Mystery/Thriller Monday

Billy Lowe is his high school, the Denton Pirate’s, star running back. Also, his home life is not good at all. And so, the new coach of the Pirates, Trent, takes Billy in. But, everyone’s lives get even more complicated when Billy’s mother’s horrible boyfriend is found dead, and Billy is the prime suspect.

The book was a lot of different things all put together into one intense package. It’s a little bit of a sports book, it’s a lot of a noir mystery sort of book, and, it’s also a book about family and religion for sure. The ‘what’s family’ sort of theme being what brings in most of the drama in a lot of it. And, the characters, not all of them are the best people, but, they are so awesomely written to be that way.
