metre no-go zone hashed out in hazard orange. It has placed several objects in that space around its base. A Casio watch. A christmas tree toy. A clown painting on black velvet. Lego pieces.
The supervisor approaches and shrugs at Aya: “You make it work, if you can. I in’t going near it though…” Aya swipes her badge into the work station. The robot’s arm monitors everything that passes on the belt under it, occasionally twitching as if indecisive. But it is not moving and not sorting items.
Aya watches the belt for a while and reaches out to pick up an old lunch box in blue and red plastic. She shows it to the robot, and then with great care Aya places it on the floor, inside the no-go zone, and steps back. The robot’s arm bends, the array inspecting the lunchbox for several seconds.
Then it straightens, moves back over the belt, and starts grabbing objects and sorting them.

anyway I’m in a truly foul mood because I just spent 9-12 and then 1-3:30 assembling this expensive (for me) TV console that turned out to be a total piece of shit. the particleboard broke in three separate places during assembly and the whole thing is so unstable it feels like it would collapse if anyone leaned against it. now I’m battling with customer service because I originally requested the ‘keep it at a discount’ option after the first piece broke and I thought I could wood glue it back together. but now I just want to light it on fire and get my money back (I’ll never get my day back!!). I am like 90% sure they’re going to charge me for return shipping and/or try to make me disassemble it before shipping the broken parts back and that makes me want to SCREAM

PTFE tape vs. Paste as Thread Sealant for Taper threads
Taper threads require a thread sealant for lubrication to prevent damage from galling and seizing during assembly. Thread sealants also fill any voids between the two threads that could cause a spiral leak.
Cylinder valve standards related to installing cylinder valves with taper threads into the cylinders allow both PTFE tape and paste to be used as a thread sealant. However, PTFE tapes are much more commonly used in the gas industry than paste. My experience is that most users are not aware of the possibility of using thread sealant paste.
Tumblr media
Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, and being aware of them is the first step in making an informed choice about their usage. In both cases, it is essential to choose the proper specification of thread sealants to ensure compatibility with the cylinder valve, cylinder, and the gas service/s for which the valve shall be used.
Benefits of Thread sealant paste:
Unlike PTFE tape, which has to be removed before re-application, thread sealant pastes (like Krytox™ TS4) can be reapplied over the existing paste.
Pastes easily cling to threads and do not shred or tear during assembly /disassembly.
Pastes are easier and faster to apply on the threads, unlike tapes that need operator skill to ensure the correct taping procedure is followed (unless the taping process is automated).
Benefits of PTFE tape:
PTFE tapes are more forgiving to machining inaccuracy, and they tend to assist in making the thread joint leak proof even if the threads are machined slightly out of specification.
The cost-effectiveness of both solutions has to be evaluated case by case by the user. Either solution may prove cost-effective depending upon variables not limited to the thread sealant cost, labour cost, quantity, and how frequently the cylinder valves are required to be uninstalled and reinstalled into the cylinder.
Supposing users responsible for installing cylinder valves into cylinders have never used or evaluated the possibility of using paste as a cost-effective thread sealant, I encourage them to give it a try.

Walking through Trollmarket, Liz steps beside Blinky, listening in to Blinky's plan of finding proof of the existence of changelings. "The matter at hand, Master Jim...Master Jim?"
Noticing Blinky staring over his shoulder, Liz looks back to find Jim staring at her with a dazed look until AAARRRGGHH shouts behind him. "MASTER JIM!"
"Gah!" Jim screamed, jumping in surprise and looking back at Blinky. "Yes, sorry. Paying attention!" Then, at Liz, his gaze now cleared from his thoughts. "Paying attention."
Quickly Liz faces forward, trying to hide a faint blush crossing her cheeks behind her hair. What is wrong with her? Why is she getting flustered over a stare?
She shakes her head, patting her cheeks to rid of the flush though her action does not go unnoticed by Blinky, whose eyebrow raised at her reaction while continuing his plan. "As I was saying, assuming that Killahead Bridge was in Arcadia, and it was indeed, as you say, delivered to a clandestine location, that would mean more changelings, scavenging, assembling, and disassembling. If we prove that the museum curator wasn't working alone, then Vendel might start believing that you saw the Killahead Bridge."
"So, we find another changeling." Jim paraphrased it.
"Stop saying that so loudly." Blinky scolded. Once again, the same eavesdropper who was listening to them back in the pub stood nearby. "Do you mind?"
Schmidt rolls his eyes and walks away. Blinky scoffs, continuing in a softer tone. "Changelings have not been heard or seen in Trollmarket for centuries. The mere word could cause hysteria."
"Then how do we find one?" Jim asked as the group walked deeper into Trollmarket. AAARRRGGHH replies with a grin. "RotGut's."
"Woah." Jim and Toby gaped in wonder. The group enters through a large archway with a carved statue of a troll towards the back wall covered with colorful patterned engravings. Only two tiny doors stood out, one higher than the other. Liz smiled in delight at the place, having frequent there every so often to gather supplies and books to practice magic and announce its purpose. "Purveyor of fine charms, totems, and spells."
"Follow my lead." Blinky knocks on the iron door handle. A large gem-paned window moves open to reveal a giant blue eye. Rot, the first one to appear, spoke. "Ailment or curse?"
A door on the bottom opens as a green eye appears. Guts, the second troll, spoke out as well. "Oi, numbskull! I'm supposed to answer it!"
"But I already did answer it." Rot said, but Guts argued, closing his door even though he could still be heard. "What is not clear about. "I deal with the customers, you handle the wizardry"?"
Noticing the familiar face of their regular customer, Rot greeted. "Oh, hey there, Liz. Hold a tick."
He closed the window, and Blinky laughed, entertained. Liz shakes her head but smiles at the familiar bickering between the trolls. Jim and Toby glance at each other when suddenly the door opens again. "Good, Rot. Stick with that. Welcome to RotGut's. How may we service you?"
"Totem, my good troll. We suspect one of these humans may be a changeling."
"Hmm?" Rot hummed in question. He looks at the boys, but AAARRRGGHH appears behind them protectively. "Other humans."
Rot looked at Blinky and Liz, answering. "You're gonna need a gaggletack."
Gut chuckled. "Unfortunately, you see, we're running a bit short on those. Very hard to get."
"But I've got a bag of them right here." Rot said, calling out the lie.
"What in the world – If you'll excuse us for one moment." Gut panics before closing the door once again for privacy. "Ey, what are you doing? I'm trying to drive up the price over here."
"I thought we were trying to help these nice lads, and Liz is our regular customer." Rot said before closing the window.
"Gaggletack?" Toby asked, looking at AAARRRGGHH. "Rare artifact."
"Exceedingly rare," Blinky emphasized. "An object of great mystery. With physical contact, it reveals the true nature of a changeling."
Liz nodded in approval. "Just the tool we need to get our proof."
"Why don't you open the door...." Guts said as the window opened once more, revealing Rot. "Step back, please."
The group took a step back while Gut still ranted from the inside. "......our hard-earned bits and bobs?"
Suddenly, a little drawer pushed open as the item flew from the opening, missing Liz, who sidestepped just in time as it smacked right into Toby's face, quickly knocking him to the ground with a groan. "It hurts!"
Jim winced before picking it up. "It's a horseshoe."
"Horseshoes are made out of steel in most cases. This one is made of pure iron. Changelings are vulnerable to iron," Liz answers as Toby stands, a little wobbly at first.
"Why would you put such a precious thing on a horse's foot?" Blinky asked in disbelief.
"Huh?" Jim asked as he and Toby shared a look. Liz chuckled. "Horses wear shoes primarily to strengthen and protect the hooves and feet, and to prevent the hooves from wearing down too quickly."
"Interesting," Blinky said. "Beware. Changelings are swapped with their human counterparts at birth. So, it is likely these troll pretenders have dwelt amongst you for decades. They could be anyone. Used car salesmen, tax collectors, television executives."
"Dentists." Toby points out. Blinky laughs. "Yes, especially dentists."
Liz shares a look with Jim, but he merely shrugs and asks, "So, who do we start with?"
Toby rips the gaggletack from Jim's hand, a handful of suspicious people in mind. "Oh, I've got a few ideas."
"Great, but be subtle. We don't want to alert the changelings before we can find them."
"Piece of cake."
***
At school the next day, Liz overhears the students talking about Toby getting into trouble for tapping Coach Lawrence with a horseshoe and setting up a horseshoe toss.
What happened with being subtle? Liz thought as she shut her locker door and headed toward the gym for play rehearsal.
On stage, while reading her script, Steve was practicing his lines. "Shall I hear more, or shall I speak–"
Suddenly, a horseshoe flew out from nowhere and hit Steve in the forehead, bouncing off to the floor near the drapes.
"Whoa! Steve, are you okay?" Liz asked in concern as Steve leaned over in pain, clutching his head before calling out angrily, searching for the culprit behind her backstage. "Hey! Who did that?!"
"What?" Liz mumbled, looking at the horseshoe on the floor, when suddenly a hand quickly swiped the horseshoe away from behind the curtains. Realizing who it was, she shook her head.
Oh, Jim.
***
After walking Steve to the health room post-rehearsal, Liz went to the courtyard, where she saw Toby tapping students in his path at random with an exhausted look on his face. Luckily, none of the students transformed. She couldn't imagine how she was going to handle that kind of situation. Liz sighs, following Toby to the lockers where Jim was. "Any luck?"
"Nope," Toby replied with disappointment as Jim closed his locker. "Yeah, I struck out, too."
"That's unfortunate." Liz walks up to them, stopping beside Toby. "Though I admit, your way of revealing a changeling is slightly obvious. It won't surprise me if one catches us searching for them by now."
In the distance, Liz caught sight of Mr. Strickler, who was walking by a small group of girls – Claire's friends. "I don't believe that's appropriate school attire."
"You, uh, try this out on Mr. Strickler?" Toby suggests to Jim, who instantly protests the idea. "Come on. You really think he is one?"
"Who knows?" Liz crossed her arms over her chest, staring at the teacher. "We'll never know until we find out for sure."
Toby looked at the horseshoe before looking back up at Strickler and heading in his direction, but Jim stopped him. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Now? I don't want to embarrass ourselves."
Jim grabs onto the gaggletack, but Toby holds on, pulling it back. "You just don't want to admit that Strickler–"
"I don't want you to upset anyone who grades our final exams!" This time, Jim pulls it back as Toby lets go. "Fine! Okay, we'll do it later."
The school bell rings as Toby pulls it suddenly away from Jim and throws it in Strickler's direction. The points of his shoes barely touched the gaggletack. Liz observes only to find Strickler's unreadable expression.
"Whoopsy! Slipped." Toby said.
"Sorry." Jim quickly apologized before going to retrieve it. However, Toby moved his arm before him, stopping him in his tracks. "Uh, mind picking that up for us, Mr. S?"
Strickler scoffs. "And waste such idle hands as your own, Mr. Domzalski?"
Liz frowns at his response, her suspicion of the history teacher growing slightly. It's almost as if he knows what it is and is avoiding it.
"Our backs." Jim chuckles, playing along. "Coach Lawrence put us through the wringer this morning."
Strickler looks at Liz. "What about you, Ms. Walker? Since you are physically adept, from what I heard, perhaps you could pick this up for them."
"I would if it was in front of me, Mr. Strickler, though I don't see why that is not the case for you," Liz said, her gaze unwavering. Strickler quirked an eyebrow with amusement. He knew what was going on. After all, finding out that the Trollhunter was a mere student and the object lying in front of him with their useless excuses, he knew the way all too well.
Claire interrupted the moment by picking up the horseshoe for him and holding it out for Strickler to take. "Here you go, Mr. Strickler. Here's your horseshoe back."
Jim and Toby sighed as Mr. Strickler thanked Claire. "Thank you, Ms. Nunez, but that belongs to Mr. Lake."
"Oh. Well, that would explain the random tapping with horseshoes. So not going to ask." She handed the horseshoe to Jim, who laughed nervously as Strickler came to his side. "Take care of your back, Young Atlas. Such is the danger of carrying the world on one's shoulders."
As he left, Claire raised her eyebrow at his words, then looked at the Gaggletack and Jim with suspicion.
"Very suspicious," Toby said. Liz nodded, her eyes not leaving the teacher until he disappeared around a corner. "Tell me about it."
"Suspicious?" Claire said as Jim jumped slightly, realizing she was still there. "Claire."
"Still here."
"What's up?" Liz asked, hoping that Claire didn't catch on to their suspicious activities.
"You're still coming home with me, right?"
"Huh?" Liz and Jim asked simultaneously, making them both look at each other. Claire glanced between the two of them before speaking to Liz. "Remember, movie night at my place? The prequels? My parents are out and want me to watch Enrique for tonight."
"Oh, man. It's tonight?" Liz glances at Jim before looking guilty at Claire, uncrossing her arms. "Sorry, Claire. I know I made plans, but I have a study sesh with someone who needs my help. Raincheck?"
Again, Claire glanced between Liz and Jim before realizing something and hiding a smile. "Really? Well, I guess it could wait then. I'll text you when we can watch next time."
"Thanks, Claire." Liz thanked. As soon as Claire was gone, Jim asked in confusion. "What was that about?"
"Forgot that I had a movie night with Claire planned at her place. I didn't know it would be tonight." Liz explained, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "But your call for help takes precedent."
"Oh, right! Liz and I are gonna go to the Bistro...for math stuff." Jim said simply, handing Toby the gaggletack.
"Yup, we'll meet up at the cafe at six. I should be done with my shift by then." Liz nodded, turning to Toby. "Meanwhile, you can keep searching for the changelings and let us know when you find anything."
"You can count on me." Toby saluted to her before Liz and Jim walked off, leaving him on his own, a smile creeping onto his face. "And, now, my horseshoe-shaped little friend, we expose the definite changeling in our midst."
