Past Life Dark Urge Asks - 3rd Edition:

Name one specific song that fits the vibe for a vivisection partaken in by your Durge. What would it be?

Speaking of vivisections; Sceleritas famously messed one up once. How did you Durge react go that? Did it have lasting consequences for the little imp?

The Netherstone, how did they wear it? Did they even wear it?

Why the red Netherstone and not the purple one? After all, a proper bhaalist priest should wear purple robes, so they should have that colour and not Gortash, right? What was the reason behind the switch? Bestie Bracelets? Secret promises? Just plain defiance?

What was their class, and what was their favourite way to use its perks? Did they maybe even dabble in multiple ones?

How did they actually learn their craft/class? Were they born with it, or did they study under someone? Did they have a natural talent?

The Slayer, Bhaals gift, how did they earn it? Was it before or after becoming his chosen? Did they even recieve it?

Durge didn't grow up in the temple, but Orin did. Did this fact ever have any consequences for either of them? Did it affect their relationship?

Bhaalist's are surprisingly skilled with a wide range of weapons. Which one was your Durges favourite? Did they use it often or did they use something else for their 'regular' schedule?

Their name; did they ever have one? Who chose it for them, or did it maybe change sometime down the line? Did they perhaps even have multiple Alias?

After a successful sacrifice, all cult members are encouraged to take their victim's possessions. What's the one thing Durge claimed like that way that they're most proud of? What did they leave behind on purpose?

Speaking of claiming the possessions of sacrifices, did they ever snatch any real estate in the upper city? Why or why not, and if they did, what did they do with it?

Cazador's little dungeon is located in close proximity to the temple. We're they ever some sort of run ins or disputes between neighbours?

What did Durge think about living in the undercity ruins? Did they miss the surface sometimes, or did they enjoy the unique underdark-esque decor? Did the great chasms ever lead to some sort of 'accident'?

They had an adoptive family once. What did it look like, though? What were their parents like? Did they have siblings? Was it a big, close-knit family or maybe just the mom that stepped up?

Should I actually make this a series? I've still got plenty q's I've used, although some are very specific crafted to my durges so I'd probably need to change em a bit.

Do you have any headcanons for calling Gale good boy?

Anon thank you so much for this request I have SO many.

I feel like Tav wouldn't immediately assume Gale had a praise kink, especially since his romance is such a slow burn, that during act 1 they would just notice that when they praised him it seemed to make him very happy, so they'd start doing it more often.

Like telling him he did a good job cooking, or that he performed well in battle. Little things like that that he wouldn't expect.

The first time Gale would get flustered, unsure how to respond. Blush a bit, but respond with a cocky "I know" or a deflecting "I do what I can." He's used to being praised for his magic, but more mundane things are a bit of a surprise. A welcome one, certainly.

As your relationship grows Tav would start finding excuses to praise him for other things, really picking up on the way he smiles a little extra when receiving praise. Wondering just how much he enjoys it.

One of the first times Gale would go down on Tav, without thinking of it, Tav would say something about how good it felt, how good at using his mouth Gale is. Just as a statement of fact and pleasure rather than deliberate praise, and Gale would moan into Tav's thighs as though he were being touched.

Then it would click, why he blushes and beams when given praise over the smallest things, why it adds a bounce to his step and a gleam to his eye.

Tav would reach for his hair and pull ever so gently, so he would have to make eye contact. They would ask him: "oh, do you like that? Is that what you want to be, my good boy?"

Oh the sound Gale would make then. Half whine, half moan. A small nod, eyes wide.

Needless to say every other word out of Tav's mouth from then on during sex would be lavishing him with praise, telling him what a good job he's doing and what a good boy he's being.

It makes him rut into Tav faster, lick and suck with a frenzy, moan deeper with Tav's hand around his cock.

And if Tav calls him "my good boy?" He would just about die and go to heaven between their legs. That's what he wants: to belong to Tav, wholly, and to have Tav belong to him. To be so good for Tav. So so good. Tav's good boy.

I don’t know what else happened but I’ve watched some of his signing streams on Twitch and there were a few times when he got the most unhinged, degenerate requests. You could see how uncomfortable it made him and he was much more polite about refusing the request than I would have been.

Just because he’s a celebrity doesn’t mean he’s not a real person with boundaries that deserve to be respected.

What about him admitting he straight up enthralled and murdered Duke Stelmane? There is a cutscene that shows him causing her seizure. He literally says “you are my puppet” idk after that I could never side with him

Before you make questions, you should check your facts. So let's do it step-by-step:

"What about him admiting enthralling her?" - The game offers no explanations whatsoever about the circunstances of the enthrallment and the reveal is done when you're telling him he's an untrustworthy fella. If he's not "trustworthy" when he's being nice and cooperative, what makes this a "mask off" moment instead of an "hey since you want me to be a monster, lemme roll an intimidation check, maybe you'll cooperate this time and stop patronizing me about trustworthiness". And even if he's being honest about enthralling her, I really don't care about her, like, at all? She was enthralled way before any of the shit in-game happened, our companions have done worse shit in the past, I will just keep working for the guy and save the world I don't care, I'm not gonna pretend our characters are on some higher moral ground because they are not.

"He murdered Duke Stelmane" - He did not??? She was murdered by the Bhaal Cultists, the game is very explicit about this. The Emperor already did his mischievous actions, you don't have to invent new ones to give to him

"There is a cutscene that shows him causing her seizure" - Yeah, and I'm glad he's learned that enthralling others is just not worth it and is actually trying to forge a real alliance with us, even if it's an alliance by necessity. It's a pretty shitty thing he did but again, I don't care about her as much as people do. He's not doing it to me and he clearly shows he knows it didn't work back then and it's better to forge a real alliance with a free-willing person, and I have no reason to be antagonistic or vindictive towards the one that has been The Shield to The Sword.

You literally wouldn't be there without him actively protecting you (not Orpheus, he is the one protecting you, Orpheus is doing jackshit for us besides being the source of the hivemind disruption power) and he's using you to save himself and save the world in the process... just like you're doing the same with your companions. And I don't mean Tav, I mean you as a player. They are your pawns as well. You can do whatever you want with them. You can be invested in their emotional well-being and want the "good" endings for their quests, or maybe you'd rather have more firepower on your quest to save the world in which case you'd maybe go for the "bad" endings. They are - indeed - paws to achieve the goal you desire the most

People just don't like The Emperor because he acts exactly how the player themselves do. He has a clear goal in mind and wants things to happen the way he wants and is using the NPCs (us) to further this final goal. I will just do what he wants since our goals align, he'll be happy and then he fucks off to continue playing City Skylines: Baldur's Gate Edition with the Knights of the Shield.

Hello there, petal!

I think this ask has been sitting in my inbox for a while, I'm so sorry. I haven't been on top of it lately. (But I'm getting to it, I swear! I know a few people are still asking why I hate Astarions reaction to Tav's romp with Mizora and I'll definitely get to that, do not fret!)

But anyway, let's see how I can help, shall we? I did a bit of research and watched a ton of ascended Astarion content so that I could actually give you proper advice and ohhh boy, when I tell you that I've had clients like him before...blegh. But, as always, do take it with a grain of salt because I'm no expert. Just a social worker with a lot of time to watch vampire videos, apparently, haha.

So, to recap: Your Tav committs suicide in order to escape from ascended Astarions grasp. And I guess he only finds out after, seeing as you need his reaction, yes?

I can see why that would be stressful, but it's probably less because you really don't know how he'd react and more because there's a disconnect between the reaction he'd actually have and the reaction we all want.

As both a writer and a reader I'm not ashamed to admit that I'd want him to suffer. I'd want him to realise all his faults and where he went wrong and I'd want him to cry because he fucked it all up, so much so that he's now lost the one person that loved him despite everything he has done.

But with ascended Astarion, I don't think a reaction like that would be very likely. True vampires are a bit difficult when it comes to things like guilt and shame and loss, as in they don't really seem to take it the way normal people would.

Or, rather: They can't react to them the same way normal people would.

Where a normal person would go through an entire circle of mourning, a true vampire is probably going to throw a tantrum and create a demiplane that he can sulk in. (Looking at you, Strahd.)

Instead of sadness, It's very likely that he'd react with anger. A LOT of anger. The anger likely won't be self-directed - at most a little annoyance because he didn't lock them up harder and more securely - but it will most definitely be directed at Tav.

I don't think I need to explain that while ascended Astarion does not really love Tav anymore he does want them.

Tav is his. Their entire being belongs to just him. Only he get's to decide when and if they're allowed to die. They're his to destroy and his alone. So how dare they kill themself without his permission? How dare they take away what's rightfully his!?

And just as anger replaces sadness, it's very likely that blame overshadows guilt and shame. So he doesn't feel shame over how he treated Tav. He doesn't feel guilt over how he drove them to suicide. No, instead he blames Tav for their decision because they're spoiled and unthankful.

He is not the problem, they are. He gave them everything. Everything one could ever want, they had. He game them power. He gave them wealth. A palace. A life filled with all sorts of pleasure, right by his side. He granted them eternal fucking life. What more could they want? What more could anyone want? He did everything for them, and they threw it right back at him like a spoiled little brat. He should've been sterner, should've kept them on a tighter leash. Should have showed them his bad side so that they'd learn what staying on his good side meant.

The only thing he'd probably actually feel is loss, but once again... it'd be different. It's probably less the gut-wrenching feeling of loneliness that suddenly haunts you when you remember that you won't ever get to speak to someone again because they're no longer here and more the upset of loosing a beloved item. So more of a 'fucking hell that was my favourite fucking thing and now it's gone'. There'd probably be some despair in there because he can't simply replace Tav but that despair is, once again, likely tied to his possessiveness and not to true loss. He'd be desperate because he wants them - he wants them - but not because he's just lost the one he loves.

That's probably the reaction I'd expect of ascended Astarion and, as you can tell: It's not what one would expect of a fanfiction, yes? We'd expect the heartbreak and the sorrow, the guilt and the tears because we love Astarion and Astarion is supposed to love Tav. We want him to love Tav. And those who like him ascended want him to love Tav even as his ascended self.

Now, does that mean the reaction I described wouldn't make a good stroy? Absolutely not! In fact, I do believe it would be a nice switch up in between the very heavily romanticised ascended-fics because it adds that shot of realism. (As much realism as a high-elf-vampire can have, at least.)

So, what I'm trying to say is: Don't worry too much about what is "correct" and what isn't and instead focus on what you want to achieve. If you want to hit your readers with the sad truth of ascended Astarion, maybe go for the approach I described. And if you want to be a bit softer and more romantic, have the boy cry tears of woe.

Or you could go totally crazy and do both things - have someone watch him and describe how they see it - the points I just mentioned - but once you describe what's happening inside him, go full on romance novel and break our hearts!

Find your own path, petal, I'm sure it will be a lovely read either way!
