Summary:   Eddie gives Stan a sort of calm in the way he speaks. It’s different to anyone else's. It’s not the blanket of Mike’s cooking, the sort of sleepiness that gives way when Bill talks about his stories, not the way Beverly makes him feel like he’s in a sort of daydream, it’s not the all-knowing and tongue loosening days he spends with Ben, and it is definitely not the sort of sparking calm in a routine biting back and forth he feels with Richie. It is something all of its own. It’s something that makes him feel like he’s back in elementary school, tossing a ball back and forth with the Loser’s Club, trying to memorize vocabulary words consisting of cool, grin, heat, shoelaces, pillowcase, trying to practice for their spelling test. It makes him feel like a kid again, unable to contain the grin that manages to split its way through his cheeks, makes him feel like he’s got Georgie in one hand, listening him go on and on about how excited he is to get cotton candy, on their way to the carnival—it gives him a sort of sugary sweet glimpse back into his childhood, and he’s not sure when he decided that Eddie was his best friend—but it was recent and it was strong.
