ik naruto was never normal about sasuke BUT sasuke was also never normal about naruto either like. hes so helpless he cant help being himself around naruto no matter how much he tries to be a revenge-focused machine.

naruto will lay the most obvious bait and sasuke takes it every time. he watched naruto ask sakura for advice and pouted his way through asking naruto to tell him too. he baited naruto into continuing the wave mission, and takes every subsequent opportunity to do so.

the first time he activated his sharingan in battle was to protect naruto. ‘his body just moved on its own’. when he’s near-death, he dreams; not of his deceased clan, or his ‘evil’ brother, but of naruto.

he is convinced that killing naruto will put him on a whole ‘nother level (bc he’s the strongest bond sasuke has) and challenges him multiple times (also possibly mentioning anything about his feelings for the first time since the massacre) but when naruto is unconscious before him he does nothing. he cant. he leaves him, because maybe, if he stays away from him itll be the same, he wont have to kill him

and then three years later he sees him again.

hes older, but so recognizably naruto that it hurts. he’s a reasonable distance away but for some reason he gets closer, so close that they’re nearly chest to chest. looks into him and at Kurama in a way that he wouldnt before, recognized all of naruto in an instant while half hugging him. he’s deranged.
