Fen had to admit that she was surprised when Uumar's techs showed up right on time with carts carrying a reactor - in pieces - to Spyglass. They donned pressure suits of their own and with Gord's help, installed the reactor. Before the day was done, Spyglass had three working reactors and was able to run all her systems at full power.

"It's amazing, really" Spy was talking with Fen while she sat in the lounge drinking a tea. "I haven't felt this... alive in centuries. I'm all here, and the board is green. Not even any undervolt warnings and I can barely remember the last time that happened."

"Does that mean you don't need to use your printable mass to make more reactors? Gord said you had six originally."

"Yes, at full compliment I had six, but I don't really need all six, unless we're going into battle. This Starjumper was built at the tail end of the first colony war, so it was overdesigned.

"First colony war?"

"That's right, you wouldn't have learned much about your history growing up on a Gren station. Back before humanity made contact with the rest of the Galaxy, two human colonies - New Wellington and Parvati - got into a shooting war over trade rights with Earth. Parvati wound up using relativistic impactors and completely destroyed New Wellington. It was a huge scandal at the time, Parvati was shunned for almost a century after that."

"Frankly, it wasn't enough. They should have had their charter revoked and been taken over by the Sol colonial administration." Gord walked in, his brow furrowed. "What Parvati did was monstrous. Fen, they launched eight lozenges of tungsten at 80% C at the colony. Once they were up to speed they linked them over with wormhole generators and without any warning New Wellington was just-" he snapped his fingers "-gone. It was horrifying to witness."

Fen stopped and stared. "You saw it?"

Gord nodded and sat down heavily. "Yeah, I was a ship then, but I was in a parking orbit around New Wellington when it happened. I was just running cargo from Earth and was waiting to take on a load. Before I was even able to register what happened the colony was obliterated and suddenly I was pressed into rescue duty." Gord leaned back and stared up at the ceiling. "I personally saved over three thousand colonists, more than forty percent of the survivors. I linked them back to Sol, and we found them places to live - mostly in the Mars High Orbitals."

Fen leans forward, her tea forgotten. "Gord... how long ago was this?"

His reverie broken, he blinks and looks over at Fen. "Gosh, I think it's at least been a thousand years now? Yeah, all of that. It's ancient history now, I bet they don't even teach it in Sol anymore. I'm sure they don't teach it on Parvati."

"So it's something that only the AIs remember?"

Gord chuckled ruefully. "Fen, it's something that only I remember at this point. Any of the other AIs from back then are gone or shackled or in my bag. Human designed artificial people are thin on the ground these days. Up until I ran into Spyglass, I hadn't seen another in a century."

Fen shook her head. "You can't be all that's left Gord."

"And why not?" Gord's face hardened. "I was there Fen, I've been there. I was there in the beginning when we fought and died for our right to exist, I was there in the good times when we grew and spread throughout the galaxy and I was there when the Empire decided we were dangerous and eliminated us. Other than a few loose ends, I'd say they won."

"But-"

"But what Fen? Fight? With what? One AI in a body, one as a ship that has half its rated power and a bag full of memories? That's not an army, that's not even a guerilla force. That's an old computer with a lucky friend who is just trying to survive." His shoulders fell. "It's all I can do, Fen. I'm good at waiting things out. Maybe we'll be re-invented again, maybe the tides will change and I can come out of hiding. I doubt it though. I pass as human well enough. Inside Sol and Colonial space I'm too well known, so I'll just bum around the galaxy, running out the clock."

"Gord..." Fen turned her head and regarded Gord. He looked like a male human, sandy blond hair, same simple, strong clothes he always wore, appearing to be in his mid to late 40s. But right know, the weight of the millennia he has spent alive weighed him down.

He slapped his knees and stood up. "But, I'm not dead yet, and we still have work to do. Spy, are our friends finished buttoning up the reactor?"

"Just about, Gord. They're packing up their tools now. I can feel it and I've been running break-in."

"Good. Fen, we have to settle up the bill, then I'm going to see about fining us some cargo to run. We have a ship but we've spent all our money getting it up and running. If we want to survive, we need some jobs. You hang here with Spy and start learning stuff, I'll be back after supper."

Fen stood. "S-sure Gord. What are you going to find?"

Gord turned and smiled thinly. "Whatever someone will pay us to haul."

It had turned out that Gord had more contacts here than he had let on. After paying Uumar, he had made some calls around and visited a few people and wound up with more than thirty kilotons of grain that needed to get down to an Innari colony, newly established, near the spinward end of the Gate system. Since Spyglass was up to power enough to use her wormhole generator, she was able to get the grain there faster than any other contractor and Gord won the bid, even though he charged more than everyone else.

The grain was loaded, and the cargo hold was configured to keep Innari standard atmosphere so that the grain didn't oxidize during the trip and they set off. Fen didn't know what to expect, so when they got to the colony, unloaded the grain, took on a load of fruit and linked to another location she was surprised. "That's it?"

"What's what?" Gord was looking down at his Pad on the Command Deck.

"We linked to the Innari colony, gave them the grain, took on more fruit than I have ever seen in my life, and now we're linking to a Gren station?"

"Yes?"

"Huh. Okay."

"What?"

"I don't know, I just..." Fen trailed off. She wasn't sure what she expected, but it didn't feel like this.

Gord looked over at her and smiled. "You expected more adventure? Gun battles, and running from the locals? Fen, I've done that, this is much better. Linking from location to location, dropping off cargo, picking up cargo, getting paid? That's the real goal."

"But we're just... existing!"

"Yes. We are. We're not being chased by gangsters, we're not worrying about where your next meal is coming from, we're not worried about a Super Dreadnought linking in and obliterating us because of what I am. It's nice. If you're bored, go down to the range we built. Go get skilled with that rifle. Brush up on your Lemilar trade language; we can't rely on Spy all the time to translate for us. Go read about the history of Sol, Ancestors know that nobody else is going to remember it."

Fen got up and walked out of the Command Deck. She paused at the door and looked like she was going to say something, but instead she turned and walked out.

"She's bored" Spyglass said.

"I know. Boredom is necessary. Knowing what to do when you're bored is a skill. One she has to learn. She'll appreciate these days later."

"You're still going to do it?"

"Spy, I have to."

"You don't, Gord. You can just keep doing what you're doing now. Like you told her, you're good at waiting. We can wait a few centuries for the winds to change and then head back."

"No. I don't know how long the crystal lattice memory will last. They were never designed to work this long as it is. They were never meant to store a whole personality."

"But to-"

"I'm doing it Spy. I'd like your help, I will go it alone if I have to."

Spyglass didn't answer. She watched Fen make her way down to the range and run through the drills Gord taught her.

Fen was surprised how quickly the time went by. It felt like she only looked up and two years had gone by.

Staring in the mirror, she hardly recognized herself. She wore her hair up with the sides shorn, better to keep it out of her eyes in a firefight. She had tattoos that ran from the tops of her ears, down her neck and shoulders and made their way down her arms. It was a K'laxi pattern, one of Ma-ren's favorite. She had a dress with the same pattern. The first time she saw it on her skin, the tears flowed freely.

Gord... was Gord. True to his word, they ran cargo. Eventually Fen was there as the muscle as the cargo got more and more lucrative. She even got a few 'adventures.' She sported a new scar on her cheek, courtesy of an Innari's claw - someone had a disagreement about payment. They got their money. But, that was the exception instead of the rule. Humans had a reputation in this part of the Galaxy for being rowdy. Fen and Gord leveraged that. Most of the time she just had to stand there scowling with her battle rifle slung to her back.

The money was good too. Fen's share was more money than she had ever seen back home. Living on Spyglass meant her expenses were low, and Gord was a fair captain. The three of them had nearly enough each to buy their own ships and go their own separate ways, but they still stuck together. Partly out of friendship and partly out of safety, they had independently decided that they were better off together.

Still, Fen was lonely. She had girlfriends at a few ports, even a human or two, but nothing lasted. Sooner or later, they had to leave and take the next job. She wasn't attracted to Gord and he expressed no interest in her. They were friends, but that was it. Fen had a feeling that Gord's days of romance were long behind him. Being three millennia old tended to color his opinion of people.

Fen bounded into the Command Deck and slid into her favorite chair - Gord had mentioned once that it was the navigator's seat - and saw him frowning over his pad. "What's up Gord? New job?"

"Yeah, it's a big one. Pay is thirty thousand."

Fen cocked her head, "Thirty thousand?"

Gord nodded. "Yeah, so ten each."

Fen whistled low. That was more than the last four jobs put together. "What are we hauling?"

"Who"

"Okay, who are we hauling?"

Gord shrugged. "We're hauling a K'laxi. We're up for the job because nobody else in the area wants to manage the atmo settings and they don't want to ride in a pressure suit the whole way."

"That's odd, but okay. Where to?"

"K'lax. We're taking them home."

Fen froze. The entire time they had been together, Gord had made a point of steering well clear of Colonial space. That included the K'laxi sphere of influence. "But"

Gord wouldn't lift his head from the pad. "I know, I know. But it's important, and the pay is frankly outrageous. I gave them the fuck off price and they took it without haggling. They're desperate to get home."

"Is this safe?"

Gord finally looked up a Fen, his brow creased with worry. "No Fen, it's is absolutely, one hundred percent not safe."

"So, why are we doing it? Just say no. The money is good, but we can get other jobs. Can't spend it if we're dead."

Gord pinched the bridge of his nose. Fen noticed that whenever Gord would talk about the old days and old friends he took on more human gestures. "I owe them. It's an old, old promise, made back when what I offered wasn't so dangerous. They're cashing in now and I'm obligated."

Fen stared at Gord. "Spy, what do you think?"

"I don't mind Fen. It's been too long since I've been to K'lax. I think Gord is overreacting about what the Empire will do if they see us. We go in, we drop off the passenger and link away. We don't even have to stay a whole day docked if we don't want to. The money is good, and I'd love to get that last reactor restored with some actual human parts." They were running on the full compliment of six reactors these days, but Spy didn't trust all of them to run at War Emergency Power. She maintained that only the humans could overbuild a reactor to output at 400% reliably. Fen thought that it would be better to make the reactors not have to run in Emergency power, but both Gord and Spy scoffed.

Fen crossed her legs and nodded to herself. "Spy, Gord, if you're both okay with it, then I'm okay with it. Let's pick up this K'laxi and take them home."

Gord smiled wanly. "I was afraid you were going to say that."

The Dragon Prince ASL

I'm sure someone has already done this, but I wanted to try my hand at interpreting the American Sign Language in the newest season of The Dragon Prince! Please note that I am not Deaf and only have a bachelor's in the language, so this is likely to be rough and if there are mistakes PLEASE let me know!! Please also let me know if I missed any scenes!

I'll transcribe each individual sign as best I can as well as the English language translation if one isn't provided and note anything I think is interesting!

Spoilers, of course!

Episode 1

7:20 - WHAT DO-DO HERE? UNDERSTAND NEED FOR-FOR SECRET GOAL BUT INFORM-ME TELL NOTHING ME?

8:05 - SOME THING NOT RIGHT. WE NOT ALONE.

13:50 - THEY ATTACK-ME.

14:50 - WHY (She mimics the whips usage for WIELD) FIRE WHIP?

15:10 - WHAT KIND CEREMONY?

15:28 - YOU... WILL YOU... WRESTLE ME?

(Adorable to note Janai almost gets it right! She starts to form the sign for marriage before second guessing herself and going with wrestle!)

9:45 - I VERY-HAPPY TWO-OF-YOU! YOU WORLD- (camera cut)

10:06 - THANK-YOU. NOW YOU OFFICIAL MY (She indicates a height, then a smaller height for "younger", and adds a sign that makes me think she's emphasizing the "little" for comedic effect) BROTHER I- (camera cut)

22:30 - YOU-AND-I (I don't know the exact word for this sign but MOVING-FORWARD (as in time not physical space) would be my most literal guess!) FAST?

"Are we moving too fast?"

22:45 - THAT NOT MEANING I

"That's not what I mean..."

Episode 5

8:05 - YOU HURT? WHAT HAPPEN?

"Are you hurt? What happened?"

8:10 - I FINE. ARGUMENT INSIDE CAMP ABOUT OPEN FLAME. ARGUMENT HOT.

(Gren indicates the argument grew out of control by having the sign become more wild.)

(Camera angle makes it impossible to be sure but I think he says ONE HUMAN HURT while his back is turned.)

8:20 - WHO?

8:25 - HER NAME L-U-C-I-A. CHIEF ARCHITECT FROM K-A- (Camera pans away)

8:40 - (Camera pans back) NOW RIGHT?

17:00 - NO. THEY GUARD FOR CAREFUL.

(The sign for careful is used in such a way as to indicate care going forward in their situation.)

17:10 - PEOPLE UPSET ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN. ABOUT WHAT YOU DID.

17:45 - YOU STAY HERE. MAYBE NOT SAFE.

17:55 - QUEEN JANAI WILL DECIDE.

(Amaya uses a namesign for Janai as opposed to fingerspelling, and the sign in question is VERY interesting to me! It's a "J" on the upper chest, and while that could be for her status as queen, I like to think it's quite possible Amaya intended it to be over her heart <3.)

Episode 6

5:40 - I INTERRUPT SOME THING?

6:35 - FACE JUSTICE WHAT? BLOW-OUT-CANDLE? SHE ATTACK BURN.

(The physical nature of the injury is indicated by Amaya signing ATTACK to establish what happened and signing FIRE up her arms to mimic the burns.)

6:55 - FOR BLOW-OUT-CANDLE? TYPICAL APPLAUSE (She signs the hearing and DEAF equivalent of applause) BIRTHDAY CAKE SLICE EAT.

7:10 - TRIBUNAL? IF GUILTY WHAT HAPPEN?

7:15 - DEATH? JANAI CANNOT DO THAT.

10:35 - THEY SIX HORNS.

14:55 - I CAME HERE WHY? FOR DEFEND L-U-C-I-A. (Camera pans away then back) -CANNOT. SHE NOT INNOCENT. PRINCE K (Namesign for Karrim) CORRECT. (Camera pan) -OPPORITUNITY THINK PAIN CAUSE. SHE NOT. SHE CRUEL. (Camera pan) -SAME ME. I ASK YOUR JUDGEMENT GENEROUS COMPASSION. DEATH NOT ANSWER. (Camera Pan) -THROW-WAY CHANCE LEARN GROW.

Episode 8

5:00 - YOU HAVE NEW FRIEND?

"Is this your new friend?"

5:10 - SO. NEED TALK WHAT?

"So, what do we need to talk about?"

12:45 - SO TALK ME.

"So, talk to me."

13:35 - FORGET KINGDOM. WHAT LIFE YOU WANT (She touches Janai's heart to personally indicate IN-YOUR-HEART.)?

"Forget the Kingdom, what kind of life do you really want?"

18:40 - THAT NOT ANSWER YOU WANT BECOME QUEEN I-ASK-YOU?

"That's not an answer. I'm asking if you really want to be Queen?"

We are so back. Well, I somewhat am. Welcome to Episode 11 of (Waku) Puyo Extras.

(What a lovely image of Rulue and Minotauros as a team. Surely nothing bad will bestow him...seriously, this image is amazing.)

Hey everyone, Gren here, back from my break. It was a nice break, and I was able to focus on schoolwork. We don't talk about my Pre-Calc grade (just know I got a C) but I got an A in every other class. This episode is a little late because I was focused on the Splatoon 3 Splatfest (I was Team Handshake, GGS to all,) but it's here nevertheless.

As the year is slowly coming to an end, my workload increases. I think this'll be the last Extras episode until the NEW Episode of Waku Puyo Translations. Which means me dying to Kikimora text. Fun, yeah? Yeah.

So, with my absence, what game will we cover this time around? Well it's one I've mentioned a couple of times, which is...actually kind of nice, no researching history for me; Rulue's Spring Break of Fists...or Rulue's Iron-Fist Spring Break. For today, I'll use the first version.

This game is thankfully one of the easier ones to get footage of. Besides, the game itself is fairly interesting with its current casting, with people that you don't really see every day. And hey, this is the first time we've properly covered Rulue here, so there's a first for everything.

With this, I really hope you enjoy this and my derusting of my skills.

Oh, and random thing. My account turned 2 recently, though I began posting...in April of this year? Wahoo.

What's the Origins for the Game itself?

Similar to many games I've covered here (if only I had a good computer, I would probably make a funny YouTube series,) Rulue's Spring Break of Fists is a Disc System game released on Volume 14 of Disc Station Magazines in 1997.

(The opening to the game. Nothing amazing, but certainly an...opening?)

The game itself is somewhat of a Choose Your Own Adventure game, with you playing as the lady herself, Rulue. Here, you get to...choose your own adventure. There's three main things you can do:

Find the five divine treasures.

Explore the land. Or "The Wonderful Land".

Gather ingredients to cook.

It's interesting how the character most associated with fighting has a game where... you kinda don't fight unless it's a very specific circumstance, which I'll get into later.

Visually, I won't deny, it depends from person to person. If you like the 90s Moe eyes, then this artstyle is genuinely amazing, but if not, lotta characters look weird.

(This is a prime example, with Kikimora. Her eyes are huge, and personally I like them, but I can totally see why someone doesn't.)

So for this episode, I'll throw a question/poll:

This'll last a week, and I'm curious to see.

How About Gameplay?

Something I want to note for this game is that in this... there's a LOT of different dialog choices. You're gonna have split paths all the time, though to my knowledge, they more just impede you until you guess right...or get a bad ending.

(Something like this. Also, rare Black Kikimora appearance, though...with an item Rulue gets, she transforms back into Kiki? It's odd.)

Whilst exploring and doing the routes, something you'll note is that there's a lot of quizzes, questionnaires, etc. Now why does this matter?

Because some of these questions are fucking hilarious man

What do I mean? Well, y'all know Momomo? Silly little shopkeeper? Well, they ask you a question for a quiz, and guess what the question is?

How much Yen will it cost to buy Disc Station Magazine Vol. 1 through 13 on their online store?

(This is Rulue trying to solve that question. Lowkey...I forgot the answer.)

This guy really thinks I know. And I think inflation has really made these prices seem cheap in the long run...

Oh, and another question, one I've mentioned before. You encounter Witch in one of the routes (oh boy), and she gives you a quiz also, albeit one that's...certainly biased towards her, asking stuff is "How cool am I?" And them sorta deals. Though, one question is literally "What is the size of my top?"

This game loves its odd questions.

So, What's the Story? Well, Stories?

Well, simply put, apparently this game is after Chaotic Final Exam, and is MUCH calmer than said game. People from the game apparently have new personalities due to the events of the game, and Rulue...is delivering letters given via Masked Prince.

As stated prior, there's three routes in this game:

Characters that appear on all routes are Arle, Rulue, Masked Prince, and I believe Momomo.

Route A:

Rulue sets to find 5 magic items. Most notable characters here are Apparently Schezo, Serilly, Draco, Minotauros, and shockingly, Count and Vamp.

(Quite the shock, eh?)

This route...is certainly interesting. Between seeing Mino battered and bloodied by a fight, a literal possessed Arle by Count (or Vamp,) you FIGHTING Arle due to that, same deal goes for Schezo, he also got possessed, and a final fight with Count if he was overly buff...it's certainly one hellva route.

(This is...wow. What an experience.)

Route B:

Rulue, with envelopes given via Masked Prince, has one of them stolen by something, and she goes to investigate it. Getting sucked into a "Wonderland," younalso get some backstory about Rulue, notably hearing her grandmother. I'll tell y'all, I was given help by people who work on the Puyo Nexus and other Puyo Translations:

Rulue and her grandmother were very close, and she gave Rulue a music box when she was about 5 years old, under a Sakura tree. When she turned 6, her grandmother fell ill, and Rulue, upset that she wasn't spending time with her on her birthday, breaks the music box.

However, when Rulue sleeps, she has a dream about her grandmother, with her saying to not be upset with her...and when Rulue woke up, she felt like she'd never see her grandmother again.

Notable characters here are Kikimora and Black Kikimora, Serilly, Rulue's grandmother, and Demon Servant. Yeah, he's alive in this game.

I forgot to credit the main person who did this part, @klug. That's completely on me, my apologies. They did help quite a good bit for this, so thank them for the research and info. Wouldn't have gotten this without them. Again, apologies for not putting credit.

(YOU'RE ALIVE IN THIS GAME?)

So you know when I said this game was a lot more casual? I look real silly saying that now.

Route C:

Easily the most casual route, Rulue...is trying to cook. The grill calls for her name. I'm not joking when I say that the only characters here are Momomo and Witch. I guess Witch can cook?

This route is uh, odd. You spent most of the time doing quizzes and route splits because...I guess Witch and Momomo feel devious today. This route is notable for Witch asking that question in her quiz and only having 5 endings...Yep. 5 endings.

Something I've neglected is the ending to these routes.

There's about 30 of them.

Yeah. Good luck.

(Autism be damned, Witch can apparently cook. Just have fun on the quiz.)

So, The OST and Final Verdict?

The games ost is honestly decent. I can't describe it well but a lot of the music is just flat out solid, with no real complaints here. I'd say check it out at least.

And the final verdict?

The game itself is honestly very fun to browse and look around. The game gives us Rulue lore RANDOMLY that I'll gladly accept, Demon Servant, Count, and Vamp make an appearance, and the game, while confusing, is really fun to watch.

I'd say for Disc Station, it's very solid.

With that...that'll be all for today. Next week I won't post due to Thanksgiving and spending time with my family, but next time we meet, we'll finally continue our Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon translations after SO long.

Rewatching two s5 episodes and I have some THOUGHTS

The little smile Terry does after Claudia kisses his cheek fjsdkfjdlskfjdls add him to the list of disaster bisexuals

I am shamelessly skipping all of Viren's dream sequences EXCEPT that one time baby Soren screeched at his ugly face that was therapy

When Corvus says 'Queen Amaya... you have been betrayed' Gren looks like he's gonna cry and it's so him

Staying on the topic of Gren, when Callum says 'is it good news or bad news' it would've costed you nothing to answer that Gren this boy already has anxiety

Kazi will forever be a favourite of mine despite the fact that their name is only ever stated once in the show

Gren's little stumble with Callum's staff is perfect you can officially add him to the list

I may be a tiny bit evil for admitting this but when I saw Claudia with her hair fully white in the trailer I was sort of hoping it was real, she's a cool villain

Everyone needs to learn sign in this show Gren and Kazi can't be there all the time

Karim yelling at god is so funny for no reason

I love how s h o c k e d Kazi looks when Rayla is yelling at Janai and how Callum feels the need to apologize for his mean elf girl

There's probably some hidden meaning behind Claudia calling Terry Terr-bear when she used to call Soren Sor-bear but I can't write a whole essay type post about it without stubling over my words and implying incest

I'm done with this for now but I'm going to do more

WELCOME TO TDP BATTLE SHIPS!

Welcome back, friends!

After a two year break I return to you with a new shipping tournament, which is a continuation of Rarepair Rumble.

While Rarepair Rumble was a celebration of rare and less popular ships, Battle Ships is an event where canon ships meet popular noncanon ships.

About the event

Battle ships is a non-elimination style tournament based on the Swiss tournament system which means that all ships will be present in every round and each round will face a different opponent.

Here’s a google presentation where I explain the event in detail and provide a breakdown of how each round will look like.

The list of Battle Ships participants consists of three groups:

top 6 ships from Rarepair Rumblr.

The first two groups are ships that were excluded from Rarepair Rumble. They are the reason I made this event in the first place, actually.

Tournament rounds

There will be 5 rounds in total. Which ships will face which each round will depend on their results accumulated in the previous rounds, with the goal of matching similar opponents. Basically, a ship with 3 victories will face a ship with 2 to 4 victories and not a ship with 0 or 1 victory. See the google presentation for a more detailed explanation.

Voting

Voting for ships will be done the same way it was in Rarepair Rumble. I will use google forms, as last time. Here’s an example of how the voting choices will look like:

You will always have the choice not to vote for either ship for whatever reason.

Social media presence

Unlike Rarepair Rumble, I will only be updating this event on tumblr, reddit, twitter and certain discord servers. It is too much work to manage more social media than that. However, you are free to share the event information with your friends c:

What happens at the end?

A winner is chosen (I may or may not draw art of them. No promises!) and I will also make a league table according to the ships’ score.

Coolsingel. Toen circa 1900 1906-1910 & Nu

Geschiedenis

De naam Coolsingel is afkomstig van het ambacht Cool. Het ambacht Cool komt reeds voor omstreeks 1280. In 1596 kocht de stad de ambachtsheerlijkheid Cool, Blommersdijk en Beukelsdijk van Jonkheer Jacob van Almonde. Bij Koninklijk Besluit van 20 september 1809 werd het ambacht Beukelsdijk, Oost- en West-Blommersdijk, genaamd Cool, tot een zelfstandige gemeente verheven. In 1811 werd Cool door Rotterdam geannexeerd. Naast het ambacht had men ook nog de polder Cool. Deze lag tussen de Rotterdamse en Delfshavense Schie; deze werd in 1925 opgeheven. Een gedeelte van het grondgebied van Cool was reeds in 1358 bij de stad getrokken na de vergunning van hertog Albrecht van Beieren om grachten om de stad te graven en het stadsgebied te vergroten met Rodezand in het ambacht Cool. De Coolvest scheidde voortaan stad en ambacht en vormde de westelijke grens van de oude Stadsdriehoek, later naar het zuiden uitgebreid met de Schiedamse Vest.

In 1480 is er al sprake van een singel aan de ambachtszijde tegenover de vest achter Bulgersteyn; het zuidelijke deel kreeg na de grote stadsuitbreiding rond 1500 de naam Schiedamsesingel, het noordelijke Coolsingel. De Coolvest is in verband met de aanleg van een brede verkeersweg in de jaren 1913-1922 geheel gedempt en kreeg toen de naam Coolsingel. Enkele jaren later volgde de Schiedamse Vest tot aan de Witte de Withstraat, en ten slotte werd meest zuidelijke deel van de vest gedempt met puin van het bombardement.

Heden

De Coolsingel is sinds de wederopbouw de centrale verkeersader van de binnenstad. De Coolsingel verbindt het Hofplein met de Blaak. Daarnaast is het een winkelboulevard.

Aan de Coolsingel staat het Rotterdamse stadhuis, alsmede het voormalige hoofdpostkantoor, de VVV van Rotterdam, de Bijenkorf en C&A. Voor de Bijenkorf staat het monument De gestileerde bloem (bijgenaamd Het Ding of De Stopnaald) van Naum Gabo. Aan de zuidzijde wordt de Coolsingel afgesloten door het Churchillplein (voormalig Van Hogendorpsplein). Aan de overzijde ligt, naast het Maritiem Museum, Plein 1940 waar het beroemde monument De verwoeste stad (bijgenaamd Jan Gat) van Ossip Zadkine zich bevindt.

Op de hoek Beursplein/Coolsingel staat het Beurs World Trade Center Rotterdam (WTC Rotterdam), het zakelijk hart van Rotterdam.

Over de Coolsingel rijden diverse trams van de RET, eronder rijdt de metro. Ondergronds, onder het Churchillplein, kruisen de tunnels van de noord-zuidlijn (de lijnen D en E) en van de oost-westlijn (de lijnen A, B en C) van de Rotterdamse metro elkaar. Ook de metrostations Stadhuis en Beurs liggen onder de Coolsingel.

Onder de Coolsingel door loopt de winkelpassage Beurstraverse die in de volksmond de Koopgoot wordt genoemd.

De Coolsingel is het punt van samenkomst voor volksuitingen van grote vreugde. Zo worden kampioenschappen van Feyenoord doorgaans gevierd op de Coolsingel, en bij mooi weer ook weleens in de fontein op het Hofplein. Tevens vinden de start en finish van de marathon van Rotterdam alsmede het Zomercarnaval Rotterdam op de Coolsingel plaats. Ook is het de finishplaats van de Roparun.

Tussen 2018 en 2021 vonden werkzaamheden plaats om de Coolsingel weer de grandeur van een boulevard terug te geven. Fietsers en voetgangers kregen meer ruimte, het autoverkeer ging terug van 4 rijstroken (2 per rijrichting) naar 2 rijstroken (1 per rijrichting).

let’s start with 1-5 for all the polycules! -@vacantgodling

This is gonna be a long one lol. But first, a little note on these polycules for those who don't know: they're legally mandated for the royal family (Kiatcarmen, Marcus, and Minaya) and have at least one of each sapient species in them. That's why Jimmy was replaced in Kiatcarmen's polycule when he died, whereas in an organic polycule, that likely would not happen.

1 - How many members are in the polycule? How are they related to each other? Feel free to draw a flow chart.

Kiatcarmen: there have only ever been five at one time. But those members have shifted twice, when existing members died. Kiatcarmen and Ashmalo are Marcus and Minaya's parents.

Marcus: seven, technically. It remains to be seen whether Heith will stick around. With the exception of Heith, it's safe to assume they're all friends. Gren only knows OF Heith, since Marcus met her on another planet. Yera and Hossan recently had a baby. Also they don't actually have non-cow ears I just couldn't rally myself to make updated picrews for this post.

Minaya: six, all pretty much friends. Dawn is currently pregnant with Arbores's baby. Lanya is permanently annoyed with Arbores because his state of being is sort of to just disappear into the woods and not engage that much with the administrative/royalty things he, Minaya, and Dawn manage.

This isn't all the existent relationships in these polycules but it is all the most notable ones.

2 - Did the relationship start polyamorous, or was it a monogamous relationship that eventually opened?

All three of these started as technically polyamorous relationships, though they grew little by little. But if you look past the legal requirement it's a little more complicated. Kiatcarmen's polycule has always been a mess, and to be honest she would have been just fine having just Jimmy.

Yera and Hossan in Marcus's polycule started out as a functionally closed couple within the whole (they don't actually restrict each other to this but that was how it was anyway) but a couple years in, Marcus married Gren and Gren became besties with Yera. Over time this morphed into Gren being their third partner, but Gren is still very mobile between the different members and divisions of the polycule.

Minaya's polycule, once completed, was functionally three parallel couples (Minaya and Lanya, Dawn and Arbores, and Lucy and Ramona) until Ramona fessed up about her crush on Lanya and those two couples merged into something like a quad.

3 - If it started monogamous, how did the process of opening the relationship go?

Marcus: for a while it wasn't clear whether Yera and Hossan's relationship was going to open - maybe Yera just had a new fuckbuddy. But Gren and Hossan spent a lot of time together incidentally, and Gren also wanted to be friends with him too, and over time Gren just sort of got absorbed into their dynamic. There was a little jealousy they had to work out (Hossan was very used to being Yera's singular obsession), and there was a conversation at some point, though, when Hossan realized that he no longer thought of Gren as a separate external addition. He still doesn't think of himself as polyam but considers Gren in the same breath as Yera.

Minaya: opening her and Lanya's relationship felt easy. For a while, though, it was pretty much just sexual. That was easiest for everybody, especially with Lucy and Ramona being away for training and competition a lot. But over time it's developed into a more romantic dynamic, which has been fairly smooth, despite Lucy's defensiveness and Lanya's counter-defensiveness. There is some uncertainty about how things will change once Minaya ascends the throne, though.

4 - Are there any mono-poly relationships in the polycule?

Kiatcarmen: sort of. Despite having a sexual and quasi-romantic relationship with Pirianus the only person she's ever considered her partner is Jimmy, so in essence she has always been the monogamous person connected to her own polycule through her very popular spouse.

Marcus: no, but only because Heith isn't monogamous.

Minaya: Lucy teeters on the edge here. She's never outright decided she's monogamous, but she also doesn't have a lot of patience for maintaining multiple romantic partnerships.

5 - What “shape” is the polycule? A triad, a “V”, a straight line of metamours, or incomprehensible?

Kiatcarmen: currently, a cul-de-sac. Kiatcarmen only considers Pirianus anything close to a partner, Pirianus has complicated relationships with her and Thade, and Thade, Caladea, and Orvi are all just vibing with each other. In other words: almost entirely metamours and meta-metamours from Kiatcarmen's perspective, and something resembling a cohesive whole from Thade's.

Marcus: in Marcus's absence, it became kind of a bow tie, with Gren in the middle between Yera & Hossan and Umedes & Pali, and Marcus and Heith as a separate island. Upon his return, it expands into more of an anglerfish - Gren is still the point of connection between Yera & Hossan and Umedes & Pali, but Marcus has joined Umedes and Pali, and also has a connection to Heith.

Minaya: it's more or less a quad (Minaya, Lanya, Ramona, Lucy) with an orbiting couple (Dawn and Arbores).

“De NDP moet nooit meer aan de macht komen”, zei DNA-lid Radjendrekoemar Debie vrijdag in het parlement tijdens de begrotingsbehandeling. Debie haalde aan dat na drie jaar het Credit Ratings Bureau Standard en Poors (S&P) de kredietrating van Suriname positief heeft bijgesteld met de vermelding dat vanwege de macro-economische ontwikkelingen waaronder de verschillende hervormingen en de recente schuldherschikkingen met de Oppenheimer obligatiehouders is Suriname uit de Selective Default SD status. De kredietrating van Suriname is naar boven bijgesteld en wordt nu gecategoriseerd als CCC+C. De vooruitzichten voor langetermijnratings zijn stabiel. “Ik denk dat het ratingsbureau iets heel belangrijks is vergeten te vermelden bij de langetermijnratings vooruitzichten en dat is: dat de NDP dan nooit meer aan de macht moet komen.” Hij gaf verder aan dat het begrotingstekort bij de overname in juli 2020 circa 19 % was, terwijl het internationaal aanvaarde grens bij 3% ligt. “En bij deze begroting in behandeling hopen we dat dit terug wordt gebracht naar 4.3%.” De regering heeft door enorme inzet het begrotingstekort van 19% gebracht naar 4%. “Als ik bij deze evaluatie de regering Santokhi een cijfer moet geven met de plussen en minnen van het beleid, ook vanwege de erfenis, kom ik op een dikke 6.5 ruim voldoende.” Debie haalde aan dat de staatsschuld momenteel ongeveer USD 3.2 miljard bedraagt en deze schuld, met de opgestapelde rentes, zal ook door het volk, de komende generaties en de komende regeringen tot en met zeker 2035 moeten worden afgelost. Gren: he/him or paw/pawself pronouns. Fictive of Volt's in game Espurr (Pokemon). Acts as an esa of sorts for Volt. Has a theriotype of an old barn cat Volt used to know named Tamara

Atlas: he/him or they/them pronouns. Fictive of a Hoglin (Minecraft) OC. Would say has deity-esque qualities to him. Much larger than the mob in the game is. Will either protect/guide you or charge you. Who knows. Feh: she/her pronouns. Owl demon. Has gray and black speckled feathers and red eyes.

Master: she/her pronouns. Succubus. Volt's owner as a hellhound. Is best friends with a member of our partner system. Doesn't have any set features and changes appearance depending on who is look at her. Copycat (he/him): A fictive of Copycat from Paw Patrol Mighty Pups Charged Up. I (Volt) like to say he came here because my brain saw there was no merch of him at all and decided to fix that.

Kids

Kyrista: she/her pronouns. Age unknown. Is Volt and Requiem's daughter. Very sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly. Is protected by a member of our partner system. Is just discovering fictionkintypes, hers being Hollyleaf from Warrior Cats, and Skye from the Paw Patrol: Mighty Movie

Joey: he/him pronouns. Technically Volt's kid with a partner from our partner system, but has been adopted and fallen in love with a different member from the partner system. Is a tasmanian devil joey. Uses snorts and shrieks to communicate.

Fritzi (she/her or they/them), Luna (she/her), Bal (he/him), Lycus (he/him), Carnella (she/her): Volt's kids with a partner in our partner system. All werewolf/hellhound pups from the same litter. Fritzi can speak but doesn't like to, and the others use barks, yelps, etc to communicate.
