i should have been here. this is my fault.

The young chimera had been hiding in the ransacked Bar since the raid due to a stray bullet through her leg that left her unable to run. With running not being an option---she hid. She hid and didnt dare move until there was silence and the smell of the soldiers faded.

The first thing she did was start looking for the others....she didnt find anyone that was still alive.

The next several weeks were spent completely alone---trying to repair what she could to maintain some semblance of home. She'd been doing some of that organizing when she heard noise from the entrance to the tunnels...and froze in fear.

Her heart was pounding in her ears, and she had been hiding. Ready to lash out with a chair leg should her hiding place be discovered. That was until she realized who'd come back--coming out and practically tackling the old lizard; though her leg tripped her up. "DAD!!" She hugged him and immediately started to cry.

"i should have been here. this is my fault."

Aya looked up at him with wide eyes, frantically shaking her head. "N-no! No y-you woulda died" She hiccupped through her tears. "It's not your fault--its not "

---- Why were there soldiers in Dublith? City guard and police were to be expected, but not... this many uniforms wandering through. Had something happened? Was the military on the move? The Hammerhead Alchemist had not the slightest of clues. But what she did know was someone with an ear to the ground on everything that happened in this city. A certain unassuming beggar who Mary counted among her friends.

All that was left, then, was to try and find the older gentleman in question!

A few cens, and the most fragrant bowl of beef stew that Mary could buy was in her hands. The city was often bustling, but if she were to spend some time wandering byways and alleys..~

And especially if a white-haired woman were to randomly offer the bowl like a sacrifice to divine patrons, she felt that her friend would eventually show up.

Greed had regained control of his body, but Ling's idea was working. As Bido recalled the day Greed rescued them from the labs, Greed's memories grew stronger. Faces and names he didn't want to remember flashed through his mind and he squeezed his eyes shut in a futile attempt to shut them out.

"No... I don't remember... so shut the hell up!"

The Ultimate Shield covered one hand as Greed readied himself to attack Bido, but when he looked up and saw the chimera on one knee he froze again.

"...Let me go, Piss-ant."

'I'm not doing anything this time,' Ling's voice rang in his head. 'Bido's your friend. You care about him. That's why you don't want to attack him.'

"How many times do I have to tell you he's not my friend!?" Greed hissed.

'You don't mean that. You're only telling yourself that because you don't want to deal with the guilt of letting your other friends die.'

"Tch. It'd be pretty stupid of me to feel guilty for something the other Greed did." Greed pushed himself to his feet and closed the distance between himself and Bido, and for a minute he just stood there, staring down at him, before finally holding a hand out to help him up.

"C'mon, can you walk on your own? We should get you outta this place and patch you up."

Maybe the old Greed's memories were having an effect on him, because for some reason he just couldn't stand to see Bido in such an awful condition, and this time he only had himself to blame.

fmab/manga/chimera verse: Good! Hawke perceives Bido as an ally, which is also his term for friend. Of course Hawke doesn’t really know how to figure out that he’s made a friend but oh well. Out of everyone in the nest, he trusts Bido the most so far tbqh if only cause Bido is one of the ones who found him. He likes talking to him! That and ofc Bido being a Fellow Transgender adds a lot more points in his favor. Hawke is bad at words so he will never be able to properly express it, but Bido helping him with putting on the tank top actually meant a lot to him. It was a lot more comfortable than if Ulchi had done so

In Xigbar’s arms, the little guy weighed about a paper clip’s worth, though the tail makes him slightly more unwieldy than he likely would be without it. However, there’s no way Xigbar’s going to be dropping him from this sort of height, suspended as he is to capture the lizard man from what would have been a death drop for the average being.

Xigbar didn’t have to wonder at all what had initiated that would-be fatal fall in the first place---the shouts increasing in volume from the rooftops overhead were an indicator that somehow, some way, his uncanny acquaintance had pissed off the wrong people. The racket is what had captured his attention in the first place, and the serendipitous rescue had been at the very last moment.

Good thing he could teleport and stand mid-air like this.

“Lemme guess: you got yourself into some trouble and I gotta save your hide?”

“A holiday...”

He’d heard of a couple winter holidays. The solstice was a big one, he knew; Ulchi had recounted many sordid tales of celebrations in his rural hometown during the lab years, though Bido was pretty sure he’d made most of them up. But the solstice had already happened a couple days ago. He wondered what this holiday was for.

He blinked in pleasant surprise as Dolcetto revealed the bottle; that was an even better present than the quilt. Had everyone else gotten something like this?

“Well-- hang on, you should have a glass too! You came all this way, it’s only right!”

His voice came out a little desperate, maybe, but... Dolcetto’s company was the first he’d had up in the attic for a while. He didn’t want him to leave just yet!

Dolcetto stalled, surprised by the offer to stay. He hadn't planned on staying for a drink, just to drop off Bido's gift and leave, probably to go smoke. If Bido really wanted him there then Dolcetto would definitely stay. What was better then spending the holidays with friends?

"Y'sure? I mean--'m not gonna pass up an offer for booze."

He reached into his Keikogis pocket, quickly fishing out a small compact knife. Dol flipped it open, jabbing the tip into the cork and turning it gently. The cork came out with a pop, quickly dropping off the blade's tip and onto the floor. Whatever, he'd pick it up in a second.

"Usually we drank this stuff in glasses, but it shouldn't be bad straight. If y'don't mind passin' it back an' forth."

He offered the bottle to Bido, making sure his friend had the first drink.

It shouldn't get them too drunk...but they both were relatively small. Oh well, he probably didn't have to work the bar until the evening. A hangover was a problem for future Dolcetto.
