Louis Tomlinson's Faith In The Future, his first album with BMG, has soared to Number One in the UK, his best solo chart performance yet.
In the UK, the album, Tomlinson's second solo release, sold more than twice as much as its predeccor Walls. Additionally, internationally, the album debuts at number two in Germany and Australia.
Jamie Nelson, BMG Vice President A&R UK, said: "We are all so delighted with the extraordinary results coming through for us around the world for Louis on Faith In The Future. His vision for his music has been front and centre, and we have been very focused on backing that vision. This has been a BMG team effort and when I spoke with Louis this morning, he was keen to highlight the difference he is feeling on this release, and his respect for the passion and care the BMG teams have put into this campaign."
Lisa Wilkinson, Director Marketing UK at BMG, said: "The entire UK team are absolutely thrilled with the result on Faith In The Future. We spent the last year really getting to understand Louis, his brand and most importantly his fans so we could deliver the most successful campaign he’s ever had. Suffice to say we’ve exceeded all expectations and I’m so proud of the team and how we’ve collaborated together not just domestically but with our global colleagues."
Faith In The Future has been a passion project for the singer who reveled in taking his time to get his sophomore album just right. The album is a collection of songs designed for the live environment. The first single to be released was the crowd-pleasing ‘Bigger Than Me’, quickly followed up with 'Out Of My System', and the third and final single ahead of the album release, 'Silver Tongues'. Speaking on the release of the latest pop-punk single, Tomlinson said it is “the song I'm most proud of on the record."
In 2020, Tomlinson released his million-selling smash debut solo album Walls which hit the Top Three in the UK and Top 10 in the USA. A lyrically personal album that proved he had found his feet as a solo artist, the album produced a clutch of acclaimed singles including the emotive first release ‘Two of Us’, the raucous ‘Kill My Mind’, and the reflective ‘We Made It’.

Hey Gina. Who are Louis record label? I’m a bit confused by the whole BMG thing. I thought they were his label but is that not the case?
And how does the whole manager thing work? His manager is Matt V but does Louis appoint him or does he have an agent that sorts out managers for him?
As far as I can tell, he doesn’t have a label. BMG is there to take care of aspects like distribution, creative services, accounting, licensing, data analytics etc etc. BMG l seems to be set up in a way that an artist can use whatever aspects of their services they want. So, I don’t know which aspects Louis uses, but it’s not like a traditional label where they make all the decisions.
As far as his manager/team goes, he hires them. They work for him.

Submission from a mutual:
Louis is a strange combination of perfectionist and wanting to be in total control of certain aspects of his career— both lackadaisical and stubbornly refusing to do what would help him about other things. Personally, I’m put off seeing Louis drinking four days in a row at Glastonbury, when his fandom is screaming for new music and his festival is coming with the same damn setlist. I’m glad he’s bonding with his bandmates, but Louis with his management team and band drinking at a private club the night before a concert is getting 😐 for me. There’s an immaturity, an “I don’t want to grow up” feeling now. Combine that with his frustration with the industry and not wanting to participate in the bs but unfortunately necessary “reindeer games”— it ends up making fans feel somewhat pressured to maintain his buzz and career when Louis and his managers and BMG should be doing that, not us.
Louis is a good guy who obviously sincerely appreciates his fans. However, his reluctance to do certain things ends up burdening (in a way) his most loyal fans. The inertia is maddening… and he almost seems too comfortable with the status quo. I wish Louis wanted and expected Calvin Harris, Theo Hurts (both of whom share managers with him - can’t Matt and Mark Gillespie get any star power to his shows?) — even Sam Fender to come to his show instead of accepting the state of play, with Louis constantly praising and supporting all them as artists?
The Snuts band member just echoed what everyone says about Louis - he’s a really good guy who drinks and smokes - and Louis doesn’t seem to expect or want more. Matt Vines doesn’t try to suggest talking points; everyone just nods along, “Louis sits at home drinking and smoking.” Everyone seems to be frozen with this static, Everyman image: nice guy, normal person, blah blah blah.
Change has to come from Louis, and I don’t see indications that it’s happening.
No fan can dictate what Louis wants or what he does, but we can’t be in the position of wanting his career to succeed more than he does.
Latam fans gave Louis everything and more, but their patience wore thin waiting for the acknowledgement to come from IGTVs. Seven minutes for the last 14 shows, that sold more than 30% of the LTWT tickets. No official acknowledgement for Asia, no merch, not even a tweet. As time passed on tour, Louis and his team seemed to resort to his status quo… which is to do nothing. As much as I believe his career has had a lot of external, industry constraints, I think Louis is responsible for some of the inertia and status quo.
It’s Louis’ career and his decisions - but it’s been years of his very patient, loyal fandom waiting for something better. Yet here we are, still asking the same questions, still in the dark. It’s too late in the game.

“they don’t promote at same time” and yet bmg said harry stole the rolling stone cover they were getting for louis LOL wake up they do promo all at same time
I'm awake, don't worry anon.
To clarify i meant label/pr driven album promo. That is costly and a huge investment which includes a whole intricate pr campaign with print, tv, radio interviews, signings, popup shops, and pr relationships etc.
Pretty sure no stealing of any sort was happening here. Harry and Louis have been together for 13 years now and i'm positive they talk to each other about their PR plans lol. I also believe all the 1D guys only wishes the best for each other and wants everyone to succeed. They don't sabotage each other.
Last "big" thing Harry promoted was DWD which came out in Sept 22. Louis album came out in November 22. Louis PR run for that album started in sept with btm, but then died down and only picked up again like 10 days before the album drop, and the singles came in such a quick sucession that the whole thing was over in December.
Will they have some promo overlap, sure! Harry is everywhere all the time now. He's a walking billboard. And he's overexposed rn in my opinion. But it's not like Harry, Louis or Niall dropped an album in the same month, which would be stupid knowing they have an overlapping fanbase.
In stead of worrying about 1D competition, if i were BMG, i would be alot more worried about keeping current fans than gaining knew ones. We all see the elephant in the room. Louis is trying to be everything to everyone all at once and that's turning people off, because it's not genuine. The way they promise things and not follow through, and the lack of transparent communication to us fans, fans who Louis says are special, is frankly hurting him in such a way that i think he needs to fire some people to keep the fans.
If i may suggest, start with firing Simon Jones and get someone who knows the fandom onboard his management team. Lisa from BMG sure does not. I'm also questioning if Louis does, or if he doesn’t care anymore. And i don't know which is sadder. All i see is someone who’s losing touch with his own fanbase.

ok FITH gets #5 in the US , #2 in AU and #1 in the UK. The 3 biggest markets with so little promo, no real radio play, no daily pap walks, no elaborate fan engagement project, leaks everywhere and yet he is doing SO WELL. Imagine an actual marketing campaign, a good PR team and an investment in playlist. He should have faith in his future!
louis on his way to take over the industry when he can finally get his music to reach the gp

That’s really what we’d hoped for. It’s great to hear.
