Beach House (Final Rose)

The lawnmower’s startup sequence engaged shortly after midnight. His processors cycled through several streams of incoming data effortlessly to narrow down the reason for his awakening.

His creator had posted drones around the perimeter of the beach house they were renting for their holiday. Those same drones had detected movement outside of the established norms. He took a handful of cycles to peruse the data and request further information.

The drones possessed more advanced sensors, but activating those might alert any intruders to their discovery. Instead, he relied on their passive sensor sweeps. The intruders were using advanced stealth technology, which had all but hidden their presence.

What they hadn’t accounted for was some of the local wildlife detecting them and responding accordingly. It was that wildlife that the drones had detected. The lawnmower issued and order, a passive sonar sweep at frequencies inaudible to both humans and Faunus.

The sonar sweep came back positive. Multiple intruders detected in an attack pattern designed to breach the beach house. A passive thermal scan revealed nothing. The lawnmower gave the mental equivalent of a frown. Thermal camouflage combined with visual camouflage. An Aura sweep would definitely be detected, so he withheld that order.

Instead, he alerted his creator and Thomas, the robotic polar bear that the kids had built.

His creator was at his side in moments. Her fox ears twitched as she kept her Aura calm and steady.

“I don’t know who leaked the location of our holiday, but we can worry about that after we deal with these guys.”

His creator’s wife joined them.

“I’ll go outside with Thomas and the lawnmower. Can you start trapping the inside. If they get past us...”

“I’ll be ready for them. They won’t get the kids.” His creator’s expression was devoid of its usual cheer. “I’ll give control over the rest of the drones to the lawnmower. Have Thomas go out first. He’ll draw their attention. If they’re smart enough to get this close, they’ll have a plan for you. Be careful. Once I’ve got this place trapped and shielded, I’ll lend support.”

“All right.”

His creator’s wife patted his chassis. “You’re with me.”

“Hey.” His creator gave him a sharp look. “Weapons free. No prisoners. Total war.”

The lawnmower processed the words. They were a very specific sequence, one that authorised him to do whatever he deemed necessary to safeguard his creator and her family. His weaponry was usually heavily limited to minimise property damage and permanent injury. Not anymore.

The lawnmower cut communications with Thomas. The robotic polar bear had already been briefed on the plan. Even his creator’s stealth protocols wouldn’t be able to completely conceal him.

It was a pity too that most of the drones he had access to on this trip were not suited for heavy combat. They had stunners and shields, but little in the way of heavy firepower. Oh well. He’d make do. Organics could be surprising fragile. The prongs on a stunner might not sharp enough to kill, but they could easily blind, and electric shocks at opportune moments could easily lead to openings he could exploit.

Not far off, Thomas lay in wait. With his heavily reinforced chassis and exterior built of energy- and force-absorbing materials, the robotic polar bear was ideally suited to draw enemy fire. Still, the lawnmower felt a stir of unease. His friend was sturdy, but their enemy would not have come here without proper preparations.

As his processor counted down the seconds until the operation commenced, he ran another passive sonar sweep. He fed the data to Thomas and overlaid it with his visual feed. Yes. If he looked closely enough, there were minute distortions in the air that matched the general locations of the objects the sonar sweep had picked up.

Two.

One.

Thomas roared, a handful of powerful speakers built into his frame unleashing a torrent of hideously loud noise pitched at frequencies designed to deafen or disable Faunus and humans alike. At the same time, the drones floating in the air unleashed powerful sensor sweeps designed to overwhelm their opponents’ camouflage. When that failed to reveal them, the drones fired their stunners. Powerful currents of electricity surged down the cables attached to the stunners, revealing their foes.

Several dozen White Fang elites.

Thomas charged forward and was greeted with a hell storm of fire. Heavy calibre slugs designed to tear through armoured Grimm and punch through reinforced concrete slammed into him. His inbuilt shields flared to fend off the assault only to fail a moment later beneath the sheer volume of fire. He staggered momentarily and then pressed on as the storm of gunfire ripped holes in his exterior and clanked off the reinforced interior casing that protected his most important components.

He closed in on his first opponent and swiped with one claw. With strength at least an order of magnitude greater than any bear, his blow smashed right through the Aura of his first opponent and ripped them in half. Panels along his side opened up and unleashed a salvo of buckshot into the White Fang around him. To his disappointment only two thirds of the weapons were able to successfully fire. He had already taken considerable damage.

Yet he was not concerned. Alone, he would have been picked off. His opponents outnumbered him, and his scanners indicated significant amounts of Aura in all of them. However, he was not alone.

The lawnmower catalogued the damage Thomas had already sustained with a mental frown. His friend had already taken serious damage despite his durability. Their opponents had come equipped for a war. Well, he would give them one.

He trundled up to the closest White Fang member and activated his primary close-combat weapon.

The shotgun was a much-loved close quarters weapon. He was equipped with twin automatic shotguns, each with a maximum firing rate of 300 rounds per minute. Rather than standard shells, he used tungsten tipped, fire-Dust composite shells. The tungsten would allow the heavy shell to punch through most body armour. However, upon impact, the fire-Dust that made up the bulk of the round would then be crushed against the tungsten tip resulting in immediate sublimation.

This in turn guaranteed a complete transfer of momentum from the shot to the target along with the creation of a literal cloud of molten material inside the target. In organics, this typically resulted in a successful centre mass hit simply evaporating the torso.

His opponent had impressive Aura reserves, several hundred times that of a civilian. In the span of three seconds, the lawnmower hit him a total of thirty of the tungsten, fire-Dust shells. His Aura withstood the dirty twenty-seven of the impacts before cracking. The three subsequent hits erased his torso and sent his limbs tumbling away.

Yet even before those limbs hit the ground, the lawnmower was already deploying more of his weapon systems. Nets flashed out. Aura could protect from explosions and gunshots, but nets could still be effective. However, instead of the usual shock the nets were designed to deliver, he upped the voltage by a factor of a hundred. That should be enough to incapacitate those he’d managed to hit. Once that occurred, it was easy to pour shotgun slugs into them until they ceased to be relevant.

In front of him, Thomas continued his assault, lashing out with mad abandon as missile pods in his back opened to fire their lethal cargo: clusters of mini-missiles designed to first overwhelm an opponent’s Aura before creating clouds of shrapnel that would shred flesh and pierce through body armour.

One of the White Fang managed to draw a bead on him, and the lawnmower braced for impact. A rocket-propelled grenade exploded against his side followed by several punishing impacts from anti-materiel weaponry. His shields, more substantial than Thomas’s, were able to bear the brunt of the impact whilst his smaller size allowed for more concentrated armour. Even so, a number of warning came up, and he devoted some of his systems to repair while ejecting one of his batteries.

The battery had overloaded due to the damage done to his shields. Tossing the useless battery aside, he had one of the drones rush to deliver him another as he diverted any additional power he had to his shields.

Someone leapt at him with a spear held high, and he took a trio of cycles to aim before shooting an electrified harpoon. His creator had originally intended it to be used to catch and stop vehicles, but it worked well enough to knock his opponent back. The angry flare of Aura informed him that his opponent was still combat capable, and he turned his twin automatic shotguns toward the White Fang member.

The night was lit up with the roar of his firepower, and his opponent staggered back under the barrage. They dodged in a desperate attempt to get clear, and he activated his tractor beam. He usually used it to manipulate tools or move bunches of leaves around. It wasn’t designed to stop someone with the Aura signature of an A Tier hunter, but it didn’t have to. It managed to trip them over, and his twin shotgun were able to lock on. His opponent did not survive the ensuing barrage.

The lawnmower directed some of the drones to ram themselves into the weaker members of the assault. He detonated the drones in the faces of the White Fang members. Most survived, but they were still blinded. In their moments of weakness, the lawnmower calmly fired a salvo of his own mini-missiles. Unable to dodge, many of them were killed outright in the ensuing explosions. Others staggered into the traps his creator had prepared earlier. Claymores might be relatively primitive, but they were incredibly effective against opponents without enough Aura to protect them. He had the drones handle the rest. Picking up a heavy rock and bashing someone over the head was hardly an efficient way of doing things, but the drones could do it well enough to opponents who were barely mobile and lacking in Aura.

Every now and then, his and Thomas’s attacks were joined by flashes of Aura as his creator’s wife discretely eliminated unsuspecting members of the White Fang with her Aura constructs. Good. She was keeping herself largely concealed. In the chaos it was doubtful that anyone would notice her attacks, so she should still be able to catch the most powerful members of the White Fang attack team off guard.

Thomas noted the damage he’d sustained. Two of his limbs were barely operational, and he was relying more on his inertial manipulators to move. However, he was still a large, heavy machine, which meant simply ramming his opponents was a completely viable option.

Most of them were already running low on Aura as his barrage of mini-missiles had been able to catch the majority. Furthermore, the lawnmower was laying down a hellish storm of fire with his shotguns. Hitting a target at long-range with the shotguns would have been difficult even for the lawnmower’s advanced fire control systems, but this was a phone booth fight with the majority of their opponents no further than fifteen feet away. The chaos also made it easy for their creator’s wife to strike without giving herself a way. A razor-thin Aura construct to the heart would be impossible for most organics to notice in the midst of the battle. Likewise, a noose tightening to slice a throat open would be easy to miss with explosions, gunfire, and lasers everywhere.

As a sword stabbed into his side and glanced off the reinforced armour around his power source, Thomas twisted and bashed his barely working front right limb into his attacker’s skull. His attacker flopped to the ground, and he took a split-second to gauge the distance before dropping several canisters of gas onto the ground.

With their full Auras, his opponents would simply have been able to ignore them. Running low, however, the poison gas stood a decent chance of working. Of course, he and the lawnmower would be fine. There was a flash of light. Good. The lawnmower was using his lasers. Lasers weren’t all that useful against a skilled and powerful opponent with their full Aura, but against someone without Aura, they could easily disable or kill.

Thomas lumbered forward, swatting aside on White Fang after another as they tried to shake off the effects of the gas. A few tried to get around him and the lawnmower only to come apart in clouds of gore as the lawnmower triggered the mines his creator had laid earlier in the day.

As another White Fang faltered, only to be crushed beneath his bulk, Thomas considered the battle. They were doing well -

BOOM.

The lawnmower used his tractor beam to slow Thomas’s flight to a manageable level. The robotic polar bear slammed into a tree. One of his limbs broke off, and his chassis gave an ominous creak. Almost all of the White Fang were down, but the two that were left had made short work of the rest of the drones and had devastated the impromptu defences his creator had set up.

The lawnmower braced himself for battle. Both of the targets were at least S Tier with Aura signatures measured in tens of thousands the capacity of normal civilians. Simply put, he was not equipped for battle of this level. Nevertheless, he would continue to do his best.

He unleashed his shotguns again, only to have them dodged. Scowling, he switched to lasers. They were far faster but less able to do damage. The attacks were ignored, and he found himself crushed into the ground as his shields flared to halt an attack that would have turned a typical truck into a tin can. The pressure on his shields increased, and the ground gave way beneath him. This was enough force to reduce a house to kindling, and it was only increasing.

The other high-level White Fang headed for the house. The lawnmower bit back a curse. He was currently unable to intervene. Thomas shambled back onto his feet and fired a salvo of bullets that were dodged with contemptuous ease.

The lawnmower gave the mental equivalent of a sneer.

The would-be assassins were getting overconfident.

There was a reason his creator’s wife had yet to intervene.

Lumina had to fight the urge to wade into battle as the beach house’s defences were destroyed and both Thomas and the lawnmower found themselves on the receiving end of beat downs. Thomas was barely functional, and the lawnmower was only still in one piece thanks to the absurdly strong shields Vanille had given him.

But there was a reason for this.

In battle between S Tier individuals and higher, the first blow could often be the decisive one since people with that kind of power could generally warp combat in their favour so heavily that regaining the initiative became impossible.

As one of the assassins ran toward the house, Lumina readied her attack. It was a monomolecular ribbon of Aura reinforced with a full twenty percent of her total Aura reserves. Her target continued to rush forward, and Lumina struck. In a split-second, the ribbon wrapped around the White Fang member.

There was a brilliant flash as her opponent’s Aura flared to try to protect them, but Lumina gestured sharply. The ribbon tightened. Had the ribbon been wider, the Aura in it would not have been as densely concentrated. Her opponent, who was certainly skilled and powerful, had already instinctive deployed a dense, full-body protective shell of Aura.

It was actually more Aura than Lumina had put into the ribbon, which meant her opponent had some very impressive Aura reserves in their own right. But Lumina’s Aura was concentrated over a far smaller area. The result? Her Aura ribbon sliced through her opponent’s protective shell in a quarter of a second before tightening around them.

Lumina didn’t hesitate. She let the ribbon tighten completely, and her opponent fell to the ground in pieces.

With her opponent dead, Lumina turned her attention back to the lawnmower. His shields had finally given way, and his battered form flew threw the air. She used a sliver of her Aura to form a net to catch him. Despite the damage he’d taken, he continued to shell away with his shotguns and lasers. He even fired a few nets.

Her last opponent dodged all of the projectiles with ease. They were good. Very good. Just then, her communicator blinked. It was a signal from Vanille. Lumina took a step forward and gestured. Swords and spears of Aura rained down on her opponent.

Stifling pressure formed and then erupted outward - some form of air or gravity manipulation - and she leapt back to avoid the worst of the blast. Instinctively, she formed a sphere around herself, and just in time as her enemy launched a barrage of projectiles at her at super sonic speeds.

Lumina replied in kind only for her projectiles to be batted aside. Interesting. Why had her opponent dodged the lawnmower’s attacks? Was it to conserve power for fighting against her?

Lumina shook her head. She could worry about that later. Right now, she needed to keep her opponent occupied. She unleashed another barrage and then created a monomolecular net. Her opponent must have seen what had happened earlier, and they threw themselves clear.

Which was exactly what Vanille was waiting for.

Vanille took a split-second to check her aim. Having a binding rod that could transform into a rail gun was great.

Lumina bit back a smirk as her opponent’s Aura flared. A projectile slammed into her at roughly thirty times the speed of sound. The impact sent out a shockwave that would have knocked any normal person over, and the explosion that followed courtesy of the projectile’s exotic payload lit up the whole night.

Extending her senses, Lumina was only faintly surprised that her opponent was still alive. However, their Aura reserves were far lower than they had been. As her enemy struggled to get their bearings back, Lumina rained more Aura constructs down on her. They fought to fend off the assault, but Lumina wasn’t done. A tiny, incredibly thin snare formed and tangled around her opponent’s right ankle. She tightened it, and her opponent’s foot came off. They screamed, and their focuse wavered. A split-second later they went down, impaled by dozens of Aura constructed. Lumina beheaded them just to be sure.

“Any other threats?” she asked the lawnmower.

The lawnmower scanned the area. There was no point hiding anymore. His powerful active scanners swept over the surrounding terrain. There were no more remaining targets. However, just to be sure, he dispatched the few remaining drones into a defensive formation and had them run their own scans.

That done, he trundled toward Thomas. The polar bear was badly damaged, to the point that he could no longer move under his own power. The lawnmower stopped at his side and began repairs. They would have to acquire new components to get him fully operational again, but he should be able to fix Thomas up enough for the robotic polar bear to control his own movement again. Thankfully, his most important components had survived serious damage.

Author’s Notes

One of the best shots the White Fang had at Vanille. The attack team consisted of two S Tier or higher hunters, several A Tier or higher and everyone else was B Tier. However, Thomas is exceptionally tough, and the lawnmower was designed with anti-hunter combat in mind. The attack team was also put together with Lumina and Vanille in mind. They were not prepared for Thomas, the lawnmower, and a garden that had been trapped. Even without Thomas and the lawnmower, Lumina and Vanille could have won, but it would have been a tricky fight.

Field Guide: Golems

Description: "Creatures” born of rock and Aether, standing several full fulms above even the mightiest of Roegadyn, glowing with an inner light reminiscent of a warm hearth only glimpsed from outside a cold, unforgiving stone edifice. Golems are typically top-heavy creatures, their Aether-born status allow them a moderately nonsensical structure, a good portion of their bulk being placed in the upper torso and arms, more appropriate for disposable, supposedly short-lived early Warmachina.

Save for this author’s drawing, other forms of Golems are known to exist. Some that take on a more, for want of a better term, natural formation, are commonly known as Marolith, and are seen as creations not of Man or Beastman, but of highly-aspected earth aether, waxing astral. Dullahan, great suits of metal armour (be they headless or no) are also considered a form of Golem, and both deserve their own entries, as the Codex Raimdelle provides them. Truly, almost any creature crafted from stone or metal, or even ice, and infused with a facsimile of life can be considered a Golem.

Locale: Somewhat oddly common, Golems can be found typically amidst ruined structures from ages past, where they were employed as disposable guardians. My personal studies on these creatures are focused around Qarn, an ancient temple in Thanalan, constructed by the Belah’dians, though there records of them across the entire star, and are frequently employed in devastating new forms by predominantly Kobolds, but also other Spoken who are still knowledgeable in their summoning.

Temprament: Though as unpredictable as their creators, Golems typically serve as brutish, single-minded grunts or guardians of ancient ruins, and are thus typically best avoided due to them erring on the side of hostility towards either those they have been ordered to target, or those who encroach on territory they have been ordered to protect.

Notes: The foci of Golems are objects called “Soulstones” (not to be confused with Soul Crystals), crystals ranging in size, up to that of a small Lalafell. Soulstones themselves are formed of enchantments, woven into rare Ores (typically, the rarer the ore, the more powerful the Golem), arguably making Golems closer in relativity to Carbuncles, due to both being a “shell” created around an enchanted stone. These enchantments can be dispelled with relative swiftness via an application of amber, which will draw said enchantment away.

Golems, as creatures of rock, are also severely weak to dissolvants, the acidic chemicals causing their stony exteriors to melt away, though the results of applying acid to Golems not comprised of stone is somewhat more questionable.

Some theorize that rogue Golems are cannibalistic in nature. Drawn to the corpses of their kind to salvage for rocks of higher mineral or metallic content, presumably with the intent to further increase their size, it is likely that the rocks with higher mineral or metallic content conduct their aetheric cores with greater efficiency, allowing them to ultimately add more to their form, and become better at their duties, in their simple, proverbial minds.

Final arguments: Throughout this subjectively brief summary, I have alluded to the idea that Golems are Soulkin. They are, after all, given a form of intelligence through magic, and are powered by a Soulstone. However, this is a hotly debated topic within the Naturalist communities, as the very classification of Soulkin seems to be mired in outdated folklore, and superstition prevalent when Raimdelle was originally penning his codex. Therefore, this author would like to provide two alternatives.

One, that, as alluded to earlier, Golems are Transcendent in nature, due to their similarity to Carbuncles. Both are being made of Aether, given a semblance of life thanks to an outside force providing a greater concentration of Aether, and are focused around a variety of Aether-conducting stone.

Alternatively, and, a conclusion I will personally be researching further, is that Golems are Voidsent. And here, I must present a handful of facts not yet stated. Firstly, though this may be part of the superstitious folklore that Soulkin are mired in, Golems can only be formed when the “laws of nature” are weakened by the “chaotic influence of an Umbral Calamity,” akin to how Voidsent are more easily summoned when an Umbral Calamity causes the barrier between the Void and our plane to weaken.

The Voidsent summoning theory can also be reinforced by the idea that said Voidsent would be possessing an enchanted vessel, a feat not uncommonly used to trap Voidsent, with more powerful enchantments and rarer stones weaving a more robust prison for Voidsent creatures trapped in Golems, and that it is not unknown for Voidsent to posses inanimate objects, akin to the Voidsent oddly named “Page 64.”

Lastly on the Voidsent theory, though this is more situational evidence one can use to draw conclusions, and is, once again, mired in the story-based recordings of information on Soulkin, legend states that the Twelve Archons commanded such warriors of stone during the Sixth Umbral Era. While this by its self is not odd, I would draw your attention to one in particular, Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepfsyn, founder of the Dravanian Sharlayan, builder of the Great Gubal library and, thanks to explorers, we know employed (perhaps not directly, but his subordinates definitely produced) creatures known as Bibliotaphs. Creatures of Stone, made to guard lost knowledge, and powered by Voidsent bound within, whom had been entreated to serve as guardians as payment for their summoning. A familiar enough concept.

Regardless of this, Golems are a fascinating subject, as they are a broad topic, containing a number of sub-species, and are mired in an issue based on a strange classification, which its self appears to be a remnant of a bygone era, but one we still look upon today, due to reasons beyond this author’s understanding.

Warlord - class Titan

The Warlord-class Titan is a large and powerful type of Battle Titan, armed with much more firepower than its counterpart, the smaller Reaver-class Titan. The Warlord appears to be the most common class of Battle Titan in use by the Titan Legions of the Imperium of Man, and many Adeptus Mechanicus Forge Worlds field their own patterns of this class. Due to their immense size, Warlord Titans are not nearly as fast or agile as the Reaver-class Titans or the Warhound Scout Titans, but they more than make up for this failing with their sheer firepower and heavily armoured bulks.

History

A true leviathan of the battlefield, the Warlord-class Titan was the mainstay of the Legio Titanica during the Great Crusade era. There were a number of sub-patterns of the Warlord, such as the Lucius and Anvilus, but it was the Mars pattern that was considered the most ancient and superior, and of all of the Battle Titan types by far the most numerous and iconic. This is not without reason, for each Mars Warlord is a gargantuan killing machine, proof against the petty assaults of small arms and all but impervious even to the assault of most forms of attack aircraft and heavy weapon, save the most technologically potent or massive. Furthermore, the Warlord is a fully reliable and protected environment, and as able to fight upon an airless moon as a verdant plain so long as the geology under its feet will sustain it, and even this is assisted by gravitational and inertial techno-arcana, little understood outside the inner circles of the Titan Tech-Priests who sustain these god-engines. But it is the destructive power of the Warlord that is its avatar, for their firepower rivals smaller void warships in potency and a single Warlord, given time, is capable of systematically leveling a city or laying waste to an entire army. Such was their might that it was whispered by some that it was they, not the Legiones Astartes, that had truly won the Imperium's domain in the fires of battle.

Design

The Warlord Titan's colossal size, incalculable power and superior design make it both extremely difficult to harm from ground level, with its vital systems elevated far above the heads and hulls of those upon the battlefield below it, while its legs are plated with meters-thick armour to prevent it from being assailed by infantry or laid low by explosive charges.

The Warlord is much larger than the aging Reaver-class Titan, putting its height at around 22.5 meters (approximately just over 73 feet). The Warlord Titan is also able to withstand a great deal more damage than the Reaver. However, there is considerable conflict in the Imperial records concerning this matter. A Warlord Titan is approximately only 33 meters (100 feet) tall according to some scale diagrams. Other accounts have stated it to be as large as 200 meters (656 feet)! Depictions of the Warlord in Imperial artwork are even less consistent, sometimes showing it to be hundreds of meters tall.

Notable Variants

Mars-Alpha Pattern Warlord Titan- The colossal Mars-Alpha Pattern Warlord Titan is among the most ancient and feared of the Imperium's war machines. Forged on the Red Planet itself, it is worshiped and venerated as the Omnissiah's will incarnate, and each god-engine is encased in layered armour and powerful void shielding, and armed with weapons that are capable of reducing armies to ash. In addition to its Ardex-Defensor Mauler Bolt Cannon and Lascannon turrets, support weapons that would be considered main armaments on smaller war machines, the Warlord is commonly fitted with a pair of carapace-mounted triple-barrelled Laser Blasters and two Belicosa pattern Volcano Cannon.

Eclipse Pattern Warlord Titan - The Eclipse-class Titan is a lighter version of the more common Death Bringer-class variant. An Eclipse-variant Warlord Battle Titan is deployed if more staying power is needed than the usual Reaver-class Titan can provide, but a Death Bringer is not available or needed. An Eclipse Warlord is typically armed with Volcano Cannons, Gatling Blasters and Apocalypse Missile Launchers.

Death Bringer Pattern Warlord Titan - The Death Bringer-class Titan is the most common Warlord Battle Titan configuration and is equipped with a variety of weapons that can be used for a multitude of battlefield roles.

Nightgaunt Pattern Warlord Titan - The Nightgaunt-class Titan is a variant of the standard Warlord pattern, and is always equipped with one or two Titan close combat weapons or lighter, short-ranged Titan firepower.

Nemesis Pattern Warlord Titan - The Nemesis-class Titan is fielded when brute force is required. These God-engines excel in long-range firepower and siege warfare, but possess poor maneuverability. Usually forgoing close-ranged weaponry, Nemesis-class Titans will still field Titan close combat weapons to discourage deep strike operations by enemy forces. Nemesis-class Titans are typically equipped with a mix of Quake Cannons, Volcano Cannons, Inferno Guns, Plasma Destructors and Apocalypse Missile Launchers.

Sinster Pattern Warlord Titan - A weapon of such hidden terror and secrecy that few even within the Imperium's hierarchy suspected its existence, the Warlord-Sinister was a thing that should not be. It represented the fusion of the most powerful battlefield military technology known to the Imperium -- the Titans of Mars -- and the "weaponized" power of bound Alpha Grade psykers enslaved and bled dry like living batteries by forbidden arcane technologies. Such arts, the merest hint of which would result in a death warrant for their creator, were never usually offered to exist, save that if it was the case that terror was permitted, for the hand that ordained it was the Emperor's command for its use was committed to one of the most covert and macabre of all the Imperium's agencies of war and political control -- the Ordo Sinister. The apotheosis of this dark presence and malign harvest given shape in the body of the Warlord-Sinsister, a variant of the more widely known Warlord Main Battle Titan, made it the only known "Psi-Titan" to be utilized by the Imperium. It was deployed in small numbers prior to the Horus Heresy, though rumors persisted as to the existence of other prototypes of experimental Titan patterns hidden even from the eyes of the mighty and the powerful Council of Terra.

Armament

The Warlord-class Titan has four Battle Titan weaponry hard-points on its shoulders and arms, allowing for a greater variety of weapon configurations. While Scout Titan weapon batteries can be mounted, Warlords usually mount Battle Titan weaponry. There is even a specialist class of Imperial combat walker based on the Warlord design, the rare Psi-Titans, where psychic weaponry is substituted for conventional Titan weapons for use against daemonic entities. The most common Mars Pattern Warlord mounts two Turbo-Laser Destructors on its carapace, with a Volcano Cannon and Gatling Blaster on the arms. A special variant of the Mars Pattern Warlord Titan carries a close-combat Powerfist and Gatling Blaster on its arms, plus Vortex Missile and Rocket Launchers on the carapace.

A Warlord-class Titan can carry two of the following on its arm hardpoints:

Operation

Most Imperial records indicate that a Warlord Battle Titan possesses a crew of one Princeps commanding the Titan and four Moderati controlling its weapon systems, with two Tech-priests aboard to provide basic technical support and maintenance in combat. However, Dan Abnett's Titanicus differs on this configuration, stating that a Warlord crew consists of the commanding Princeps, a Moderati who is second in command, a Sensori, tasked with monitoring and using the engine's sensors, and a Steersman, who actually moves the massive Titan.

Deployment

Warlord-class Battle Titans are normally deployed into combat alone, as they are rare and extremely powerful. On certain occasions when Imperial forces face a threat of extraordinary magnitude, Warlord Titans may be deployed in a Battle Group containing three of these mighty war engines. Warlord-class Titans can also be organised into mixed Battle Groups with Reaver-class Battle Titans, in which their Titan Legion deploys three of each class of Battle Titan for a total of six war machines in the group. These Battle Groups can be armed and used as the group's commanding Princeps sees fit, but they work together to complete a common objective. In general, the Princeps of the most powerful or oldest Titan in a group is the commander of the Battle Group.

Chaos Warlord Battle Titan

Amongst the Forces of Chaos, Warlord-class Chaos Titans are ancient and irreplaceable relics left over from the days of the Horus Heresy. They are the remnants of those Traitor Titan Legions who sided with the Renegade Warmaster Horus during those dark times and whose blasphemous names still echo with dread thousands of Terran years later. The majority of these monstrous war engines have seen millennia of service with Chaotic forces and have long since become utterly corrupted by the touch of the Ruinous Powers and the Warp. To differentiate these corrupted Warlords from their Imperial counterparts, the Imperium has designated these war machines with different class names that have been happily adopted by these Titans' Renegade crews. The Chaos Warlord-class Titan has four different variants depending on which God of Chaos the Titan is aligned with. One bonemeal only spawns three or four End Crystals at a time, which is around how many the game requires to revive the Ender Dragon. The Redditor’s video ends with the unceremonious destruction of the End Crystals and Glow Squids as the player’s field of TNT ignites and explodes. Pair this plugin with one Minecraft player’s nightmarish mod for Ghasts, and players can also set up a truly horrifying confrontation for their friends.

User fishcute has posted the download link for BoneMealAnything on SpigotMC, one of the largest hubs for Minecraft server organizers and server projects. The creator of the plugin says they took inspiration from popular Minecraft YouTuber iskall85. The Redditor also encourages downloaders to reach out with any issues regarding the default uses of bonemeal. Spigot hosts several thousand pages of such plugins for players to download. While BoneMealAnything may not compare to the attention to detail of the Minecraft working chessboard plugin posted by Reddit user cupofcode, it certainly lends added versatility to any survival mode server.

Some Minecraft players may wonder at the real utility of duplicating items in bulk when they can swap in and out of creative mode at any time to give themselves unlimited stacks of any item. But the important aspect to keep in mind is these plugins are restricted to multiplayer servers, where members might not want their fellows going in and out of creative mode and taking away the challenge of the game. With this plugin, players still have to find at least one of a given object to be able to duplicate it. In addition, this way of exploiting resources is undeniably wackier than going into creative mode.

"Puppet Master: Axis Termination"- It sadly might be time for those delightful killer-dolls to throw in the towel for good...

Say what you will about creator Charles Band's long running low- budget killer-doll franchise "Puppet Master." The fact is for darned-near close to thirty years now, the series has managed to continue on with relative competence, while maintaining at least a certain degree of imagination and low-brow entertainment in each new chapter. From the fun and sometimes genuinely creepy initial trilogy, through the kitschy 90's gems that were the fourth and fifth chapters, and indeed through a surprisingly fun prequel in the 'Retro' spin-off... "Puppet Master" had done pretty well for itself over the years. Unfortunately, a troubling noticeable trend has plagued more recent entries in the saga, and it's becoming increasingly clear that at a certain point, enough is enough. Hindered by lower budgets and a general apathetic feeling of "been there, done that", the last few films have come across as a mere shadow of what the series once was, and the most recent chapter- 2017's "Axis Termination"- is perhaps the worst offender. While not objectively the worst of the series in terms of story, it's just so wholly unremarkable and thrown-together that you can't help but feel cold and disconnected from the opening sequence through the final climactic battle. And it's a sign that it sadly might be time for those delightful killer dolls to finally throw in the towel for good. At least in terms of the original series continuity. "Axis Termination" follows an unlikely group of heroes who are brought together by the allied force during World War II. Each member gifted in some way- including some with magical and psychic abilities- the team are given the mission to work alongside the puppets of Andre Toulon in order to battle a dreaded group of Nazis whom are seeking to gain Toulon's formula for everlasting life. However, when the daughter of team leader Dr. Ivan Ivanov (George Appleby) is kidnapped, matters take a personal turn, and it becomes a mission of vengeance. To give some minor credit where it is due, the concept is actually quite fun, and it serves as an interesting enough follow-up to the previous two movies, which were similarly placed in a World War II setting. It creates a unique atmosphere allows for some decent contrast with more modern entries in the series. The idea of a borderline superhero-inspired team of allied forces is also quite amusing, and I actually genuinely liked Appleby as the gifted Dr. Ivanov- a man suffering dwarfism who is frequently ridiculed, yet also holds more power than even he will admit to. Unfortunately, a likable lead and a funky concept can only get you so far, especially when the movie doesn't know what to do with them. "Axis Termination" feels strained... coming across as too rushed and undeveloped, yet also somehow feeling dull and over-padded. And look, I understand that there was simply no real money to work with... but that doesn't excuse shoddy situational writing and half-baked character development. It's a poorly constructed, slap-dash effort that feels like it was put together out of obligation moreso than motivation. The story is minimal and lacks proper build-up or conclusion, there's a distinct lack of stakes and shockingly the puppets themselves- the stars of the series- feel tacked on and superfluous. Visually the film is flimsy and has a really cheap, tacky look to it. And given the modern age of digital photography, I can't just sit back and act like that's OK anymore. Anyone with a cheap DSLR and some shop-lights can make something that looks semi- professional. So it's hard to excuse people with decades of experience giving us such visual drivel. Director Band, returning to helm the series once again, doesn't seem to care much. His choice in shots, composition and flow is suspect at best, and lacks any real thought. It's put together in the blandest of ways- every scene being composed of simple wide shots and shot-reverse-shot editing, and the few times he tries to do anything fun with the camera, it comes off as hockey and out of left field. This isn't made any better by the woeful acting, with the bulk of the cast looking very uncomfortable on-camera. It's unintentionally amusing, and some genuinely cringe-worthy line-deliveries left me chuckling when it clearly wasn't appropriate. As it stands, "Puppet Master: Axis Termination" might not quite be the worst of the series, but it's a continuation of the general downgrade in quality that has occurred over the past few installments, and it really feels like the series is dead in the water at this point. There's no money to build creative effects or kills anymore. There's no motivation on the part of the filmmakers to try and take the series in new and interesting directions. And it all feels so by-the-books that it comes across as a wholly pointless endeavor. Thankfully, there is some hope for the franchise with a somewhat higher-budgeted reboot in the works. But as it stands, I think I'm pretty much done with the original series. "Axis Termination" musters up a very poor 2 out of 10. I wouldn't even really recommend it to fans.
