Dmitry Bivol beats Canelo Alvarez on the cards!
Yeah, 115-113 was nowhere near wide enough. Canelo lost bad.
Bivol fought the smart fight. Sharp with the jab. Touching around the high guard when Canelo tried to pressure instead of loading up with big single shots.  Did what I’ve been waiting for someone to do on Canelo since the GGG fight and take the center of the ring. Canelo’s old gas tank issues showed up big in the middle rounds and never really went away. It’s one thing to control the pace of the fight with aggression. Another thing when the other guy is controlling how fast the fight is moving. And the biggest question mark heading into this was could Canelo hurt Bivol. The answer was no. Canelo landed through and around the guard, especially early. But Bivol was too sturdy.
Bivol is elite. More people should have shown dude respect. Hopefully we get the Artur Beterbiev fight, though I doubt it.

Upset in Vegas! Dmitry Bivol beat Canelo Alvarez via clear unanimous decision last night to retain his light heavyweight title. He wore a black and burgundy set, with BIVOL spelled out in individually boxed letters across his waistband. He had matching (if slightly darker) Grant gloves and matching footwear. Solid and understated look. Canelo broke out one of his pink looks (he’ll break out purple or pink here and there, as he did for Cotto and Yidrim). He had matching footwear and Cleto Reyes gloves. The trunks contrasted well with each other, but otherwise can’t say this is my favorite set for Canelo. Entertaining fight and the judges got it right, which is refreshing to say.

Well, since this is going to be the topic of discussion for the next few weeks, I figured I might as well chime in and give my opinion as well. I for sure do not think that Canelo should immediately go back down to 168 lbs. I personally believe that he should instead his take his time and grow into the 175 frame and continue to chase greatness. He didn't get knocked down, or out, neither was he hurt extremely badly. The fight was very competitive and back and forth. And even at the post fight press conference. Canelo and his team believe they won. As fans and analysts we tend to hold our hero athletes to a different kind of magnitude and expectations that can be somewhat unrealistic. And that to me tells the story of how high the expectations are at that level. With so much on the line and everything he has a accomplished at this stage in his career I don't think that him going back down would make any kind of sense. For him to go back down to 168 lb would mean him having to fight mandatory after mandatory after mandatory which is completely ridiculous at this point in his career. And what better championship story would it be for him to win a rematch?

#whatshot #djblaze #onthewatch It's All About @canelo vs @bivol_d #canelobivol #canelo #bivol #fightnight #boxing 🥊Blaze-Canelo may have been reaching a little too high when he attempted to recapture a title at his second run at Light Heavyweight by choosing to pry away the “Big Fundamental” Bivol’s WBA “Super” Title. Bivol wasn’t having it and defended his title like a champion should.Canelo was met with a warrior in Bivol who did not play by his rules but instead proceeded to being quite the challenge Canelo was looking for. Hands Down!A lot of boxing pundits discredited Bivol and had already counted him out but I personally thought all these people were dead wrong about him. Anyone who paid attention and actually watched how Bivol dismantled all of his previous opponents would know that Dmitry’s fundamental skills are flawless. He may not be the strongest or the fastest but his efficiency inside that squared circle remains unmatched. Team Caleno severely miscalculated their “game plan” this time around as they were unable to deter Bivol’s steady nonstop pressure aided by a stiff pistol-like jab that stayed connecting all night. Bivol’s punch output and punch combinations were on point and definitely kept Canelo frustrated throughout the bout.Bivol was impressive and showed absolutely no fear inside that squared circle, unlike some of Caleno’s past opponents who crumbled under the bright lights and the big stage. Bivol silenced the pro-Caleno crowd who were privy enough to witness this masterclass performance unfolding right before their eyes. After 12 full rounds of action all three Judges scored it 115-113 in favor of Dmitry Bivol. congratulations Dmitry this was an incredible win that will last the test of time. Job well done. 🔥☝🏿🥊Read Write Up Here👉🏿www.blazinone.com #boxingnews #soundtrackoftheday #hiphop #rnb #music for all the #sports #boxing #basketball #fans #cigar #smokers #musiclovers #pressplay 🎶🔥👉🏿Blazinone.com Enjoy the #sunday #vibes https://www.instagram.com/p/CdTVX9QLBqZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
