Review for my good boys the bellsprout line?
Tumblr media
Bellsprout has gotta be one of the silliest Pokemon out there in terms of movement, second only to Toedscool. Look at this ridiculous thing with its skinny little root legs and dot eyes. How can you not enjoy it?
Tumblr media
Also, pitcher plants are always cool, and giving it a "body" made of the roots and stem is fun and something that weirdly isn't done a whole lot with grass-types. The colors are also pretty nice, with a good mix of complementary yellows, greens, and browns, with a pink rim to boot (similar to actual pitcher plants, though they usually have a red gradient as well). It's super simple, but really enjoyable.
Tumblr media
Weepinbell starts to edge a bit close to the "even blend middle evolution with no unique traits" trope, but it avoids it mostly by lacking the body of Bellsprout, but being oriented upside-down compared to Victreebel. What also helps it is it's absolutely silly googly eyes, which combined with the always-open "mouth" give it the impression of constant shock. I also like the addition of the green dots, which help break up the yellow areas a bit without being overly intrusive. Nothing too crazy, but it works.
Tumblr media
Victreebel is probably my favorite of the line. I really like the change to slit-like pupils and the eyes being directly under the rim, and the way said rim now sports a pair of fangs for good measure. The eyes taking up less space means there's more room for green dots, and the leaves and body shape are really nice and have a better flow to them than Weepinbell's.
I also like the long stem in the back, which kind of mimics the bottom of a tropical pitcher plant without literally having it in the same place. Likewise, the leaf at the top is interesting, as it kind of works to pull in food in place of it not actually having any hands. Just a very balanced design all around.
Tumblr media
As a quick note, the line was supposed to get a split evo ala Bellossom in Gen 2. There's actually a subtle baseball theme to this guy, because it's name (Tsubomitto) references catchers mitts, and its legs look a bit like baseball pants. Get it? Like the opposite of a pitcher is a catcher? Anyway, it's kind of fun, but it just looks a bit too similar to Bellsprout in overall body shape to really feel like it would've added anything to the line.
(Also, side note 2: these guys don't need anything too badly, but given that pitcher plants are normally extremely red in color, I think it would be fun to have a fire/grass regional that spits oil instead of acid. Bellsprout's legs could look like little fuses!)
Tumblr media
Anyway, overall, a simple but pretty fun line with some neat looking plant monsters.

Here it is! Piñata Gardener Au Fic!
This is Chapter One and also I should have mentioned this isn't a fic of its own bit at the same time it is.
You can learn more if you check the tag for the au.
Basically it is in a book on wattpad as a chapter but knowing not many people may use wattpad. I use it because it's not as active.
This is also my first kinda fic so it may be a little off since I stopped working on it for a while and only just now started again on it.
Okay first of all it should probably already be known by now, b!4nksh!ppers and pr0sh!ppers do not interact or touch my stuff, I got a habit of checking notes.
Alright here we go!
Chapter One - Somewhere New
Crashes of waves and calls of wildlife, seemed out of place.
The last and only thing Ingo could remember was being on the subway with his brother.
Sand was in his mouth, nose, and eyes, why was he on a beach? Could he have fallen asleep? Was it a dream? It felt way too real to be a dream.
The sand looked to have patterns in it, but it only got weirder when he was able to take in his surroundings.
Everything was so colorful and full of life, it was odd. But it soon hit him, where was Emmet?
"Emmet? Em? Bro? He's not here... did he, no he couldn't have. Knowing Emmet he must have gone up ahead"
It was warm, climate seemed to be tropical based on the vegetation.
Who knew if it was an island or a larger land mass, he needed to find out.
"I mustn't derail, I need to get to the bottom to this"
It didn't seem to difficult to make his way through it seemed there was already a path, that seemed to be used. So that could mean that there might be inhabitants, but the question is are they friend or foe.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw what could be a sawsbuck but it looked different, was it some regional variant.
It seemed to be more plump but also a hot pink, purplish blue with a yellow underbelly. It ran off before he could even get a good look.
"I am definitely not in unova anymore... and I highly doubt this is alola either"
He encountered a path that seemed to be man-made with could mean there was people here. In-between the two paths was a sign post.
One sign pointed right, no words but a picture. An apple tree with a odd looking pokemon that looked like a colorful mudstale but was it?
The other sign pointing left was hard to figure out what it was. It looked like a strange pokemon with a green patterned skin, like some kind of politoad.
Looking down both paths he didn't know which to chose for who knew what could be waiting.
"An apple might be a sign of an orchard, meaning there might be people, but if they are friendly to foreigners..."
Ingo started on his path, he set his destination and started forward.
But where was Emmet in this time, well on the other side of the island. Passed out in a tree.
"...I- I am Emmet and everything hurts, arc it hurts..."
It seems that he made a rough landing hitting a tree possibly falling.
"Oh I think I may have broke a rib... ow-"
Finally coming to he started to realize that he wasn't in a subway car anymore.
"Sqwak?"
"Hmm, what is that?"
Over on what looked like a banana tree sat a black and white papery parrot, it tilted it's head curious of this random person.
(Okay cutting in, thing about viva pinata,  piñatas look different in several ways, before they are tame they are black and white, they get color after being tamed)
"Is that some kind of chatot?"
A second one flew in as well as a third. Next thing Emmet knew there was a whole tree of these strange looking pokemon.
(Adding as pokemon since they (the brothers) do not know that these aren't pokemon yet)
He felt almost intimidated by the flock staring him down.
"Hey, how about we be nice and maybe have a small chat, I will walk this way and you stay there?" He said pointing behind him and slowly walking backwards.
Snap!
The flock started to swarm the conductor, holding his hat to his head.
"Ahh! I said peacefully, peacefully!"
Sprinting through the grass, the parrots grabbed and pecked at him. Guess they didn't like strangers.
He couldn't see where he was going there were too many, suddenly the ground collapsed below him.
"Whoa!"
Expecting a hard, painful landing, Emmet was met with a safety net of a web.
He could see a bit from the light the hole above him gave, looked like a mineshaft, overflowing with webs.
Scuttling sounds could be heard from the darkness, coupled by a squeak.
It seemed the scuttling was getting closer to him, he could move, whatever the web was made of it was sticky like glue.
"Oh no, no no no no, oh this isn't good"
It grew closer.
"Please, I'm verrry sorry for intruding into your home-"
He could finally see it, what had approached him. It was small, with patterns all over its body, which it's body looked like a squash. It didn't seem hostile.
"Eee?"
"You're actually kinda cute, you think you can help me out of your web?"
The papery creature scuttled up onto the web and positioned itself between the web and the young conductor. Another one of them came to help as well and then another.
The strange little creatures managed to get Emmet unstuck from their webs. Which was quite nice of them.
"Thank you, I'm verrry pleased that you where able to help me"
"Meep! Mee!" One of them chirped.
"Such strange pokemon..."
One the other side of the island, Ingo had made it to the orchard. The trees and apples were patterned just like everything else.
He decided to pick an apple, despite the fact he knew someone might and would get upset if someone messed with there crop.
The walk was quite long, and he needed energy, so it wouldn't hurt if he just took one.
As soon as the apple came off the branch, what sounded like a herdier came barking. But instead of a herdier was this light blue dog like creature and following being was a kid.
"Bark Bark! Wait up!"
"Bark Bark? That's a strange name?" He thought.
The light blue creature slide to a stop in front of him and barked which wasn't all that intimidating.
"Bark Bark what is up with- " the kid slide to a stop and gasped before lunging for the blue paper creature.
" You're not here to steal our apples are you!" The kid shouted.
" No, not in any way on that same track have you seen a man who looks like me but wears white"
The kid didn't reply, the Bark Bark squirmed in the arms of the child, as they stared at the conductor.
"I'm not allowed to talk to strangers, besides you're trespassing, do you work for professor pester?"
"What? No, I am simply asking for direction so I can locate my brother, also who is this professor pester?"
"Fine, follow me I'll lead you out of the orchard. We'll walk and talk"
"Well then all aboard"
"You are a strange person..."
It seemed that there where locals but if they where all like this kid, finding out more about this strange place will be difficult.
"Professor Pester is this islands biggest villain, he and his gang of ruffians have  been terrorizing and destroying gardens for almost twenty years or so. Piñata Island is a place where the piñatas on the main land come from, or at least the creature piñatas do..."
"So they are not pokemon..."
"Pokémon? I think you've been playing way to many video games... or maybe you don't go out much"
"Pokemon... video games?"
"There are these kids in my class that talk about it non-stop, they say alot of stuff I don't understand. Island has access to internet, and TV broadcasts from the mainland. And over sometime we had more and more trade come in, we have more stores and services"
"I'm definitely not in my own world anymore..."
"I've seen some clips and stuff while walking by and seen some of the characters... also nice train guy cosplay..."
"I regret to inform you this isn't a cosplay, this is my uniform"
The kid didn't respond but gave the conductor a side eye and confused look.
"What do you mean? It's clearly a cosplay" the kid said reaching for the conductor's sideburn and pulling on it.
"Ow! What was that for" ingo exclaimed.
"It... it didn't come off..." The kid looked shocked, " you're... you're real..."
"Of course I'm a real person young man, but I don't see why you had to do that"
"This is just like that show my sister use to watch... videogames coming into real life..." the kid muttered.
Finally at the orchard front, the kid cleared their throat to speak.
"Well, here we are just down that road you will find the village, talk to Arthur maybe he can help you, just look for Arthur's inn you can't miss it"
"I greatly appreciate you help young man, thank you"
"Yeah, sure thing"
Kid seemed a bit rude but who could blame him, he just trying to protect the orchard.
"Right back on track, I shall be at a new terminal right on schedule!"
(Saw a tumblr post on how to write the brothers dialog and I find it quite helpful)
One the other hand Emmet had made some new friends.
"I am Emmet, and I'm am verrry thankful for your assistance helping me, you think you can guide me out and put me back on track?"
The small arachnid tilted it's head, it didn't seem to understand. But the attention was pulled away from something approaching.
"Oh that's not a good thing"
"A person?" A voice called out.
"Hello?" He responded back.
What he saw made him think he was looking into a mirror, the person looked like his brother but also not.
"Uhhhh"
"Huh?"
"Welp, this is the weirdest thing that had ever happened to me" replied the look alike.
The man he saw look just like him but with a much smaller smile and light blond hair instead of platinum. He also looked younger.
"I'm Emmet and you look verrry strangely similar to me and even my brother... you're not some evil other worldly version, are you?"
"Dude, did you get stung in the head by a buzzlegum?"
"What is a buzzlegum?"
"Oh boy... uh let's see here... name's Oswald, or Ossie for short"
"Ah, as said before I am Emmet, I am a subway boss"
"You know weird thing is, I know it just a cosplay and your just playing part but it seemed quite real"
"Sorry to intervene but this is my uniform, it's not a cosplay. Also what do you mean by cosplay?"
"You dress like the character from the game, bud"
"What do you mean by game?"
Emmet seemed to be confused, where those creatures that helped him not pokemon?
"Okay, odd question but how did you get here?"
"Reallly not sure how. I was on the subway with my brother then the next thing I knew I was here. I also don't know what here is?"
Ossie turned away, and muttered to himself," that must have been the power spikes... ahem".
"From all I can tell you, you're not in your world anymore"
"What may you mean by that?"
"Well, to some here you appear like you're from the mainland, but have very odd clothes as well. Sorry I tend to ramble..."
"No need to apologize. It's verrry much similar to how me and my brother inform passengers about our station!"
"Thank you so kindly for assuring me, as it may seem there must have been an interdimentional vortex, or wormhole, for short. And it must have pierced you're dimension and sucked you in to ours"
"Quite interesting! Does stuff like this happen often?"
"No actually, there's only so much that we know about quantum physics, let alone our very solar system!"
So interdimentional travel, guess he wasn't in some strange new region.
It was still verrry confusing for Emmet but what about his brother?
Music and chatter slowly faded in, as a small town came into view.
"Finally I had reached the terminal, hopefully I can gather some information to help me on my way"
It was almost like as soon as he entered eyes where right on him. Many it felt like judging eyes.
A few people could be seen shopping or talking in front or inside shops. Some kids where outside playing on a familiar gaming system. One of them had looked up and made eye contact with the conductor who had no idea where to go next.
With shock the kid tapped their friend on the shoulder. The friend looked to his friend who pointed to the conductor and the kid's jaw dropped open in surprise.
Signs didn't seem to have words but images, it seemed like it was gonna be difficult finding Arthur's Inn. He could ask around but it seemed everyone seemed quite new to his presence.
He heard some steps approaching from behind. He turned to see a older lady with objects strung into her dreadlocks, with an orange mask, blue apron and quite a few accessories.
"Aw a new cus- I mean visitor from the main land, you are from the main land right" she said, sounded quite enthusiastic. She seemed to be a merchant.
"Uh I'm not really sure, something tells me that this mainland isn't the land where I departed from"
"Well you do look a bit different from foreigners we usually see"
"I was wonder where I could find Arthur's Inn?"
"You can find Arthur just down the way"
"Thank you, may I now continue on my track-"
"Hey not so fast buddy" she said grabbing the back of his coat collar.
"Miss I mustn't derail or a may not be able to reach a terminal"
"Well here at costalotts information doesn't exactly come cheap, if you have any chocolate coins you can deposit them and be on your way!"
"Pay for information!" Ingo exclaimed.
"Sorry pal, but those are the rules of the shop"
"I don't have chocolate coins, I only have Pokéyen... about maybe 1500?"
"Pokéyen, sounds quite foreign-"
The shop woman was stopped mid-sentance, but a brunette in leaf themed clothing.
"Okay, Lottie that's quite enough. This man is really needing to be on his way" she said pushing Ingo along to get away from the shop woman.
The shop woman groaned and went back inside her shop. Ingo saw this as an opportunity to thank the young woman.
"Thank you for helping me, miss..."
"I'm Leafos, I help the gardeners of the island and potential visitors"
He stood aside and held out his hand.
"Why thank you miss Leafos, sorry for the unscheduled meeting, I am Ingo, a subway boss..."
Leafos shook his hand, "well it's nice to meet you Ingo, you know we have someone named Patchingo who is a Piñata doctor here on this island!"
This Leafos gal seems to be quite more welcoming then the other islanders he has met so far.
"Oh, I think I may have derailed once again. If you could, where may I find Arthur's Inn?"
"Just down the street right there"
"Thank you"
"No problem, do stay safe and have a good rest of your day!"
It was nice for there to be someone who didn't just judge him.
Finally at the entrance of the inn, a bell chimed when he opened the door. A figure who he think must be Arthur stood a receptionist desk going though a guest list.
"Welcome to Arthur's inn! A place where you can get a great night's sleep as well as the best milk and cookies!" Arthur exclaimed before look up to see his new customer.
"You sir, you do seem a bit lost is there anything I can help you with?"
The subway boss didn't reply immediately, but was confused. Arthur, appeared to have a keg for a head that also moved as he talked.
"Pardon me if I come off as rude but is the keg your..."
"Ah this, its a mask as well as part of my work uniform! Here I'll take off the mask to make it easier"
(In the games we never really see the town people without the masks so these might also count as headcanon)
Arthur, without the mask appeared to be freckled man with a small beard. This put a thought into the conductor's head, does everyone here wear a mask and how do the mask move with the persons face.
"So what can I do for you?" Arthur asked.
"Well, my brother and I run a subway in Nimbasa City in Unova and some how we ended up here on this island, I mean I think he's here. I just have a feeling he could be, but I think were not in our own world anymore..."
"Sorry, not sure what I can do to help you there... what does he look like?"
"Exactly like me, we're twin brothers, we'll he looks almost exactly like me. My brother tends to smile more then I do and instead of a black uniform, he wears white" Ingo Explained.
"Alright, we'll have one of the night watchlings look out for him"
"Might I ask what is a Watchling?"
"Watchlings are helpers. They help gardeners deal with wild and sour piñatas as well as ruffians. Kalum will keep an eye out for tonight!"
Out of a room shifting about was this young man with short buzz cut hair and glasses. He seemed to be wearing a long sweater with overalls.
He only took a small glance at Ingo before shuffling over to Arthur to be given instruction. After Arthur gave who Ingo could only presume is Kalum, the boy looked to the conductor and then stepped outside.
"Don't worry, Kalum's a good kid he'll keep an eye out for your brother" Arthur explained as he put his mask back on,"also you can stay here for tonight"
"Thank you sir for the offer but, I don't think I have the currency that is used on this island, I can't possibly pay for a room"
"No need to worry, I'll put it on a tab for you so you can pay it at another time for when you do have the currency"
"Oh, thank you"
"No problem also your room will be the second door on the left"
"Thank you"
"Also when you mentioned subways it made be remember when I visited some family in Manhattan, place has a huge subway system"
"That is quite interesting..."
"Alright, I'll let you go and get some rest, maybe someone else found your brother and is also helping him out"
Ingo thought to himself, that could happen but it is likely.
Entering his room it seemed quite homely. The walls were a smoothed apple wood with a colorful tile floor. The bed had a quilt on it, covered in patterns and patches. A TV sat in a dresser next to a vase of bright colored flowers.
Ingo could help but flop down in the bed a sigh, when until he felt something fall from his coat. He sat up to see what it was, it was a pokeball. Pressing the button on the device it popped open.
"Chandalure!" The pokemon exclaimed.
It looked around at the new surroundings, before looking at its trainer.
"Lure?"
"I don't know either were we are, I think we need to investigate this place more, and find Emmet where ever he may be. But I don't think we are in our own world anymore"
"Chanda..."
"All we can hope is that he is somewhere safe... or somewhere close we need to find how we got here"
He was tried, verrry tired. But it seemed Oswald knew what he was doing. Finally out of the tree line they came to a small town, there were a few houses and shops.
This meant that if this island is big enough there might be more towns.
"That there is the flower shop and there is my grandpa's marketplace, not many people come here but it is for delivery"
"Quite a small place you have here, yep quite small, not to be rude if I came off as so" Emmet replied.
"Well it had been hard since my grandmother- moved on from this life. It's just me, my parents, grandpa, and the Westles"
"Westles? Who are they?"
"They sell garden supplies for the gardeners in the area"
"Gardeners, why would there be gardeners on an island"
"The gardeners help provide piñatas for piñata central, you see that mountain over there. You see that building that is piñata central. When a piñata is need for a party or event, gardeners will send there piñata to piñata central were they are sent out to the main lands, and after that party or event, they are sent back and fixed up and ready to go"
"Wait so, those spiders were piñatas, I thought you were joking at first but wow I have soooo many questions now!"
"I think we might need to hold off on questions until tomorrow, besides it will be your first day as a gardener!" Oswald said.
"I am Emmet and I am not a gardener, I am a subway boss, besides I don't even know where my brother is" The young conductor added.
"Well, you won't be able to manage with trains here, gardening is kinda the way to go since you don't exactly have an certification here on the island" Oswald explained.
"You mean I need to create a garden?"
"Yeah... kinda... almost it use to be my best friends garden but-"
"Bestfriend? Why did they abandon it? Did something bad happen?"
Oswald didn't answer but changed the subject before anything else could happen.
"I'm sure gramps will be fine with you staying for a bit..."
The outside looked like a trailer park house, but it looked a little nicer than one. The inside was neat, it looked almost like those houses from the 70's. Photo portraits and other miscellaneous objects hung on the walls.
"Gramps, I'm back also I have someone staying over!" The researcher called out.
"Os my boy, it better not be another sales person trying to take the store now-" a voice replied followed by the thumping of a cane from the kitchen.
The man wore a mask that looked a bit like a owl mask, had a plaid shirt with suspenders holding up a pair of dress pants.
"Heh you kinda look a bit like Oswald here with those side burns, what's your name son?" The old man asked.
"I am Emmet, Emmet Trayen!" Emmet Replied
"Well, Emmet you can sleep out here in the living room. Sorry it ain't much but we hope you're doing okay if not we'll help you in any way we can. Ya from the mainland?" Oswald's grandfather asked.
"Well I- yes and I think I may have gotten separated from my twin brother in the process"
"If he somehow ended up on the island he'll show up, probably in one of the towns" the old man reassured.
"There should be a quilt in the cupboard under the TV, all I can say is don't mind Hootyfruity"
"H-Hootyfruity? What's that?"
*Hoo!*
On top of a bookshelf sat a colorful owl like piñata. It look like a Noctowl but much more rectangular.
"Is that?"
"That's Clara, don't worry she won't pay you any mind" Oswald's grandpa explained.
In a new place, living in a small little- well it's not really a town more like a settlement. Being in a completely different world then his own, and he knew he wasn't alone. Something came to mind, falling and two identical rifts. He had this feeling like a gut feeling that tomorrow something would happen, something he wouldn't expect.
The house grew quite all but for the creaks of the old building, the ticking of the grandfather clock and the crickets chirping outside.
Couch was comfortable, thankfully and it seemed that the piñata was asleep, despite being an owl.
"Tomorrow, tomorrow I will go to that town and see if anyone had seen Ingo, someone had got to have seen him... I hope"
End of chapter one.
Sorry if it had too much dialog and that it was pretty long. You can ask me questions about the au, ask box is always open!

Chapter 9
After a few more turns and an elevator trip later you said your goodbye to the tall man.
Awkward silence filled the space around you, at least on your end.
"So who are you again? I don't remember hearing about you from the briefings."
"Oh, I uh came here with Cyrus."
The grunt scrunched his face.
"The creepy antisocial guy?"
You blinked, it didn't occur to you that other people might not like Cyrus. You assumed his control over time and space would give him all kinds of leverage.
"Is that how everyone around here feels about him?"
"Mostly yeah I don't understand half the things he says. Not like I want to anger a guy who has dialga and palkia."
Oh this was great! Maybe you could get a few grunts on your side!
"I wanted to see if I could go outside. It's really stuffy in here. But I need an escort."
"You've got to me kidding me."
"Just for a little bit, I need some fresh air. It's so stuffy in here!"
"No! I don't have time for this!"
You slumped maybe you could try later. No! You wanted to get out of here right? Grow a better backbone. If you could yell at Cyrus and live you could get this grunt to listen to you!
"Need I remind you I came with Cyrus?"
The sound of waves sounded heavenly to you. When was the last time you had been to a beach? It felt so unreal, you reached down and grabbed the sand, letting it fall through your fingers.
You chuckled to yourself guess there were some perks being connected to the galactic boss. You side eyed the grunt behind you looking every bit like a child pouting.
"Hey, you need to be careful out here, sandyghast and palosand tend to hang around beaches.
"What?"
The rainbow rocket grunt rolled his eyes
"There's ghost types that live in the sand, they suck your soul out or something. Just be careful okay?"
"Right of course."
You looked out at the sea, it felt so good to see wide open spaces that were not filled with floating islands. You sighed letting the stress wash away.
You glanced at your 'bodyguard' who stared right back.
"What?"
"Nothing, you seem to know a lot about the beach here. Do you live around here?"
The grunt eyed you suspiciously.
Yeesh tone the probing down.
"I'm just trying to make conversation. Didn't mean to offend you or anything."
The man sighed.
"No, I just like to read in my spare time. It's also helpful to learn about the place you're staying in."
"Where are we anyway?"
"The Alola region, a bunch of small tropical islands near each other."
"I never been to a tropical island before. I'm from Sinnoh it's a lot colder over there. Even our warmest town isn't this hot."
You bent down playing with the water as the waves lapped at your hand.
"Hmm"
"It's nice."
Footsteps faded behind you, was he leaving you unattended?
You stared out into the ocean, you looked to your right. Noticing an island in the distance. You smiled, imagine if you tried to swim there right now. You wouldn't make it even halfway, even if sharpedos didn't exist. You needed a water type that you could ride. It wouldn't do to get injured and dragged back to Cyrus. Like you'd give him another advantage.
The Footsteps soon came back, you glanced back at the grunt. A black blob was shoved in your face, your heart leap as you scrambled back. Your eyes adjusted to the thing in front of you.
Pink pins and a cotton-like tail were the next things you noticed, with dots for eyes blinking up at you.
What in the world?!
"This is a pyukumuku, fed him once and he hasn't left me alone since."
The pyukumuku squeaked in agreement. Bobbing as much as it could. The grunt set it on the ground. The both of you watched it eagerly hop over to the grunt, hopping in circles around his boots.
"Why don't you catch him? He really likes you."
"Hes too weak and they don't evolve as far as I know. He'd just be taking up space. I was kinda hoping it'd latch onto you. Since you're alone and all, clearly that's not happening."
You ignored the last comment, content on watching the small pokemon.
The pukumuku just continued to nuzzle the grunts boots. The poor thing seemed oblivious to the fact that the grunt had no interest in it.
"Ah swablu stop that you've had enough treats."
Swablu chirped away, hopping around you.
Stopping a few times to pull at your clothes. Big watery eyes pleaded at you.
Aww.
"*Sigh* alright just one more."
Jealousy burned in your chest, here was this pokemon, clearly just wanted him to love it back. And, and he just took it for granted!
"Yeah."
You stayed out for a good half hour before trudging back to your prison. You stared at the intimidating building, they didn't even try to make it subtle. Well when you have so many powerful people in one spot, who could stop you?
You entered the building, the grunt shutting the door on the small strangler following you. The cool air hit you, the sound of the sea cut off in favor of the sound of lights buzzing above you.
"Here I'll escort you back."
You stared at your door, you couldn't let your only connection on getting out of here leave. You'd be back at square one.
"Isn't there anything I can do, it's boring staying up in my room."
The grunt growled.
"Listen I'm not your babysitter! I got things I have to do."
"Sorry."
You were just outside maybe it was better not to push, at least not yet. Clearly you'd have to lower his guard down first. In the off chance you saw him again.
The grunt grumbled, pulling you out of your internal thoughts.
"You can borrow some of my books...I'll bring them up. Anything you're interested in?"
Oh maybe you could make this work.
"Thank you, uh any books on local pokemon would be great. Maybe I can convince Cyrus to let me have another one."
You still both stood in front of your room.
The awkward air lifted a bit, you gave the grunt a thankful smile.
"Right I'll do that...bye."
You closed the door behind you, a grin slowly started to spread on your face. The first step of your plan was a success! So you were in the Alola region, which were made up of islands. You kinda wished you had paid more attention to geography in class. But that didn't matter right now, well it would, ah nevermind. You could just island hop, even with Cyrus using palkia you were sure you could escape!
From what you could see the islands in the distance made of a lot of thick jungle. Good for hiding, but most likely chalk full of pokemon. Pokemon you had no info on. It was dangerous enough going into a forest knowing the local wildlife. You weren't about to die when freedom was so close. Hopefully that grunt would come back soon with those books so you could see what you were working with.
You'd need a pokemon to go with you. No way could you leave without one. You would have to find where team rocket kept all their pokemon. Surely they had extra when they had to recruit.
Well nothing a little more snooping couldn't fix.

the laundry list (of pokemon traits)
you've got a concept for a pokemon creature! great! but what makes a pokemon into a pokemon, from the average gamer's perspective?
PRESENTING: THE LAUNDRY LIST, a list of all pokemon traits you could possibly need to fill in for a given pokemon ever. treat this like a checklist and go down it, and fill them in to your heart's content. or don't fill them in, who cares! it's your pokemon, bud, not anyone else's.
let's get started!
(by the way, you don't need to do these in order, they're just organised in a way that makes sense to me. again, do whatever.)
NAME
every pokemon needs a good name. if you know anything about pokemon, you probably know that their names are often portmanteaus, IE multiple words or components of them strung together into a conglomerate. it is not difficult to make a good pokemon-sounding name, but it is also not particularly easy. there are general guidelines for this, but also, feel free to just name your fakemon glorp or whatever. (1)
Tumblr media
pick up a thesaurus. this will be very helpful in giving you a pool of base words to mash together like two dolls kissing. if you're using an animal/object/plant, look up words related to it. this might be something more general or literal (like rock) or something more evocative, tied to a behaviour of theirs (like ruff being the sound that dogs make). don't just look up words that describe how they look, look up words related to their concept or character! what are their most interesting traits? what do you want to highlight? in the last post we talked about having a strong pokemon concept — this is where it will come into play.
have fun with wordplay. you've got words? good! smash them together like they're particles in the hadron collider. make horrible puns! you don't need follow the exact spelling of the original. feel free to drop vowels and change the hard "c" to the letter "k" wherever feels the most appropriate to you. feel free to also use words in different languages, depending on the regional inspiration of the pokemon.
make it readable. so the thesaurus part is, unfortunately, where some people stop, without actually trying to read their pokemon names aloud. not all of your names need to have their inspiration notable on first glance, but try reading it out loud a few times to see if you like the sound of it. often what makes this weird is the cadence of the pokemon name — for example, making what was originally a prefix into a suffix (e.g. placing the trop- in tropical at the end of your fakemon's name). switching things around like that can make it more difficult to actually understand the base inspiration of your pokemon, mostly because your reader will be matching things the wrong way round.
google your fakemon's name and components. this is especially important if you are using a word from another language, which you might not know the full implications of (practical or literal). (2) please also google the components, lest you end up including a racial slur in the name of your pokemon. if all is well, you may proceed.
make it practical. the longest existing pokemon names are 12 characters, of which there are only three (crabominable, squawkabilly, and brambleghast). you could also compress the base words to fit: remember, if the pokemon company can abbreviate alligator to -aligatr, so can you. (3) feel free to go longer than this if you aren't planning to code it into an actual pokemon game.
TYPING
Tumblr media
typing is honestly pretty straightforward. pokemon has 18 types, some pokemon have single types, some pokemon have dual types. some typings already exist in the game, some don't. some pokemon even have unique types. people like to do lists of fakemon to fill in the typings which are currently not in existence in the game, so that's a pretty common fakemon archetype.
ideally, your pokemon's typing should match their concept and build. each type of course has its own strengths and weaknesses, and so some types perform better than others overall. but if your polar bear lives on an ice mountain or floats on an iceberg all the way to club penguin, it should probably be ice type or something.
my other note is that if you're going to design a fakemon pokedex, try to make sure that the type balance at least somewhat reflects that of an existing pokedex, with adjustments for the actual terrain of your region or whatever. I like using the unovan pokedex because it's designed to stand on its own without any additions until post-game.
BASE STATS
hopefully you are making this pokemon's base stats after designing their type, so you will know what to buff and debuff. base stats are what determines your pokemon's stats before natures, IVs, and EVs. (4) for those who have never looked at a stat-spread before, there are six stats, and the number they have is the number your pokemon will have at level 100. stats should always be made in conjunction with other battle mechanics.
HP is very straightforward, it's the literal amount of health your pokemon has. for example, shedinja has 1 base HP because of its ability, while blissey has 255 base HP, the max any pokemon can have in one stat.
ATTACK determines the amount of damage your pokemon does when using physical moves. chansey has base Atk 5, while mega mewtwo x has base Atk 190.
likewise, DEFENSE determines how resistant your pokemon is to physical damage. chansey also has a base Def of 5 in this, meaning it's very physically weak (because it's an egg), while eternamax eternatus tops this out at base Def 250.
SPECIAL ATTACK determines the amount of damage your pokemon does when using special moves. feebas has base SpA 10 in this, an example of how stats can also tie into your pokemon's narrative (milotic's base SpA shoots up to a whopping 100, all thanks to the ugly duckling). topping out this stat is currently mega mewtwo y at base stat 194.
SPECIAL DEFENSE of course determines how resistant your pokemon is to special damage. magikarp is here at base SpDef 20, while the highest is also eternamax eternatus at 250.
SPEED makes your pokemon go fast and move first. shuckle, while very specially defensive (230), also has a base Spe of 5, while regieleki peaks at base Spe 200.
your BASE STAT TOTAL (BST) is all these six stats added up together. special forms and legendaries usually have the highest BSTs, while starters have between 520 and 535 BST depending on the generation.
stats should be made with the pokemon's moveset in mind, IE if they're physically offensive, they should ideally have some physical moves that do serious damage. that said, not all pokemon can be winners, so it's fine if your fakemon is a little bit of a failmon.
stats also 1) generally get better as the pokemon evolves and 2) either lean broadly physical or broadly defensive. if you're familiar with any type of fighting game ever, you'll know that there are more specific builds like glass cannons and so on.
a good reference point is the bulbapedia page listing pokemon by (BSTs). find an existing pokemon with a similar build to yours, then copy or make subtle (or major!) amendments to their stats. this is the most straightforward way to balance your pokemon. note also that certain types have general trends in their stats (e.g. psychic types tend to be high SpA for obvious reasons), so take that into account when making your fakemon.
MOVE POOL
every pokemon has moves, of course. there are plenty of existing moves and you can happily note down what your fakemon learns at each level (see the STATS section for the physical/special divide).
moves have different types, not all of which are the same as your pokemon's. they have a wide variety of effects; some are offensive, some are defensive, some also have secondary effects. pokemon can learn move via levelling up, TMs, or egg moves. again, looking at the movesets of similar pokemon can really help with figuring this one out.
some pokemon have signature moves, IE moves that only that pokemon can use and learn via level up. if you're adding one of these to your pokemon, all I can humbly request is for you to not make the world's silliest and most unbalanced physical-special combo move that does 150 damage with no adverse effects named PENIS BLAST or something similar. but also, be creative! go wild, man. this is fiction. (5)
ABILITY
each pokemon can only have one ability at once. some pokemon have up to two potential abilities, and possibly one hidden ability on top of that. abilities do all sorts of funky stuff, like change a pokemon's type, change the weather, or boost the pokemon's stats when an opponent faints. regular abilities have a 50/50 chance of appearing if there's two of them, but hidden abilities usually only appear on pokemon with specific locations, event pokemon, etc.
like signature moves, there are also signature abilities. the same rules apply, and your best bet to figuring this out is looking at the existing list of pokemon abilities and figuring out one that is fun and cool, if balanced at all. your ability should ideally be relevant to a pokemon's concept (e.g. palafin's zero to hero is really funny and I like it a LOT), or relevant to the kind of pokemon they are (all starters have one regular ability and one hidden ability).
POKEDEX ENTRY
this is the flavour text addition to your fakemon. by now, you should have a strong fakemon concept and backstory, so literally just write it down. since most pokemon generations have two pokemon games in one release, there are usually two pokedex entries per release, which can say the same fact in a different way or say something completely different between the versions. they can also say things which are COMPLETELY contradictory or don't make sense, so don't worry about it. a pokedex entry usually signals how a pokemon functions in the wild, interacts with humans, and so on. this is how you give your pokemon lore.
you can also take into account things like time period or author reliability — the entry for lapras changes between generations from endangered to happily repopulated. pokemon legends arceus also has some unique facts based on the in-game context of pokemon knowledge of the past.
POKEMON CATEGORY
pokemon category is like, the shit that ash's pokedex reads out when it scans a pokemon for the first time. like, "gengar, the shadow pokemon". pokemon categories are usually one or two word/phrases. they describe either the pokemon's literal body or the concept that they're meant to embody, like how gyarados is "the atrocious pokemon" because it is literally the worst (and also a delight). pokemon categories can repeat, so don't worry if you end up naming yours something like "the dog pokemon".
if you're struggling to describe your pokemon in one or two words, this may be a sign that the component parts of your pokemon don't have strong synergy with each other. you might need to work on refining your concept a little bit, in that case.
SPRITE/KEY ART
you might be wondering why SPRITE/KEY ART is so low on the list given that that's like, the number one thing that people post when it comes to fakemon. this is mostly because I'm going to make a future post fully dedicated to talking about pokemon art, so it's just not the main topic of this post.
really though, art of your pokemon is literally just to show how your pokemon looks and help flesh out your concept. don't worry about it if you don't know how to do pixel art or draw in the masuda art style!
HEIGHT
pokemon come in a wide range of shape and sizes, but they should still ultimately be able to be someone's favourite pokemon. here's a list of pokemon by height for your reference. the shortest pokemon is joltik at 10cm tall (4 inches), and the tallest/longest pokemon is eternamax eternatus at 100m long (328 feet 1 inch). the tallest/longest regular pokemon is wailord at 14.5m (47 feet 5 inches). this makes sense because it's a blue whale.
you'll notice that I say both height and length because snake-like pokemon (basically anything longthy) are measured from head to tip of tail. why is furret 5 feet 10 inches long? boy, I wish I KNEW.
make your pokemon height whatever makes the most sense for its concept. there is technically no real limit upwards or downwards on this, but the vast majority of pokemon are 12 feet or less. again, find something that's similar to your build and measure against that.
WEIGHT
correspondingly, here is a list of pokemon by weight for your reference. this should roughly correspond to the material your pokemon is made of, like if a pokemon is made of literal rocks it should probably be heavier than a bug, unless the bug is also made of rocks. the lightest pokemon is gastly because it's made of gas, and the heaviest (right now!) is celesteela at 999.9kg (2204.4 lbs).
this is a good point to mention that yes, you can make pokemon height and weight into silly numbers for silly reasons. yes, you can have a pokemon where all its base stats are 69 and it has a height of 4.20m and weighs 420kg. who am I to stop you on this.
SHAPE
each pokemon has a shape in the pokedex, and yes there actually a limited number of possible shapes! there are 14 pokemon shapes available, and you can use them to search in pokemon HOME.
Tumblr media
think of these as less body-shaming your fakemon and more about just figuring out the general silhouette of your fakemon (like how many legs or arms it has, or none at all). this is probably something that should be applied retrospectively after you design your pokemon, so don't worry too much about it while making one.
note also that all the pokemon here have eyes! having eyes isn't a necessary trait in all pokemon (think zubat) but a face certainly is. faces are important in making them friendly.
FOOTPRINT
say it with me: if your pokemon has a foot, it can have a wikifeet page. in gen 4, there is a guy named dr footstep who will give your pokemon a ribbon "based on its footprint" (its friendship level in DPP, the BDSP one is different). not all pokemon have canonical footprints, because they're really only a thing up till gen 5, but I like their little pawsies. look at them!!
Tumblr media
EGG GROUP
Tumblr media
egg groups are not directly equivalent to real life taxonomy. for instance, not all "bugs" in the "bug" egg group have six legs. in fact, some of them are SPIDERS. they're more a description of the general group of the corresponding real-life thing, like how all mammals are in the "field" egg group (and hence why hot skitty on wailord action, etc.) and snakes are in the "dragon" egg group.
egg groups are almost exclusively for breeding purposes, since you can breed two pokemon of different genders from the same egg group. ditto has its own egg group because ditto can breed with any other egg group. "no eggs discovered" is for pokemon that can't breed, due to being legendaries, baby pokemon, gimmick pokemon, or nidoqueen.
"gender unknown" isn't strictly speaking a mechanical egg group, but pokemon with unknown genders can only breed with ditto (though of course, if they're in the no eggs discovered mechanical egg group, they can't breed at all).
GENDER RATIO & DIFFERENCES
gender ratios are actually equal parts mechanical and lore-based in pokemon, reason being that they're used to make pokemon easier or harder to find half the time.
for instance, starter pokemon generally sit at a 7:1 male to female ratio, reason being that the game doesn't want you to start a starter breeding factory at the beginning of your playthrough (the same with fossils and gift pokemon). other pokemon are gender exclusive or have gendered evolutions, like the nidos, vespiquen, or salazzle. some pokemon with a 3:1 gender ratio in either direction are usually human-like and look masculine or feminine (although YMMV on the genderification of arcanine, which is a dog-tiger). honestly the vast majority of pokemon are a 1:1 gender split, so unless there's a specific mechanical reason for you to do it or you seriously and deeply feel you have to do the gender binary for lore reasons, then yeah.
gender differences are often misapplied in (frankly) sexist fakemon. the vast, vast majority of existing pokemon visual differences are literally just things that the animal or whatever they're based on displays, like male and female lions having different manes. again, the vast majority of pokemon do not have visible gender differences: male and female gardevoirs look THE SAME. pokemon can look like whatever you want them to be, stop giving them human sexual differences. (6)
last note is that some pokemon with gender differences have slightly different stats, move pools, and abilities between the two genders. some pokemon, of course, have unknown genders, and these guys are usually objectmons of some kind, or legendary pokemon, etc.
OTHER MISCELLANEA
these are things that each pokemon technically has but I can assure you no fakemon creator goes out of their way to add into their fakemon's bio.
EV yield
each pokemon, when knocked out by another pokemon, gives the victor a number of effort values (EVs). this is not to be confused with individual values (IVs), which are a pokemon's genes. most pokemon drop the EV of the stat they're highest in, with evolved pokemon dropping more EVs corresponding to their stage. for instance, bulbasaur drops 1 EV, ivysaur 2 EVs, and venusaur 3 EVs total. these EV yields can be spread across different stats (venusaur has 2 SpA 1SpDef). here's a list.
experience yield and leveling rate
honestly this is kind of beyond me because I'm pretty bad at understanding large amounts of numbers and theorems but the broad rule is that more annoying a pokemon is (powerful/rarer/evolved) the more exp it gives when knocked out and the slower it levels up. (7) the exception to this is the chansey line, which gives an exorbitant amount of EXP and you should absolutely farm in large numbers to level up your pokemon.
catch rate
pokemon that are more powerful, rarer, and evolved have correspondingly shittier catch rates. legendaries have the worst catch rates. here's another list.
hatch time
pokemon that are more powerful and rarer IN THEIR BASE STAGE FORM have correspondingly longer hatching times. gyarados is very powerful but only has 5 hatch cycles because its base form is MAGIKARP. the longest hatch times are mostly pseudo-legends because legendaries don't have eggs (manaphy/phione notwithstanding). here's an extra list.
pokedex colour
all pokemon have an internal data-assigned colour, although this is no longer directly searchable in the pokedex. assume that this the main colour of your pokemon. here's a list also.
base friendship
pokemon that are (lore-wise) more friendly to the player or get along better with humans have higher base friendship. otherwise, they mostly average base friendship of 50 (gen 8 onwards). here's the final list!
conclusion
there are lots of traits that go into making a fakemon! this is because pokemon, broadly speaking, are complicated, and the pokemon franchise is wide and sprawling. don't feel compelled to fill in every single one of these characteristics: just pick the ones that you feel would help people to understand your fakemon better.
if you've made it all the way to the end of this 3600 word horrorshow, thanks for reading! I hope you get some use out of this.
footnotes
(1) I think about glorp at least once a month, but definitely every day when I'm actively making fakemon.
(2) this is also where sensitivity reading might come in handy, so if possible get someone from that culture to give it a once-over.
(3) from feraligatr, if anyone is confused.
(4) note that official pokemon calls base stats "species strengths" and EVs "base stats". yes this is confusing, I agree.
(5) if you want to practice balancing your pokemon, try learning a bit of competitive pokemon play and the strategies that are commonly used — consider looking at smogon or VGC as starting points. they employ different strategies.
(6) I do not make claims to the political progressiveness of pokemon or anything, but at least the majority of their animals are just animals and not animals with human tits.
(7) starters are all medium slow leveling rate, pseudo-legends and legends all in the slow leveling rate category.

Serena met Sinnoh's Champion, Dawn Hara, during her stay in Hoenn following a mix-up in one of Lilycove's resorts with their rooms. Dawn had traveled to the tropical region for diplomatic reasons, meeting with Hoenn's League officials, however due to her young age, Cynthia had made it a point to accompany her. Cynthia had booked them separate rooms, but a mishap occurred when Serena had booked her own room at around the same time.
The two teenagers had come face-to-face at the room, having been mistakenly double-booked in an oversight. It was almost a moment out of a sitcom, with the two girls not sure what to do as there were no other rooms available at the time. However, they would go on to recognize one another in part from their various contributions to their respective regions. In the end, Dawn offered that they share the room. They were able to get another futon (along with a full complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a day of their choosing as an apology for the mix-up).
Serena's stay at the resort was much shorter than Dawn's, with Dawn staying for a full week and a half, while Serena only had booked five nights. Even still, they became fast friends during their stay together. Serena had the opportunity to meet Cynthia over their meals, unable to stop gushing at the fact she was meeting one of her idols.
Her and Dawn's relationship quickly had a visible dynamic - Serena did a lot of the talking, while Dawn was mostly a listener, a passive observer. It was clear, however, they had a lot of similar passions, and held similar experiences in thwarting their regions' threats at the time.
Perhaps it was their quick and easy camaraderie, but Serena found herself confiding in Dawn about things she hadn't told many other people. She spoke of her adventure through Kalos, both the good and the bad. Her triumphs at the gyms, and her dealings with Flare that culminated to her losing her Lucatio, and nearly her own life. Serena even spoke about her bond with Yveltal, someone that Dawn was introduced to at a later point.
Dawn wasn't one to divulge her own personal details much, nor go into deep lengths on her life, though she did find herself returning the gesture. She spoke briefly about her time in the Distortion World, and how she had died during her battle with Giratina. They connected on their dreadful experience in their hospitals.
To Serena, it was liberating and freeing, in a way, to speak about her experiences and have someone be able to somewhat understand. The wounds were fresh, and she certainly shed a few tears recounting her tales, but her trip to Hoenn, and meeting Dawn, proved to be the catharsis she desperately had needed.
On Serena's final day at the resort, they both agreed to have a battle on Lilycove's large beach at sundown - after most of the tourists had left following the picturesque sunset.
Dawn didn't have access to Mega Evolution like Serena did, though the Champion was not bothered by this at all and insisted that Serena utilize it in their battle. From the moment Dawn sent out her first pokemon - her Empoleon - Serena could absolutely see and feel the sheer depth of their bond. It was unlike anything she'd ever seen thus far, feeling as if the duo's very souls were intertwined.
It was easily the most grueling and tough battle Serena had ever had. Dawn didn't hold back, nor did she pull any punches which Serena appreciated. In the end, despite Mega Evolving her Venusaur, even, Serena couldn't pull of a victory and lost to Dawn in a match that was much closer than Sinnoh's Champion would have thought. She had gotten down to one partly injured pokemon, and another one that was full health. If the tides had swung more in Serena's favor, Dawn would have suffered her first loss since her days traveling through Sinnoh.
They would part amiably, having exchanged numbers and promising one another to keep in touch - and that promise still holds to this day. Serena frequently contacts Dawn either through text, or by calling. They keep each other up to date on the various happenings in their lives, even meeting up in person should one another be visiting their respective region. Dawn has proved to be an incredibly valuable and trusted friend of Serena's, and credits their talks and time spent together as a large part of her healing journey.

More aesthetic pokemon trainer for the fandom! this time with a tropical aesthetic (basically Hawaiian aesthetic or should I say… Alolan? lol) since they could be a pokémon researcher coming from the Alola region and are usually wearing beach clothes (like Hawaiian shorts and a tank top over a swimming/diving suit) under their lab coat and having as their main team Pokemon native and exclusive to Alola. Crowley needs therapy after trying to force his responsibilities as headmage on this Yuu, Bewear (which is this Yuu's ace in the hole) didn't like this crow man attitude one bit.
OMG YESSSSS
imagine them being the sibling of professor Yew, essentially making them Yuurei’s cool aunt/uncle/family member
Bewear is a force to be reckoned with and is definitely in the top 5 scariest Pokémon for crowley
Alola prof yuu doesn’t look like much, and neither do their Pokemon, but they can pack quite a punch
I can also see them being the one to gift mushroom aesthetic yuu the egg that hatched morelull

Don't Bet on It - Emmet/Grimsley
It has been a hot minute since we've written any fanfiction so forgive us for our rustiness, but we've been lowkey obsessed w/ this pairing for a couple of months now.
Anyway, this fic is basically long-form acquaintances to enemies to rivals to friends to lovers arc lol.
Read it on AO3 as well (All Aboard!)
Chapter 1: Sharpedo I
“It pursues its prey at speeds of 75 mph and finishes them off with fangs that can crush iron. It is known as the bully of the sea.”
-Pokédex Entry #265 Pkmn Sun
The Alolan air was more than a bit stifling to the twin Subway Bosses of Unova as they saluted Elesa farewell outside her agency’s office.
She had warned them that they needed to pack lighter, but the twins had assured her that they would be fine. After all, on their Battle Subway, they had plenty of close calls with opposing fire pokemon and their flamethrowers, flame bursts, flame wheels, flare blitzes, fire blasts, blast burns, lava plumes, overheats—
But the subway cars were air-conditioned and the battles quickly decided.
Alola was not like their precious subway.
Alola was beautiful… but it was hot.
Even without their official work uniforms, it became apparent to both that they had severely underestimated the heat index… and now were sweltering with their poor choices in apparel.
Rolling up his sleeves, Ingo glanced over to Emmet, who was still trying (and failing) to keep up a pleasant smile even with the merciless sun beating down their necks.
“Emmet, I am afraid we may be at risk for sunstroke if we continue down this track. Shall we make an early detour for appropriate apparel? I know we scheduled shopping for later this week, but—”
“Yes! Let us depart right away!” Emmet could not wait for Ingo to finish, already quickly beginning to flag down a taxi.
Alola was entirely different from Unova, despite being a close neighbor to their home region. They had challengers from there, of course, and the regional Pokémon they brought with them were always intriguing. Emmet could still clearly recall seeing the most interesting-looking Muk cross his Doubles Train. How exciting!
They knew they had to visit at least once.
So, when Elesa invited them to stay with her in Alola while she was doing her summer modeling there, they took the offer.
It’s not like they could go to work when they were temporarily banned from Gear Station anyway.
To say Ingo and Emmet loved their job would be an understatement. It was the best of both of their interests. Even the stacks of paperwork and occasional unruly passengers couldn’t deter them from their career enjoyment.
But, while they might take the odd holiday off here and there, the Nimbasa City audit system had admonished them for not taking any substantial vacation days during their years working at Gear Station.
And so they were here in Alola on forced PTO leave. For a month.
They would need sunscreen. And lots of it.
As they stepped into the frigid air of the shop, the twins let out a simultaneous sigh of relief. Besides trains, surely air conditioning was mankind’s greatest invention.
The clerk at the front of the store welcomed them with a chipper Alola, unable to hold back a small giggle at the display.
They greeted her back, before digging through the racks.
Six pairs of tropical shirts and khaki shorts, 10 bottles of SPF 100, and two pairs of sunglasses later, the twins decided they were sufficiently stocked for the moment.
Tucking his sunglasses into his collar, Emmet turned to Ingo who was busy smoothing down his new red floral-patterned shirt free of wrinkles.
He let out a chuckle under his breath. With the sunglasses now on Ingo’s face alongside his signature frown, he would be even harder for strangers to read.
“Shall we start making our way to the Pokémon League? The clerk said our other purchases would be sent ahead to the hotel. No more detours required.”
Emmet was positively shaking in excitement from the thought. He had wanted to visit Alola primarily for the interesting combinations their Pokémon were sure to face in battle.
“Ah… I had actually planned on visiting the observatory on Mount Hokulani today. I’m sorry, Emmet.”
Emmet blinked.
Ingo… wanted to visit an observatory? He could not recall that being one of Ingo’s interests before. Because they shared the same interests and it certainly wasn’t one of Emmet’s interests.
“An observatory? Where is that?”
“It is on the same island as the League— Ula’ula— but on a different mountaintop. It should be quite fun.”
Emmet’s smile twitched, “Your idea of fun seems verrrrry boring… If we are visiting the same island together, we should also visit the same places on the island together. You are sure you do not want to visit the League instead?”
Ingo tilted his head, “I am quite sure. But, I would be more than happy to visit the League with you at a later date.”
Emmet was at a loss for words and with those stupid sunglasses blocking his brother’s eyes he could not even look for the joke he wanted to see clearly reflected in them.
He was supposed to know Ingo. They were the Subway Bosses.
“But… we are supposed to go together… ”
The sentiment was barely a whisper, but Ingo managed to catch it and the unspoken sentiment behind those few words. He pushed his sunglasses to rest on his forehead, his gaze soft and speech deliberate as he placed a reassuring hand on his brother’s shoulder.
“We are a perfect two-car train, Emmet. Our combination couldn’t be better. But we cannot always travel the same tracks. It is okay if we become uncoupled to try new things. And we can share and learn from those different experiences once we reach our final destination for the day—we share the same home station after all.”
Ingo squeezes his shoulder, the edges of his lips turning up in his best attempt at a smile.
Emmet pouts for a few long moments but acquiesces under his brother’s amusing grimace of a smile. His brother was always trying his best and he would too.
“I will go check out the League instead. You can enjoy the observatory. I will see you at the hotel once we are both finished.”
Emmet said that but still insisted on trekking up the mountain to the observatory with Ingo before parting ways.
Even when he had built himself up to saluting his brother goodbye, it was still difficult to not sync up with his brother as he entered the building and even harder not to dash in after him. The about-face turn was grueling on his nerves along with the first hundred steps back down the mountain.
“I am Emmet. I just need a fun few battles to get my mind off things. We are still Ingo and Emmet. We are still Subway Bosses. And I am Emmet. He is going to his Singles Line and I am going to my Doubles Line. We will meet up after. I am Emmet. I can do this.”
Psyching himself up was easier when put into those familiar terms.
He had done this before, hadn’t he?
He was just running a station with his brother instead of being on vacation. But the formula was the same. He was going to battle separately from Ingo and then he would meet up with him later. A version of the same. And then they would battle together later.
And seeing a local trainer on the upcoming slope proved the perfect distraction from any wayward thoughts to that analogy.
He was Emmet. He was a Subway Boss.
His eyes met the other trainer and they both reached for their first Pokéballs.
---------
Twelve matches down the mountain later, and somewhere along the way Emmet had gotten recognized by a trainer or two…
And now he somehow has a crowd of twenty asking for his autograph and a selfie with him. And many many mannnnny questions about the Battle Subway—  easy to answer— and himself— …much less easy to answer.
Emmet enjoyed his privacy as much as the next person and although he was used to the small celebrity status being a Subway Boss brought, he still did not talk to the press about himself and his personal life. He was a Subway Boss! He was famous because of his job so they should just ask about that. But—
“Are you here with your brother, Ingo? Where is he? Can I get a selfie with him too?”
“Why’d you come to Alola? Do you visit often? How long are you staying?”
“You should try the malasadas! Ooh, you should totally let me show you around!”
Emmet was starting to feel… uncomfortably overwhelmed.
He enjoyed talking with fans, really! But usually, there were not so many surrounding him all at once and he had Ingo there with him and—
“Ingo and I are on vacation!”
The onslaught of questions came to an abrupt stop from Emmet’s work voice. And while his didn’t have the same decibel range as his brother’s, it still carried sharp authority.
In a quieter tone, he continued, “We are taking time off work. I am going to visit the Pokémon League today. Ingo is busy visiting other tourist attractions. Because we are tourists. On holiday.”
Some of the trainers looked a bit chagrin at the reminder that Emmet was off the clock, though others still looked like they wanted to continue their impromptu inquisition.
Still, Emmet pressed onwards.
“It was great to meet you all, but I must press onwards towards my current destination. Thank you for understanding.”
Sharply moving into his point and call pose, he called out his signature “All Abooooooaaard!” to further appease the small crowd of fans, before swiftly making his way down the rest of the mountain.
---------
Emmet’s brow twitched as he looked down at his Xtransiever. He really did not get good signal here in Alola.
He had been trying to pull up the map of the island to see how close the League was, but his GPS seemed confused as to where he was. Emmet was confused as to where he was too.
Sighing softly, he tucked around towards a small alcove beach to think. There had been a Pokémon Center close by, hadn’t there? Maybe he could…
His thought was interrupted by the sound of a sharp whistle and a crash of a wave.
Or Emmet thought it had been a wave. Instead, it had been a Mantine trying to beach itself… and a slim passenger stepping off onto the land before bidding the Pokémon goodbye.
Huh… his hair looked oddly familiar. The slicked back sides reminded him of a pair of Liepard whiskers and— no. Couldn’t be. Right?
But as the man finally turned away from the retreating Mantine, Emmet was sure of it.
“Grimsley? ”
Grimsley turns slowly towards him, taking him in leisurely before his poker face is broken only by a look of honest surprise in his eyes.
“Subway Boss Emmet.”
Grimsley strides towards him purposefully, lips curled into a small smirk, “I hardly recognized you without your uniform. What brings you to Alola?”
Emmet chuckled, smile both easy and relaxed from a familiar face, “I could say the same for you. Your kimono compliments you nicely though. Maybe Ingo and I should have gone for the same.”
Grimsley gives him an appraising look, eyes twinkling mischievously, “I’m not sure. I think the tourist look suits you.”
Emmet grins wider, “Well, that is why we are in Alola– mandatory vacation from the Nimbasa City Council. Ingo and I had too many working hours. They made a strong case of it being a safety hazard.”
That pulls a chuckle out of Grimsley as well, “Somehow I can imagine that being the only argument that would work on you two.”
Emmet nods, eyes crinkled in amusement.
Grimsley lets out a hum, looking to either side of Emmet briefly, “That is another point… it was harder to recognize you alone. Where is your brother, Ingo?”
Emmet’s smile froze and he twitched slightly, silent for a few moments, “He is… at the observatory. He was interested in it. I am on my way to the League.”
Grimsley nodded with another nostalgic chuckle, “You always were the more competitive of you two.”
Emmet’s smile grew tighter, “Mhm… ”
Quickly searching for any change of subject away from his departure from his brother, he latched onto the closest topic, “And you are no longer part of the Unova League, right?”
Grimsley blinked, his smile dropping subtly, eyes quickly narrowing guardingly at Emmet.
“I remember hearing about your resignation, but I did not think you would have retired here,” Emmet continued, oblivious to Grimsley’s withdrawal, “I would have thought you would prefer moving to a bigger city. Like Nimbasa… or even Castelia.”
Grimsley hummed, monotonous in tone, “I’m sure a younger me might have preferred it… But Alola is a nice place to get away from it all.”
Emmet nodded enthusiastically, “Away from the press and prying eyes, yup!”
Grimsley, crossed his arms, “Yes, exactly…” He looked away from Emmet briefly, a crueler echo of a smirk stretching across his face.
“I did resign from the League… it was only a couple of years ago, but it’s been a nice change of pace,” he gestured to the sea where he had bid the Mantine farewell, “I’ve taken up the local sport of Mantine surfing.”
“Mantine surfing?” Emmet chatot-ed back.
Grimsley raised an eyebrow, “Racing on the back of Mantines while avoiding the rough waves. It’s quite popular… and quite fun. People can get quite competitive with it–including me.”
He shot Emmet a dazzling smile to sell his pitch.
Emmet’s eyes sparkled with the idea of a challenge– and a competitive one at that.
Hook, Line, and Sinker.
“It might be fun for you to try. Ingo too. There’s nothing quite like it,” Grimsley’s eyes twinkled with mischief, and Emmet couldn’t help but be captivated by such a novel idea.
“…Feeling the salty splash of the ocean on your face—” he gestured to his own face, smiling wide with open glee.
“…The sun’s rays on your back—,” he gestured this time to Emmet who could not help but match Grimsley’s smile himself.
“…The wind blowing through your… hair.”
Grimsley’s smile stayed in place, though his eyes reflected a more cruel joke. An amusement reflected in them as they drifted conspicuously towards Emmet’s hairline before meeting his eyes again with an easy grin.
Emmet’s smile faltered at the obvious joke.
“You are making fun of me.”
“Making fun of you? Whatever do you mean?” Grimsley faked a look of innocence, “Surely you don’t think I could be so cruel.”
Ah… so it was going to be like that, was it? So be it. A battle of wits is still a battle to be won. And Emmet loved winning more than anything else.
Emmet’s eyes drifted to take in more of the ex-Elite Four member, head tilting to truly consider him. His evaluation and plan of attack had to be perfect.
“No… I think you are enjoying your well-deserved vacation. You are retired after all. You just wanted to suggest a fun activity while I am also on vacation. It was verrrrry thoughtful of you and I am sorry that I mistook your words. Perhaps I am simply still too overworked and on edge because of it.”
Emmet’s smile softened in fake apology as Grimsley considered him.
“No need to apologize… there was no harm done.”
“I am glad to hear that. Perhaps this means I should also seek to relax myself. Your outfit looks very comfortable… and…” Emmet let his eyes pretend to scan the garment with consideration, letting his eyes then drop further down towards his target.
“…You are wearing shoes with it?”
Grimsley raised an eyebrow, head tilting slightly to the side as if to say ‘What of it? ’
“I am.”
Emmet’s eyes met Grimsley’s, piercing blue meeting steely grey as Emmet picked his next words carefully.
“You wear them often at the beach?”
Grimsley’s eyes sparked with curiosity.
“I do.”
“You haven’t considered sandals instead?”
“I have.”
“And you do not wear them? Surely it would be more comfortable. You are already wearing such loose garments.”
A feint. Hopefully, it would not be an obvious one.
Luckily for Emmet, Grimsley fell for it, the gambler’s eyes closing shut as he sighed and shook his head, “Alas, the sand here in Alola gets too hot for a foreigner, even one who has been retired here as long as I have. Sandals just don’t cut it,” he opened his eyes with a smirk, “Though I apologize if the sight ruins your personal preferences.”
Emmet’s smile twitched with barely concealed mirth.
“That is unfortunate. But it makes sense. Ah well…” Emmet could not fight the growing grin on his face as he stared Grimsley down, “At least Marlon will be ecstatic that someone else finally matches his tan line.”
The look of dawning horror was so sweet that Emmet had to take a moment to savor it. The blanch that Grimsley was fighting to keep off of his face was worth any amount of balding jokes. Emmet had won and it was a verrrrrry satisfying victory.
“Well! I should continue my tour of the island before it gets too dark. It was nice to see you again after so long. I may take you up on your offer to Mantine surf at a later date.”
With that, Emmet gave a short and smug salute as he turned to march off triumphantly to his next destination—
“Likewise, Subway Boss Emmet.”
Hm? He was still standing after that crushing blow? Well, he would not outsmart Emmet with his tricks. He stopped in acknowledgment, though he did not turn around to face Grimsley. He looked forward only towards the future battles ahead (and not towards the sore loser behind him.)
“It has been a long time since I’ve seen anyone from Unova, so it was a nice surprise to run into someone from my home region… Oh! And a word of advice—” Emmet’s eyes narrowed in suspicion, “—it’s best to learn how to Mantine surf during low tide. The high tide here in Alola can be very unforgiving and rough for even the most experienced surfers. I’ve had more than my fair share of wipeouts even when riding Sharpedo during them. There are plenty of lifeguards around to help in case of accidents, but I can’t imagine you’d want to be sat up in bed recovering for the main duration of your stay.”
Oh. Maybe he was actually just giving some proper advice this time after all.
Face softening somewhat, Emmet began to turn to face him, mouth opening to express his polite acknowledgment of gratitude—
“—No, it’s best if beginners such as yourself start learning once the water line has fully… receded.”
Fuck you.
Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.
Emmet’s mouth clicked shut into a tight smile before he gave a terse nod and final salute to Grimsley before stomping off to explore the rest of Ula’ula Island. He would get the last laugh. He would, he would, he would. He loved winning more than anything else. He would not lose to Grimsley.

POKEMON INFODUMP TIME so i had a question for a while: why do typhlosion, samurott, and decidueye look different in hisui than in their respective regions in modern times? i’ve put my thoughts and headcanons under the cut, keep in mind all headcanons are fanmade.
HISUI TYPHLOSION:
• Since the space-time distortion appeared above Mt. Coronet, the Typhlosion began acting strangely.
• Apparently the strange energy from this anomaly has infused these Pokemon with a mysterious power, causing them to become part Ghost-type upon evolving.
• Somehow, this power allows Typhlosion to travel between the veil of life and death and guide lost spirits to their eternal rest.
• Due to being able to see the dead, these Typhlosion look zoned out, possibly because they are seeing into two realms at once.
• Sensing the atrocities committed by humans onto the Samurott line, most of the Typhlosion line phased into another plane of existence, shepherding souls to the afterlife when it is their time.
HISUI SAMUROTT:
The Samurott line used to live in colder climates. They had adapted to the Icefields thanks to their blubber, used by humans as an oil and fat in cooking.
• They had longer and thicker whiskers too, used by humans to insulate their blankets and clothing.
• However, due to being hunted to near-extinction, the Samurott line began to migrate to more tropical climates.
• As a result, they lost the need for blubber, and their whiskers became shorter. Their blades and horns have dulled slightly due to them not needing to cut through ice anymore.
HISUI DECIDUEYE:
• The Decidueye line was built for climbing. They had thick legs and arms, and their bones were not hollow, making them unsuitable for flight.
• What they lacked in flight they had in power; a single kick was enough to send someone flying.
• Decidueye in Hisui are dangerous and many travellers have been knocked off of cliffs due to their kicks.
• Their shed down feathers have been used by many to insulate their clothing, and they apparently are better at that than Samurott whiskers. However, Samurott are less dangerous, and gathering their whiskers are less risky if you can subdue them.
• Their quills made excellent writing utensils due to their sharpness. Children would often throw them like paper airplanes to see how far they would fly.

Theres been a lot of talk abt the ethicality behind owning certain pokemon and back and forths abt 'right' vs 'wrong' husbandry for certain types and pokemon species and tbh i think a bigger discussion needs to be had abt individuality of pokemon and their handlers/trainers/owners
Like, nowadays everyone is trying to be THE say all be all about husbandry without understanding that a pokemons home region and parents/upbringing and training make ALL the difference. Not every ice type has the same requirements and even still the requirements from individual to individual vary WILDLY. If i asked someone about the care differences between salt, brackish, and freshwater thriving eiscue THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ANSWER. 99% OF PEOPLE WLD HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IM TALKING ABT
I rlly think ppl just need to like... do their own research instead of asking randos online whove lived in a single region their whole life abt how to care for a tropical non-alolan exeggutor -_-

Public Vs Private Info — Kotone
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Public Info
—What an open book this girl is.
Kotone moved from Hoenn to Paldea at the beginning of the school year on a scholarship program for Uva academy.
Her ancestry is a mix of Johto and Sinnoh.
Her academic focus is in Pokemon breeding. She has a wealth of knowledge that she's ready to share at the drop of a hat.
She's very reckless and can be found in the oddest places around the school and across Paldea. Climbing trees, atop buildings, climbing steep cliffs. No one has ever seen her suffer from injuries related to this.
Her main Pokemon team are incredibly unapproachable with the sole exception being Clodsire.
She has a weird regional variant Cyclizar???
Occasionally she raves with the Segin Squad Team Star Base
She completed her gym challenges and achieved Champion rank in Paldea.
She's been nicknamed a "Murkrow" for her propensity for finding and collecting shiny things.
She's been accepted to Blueberry Academy as an exchange student this Winter and will be traveling abroad.
Semi-Public Info
—What you've heard is only a fraction of the whole story
Kotone was born in Verdanturf on May 27th.
Her mother's side of the family is from Johto — specifically Ecruteak city. Her father's side hails from Solaceon Town, Sinnoh.
Her biggest media influences was watching the Croconaw Hunter and Unovan Ninjask Warrior on TV when she was a kid.
She has a secret base in route 117 back in Hoenn. She accidentally left some of her old toys there.
She has an older sister, roughly 6 years older than her who started her journey in Hoenn. Her sister has since moved on to other regions after seeing all Hoenn had to offer.
Their relationship is okay, but her sister is never not busy and only has time for the occasional phone call here and there.
Her dad is a master electrician who gets work across many different regions setting up pokemon gym equipment and contraptions.
Her mother was not only skilled at handling contests as a Stage Manager, but she also was a very well-respected coordinator in her hayday. Kotone has her stories practically memorized.
Kotone is absolutely neurodivergent - autistic and adhd specifically. She's never been formally diagnosed.
If you're friends with her, she will gift you rare/shiny objects that she finds while adventuring. Expect to find gold nuggets and pearls thrust into your hand.
Private Info
— You need to be at least level 7 friend to unlock my tragic backstory
She was very young when Team Aqua and Team Magma unleashed Groudon and Kyogre on Hoenn. As a result, she gets severe anxiety during tropical storms/floods and hides in her room to wait them out.
The Skitty charm that she carries around on her bag was a gift from her sister. She carries it everywhere for luck.
Kotone was around 4 years old when her sister started her Pokemon journey. Kotone does not have many memories of her from childhood as a result.
Kotone was bullied harshly when she was growing up. Mostly verbally/socially. Rarely did other kids hit her because she would hit back harder. This was something her sister taught her to do.
She has extreme anxiety about the friendships she does have and is very insecure in her relationships, but she's good at hiding this side to her. Usually.
Her parents are unintentionally neglectful due to having intensely busy work schedules.
This is the source for Kotone's reckless behavior and thrill-seeking nature. People pay attention to you when you do stupid shit.
Area Zero fucked her up a lot more than she lets on. Though she appears cheery on the surface, confronting AI Turo (or Sada) and almost dying in the process left her even more anxious and depressed.
She's only kept up the facade to keep her friends from worrying about her too much.
Kotone still goes in and out of Area Zero however because she finds the unique Pokemon there fascinating and spends a lot of time observing them.
She came back from Kitakami with a lot more insecurities regarding her friendships.
Unknown Info
— And so it was lost to time
Kotone is Katsumi's descendant and is affected by the bloodline curse inflicted on their lineage by Giratina.

Why Oneleph’s Printed Designer Trunks and Socks are a Great Addition to Men's Wardrobe?
Boys Boys Boys! Attention Please!
Gentlemen, let's face it – your trunks and socks need your attention!
We get it, these probably may not be the most exciting items in our wardrobe. But, what if I told you that Oneleph's quality designer trunks for men and printed cartoon socks for men are game-changers? Not only are they stylish and comfortable, but they add a fun element to your everyday outfits!
Let's start with the micro modal designer trunks for men.
If you've never heard of micro modal, let me enlighten you. It's a super soft, lightweight fabric that's perfect for underwear. And let me tell you, these trunks are like a cloud for your nether regions. They come in classic colors like black and white, but also in some funky shades like teal and magenta. Plus, they have a sleek, modern design that will make you feel like a million bucks!
Now let's get to the fun stuff – The printed designer trunks for men!
Oneleph has some seriously mind-blowing designs that will add some personality to your underwear wardrobe every day. The "Tropic Thunder" trunks are a cult favorite – they feature a vibrant print of tropical leaves and flowers. It's like having a vacation in your pants (in the best possible way). Another standout is the "Cosmic" design, which has a galaxy print that's quite literally out of this world! (sorry, had to). And the "Miami Vice" trunks have a retro-inspired design that's too cool for any summer!
Not the forget -  Printed cartoon socks for men.
These cutesy designer socks are the perfect way to add some flair to your outfit. Whether you're wearing them with sneakers or dress shoes, they're sure to get noticed. The "Pikachu" socks are a must-have for any Pokemon fan, and the "Sonic" socks are perfect for gamers. But my personal favorite has to be the "Avocado" socks – they're just so damn cute.
So why are printed designer trunks and socks such a great addition to your wardrobe?
They're a fun way to express yourself. Sure, no one else may see them (unless you're changing in the locker room), but you'll know they're there. And let's be real – putting on a pair of trunks with a cool design is a great way to start your day. It's like a little secret that gives you a boost of confidence.
But it's not just about the designs – Oneleph's trunks and socks are also made with quality materials that are built to last. The micro modal trunks are soft, breathable, and durable, while the socks are made with a blend of cotton and spandex that's both comfortable and stretchy. Plus, they're all machine washable, so you don't have to worry about hand-washing or dry-cleaning.
Oneleph's trunks and socks are also practical. The micro modal trunks are breathable and moisture-wicking, which is important if you're someone who sweats a lot. And the socks are perfect for any occasion, whether you're at the gym or at a formal event. Plus, they add a touch of personality to even the most basic outfit.
And let's not forget about the fit. Oneleph's trunks and socks are designed to fit perfectly, so you won't have to deal with sagging or slipping. The trunks have a comfortable waistband that won't dig into your skin, while the socks have a ribbed cuff that keeps them in place.
That being said, if you're looking for a way to upgrade your underwear and sock game, Oneleph's printed designer trunks and socks are the way to go. They're comfortable, stylish, and made with high-quality materials that will last you for years. And with designs like "Tropic Thunder" and "Avocado," you're sure to stand out (in a good way). So what are you waiting for? Upgrade your inner wear and sock game today!

closed starter for @tapuhauko -- 🏖️
It all started with an article. Her tendency to scroll on her phone before bed lead her to a piece of news that caught her eye unlike any other. Poachers - but in Alola. A region on the opposite end of the globe. Most wouldn't even have such a thing on their radar, but Serena having dealt with poachers personally, felt a sinking feeling in her stomach as her eyes skimmed over the text.
There was no way she could get to sleep after reading such a thing. It was spontaneous of her, and she knew it, but within the next couple of hours, she was on a plane to the sunny, tropical region. Alola wasn't her region - she had no stake in it, however she felt she needed to do something. The problem spiraling out of control, and potentially bleeding into other regions, was heavy on her mind. Perhaps some would think she was overstepping. Serena wouldn't disagree with that.
On the plane ride over, she had utilized the plane's internet to do a bit of light research on the various Kahunas of each island. Melemele, from what she read in the article, seemed to be the biggest problem area. The island's Kahuna, Hau, was new to the position from what she had gathered. There had to be something she could do to help him, assuming he was aware of the problem. She'd have to find that out whenever they landed.
The flight felt like it took ages. Serena was incredibly antsy, unable to keep herself from tapping her fingers and messing with her Mega Ring. Finally, finally, the plane had landed. Alola's time was the exact opposite of Kalos'. Where it was nightfall in her own region, the sun hung high in the sky here. Serena was quick to grab her things from the overhead bin, doing a final, quick sweep to ensure nothing was left behind.
There was no time to enjoy the pleasantly warm weather, or to take in the fresh sea breeze. Every moment she took could mean more pokemon were in danger. Her pace to Iki Town was quick, Serena pulling up a map of the island on her phone as she borderline ran to the town. Her heart was pounding out of her chest, not because of the physical exertion, but from adrenaline. As much as she wanted to go straight to the problem, she was still an outsider. Going through the proper channels would be more beneficial, and perhaps Hau would have more information for her than even the article did. After all, there was strength in numbers as well.
Her head whipped around as she entered the small town, her pace slowing just a tad. C'mon... C'mon, he had to be around somewhere- Ah!
Tumblr media
"Excuse me, I'm... so sorry to bother you. This is going to be totally out of the blue, but... you're Hau, the Kahuna of this island?" Serena knew it was a bit bold to be so upfront, but she couldn't be passive in a moment like this. "I- My name is Serena. I'm from the Kalos region, and I saw a recent article about a poaching problem happening here. I know it's not my place to meddle in the affairs of another region," a hand lift to her chest, "but if you would allow me, I would be more than happy to help solve this issue in any way I possibly can. I work in a pokemon conservation in my region as a volunteer - so dealing with poachers is something I'm unfortunately familiar with. I didn't want to overstep my boundaries as an outsider, so I thought it would be better to go through the proper channels instead and speak with someone familiar with the island."
She takes a pause, letting him digest everything. The last thing she wanted to do was let her rambling get the best of her. "I apologize again, I know this is probably really sudden. It's just... something I'm really passionate about putting a stop to. Keeping pokemon and their habitats safe is important to me, so I'd like to help however I can, if you'll allow me."
