I really hope mcr5 gets released with no previous warning just like foundations. Imagine how fucking funny it would be to wake up and look at your phone to see the album you've waited 10 fucking years for just randomly dropped

October 31st 2019 - The Reunion
(Written November 5th) October 31st 2019, at around 11 PM (PT)/2 PM (ET), My Chemical Romance’s twitter and facebook profile changed profile pictures, and activity also began on a brand new instagram account (@mychemicalromance). The picture resembled a lit candle with a strange, unidentifiable symbol on it. The picture was also posted onto this instagram account’s story, with the words “ex.1: Clarity” on it.
Tumblr media
The instagram account updated the story every 10 minutes or so with a new image and a new message:
Tumblr media
What looks like a hand inside some sort of droplet, along with the text “ex. 2: Courage”,
Tumblr media
A handprint with a strange symbol (possibly another hand or maybe a tree?) and the text “ex. 3: Sacrifice”
And lastly:
Tumblr media
What seems to be a minimalistic hand inside a sun, along with the text “ex. 4: Devotion”.
At this moment, we don’t know what these words or images mean, although some have theorized it represents either the four band member (Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro), or their four previous albums.
In between all of this, new merch was released on mcr.warnerartists.net, including a shirt that says “mcr” in a new font (resembling calligraphy from the middle ages), along with the clarity symbol, and a black hoodie which said “RETURN” in the red revenge font (also known as Trajan Pro).
Tumblr media
This was before anything was confirmed, and appears to have been a mistake, as it was quickly removed from the website. These shirts are now up though, and are currently sold out., as of writing this.
Amazon music also seem to have hit the gas too early at this moment, as this facebook post was posted during the instagram account’s cryptic storyposting.
Tumblr media
It reads as following:
“WE ARE NOT OKAY (WE PROMISE)... My Chemical Romance is officially back together, and we cannot wait to see what the band has in store!”
This post was also deleted after a while.
Many fans were still in denial of a reunion, myself included, as I thought it was a PR stunt from Warner Bros (MCR’s current label), to sell merch or reissue an album, like they did in 2016 with The Black Parade’s 10th anniversary album, Living With Ghosts. But I knew deep inside that this was all too elaborate to be a marketing technique. It was confirmed though, when My Chem’s various social media platforms posted the same picture (two statues of angels) along with the text: “RETURN. Friday December 20th, 2019. Shrine Expo Hall. Los Angeles, CA.” along with the caption “Like Phantoms Forever... Tickets on sale Fridat 11/1/19 at 12 PM Pacific”, along with a link to the ticket site AXS.
Tumblr media
This confirmed the theories of a show, but people still weren’t sure if it would be a one-time only show, or a reunion show to announce their comeback. Eventually, one after one of the former MCR members posted the same picture, only with the caption “California 2019″.

And Thus It All Began...
- The Quiet Before The Storm -
At the same time this was going down, a topic secret event was taking at a Hot Topic in LA (I believe it was the one in Hollywood). Nick Martin from Sleeping With Sirens tweeted at 11:47 AM (PT) “Yo. I’m at a top secret event right now. And I Think I know what it’s for.”
Tumblr media
At 12 PM (PT) he tweetes a picture from inside the Hot Topic which displayed black banners with “MCR Return” written on them, along with the caption “It’s happening.”
Tumblr media
Three minutes later he tweeted a picture of a black, fancy ticket that said “RETURN. Come on, come all to this joyous affair.” (Referencing the song “The End.” by My Chemical Romance), along with event details. His tweet reads: “MCR playing The Shrine on December 20th!”
